Don't trust Vitalchek, I ordered my birth certificate twice and they love to try and take your money, they don't know anything about tracking or the certificate at all they'll just tell you they're a third party company and you will just have to wait until your documents arrive. I've waited patiently for them since July 8,2021 and it's now late October, I'm just trying to get a state I.d. or drivers license because I don't have my original birth certificate! I still haven't received my documents and honestly from these reviews I feel like I probably never will or it's gonna be some new excuse from them saying there's nothing they can do. You're probably better off getting any documents you need in person, don't even waste ya cheese.
Don't order anything from here. They never give any response on time. For me it's been a month waiting for the response.
I submitted document perfectly well, all items are good however they still say a list of parameters are missing. A very generic reply but what is actually missing no on reply. I only got a call once initially from them to ask if I want to expedite so they can charge 20$ after that they never called. I am going to county office for a new application now. Don't be attracted by their ad which says #1 service, I tell you they don't deserve any rating. 0 rating #0 service
I ordered my birth certificate in June and 7 months later finally received the email that my order has been shipped. I haven't received my order yet but hopefully it'll come in the next week. 0/10 would never recommend using this service again. Just call your local county office and ask them for help. Much faster, cheaper, and overall a better experience than through the state.

My order was placed on May 2,2022 with an expected delivery of 90-100 days (which in itself is ridiculous). The state offices for the records have been operating normally for quite some time. It's 99 days later, and the website still shows the order in process. There's no excuse for this taking so long, and you cannot get an answer from customer service. They are now showing an estimated delivery date of November 28,2022, which is 200 days! Terrible, unreliable company with deceptive advertising.

I will never recommend the use of this service. If I could rate it a 0, I would. Non-refundable service fee, regardless of if you cancel your order or not. Enjoy my $12.95. Find your local vital records and go there directly. Was much easier for me overall.
I never received the birth certificate after paying over $43. I needed it quickly and now it is too late. I am asking for a refund but told "there is nothing they can do." On a previous phone call, It was suggested that I pay a second time & just reorder.!

This is the second time I've used Vital Check. Both times went exactly as they showed online. I did call my birth state bc the certificate looked so different but the depth said they changed it and verified it was sent. Once again, Vital Check came through.

I had to use them prior for my son's birth certificate, and it went fine. I have to get my birth certificate after a move, and it's like pulling teeth. Driver's License and military ID front and back, and they say the signature is no good. I signed two authorization forms, because one was too light. I get the notarization form in, and after I contacted Customer Service, I get an email with some attitude, saying now they can't see the ID cards at all. Not a very good company and has poor customer service.
I order a certificate and after 105 days they didn't send it I called them and they told me that they need 100 business days more because they didn't notice that I need one number so they can take the document you just going to lose your time with them
I was very disappointed. There's a lot of information on my specificket is wrong and I have to find a way to go all the way out to this property. Or place of property and tell me that I have to pay for them to fix the mistakes and everything in computer should be right. And what I felt out was right. I got my mother's name wrong birth rate not dead. I don't even know where I was born at. I'm so confused or why they can't see an assistant and put my information in this in a system on a birthday ticket because it's all wrong.

While VitalCheck makes the process of getting a copy of vital records smooth and even quick, the cost is outrageous! You pay for the document, you pay for the shipping, and then you pay half again for VitalCheck. I live in NC and needed a copy of my Massachusetts birth certificate. $42 for Massachusetts, $9 for shipping, and then $19 more for VitalCheck. And I am told that the cost of obtaining vital records in other states can be even higher. We have come a long way from when it was $2 a copy plus a stamp. Outrageous!
I needed a certified copy of a birth certificate for a passport. You MUST APPEAR IN PERSON at your county clerk's office. So just go there and do that. Show your driver's license and fill out a form. The Vital Chek was a middleman that just made it more confusing. Call your clerk's office first if you are older. In San Mateo County old birth records are in a warehouse so it takes longer, a few days, it took four days. The helpful people at the county office I rate highly, 10. Very helpful and kind. I had time sensitive material that I needed asap and there was an address issue. Vital check sent a link to make corrections but it was useless as ups said I could make no changes to my order. I went straight to ups, I did want the runaround with vital check, and was able to pick my order up from the ups hub at the airport... I got the documents I needed but not the service I paid for

Although this is the only company "trusted" by our government to send out the documents we need, it seems to have a monopoly on how to "technically"? Deliver vital statistics that I ordered. I requested on July 27th for an actual birth certificate, for identification purposes, just received it today, it's august 12th now. What did I get instead? 3x copies, although still being certified by the county of "certificate of live birth" does anyone actually know the difference? It's not a "slight" difference, it makes a difference when trying to get "proof" of identity to an apartment, or as a supportive document needed for a driver's license or passport. But? Is it really that big of a deal? When people order fries, when working a burger joint, do you hand them a shake? When people give you $55 to expedite next day ups air, also requiring a signature at the house requesting such an order of a specific single document that is actually necessary at times to gain access to different forms of identification. Do you make them "wait and see" and hope they don't know the difference between "the sky, and the ground" or? "What difference does it make"? As if the people who order the products and the people who send the products are the "Same people"? No! Because those sitting in the offices sending the products actually get paid to do the "work" of getting the correct products sent! I might as well have sat in the offices sending myself the birth certificate so I could get the right results. But I don't work there..
Title says it all. Poor customer service. You'll wait for at least an hour on hold before anyone picks up. After sometime their own site wouldn't show me the progress of my order… buyer beware.

While I ordered my own birth certificate, and later my father's, without incident, the problem was with my grandmother's death certificate. The site indicates the relationship that I have to have - no problem. I was then asked to provide my birth certificate to prove my relation (by the way, that was NOT required to get my father's birth certificate), but then was also asked to provide my FATHER'S birth certificate. Really? If I can prove who my father is, the State clearly knows who his mother is. I didn't have my father's birth certificate at the time and, as it turns out, he didn't have a copy either.
I asked the company to cancel and refund since they obviously couldn't provide the ordered service nor had they made it clear in advance that I'd need multiple birth certificates to prove my identity. They indicated they don't refund, so I said never mind then. My sister then DIED, so this wasn't my priority at the moment. When I finally got a copy of my dad's birth certificate - sorry, we've canceled your order, no refund is due.
I don't know why the State uses them still when they have an atrocious satisfaction rating. It feels like a money-making racket. Plan on filing a complaint with the State as well.

Answer: They are probably legit, but if you are ordering your Birth Certificate just do yourself a favor and order your death certificate along with it because you will probably be dead before you get it!
