Used to be the best for a quick glance at the weather with the option to get as much info as you need. Ever since they upgraded the site the info is all over the place and if you find what you're looking for the site will crash and fail to load the data 9 out of 10 times. What a shame.
I have been posting my personal weather station data and using weather underground since about 2000. HOWEVER, the WeatherChannel has destroyed what once was a great site. I think the latest fall over the cliff was the notice I received.
"The Weather Underground email program is unfortunately coming to an end as of October 1,2019. You can continue receiving the world's most accurate weather forecasts, real time weather alerts and much more all while on the go. Visit wunderground.com or download the Weather Underground app on your mobile device or tablet and sign up for our weather alerts & notifications via the settings menu. Additional information can be found here."
Very disappointing in the turn in their service towards being lack luster, the website change is terrible and now the forecasts.
WG has committed org. Suicide. Destroyed the best service and apps in the business overnight. Sad to see an old friend dive off a cliff for no apparent reason. Most orgs would have formed a beta test group for a new app and only launched when the new app. Was ready for prime time. Instead they blew up the beautiful, mature old app and replaced it with a piece of $#*!. Leaving thousands of paying users dumbfounded and betrayed. Completely avoidable, completely unnecessary. Stupid suicidal move which they won't walk back. Some things deserve to die. I guess WG's corporate ego chose to go down with the Titanic. The post mortem will likely reveal that the CEO is handsomely rewarded for this bold and brazen act. I'd like to feel sorry for WG but I only feel sorry that Jeff Masters did not choose someone else to shepard WG to a different future.
I have been a subscriber for years. It was better than anything out there. Then, suddenly, they changed their site and it just isn't as useful for my purposes. (Like going to a restaurant for your favorite dish, and they change the recipe). Further, accuracy is degraded -- different temps and weather on their different pages so apparently there is no sync between them. One sunny day, I noticed it kept saying it was raining and storming, although there were no storms nearby.
I prefer using "classic" because that's the useful setup for me. They're taking that away in November, so I will switch from wundergrounds to local weather station (and apps) and accuweather. IMO, wunderground has been upgraded out of usefulness to me.
Bad forecasts, bad current data, bad science - welcome to Trumpworld aka Weather Underground. Instead of making populist statements regarding climate change, concentrate on getting your data inputs and forecasting algorithms correct. Wunderground has descended into the millennial arena of not checking data, making little or no assessment / interpretation, and providing poor product. I have, until now, been a major proponent - no longer!
I have been an avid proponent for Weather Underground since 2016, but something has gone very wrong lately. Over the past year my Personal Weather Station now doesnt show up unless you really zoom in, I've re-registered (having a new weather station number) and started again with no improvement. The webcam that I added was difficult to get on-line and now continues to be dropped. People are now calling me saying the camera is not working.
I'm almost embarrassed to have fiends and neighbors log on now. Help is almost no existent and has no confirmation they have done anything. Very frustrating.
That Intellicast got bought up by this bloated, improperly webcoded POS bothers me to no end.
The 10 day forecast never completely loads it's graphs, their weather news videos aren't compatible with my desktop's browser, even their weather Apps aren't working on my older KindleFire when other weather website would, I'm through with WU.
Bring. Back. Intellicast. I have now made Weather Channel my temporary weather home page.
Why did they ruin the best weather site like they just did? I am switching over to intellicast.com It looks very similar to what wunderground.com used to look like. It appears to also be owned by the same owners of The Weather Channel, so who knows how much longer it will last. But for now, I haven't found a better replacement weather site.
If not then this is useless complaining. Many have complained about the ads, spam and over-complexity of browsing this site. I really don't have a problem with any of that, but I've been tracking the high temperatures for my town every day for months, and there has not been One. Single. Day. When the actual high wasn't 3-4 for degrees higher than what wunderground predicted. Today's forecast high was 96. It hit 102. My question is, who's monitoring this, and don't they see the consistent 3-6 degree underestimation? And maybe change their forecasting? If I were that far off, that consistently, in my own business, I simply would no longer be in business.
Just piling on here. I cannot believe how much worse this app got with the new update. No more precipitation totals, far less functional forecast charts (the trendline labels aren't even by the right lines!), no detailed forecast descriptions, no widgets, slow to open and load, the animated compass points thing is pointless and distracting, etc., etc., etc. I assume we have IBM to thank. I've been a huge weather underground fan for years and am ready to give up on it now. RIP weather underground.
Multilple problems with the new app (last used a few weeks ago before I deleted it). The problems far outweighed the minor improvements:
- much slower to open
- huge space-wasting opening dial
- formerly compact visuals and precip predictive #'s spread out far
- new wind predictive directions/speed arrows are are hard to read, and pushed way down page
- multiple clicking needed to see things ( they were formerly on opening page or maybe 1 click into site).
- crashes more times per day than most recent version did in a month or more
- it is sad to see a really good app fade into mainstream mediocrity... hoping they restore visuals and predictive info from the former versions (ie 2012-19 versions were good)
I stumbled across this some time ago for my very own subdivision and it used to be pretty accurate. Last month that changed dramatically. Now when it's really raining, they say the sun is out. Then when the radar says clear, it is raining! The worst is showing rain totals. We just had rain all day and the local tv station said 1.7" accumulation. The wunderground site says. 02... yikes! Don't know what happened but this is really useless now. If there was a negative rating, would have said that!
So disappointed how the weather channel has ruined what was my go-to site for weather information. The site now is so ad-laden, slow and buggy that it is unusable and just keeps getting worse. Such a fall from the great site it was before being taken over.
Speedometer temperature display signalled the end of a great app. Too splashy and far less informative. If there is an app that replicates the original, please say so in a comment. Otherwise I and many others are gone. Marketing and millenial bit twiddlers have chased users away. Soon low readerships will justify total shutdown as a mechanism to get users to switch to weather.com and remove a competitor. Standard business is to buyout competition, ruin usefulness and kill it.
The Wundermap link on my full-feature laptop no longer brings up the map underlay! All I get is the radar against a background of a blue-on-blue grid with no physical or map features whatsoever. Not much help when you're trying to track storms or lightning.
As others have said - "from the best to the worst". Shame on TWC for making this happen. And their own website isn't much better.
This app definitely went backwards. So much harder to find the info I routinely looked for. Wish I could remove the last update. Will be removing the app and looking for replacement. Too bad, was a good app until the so-called update.
This website reminds me of the National Weather Service website when a bad storm comes. When you need them most, is usually when the site quits working. I knew it was going to be down hill when "The Weather Channel" got involved with Weather Underground.
As a professional pilot intellicast was my go to for quick info and radar. It understood airport ID's and radar summary enroute would give me a great overview of the weather and tops ahead. I was devastated when I logged in a few weeks ago. Why would they ruin such a great thing?
I've been using this site for years. The look and layout of the site has changed a few times over the years, sometimes for the better, sometimes worse. This latest change has just utterly ruined the site. Now you have to click to get to the ten day forecast and half the time it doesn't even load. I don't know if it was their intention, but the weather company has driven this site into the dirt.
I am a landscaper who used this app for years very successfully to plan my days. I have an I pad stand and cannot use it in portrait mode and I cannot understand your graphs and re design. I am truly angry that you could destroy something that worked so well. I had to change apps and it is still not as good. It is unusable for me and it is going to fail for you! Disgusted!
Answer: This was deliberate calculated sabotage for some reason
Answer: It won't come back. IBM bought The Weather Company to get at the data so they could package and sell that to their corporate customers using their "Watson" cloud services. Individuals mean nothing. That they've managed to so thoroughly destroy what was once the premiere weather site says a lot about the incompetence behind their core "Watson" products. You might want to tell IBM that.
Answer: They hired a bunch of idiots to manage and design their new site. This included removing features and gutting the radar.
Answer: Yes. We have many employees who come to work each day desperate to appear productive and relevant. We ask them to destroy functional lean websites with bloated nonsense. Meanwhile, our executives require more money so we like to devastate communicative websites with ad-infested infestations of pus-riddled idiocy. Thanks for asking!
Answer: Pointless giving feedback/complaints. I tried this and got an automated reply telling me how much better it was!
Answer: Your local Tv station meteorologist.
