I booked a hotel in Phuket costing over £6500 and on the confirmation email it stated all local taxes were included. I was advised by one of their competitors to get confirmation that the taxes which are 20%, were indeed included in the price. I rang their number, which was difficult to find, and spoke to a lady in Bangalore so difficult to understand. She told me the taxes we not included I waited 10 mins on the phone and she never came back. This sort of trading is very bad, if I had gone to the hotel and they asked me for another £1000 I would have been very annoyed.
Photos in site are for renovated rooms, NOT the rooms that were advertised for booking. Buyer beware, room was like something out of 1980, mold in bathroom and furniture so worn and chipped they likely could not give it away.
A bundled hotel and flight package falsely advertised on Expedia as a children friendly resort. Hotel subsequently changed to Adults Only. Expedia refused to refund my flight cost in addition to hotel. Spent over 5 hours on the phone over two weeks to get full refund from Expedia. A reputable company would have immediately apologized for this happening and corrected mistake. After all the call themselves Expedia.
I spend over $40,000 annually on travel and will never use Expedia again.
Today I spent 4 hours with them, 2 hours trying to book a ticket (there system has issue) and two hours online waiting to talk to their supervisor. When I tried to book with another agent he was very angry! What kind of company is this? It is 5th hour now and the supervisor is still putting me on hold. My airline credit expires in a few days so I have to bear with all this! Junkies in this company!
I ordered 3 separate cabins through expedia and was supposed to get $1000 onboard credit and free drinks while on the cruise. The promotions showed available and highlighted throughout the ordering process in November. Right before the cruise I contacted them to confirm a few details and was given the run around before speaking with a manager on the situation. They advised I do not choose the correct package even though their sales screen highlights the specials given they are not always valid. Norwegian was offering the same package with the credit and the drinks for essentially the same price but I had difficulty ordering 3 rooms through them which is why I used expedia.
Good deals but they send you too many emails and try to get every dollar out of you. I'm a bit of a deal shopper so I didn't like that. Still have good deals though. I looked at a trip to vegas for 3 nights and if i booked separate it was $400 more. On expedia it was $400 less ($1000 total vs 1400)
Terrible customer service and online reservations are misleading! I reserved a room through Expedia only to find out later that the hotel I selected (Hotel 1110 in Monterey) does not allow children at their hotel! Not only did Expedia refuse to refund my money, I was told to leave the hotel with an exhausted 2 year old to find new sleeping arrangements, at 9:30 at night! I only gave 1 star because that was the lowest rating I could give! I will never use Expedia again!
I do not recommend Expedia to anyone. Especially for international trips. Expedia works mainly with shady businesses. I booked through Expedia a car rental in Romania for 580$. Over there I became surrounded by very polite and tricky people who cheated me into paying in the end 2,300$. In vain I tried to complain and fight. Expedia became a cheating shady group, they made me loos lots of money. Do not use them
I use Expedia.ca to book hotels and car rentals for the us. The site is easy to navigate and promises the lowest rates! Booking is made easy with a pay now or when you arrive at the hotel. All the hotel are rated by past customers so you have an idea of what to expect. Confirmation is sent to your email. I have had to cancel and reschedule a reservation once the transaction was completed by Expedia with no extra to cost. I highly recommend!
Booked a ticket from here. The after the payment page the holiday did not confirm and went back to the search page saying a technical error in pink.
However a few weeks later we find that it had been confirmed and we booked alternative arrangements. Expedia will not refund the money and are not helpful. The international call centre is in India where the workers do not understand the customers rights.
I would not recommend expedia after this. Itinerary # **************
I've used Expedia in the past to book hotels and flights and it's been fine. Some friends and I recently used it to book internationally, both flights and hotel. For our return flights, they had no record or confirmation of us. We had to purchase another set of flights if we wanted to get home. We are still working out the details with corporate offices, but I would highly recommend not booking internationally through Expedia. Awful experience.
No travel website is perfect, but Expedia does a pretty good job. Their interface is easy, logging in with Facebook is easy, and earning rewards is easy. But most importantly, actually booking is easy. I like that Expedia accepts all forms of payment and makes it easy to book, unlike directly booking with many airline websites that reject foreign credit cards, don't accept American Express, or routinely flag purchases and cause problems.
Unless I'm booking travel within the US where I book with the airline or hotel directly, I always use Expedia and have never had a problem.
I am an expedia gold member, booked hotel through expedia **************
I wanted to change dates, I contacted hotel they said they did not receive money and bookings get refunded If I cancel before check-in time.
Expedia is not willing to reinstate booking or refund me.
Sadly expedia took my money and ran away.
I love using Expedia.com! Before we go on a trip, we can look at reviews of hotels, restaurants, things to do, places to park, etc. I feel like we have visited some really great finds in cities we visit because of this website.
Their Customer Service can be a little better, but I like using this site to book bundles (flight+hotel). I have booked three trips so for through Expedia. I usually get a pretty good deal and they have a great way to earn points.
Hi, I still haven't received my full refund from a cancelled flight reservation. I cancelled it 5 minutes after I have received the booking confirmation. My concern is that, I only received the partial refund and it's been two days since I made the transaction. I'm worried if I'll still received it or not. I have contacted their customer service but it didn't help at all. I was expecting not to have any cancellation fee as it was clearly stated that all cancelled transactions made within 24 hours will be free of charge. Please advise.
I live in Canada and downloaded the expedia app while trying to book a last minute flight to attend my mother's funeral. The app defaulted to a US customer even though I have a Canadian address and was booking a flight within Canada. As a result, I booked my flight unwittingly in USD and only realized the problem weeks later when I received my credit card statement showing an additional $900 in charges. When I contacted expedia they showed no empathy and took no accountability for their program error. Their sole focus was on denying all responsibility. I will avoid using expedia at all costs.
No value here- use a travel agent for service. Or book direct with the airlines after your research. Third party providers like Expedia or Priceline don't offer any real value- you will have little attention if you want to change or cancel your reservations. Best to go direct... or suffer 3 hours or more with a call center...
I booked a flight and stay through Expedia.com, I later went on online chat with an Expedia representative to cancel the stay, the rep stated he needed to call the motel first, then he came back on the line to say that the motel would issue a full refund with no penalties. I thought this was outstanding! Now, 2 plus weeks later, I got on another chat with Expedia again to inquire about the status of my refund, the agent stated he needed to speak with the hotel again, then they came back on the line saying they would get back to me within 24 hours via email. Yesterday i received a short email simply stating the motel has decided not to issue a refund. No explanation, nothing? I tried to email them back asking what the change is? No reply? I do have a screenshot of my original conversation with the online chat agent stating that the motel agreed to a refund.
I am a Gold status Expedia user and today I booked a trip that included a 7 night stay at a hotel in Berlin. The Expedia agent lied to me about the hotel's cancellation policy, about the location of the hotel (said it was 10 minutes from the conference that I am going to when it is actually one hour away) and about the Expedia consumer rating (he said it was "Wonderful" when it is 3 notches below that. I called back to Expedia less than one hour later and waited on the phone through an agent, a supervisor and finally some other higher "escalation" to be told, "there is nothing that we can do for you". The hotel reservation is for March 2018! Every person I spoke with said, "don't worry I am going to help you". Beware of this company, their Gold status is garbage and they only care about getting your money. Once they have it they could care less about the customer.
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
Expedia has a rating of 2.1 stars from 1,603 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Expedia most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next day. Expedia ranks 203rd among Travel Search Engine sites.
