I'd rate them a zero if I could. Nearly impossible to close account. Phone number that noone answers or returns calls. They will bill you forever. Don't use them. Run away.
They automatically charge your account annually without any confirmation or notification by email. When you try to cancel the subscription the process is intentionally unclear and convoluted. This is a very dishonest way of doing business.
Cancelled a free subscription within a day of starting it. Then was billed for the entire year. Non responsive customer service and no phone contact number. Don't give them your credit card info! Guess I'm taking an extra shift this week :(
Purchased the wrong package asked for a refund so I could buy the right one. I emailed them 2 minutes after. The service agent said they would only do 33% even though I want to use their other side for learning. I cancelled the other because the people there "helping" were rude and did nothing to help. Don't trust them. Wish I read these reviews before. Udemy has some amazing teachers I have found that are way more helpful and cheaper fyi :)
Was looking for opinions on whether the paid service was worth it and going by what I've read here and elsewhere it would seem not.
The unpaid tabs are fine for the most part though I use them as a starting point rather than gospel and tend to have to make corrections as I go.
A shame they can't be a more professional/credible resource in the way they come across but as a free thing it seems better than most.
Had to write this given all the negative reviews, in my third year now, never had a problem with the subscription. I am more than pleased with the tabs and I am considering subscribing to the lessons.
I have always paid via apple's app, the subscription runs out every year and I choose to renew it. Cant understand how anyone can have a problem with cancelling payments. I consider it a great go to and the features of pro are worth the money.
I signed up for a free trial only to be billing $30. They make it very difficult to contact customer service or cancel.
I won't be renewing my subscription and will be using the free version instead. I signed up via the website for a $64.99/yr subscription to "Pro." I wanted to use UG on my mobile phone, too, so I downloaded the app on my phone (UG is supposedly cross-platform). I tried to login with my website password and I couldn't. I ended up giving my credit card info again, thinking that the app version needed that info, too (as proof of subscription), in order for me to log in. I ended up subscribing — again — to "Pro + Courses" for $59.99/yr.
I contacted support about accidentally subscribing twice, and they said they'd fix it, but they never did. So I've had 2 subscriptions to Pro for some months now. In my website account, I can see the $64.99/yr subscription, along with the renewal date, but *I can't cancel auto-renew.* There's no way to do that, zero. I had to contact support to do that and it was a huge convoluted email conversation with two different support people who really did *not* get what I was asking for (or didn't *want* to get what I was asking for).
These are all red flags to me, and I won't be renewing my subscription, I'll find another way to get tabs or use their free version. Why are companies slimy like this? Just be honest & transparent & give your customers control to renew or not. People will like you better and your service will be more popular and successful. Just treat people right, it makes everything better, for both the company and their subscribers (and the poor support people who are trained in a culture of slime and encouraged to treat subscribers with suspicion and contempt; what a miserable work-life).
At a July 4 gathering last year to sit, play and sing, needed the lyrics to a few songs. Someone suggested ultimate guitar. With free trial, we decided to try it. After a few unsuccessful attempts at retrieving any useful music, put it aside and cancelled the 'subscription'. Heard nothing further.
This year, got notification from Apple Cash that Ultimate Guitar had attempted to collect $39.00 Upon further review found they had NOT canceled my 'Free Trial" and had also put thru charge for $42.00. There's no telephone contact available and this fraud appears to be widespread. Unfortunately, some music teachers in our public schools refer students to look at it from time to time as well. We need consumer help!
Such scam artists. Won't give me a refund for something I have not once used, and will not use. I was fine with paying 24.99 because it was my mistake last year. But this year too? They're crazy and attempt to charge you even when unauthorized. Terrible business and bad customer service.
I bought a subscription but have been unable to logon ONCE! No customer service except by message. Tried to cancel within 3 days of start. U need to login to cancel and my password have been changed a dozen+ times. Total rip-off. Check them out. Not just me. Stay away. Thieves.
They are a bunch of rip offs. They claim the have a 100% Satisfaction guarantee. I have asked for my money back, however they told me know! What kind of guarantee is that. The also boast a 7 day free trial. That isn't happening either. I am taking this to the next level because they leave me no choice. I tried to use their sire 1 time and then cancelled Same day I signed up. I just don't like their platform It SUCKS and is very hard to navigate and understand... Just do the right thing and give the MONEY BACK
I signed up for a free trial of the pro service and now I've cancelled my subscription over 10 times and continue to get charged for it. There is no contact information on the website and no help. These people are crooks.
Watch out for subscribing to a trial with https://www.ultimate-guitar.com. When subscribing they automatically put you onto another subscription package without notification so when your 1st trial is up a full one year subscription is deducted and a gift for your loyalty.
On the 10th September 2024 I subscribed to a free 7 day trial for Ultimate Guitar Pro from the website https://www.ultimate-guitar.com using my Paypal payment details. I then received an email explaining the costs and trial period. This is below.
On the 16th September 2024 I went to cancel the subscription and was offered another 7 day free trial which I accepted.
On the 18th September 2024 I was billed £59.99 from https://www.ultimate-guitar.com. I emailed them immediately informing them that they gave me an additional 7 day free trial.
They then came back and said that amount was deducted from another product of theirs called Ultimate Guitar Songbooks. I requested an immediate refund as the amount had just gone off and I told them I didn't even know about that subscription. They refused a full refund citing their terms and conditions.
For the 1st subscription I received an email detailing the trial and costs. For the second subscription I never received anything that notified me I had even subscribed. I never received an email or notification at all letting me know of this second subscription.
This site seems to be a scam. We were charged for a subscription we thought we'd cancelled, with no refunds offered. The cancellation itself is particularly difficult to accomplish. I'm steering all my musician friends very far away from this site.
I wanted to get a trial with the christmas sale but I got scammed and forced to pay $70.
Be very careful to read every single lines during the ordering process.
They propose 3 different plans, but only one has a trial period.
You'll get charged immediately for the other two, that's being really dishonest with customers.
Hello Juan, Thanks for your feedback, Yes, we have a plan with a 7-day free trial period. This plan was pre-selected. As you can see in your screenshot, only the first plan has a '7-days free trial' in the description. The other plans do not contain this information.
I signed up for their one week free trial, and they immediately charged me the full price for a year (over $44). Luckily I noticed the charge on my account. I emailed their customer support, and they were completely unhelpful and rude and refused to refund my money. I had to complain to Google to get my money back. These guys are crooks.
Thank you for your feedback. If you have made a purchase on Google Play, it is common practice to request a refund from Google. This is the standard policy for Google Play applications. "Auto-renewing subscriptions purchased through an Android application can only be canceled by following the instructions located at https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2476088?hl=en. Refund requests for canceled auto-renewing subscriptions purchased through an Android application must be submitted to Google Play Support using this link: https://play.google.com/store/account."
This is the first negative review I have ever written. I don't take it lightly to say that a company is bad. This one is unscrupulous. Do not, I repeat, do not give them your credit card information or you will end up spending months paying for the service long after you have decided not to. They make it difficult to unsubscribe.
I lost my login information, whatever you do, don't do that. By their own admission, they don't accept the cancellation by phone. After several years of trying to find a way to cancel... I finally found my login and guessed my password and then had to google how to cancel the subscription because it is not easily found on their website.
Their response to me was that they were sorry to see me go, (no kidding, they've lost a financial hostage).
Beware, this company is fully aware of their unethical treatment of their customers and not only do they not care, it appears to be a deliberate revenue stream for them.
This is terrible service. I took a yearly subscription because I saw an advertisement on the site that they had a video on how to play the song I wanted. After I paid, the video disappeared, and support sent me to the course page and no longer contacts me. As well as return my money.
Hello Konstantin, Thank you for your feedback. The screenshot you've provided us with demonstrates that we offer a video for a specific tab but not a Lesson video on how to play the exact tab. So, it allows you to follow along with the original song and play the instrument.
If you open this tab and hit the "Video" button, you will see the linked videos.
Ultimate guitar sent me a basic message that they send everybody trying to make them look right but their scammers. They told me they didn't have a 30.99 trial run. The thing is the $30.99 was in the same square box that other prices where for trials
but I checked the $30.99 box so their liars. And just to say if it wasn't there why did the still take $30.99 out of my bank account THEIR LIARS. Glad I paid through pay pal. I contacted pay pal they reviewed my case and confirmed I won my case and received my money back. So you tell me who the liar is. In ultimate guitar reply to me they said you can still get the guitar pro tabs for free, but it's not true you still have to sign up with your credit card to get a free trial to receive the few tabs they have. Ultimate guitar are legal scammers because they have their loop holes around the law. If their so good and right all the time of what they say why on this website and others there are so many complaints from so many people complaining about the same thing, REALLY. Do not use this ULTIMATE GUITAR WEBSITE. Take care consumer's watch all websites and watch your trust. Remember they just want your Money. 1 star cause I had to to send this message or I would give notting
I live in Canada, thought I"d try their free trial for 1 month for $30.99 now! Since about 2006 you had to pay for the structure of guitar pro 5 the songs we're free then, now the mighty dollar has taken over. It's been years when I used to go on and get guitar pro tabs songs for free I must have 70 of them still on the old guitar pro. So getting back to this subscription stuff I went to down load the Guitar Pro 5 song Dust on the Bottle 20 minutes after I sighed up it said file not found Abort, it said. I go to another song same thing happened. So I e-mailed and got an email from Emma she said" I sighed up for a year for $124.99 and there was no trial run for 30 days at $30.99. So anyways as you all know we all pressed the button we wanted.
And not for a year subscription as they say. The way they set up their free subscription are developed to suck us all in and then it's a Hassel to get through to them and their lies. They come on line to say their sorry and go to our web site we'll try and help but they won't help they just say that in the reviews to make people think their gonna help, but believe it they won't help they'll just lie and lie and lie these are why their scammers and try to bill you every month, let me say that one more time pay every month. So call pay pal your bank or what ever you used to sigh up with them if not they'll rip you off. Believe this please. And I will also say I gave her some choice words for lying to me but I loved it, for that's all I could do but they won't get a second month from me. Its the 30.99 a little bit that bugs me but It's sadder when you give trust snd then you find out they had no trust to begin with. Take care all be safe and watch your trust. And for the people that put five stars on each level good for you but you are only very few, very few.
Answer: Hello Mark, You can always contact technical support at support@ultimate-guitar.com
Answer: Report as Fraud. Not that they have set it up to make it impossible to cancel or any of the other sleazy business practices they are exercising. The bottom line is they are fraudulently acquiring money from you
Ultimate Guitar has a rating of 1.4 stars from 103 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases.
