The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with many customers praising the platform for its ability to connect them with a diverse pool of talented designers and for facilitating a creative contest process that often yields satisfactory results. However, significant concerns have been raised regarding the quality of designs, with accusations of reliance on stock imagery and lack of originality. Additionally, customer service appears inconsistent, with reports of inadequate support and difficulty in resolving issues, including refunds and communication problems. Overall, while the platform offers valuable opportunities, the execution and support may require improvement to enhance customer satisfaction.

99designs team deleted my logo and also i suspended form that., I dont know why they suspend my account. I think 99design is a scam, fraud site. They cheating some designers and stealing their clients money.
I can say that, i have 6more years experience in this field. And my quality of work is better than 99designer team
It was classified in an English brand Ernest Collect Contest with 13 Approved Marks and 3 Stars. They suspended me from the web site saying that I have no I have technical preparation. I have 32 years of experience and attended more than 500 big clients in Brazil and in the World. They did not respond and I intend to go to court to see my legal rights
Hi Lucia,
Hi,
I understand how disappointing it is to see your account placed on hold. Hopefully you can see by our email correspondence that this is not a permanent hold. We only ask that you submit a portfolio because your current entries do not appear to represent our minimum quality standards.
99designs is a professional marketplace, and we are dedicated to cultivating a community of designers who are consistently creating unique, well crafted designs. To this end, each designer account is reviewed personally by a 99designs staff member. In order to remain objective, we do not judge quality on things like education, certifications, or even contest ratings but rather on the actual quality of the entries themselves. We use these basic, universal graphic design principles as our forms of measurement: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/articles/204862935-What-are-99designs-quality-standards-
The reason for the three month period is that we want to make sure designers really take the time to improve in the principles of typography, visual hierarchy, composition and color, as well as technical skills. We have to remain consistent with all designers in our procedure for portfolio review. As such, our staff will not review a portfolio until three months past the date of your account-hold.
I can also see you've been in correspondence with our support team, who should follow-up with you shortly.

Just to add my experience. I also found myself thrown out of 99designs despite positive feedback and decent star ratings. I was in the middle of reading a forum post and they literally logged me out. I couldn't log back in and later discovered the delightful email in my inbox pretty much telling me I wasn't good enough and to go back to school! I've been designing for years and find this quite insulting.
Even if a designer isn't up to the mark, surely a better system would be to subject potential designers to a vetting system so they do not waste their time and effort. Either that or lower the limit of contests they can enter until they improve via a polite message, instead of such a heavy handed approach, actually throwing them off the site as though they were a criminal.
Like an earlier reviewer, to add insult to injury, I couldn't log back in to unsubscribe from their email notifications. I wish I had read reviews about 99designs before signing up, but was lulled into a false sense of security by the fact that my husband has used them as a contest holder in the past. He was reasonably satisfied with his experience at the time, but he will not go near them in future, after witnessing the callous way in which they treat some of their designers. I feel very uncomfortable about the fact that I had to upload a photo of my passport and am now worried about what 99designs will do with that information. Well, lesson learned, I guess, better to stick to traditional work methods.

They closed my account for lack of quality, they never warned me, now I am receiving their junk mails I cannot even log in to my account to unsubscribe from their spam.
They put my account on hold for three months what a joke, had they told me to leave I would have closed my account myself. I don't like the site to begin with, it has too many flaws for a freelancer.
1- Those who copy and steal are the winners, and the site encourages that by allowing their contests to be public.
2- If you are a new member, you will banned for nothing, not by a moderator but by a robot, I was banned the same very second I withdrew a design because I didn't know how to crop it, which means they have robots.
3- They close your account but keep sending you emails every hour, my spam mailbox folder is full right now.
4- The 3 moths hold policy is just rubbish, they can come up with a brighter idea, like limiting your bids to 3 per week for example.
5- They have no consideration for graphic designers, they don't know what graphic design means at all.

99Designs treats our designers so awful it is shocking. Firstly you work on spec brief which is worth almost double then what they pay.
Secondly they suspend anyone who the judge and in their opinion doesn't fit their site. When I was suspended only after 3 contest enteries it really was a kick in the teeth as I got qualification in graphic design and been a freelance graphical artist for 6 years. When I sent across my portfolio of logo designs fron actual paid client they more or less sauud they not good enough. I think it is really bad that they suspend designers like that just because in their opinion isn't good enough.
After research this company I found this company may be in breach of many laws specially In the UK. You see they advertise that they are a middle man service between designer and company so when the suspend designer they are breach if sales of good act which cover services as well because us designers isn't being provided a good service. Furthermore they actually has suspended people who won contest with money on accounts these in it's self is theft and also breach of their own terms and conditions as they have physical evidence they are good match for their site.
99Design doesn't care about their designer who respect them. They know they treat the designer specially when the hide comments on their social media site it just shows how bad they operate against designers. STAY AWAW FROM THIS SITE AT ALL COSTS

This site is a joke! Starts off seeming real, but after you submit a few entries they suspend you for "lack of quality." I think they suspend all new users who are not hired by them! Then the so-called "designers" will just copy your ideas and supposedly win the money, half of which goes to the site itself. Please beware!
This is NOT a welcoming community, NOT a professional company, and NOT anything worth putting time or money into- designers and contest organizers both!
Plus to join you need to upload a picture of your driver's license or passport? Sketchy. I regret giving them my information now that I know this is a scam.

I make top quality designs I have been deigning for over 10 years and they tell me my work isn't quality when Im approved on shutterstock, istock, upwork and fiverr. Not only that but the actual customers always rated my work 4 to 5 stars out of 5 so they loved my designs. The last design I made, made it to the final round and won, Then my account got suspended for poor quality. I never got payed or got recognition I contacted the customer who bought my design I have proof of all this and I am looking into bringing in a lawsuit $$$

I joined 99designs, last weekend. I did a few logo designs here and there for a couple of days, then bam, out came the ban hammer. This solidifies that they are a scam and how would you know. My work was awful? I've been designing for 5 years now and did a lot of work for clients. Most of them are happy with my designs. In the end, stay away from this bull$#*! of a site.

I made the unfortunate mistake of guaranteeing my design and despite telling 99designs how much I was displeased, they never offered me more than "more promotion" of the contest. I wasted $500 and am not even going to use the logo. The customer service was ok; but the designs were totally awful. Very very disappointed and I would not recommend them to anyone I know. I'm in business over 10 years and in the photography industry.

I was also suspended on 99design and I have over 10 years experience, they said my work quality is not good enough which is absurd, I worked for top agencies, I wrote several times to support because I simply was humiliated by their rejection as long as 99% of the logos on 99 design are a joke, and every time I had the same automated answer that my quality of work is not good enough without taking in consideration my portfolio I submitted.
I hired a designer on 99designs for a 1-1 project. I didn't know this at the time, but once payment is secured, it guarantees payment to the designer regardless of quality of work submitted after that point. This is unusual, if you use sites like upwork for example, you can secure payment but you are in complete control of whether freelancer ever receives the funds. Needless to say, I'm stuck with a crappy logo and out $400 USD. I won't be using them again. And for reference, I used a designer who goes by the alias Widakk. He had a good portfolio but the work he did for me was terrible. Use at your own risk.
Hi Thomas,
We're so sorry to hear you did not have the best experience. As the client, you are given control over when the payment is released, so you are able to delay payment until you received a design that is satisfactory to you. Though it sounds like something has gone wrong here, we'd love to help turn this around. Our support team is looking into the project and will be in touch for further assistance.
I am not sure why but most of the reviews i found for 99designs says "Can't Login". Feeling curious, why?

So, made a few designs, about 6 or 7, and they all were good looking and made just how they needed to be and just when I was about to find out if I got qualified in 2 contests I suddenly i got suspended! Why? My work doesn't fit the site! I was shocked, because I've had experience with making logos and designs! When I searched in google the reason I got kicked, I found out that plenty people have been kicked for the same reason, and not even unexperienced people, pros and artists that have been making logos for over 10 years have been suspended/kicked for the same reason!... So in summary, it's a site that doesnt support their artists enough and a site that doesnt really care about artists. I feel shocked and ver angry, because it took me 2 days to make those logos...

If your business needs any corporate branding, from logo design to website design I doubt that you'd get the variety of choice you get on 99designs. As a designer, I get excited about the work I get to do on this site.
Besides helping customers it creates an environment that causes designers to 'go the extra mile' and hone our craft due to the competitive nature of the way in which the work is carried out... besides, who would you rather have doing your work when it comes to creativity, a designer working for a company who has no choice in the assignments they are given, or a designer who has selected your project by choice because it excites them?
Think about that and then give 99designs a try. When you do, I hope I see your contest... who knows, we may find ourselves working together soon.
Answer: Hi Ernest, Thank you for the question!:) While we require payment to be done prior to launching your design contest, we do offer a 100% money-back guarantee, no questions asked. Simply call us before you decide to guarantee your contest or move yourself into the final round. More information can be found here: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/articles/204108729 There are a few instances you will not be eligible for a refund: - Once you decide to continue working with up to 6 finalists, you waive your right to a refund -If you "guarantee" your contest when you launch (under Contest Options), you will not be eligible for a refund as well. Keep in mind this option has to be manually "ticked" - You must call within 60 days of launching your contest I hope this helps and if you have any further questions, please reach out to our Customer Support team at: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/requests/new so we can respond to your inquiries at a more timely manner. Sincerely, Jerlyn from 99designs
Answer: Hi Devon, Thanks for reaching out! If you do not see a bundle package that fits your needs, we suggest starting with one contest and then work with your winning designer via our 1:1 Projects for additional design needs you may have. I would recommend starting with either a Logo + Business Card Contest (https://99designs.com/logo-business-card-design) or Logo + Social Media Image Contest (https://99designs.com/social-media-pack). Here is some additional information on our 1:1 Projects: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/articles/204760975 Please don't hesitate to get in touch with our Support Team and we can explain the options in more detail: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

If you feel these designs did not represent your potential, we encourage you to submit your portfolio in three months (you will have received an email explaining the issue and further instructions).
