I have used BoatsFSBO both times I have sold boats... Each time I was successful which I think is due to the exposure I received... Don't hesitate to use this company

Avoid - i got lucky.
October 7, 2015

I willingly started the process by filling out their online form. I fully expected to pay some fees to have them list my boat. So keep in mind i didnt go into this naive.

A few days later, Andy from NY contacted me and explained they attend boat shows and hand out flyers, list my boat on over 40 sites, etc etc and it would be $199.99. So i fell for it. I gave him my CC info but got a call a few minutes later from Andy telling me my card was declined. So i contacted my bank and it turns out it was a simple mix up with the expiration date. HOWEVER, while i was on hold with the bank i did some research and read the very mixed reviews available for these folks.

I called Andy back and explained to him that i was now a bit apprehensive given my research and i had a simple request: Provide me, in an email, a list of services i would be receiving for my $199 fee. Also i asked for a listing of the 40 websites he lists my boat on.

Andy then starts in on how in 35 years of business you cant olease everyone and how if i only truat him 1% he will take good care of me abd "he'll send that list over in a few days after we get the ad up" provided i pay him first.

The conversation wend down hill from there. After i explained to Andy that i didn't want to waste $199 on nothing he insults me by basically saying I've been pulling his chain and i just had a declined card because i don't have any money, etc.

Interesting too how this websites been in business for 35 years when the internet only really became prolific about 15-20 years ago...

Andy if you're reading this you might want to attend some customer relations classes.

So in closing, I GOT LUCKY, kept $200 in my pocket and potentially avoided a scam. They might be legit, buy if they are, they're in serious need of new talent!

Howard was extremely helpful in helping me sell my boat. Dont be fooled by a few negative reviews. The exposure was phenomenal and at a fraction of the cost that a broker charges.

DONT WAIST YOUR MONEY
August 11, 2015

Howard called me 2 years ago. He promised that it would be on multiple web sites I could not find on any. I got only 1 call in 2 years. After about 1 year I tried searching my own boat on the web the only link that showed up was the one that I posted on craigslist. I went to his site and it wasn't even listed on his site. After numerous calls to him it got posted. I feel like this was just a scam. Ps. When you go to his site and read reviews there are plenty of good ones. I looked to post a negative one and could not find how to post a review.

I got a call from BoatsFSBO Howard Solow sales manger to list my 2005 Sonic on 11 web sites he could get me on for $199.00 until sold. I gave him my credit card and about 1 week later I check the sites he sent and only found my boat listed on one. After 3 or 4 e-mails to him, his answer was I Don't work for them just suggesting a site. What a scam so be careful when they call you when you list a car or boat on line. I will also file with The BBB and when my credit card comes in stop payment.
