Ordered BC on 1/17. They were unable to process my credit card, did not contact to let me know for 2 weeks. Contact them on 1/31 to because when I went to check the status online it ( finally send notice that credit card payment wasn't processed). Speak to a representative, she processes the payment & although I ask her why the online form still states that the credit card was declined, she tells me not to worry about it - will update. I see the credit card has processed on my end- but a week later on 2/7-Vitalchek online form still states payment declined. So I call back again, stay on hold for 15 mins while service rep checks on it. Asks me if she can process my credit card again, I tell her no- since I can already see it went through my bank on 1/31. Puts me on hold again to talk to supervisor. Comes back and tells me it's a computer glitch & though they can see it was paid- the system didn't update it. She cannot fix it, nor can her supervisor- they have to get a 2nd supervisor involved and have to call me back. Calls back an hour and half later, says yes can conform payment went through on 1/31 and they just now sent my request to the state to get my Birth certificate. WTF? So sat on payment for a week... no notice. If I hadn't called to check- they would have just kept my money and not submitted the request. It is now 3 weeks and I cold have just submitted my request directly to my state vital records office and not paid these@@#$! To just hold my money and do nothing, I'm still a month out from getting my BC. Oh, and I just checked this order status online... and my order still says payment declined( ironically with a Green checkbox?) The odds of me actually receiving anything is not looking good. Will call back again later today to find out why it still says "payment declined" when I am more calm and less shouty.
After paying 44.00 for a birth certificate, I now have to pay 55.00 to correct a worker's mistake. I still have no faith that they will get it right, even though I provided documentation. Why should the onus be on me to prove who I am. Vitalchek ran away from any responsibility regarding this matter. Why does anyone need your services?
The price for a copy of a death certificate is way over priced. I needed the copy quickly and didn't feel comfortable waiting on the U.S. Postal service so I had to pay additional money to have it sent UPS. Not sure if there are alternatives to getting certified copies of birth/death certificates, but I would highly recommend trying a different way. On a positive note, the document did arrive quickly.
My child's birth certificate was incorrect. I purchased two of them and they both had the father's middle name spelled incorrectly. They replaced his middle name with my son's, now we have to go get them corrected in person which is what we were trying to avoid since we are both busy individuals.
Answer: They are probably legit, but if you are ordering your Birth Certificate just do yourself a favor and order your death certificate along with it because you will probably be dead before you get it!
