Use Expedia Instead
January 12, 2018

At 8:37 p.m. I went onto the Travelocity website to book a trip. I went through all of the questions on the website, chose a hotel room, and outgoing and return flights. The system shows me a price of $914.00. Then the little wheel started to spin while the system claimed that it was downloading information. 40 minutes later and the wheel is still spinning. I decided to call and make the reservations over the phone. Spoke to agent #1. Gave her all of the information that I had already input into the system. It suddenly became difficult to understand what the agent was saying; not sure if it was my phone or her phone, but her solution was to hang up on me. Called Travelocity back, this time from my cell phone. Luckily, the agent had logged the information into the system. Went through all of the details with agent #2, but the price had increased to $1087. 00. Gave her my credit card number. Oh, the price went up a second time to $1140. 00. I am mildly annoyed, but I told her to book the ticket. She comes back and tells me that the system would not allow her to book the itinerary that the system had generated. Oh, and the price had increased again to over $2000. 00. I asked for an explanation, after all, the system had picked the connecting flights. Must not be much of a system. She transfers me to Customer Service. Customer Service cannot even find the itinerary in the system. I know that the itinerary is there- I'm looking at it on my computer. Customer Service transfers me back to the main menu without warning. I have now spent 2 minutes short of 3 hours trying to book this trip. I hit the prompt and asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor can't find the itinerary in the system either. How is it that I'm the only person who can work their system? I ask for an explanation- why can't their system determine connecting flights that will meet the requirements set by the airlines? How can the price increase four times while I'm waiting for them to input information into the system. Suddenly, the phone connect goes bad and I can't understand what the supervisor is saying. This company doesn't even have a decent phone system. I was able to understand her when she told me that the price had increased again, to $2240. 00. Are you kidding? She suggested that we stay in a hostel instead of a hotel to get the price down. I hung up on Travelocity and called Expedia. 3 minutes later I am completely booked with the original itinerary, including the original hotel, for $1100. 00. I have to wonder how Travelocity is still in business. I also have to question their hiring requirements. If you value your sanity- CALL EXPEDIA.

When things go wrong
September 4, 2015

I have been loyal to Travelocity/Expedia for 15 years and did tons of bookings with them. There were times hotels or vacations were good or bad... etc. Travelocity made it easy to book places and until recently I did not have any specific problems with my bookings which I thought could and should have been resolved by Travelocity. Several weeks ago, I booked a hotel by mistake and it turned out to be non-refundable booking. So far so good, it was my bad and as soon as I realized I called travelocity within seconds to see if anything could be done about it. They had to reach the hotel to see, but the problem got worse right at that point. Noone, including travelocity could reach the hotel, because it did not exist. As I read the reviews and sent a friend to check it out, I was 100% sure that there was no hotel at the provided address, just a rundown building that looked nothing like the ad. Travelocity informed me that it was their policy to contact the hotel to issue a refund. Finally, I was able to contact the so called hotel myself and they texted me another location to go to. It turned out to be an extremely unsafe location, a rundown building, (would not even feel safe to park my car there during daytime). I rang the bell and noone answered the door, I tried reaching the so called hotel and no answer again... etc... you get the picture... I finally called travelocity for the forth time, and this time to cancel it. I re-explained all the situation many times. Although, I have foreseen this and forewarned them, I still was not offered a refund and unlike the ads aired, they did not try to make things right. I was more disappointed in travelocity than this so called hotel, because they should have understood my situation and instead of having me tell this story over and over to multiple supervisor, losing many hours on the phone, they could/should have immediately offered me a refund and even arranged a hotel nearby to compensate for my situation (this costs nothing for such a large company and I am sure they could have enforced it on this scammer hotel). This was the first time I faced a problem with a merchant "falsely advertising" at Travelocity website and abusing my trust for the company in between. This is just like how you find out if an insurance company is actually good - when you really need them, when you have an accident. I am still struggling to get my money back and I have only been offered to coupon (half the price of the hotel) to use in a "future booking". So far I have been very disappointed in how travelocity handled the situation and how they made it easier for people to be fooled by their merchants. I was offered nothing that was promised in their ads: We will make things right!, NO you did not. You easily, very easily could have made things right. You could have even avoided this whole thing as soon as you found out that the hotel was unreachable even before I went there.

This may be a long winded message, but bare with me... I will provide a good piece of advice at the end to make sure this does not happen to you. I purchased motel lodging from travelocity.com, and was promised a certain rate... including all taxes and fees. When I went to hit the submit order button, my card was automatically charged a rate significantly higher than the agreed on price. I called their customer service department, and waited patiently after I was put on hold after hold, finally was able to speak for a moment to a sales associate who could do nothing to get my money back... The best part was that the associate said they have a system in place... this is the best part... whereby the price you click on, may not be the price you actually get. In those milliseconds from the mouse click to where the order is confirmed, the price can change. Now, there is no mention of this fact on their website. It is FALSE ADVERTISING. They offered me a $50 voucher for future purchases, I declined. I wanted my money back, plain and simple. The sales associate said they would have a department look into the matter and if they were in the wrong, they would refund my money.

Several days later, I spoke with another associate in customer service. I went through all of the details of what had occured, and didn't get anywhere with the situation. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after wasting more and more of my precious time, was finally transferred to a corporate associate. This lady said they would review all the info online
To confirm what price I had actually confirmed at. Finally the corporate associate came back on the line and said "so you confirmed at such and such price", which was the inflated price of which they had actually charged me. To which I responded "No I did not". The corporate associate continued to say the same thing over and over again ad nauseam, trying to get me to say yes to her answer. I then became silent and so did she.
After wasting another hour of my time, on top of the other hour plus I had wasted from days before, I was ready to end the conversation. I said I would take it up with my bank, and now am going through that process. MY ADVICE-screen shot the web page with all the details about the transaction, where it lists the final price, including taxes and fees. That way if you click submit and are charged a correspondingly higher amount(as happened to me) you will have a record of it. I will never use Travelocity again.

DO NOT USE TRAVELOCITY
December 27, 2021

BOOK THROUGH LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE. Travelocity is horrendous. My mother booked a round trip flight and had an unexpected death in the family. The funeral ended up being the day after her initial return flight was scheduled, so she needed to move her return flight. No change fees, should be easy right? WRONG. After their system told us we needed to contact customer service to change the reservation, it took more than 6 HOURS to finally speak to someone. We each were continually hung up on, redirected, etc. The agent I finally connected with ensured me that he would rebook her flight and charge the difference of the new flight to her card ($275). She agreed and he then said the system was down so she would have to contact the airline directly to change it. She called the airline and they were going to charge an insane fee for not going through Travelocity to change the flight. Upon hearing this, I started a new marathon of trying to get back in contact with an agent at Travelocity. The new agent said the new flight would now cost almost $400 (the same one that was $275 initially). He said the prices fluctuate and we should have booked it when it was $275 despite explaining that the system was down. We then learned that the initial agent CANCELLED HER FLIGHT WITHOUT HER PERMISSION. Knowing the system was down, he still decided to cancel her flight without informing her. After several more hours on the phone, the airline informed me that her flight was cancelled by Travelocity. Travelocity is now requiring a death certificate to get a refund for the flight that THEY CANCELLED WITHOUT PERMISSION. Book through the airline directly or any other travel site. Travelocity is a JOKE. Her sister passed and now she's out almost $800 due to their errors. The worst customer service I have ever dealt with. If you have any issues, you will continually be hung up on, redirected, or disconnected. DO NOT USE TRAVELOCITY.

I booked a 3-night stay at Super8 Decatur Georgia through Travelocity. It was the sixth stay in 12 months at that hotel. I chose the online payment directly to Travelocity and put it on my American Express card. I also selected the more expensive option, versus the no-cancellation option, thinking it would be extra insurance if I needed to cancel or change. NOT! I was taken by ambulance to an Atlanta area hospital with an emergency brain problem, and stayed six days. My cousin who stayed in the room with me the first night, cleared out the room, notified the hotel that I would not be staying the second and third nights, and I called from the hospital as soon as I could as well. I asked only that the THIRD NIGHT be refunded or credited back to my AmExp card, but Travelocity emailed me that hotel would decide. When I contacted the hotel, they said Travelocity would have to decide. When I disputed with AmExp, Traveloisty refused, saying that their policy states that refund can't be made, once I check-in. That Super8 is SuperBUSY, PACKED PARKING LOT EVERY NIGHT, IT IS BASIC, BUT GOOD VALUE, and I have stayed there numerous times. I am convinced they were able to prepare my room and rent it out for that third night, since I cancelled on the afternoon of the second day. AmExp says they have added the $93 charge back to my bill, and my dispute is not favorable to me. My hospital bill is almost $40,000, so this just adds insult to incredulity! Do not book through Travelocity. It is safer to book through Super8; I believe they would have helped me on the charge.

IBERIA = VUELING=LEVEL
SAME SEAT on the airplane each one charges differently for the seat on the plane.

8 HOURS traveled without No FOOD- No DRUNK You pay for everything
We purchased 6 tickets from Travelocity to travel from New York JFK to Barcelona Airport and check in with Iberia. When we reached JFK the airplane was late by one hour and a half (1 1/2 hours) without any advertisement. While we were waiting they said that the airplane was on the piste and we will leave in 20 minutes. And when I looked thru the window I saw LEVEL I didn't say anything, I was thinking in my mind the airplane just landed with Covid how much cleaning did they do? Because Jet Blue always SANITIZE their airplanes way before COVID-19. OMG LEVEL looked to me like a bird cage, the Hallways were 10" not even the seats were very close with their 8" tables folded in 2 parts when I sat down, I know measurements very well they measured 10" THAT"S ALL YOU HAVE FOR FEET, and the air conditioner was 30 degree it was so cold I feel like I was inside of a FREEZER. I traveled in a wooden winter sweater plus a scarf on my hair just to show you how cold it was. The best part was when I pushed my chair backward the guy who sat behind me told me that I spelled his coffee on his lap, I told him that's because the seats were too close and the flight attendant kept dropping coffee on my feet and purse each time she walked in the hallway you see how tightly it was. We purchased food she dared give me half cup of coffee and when I asked her for milk, with a nasty tone she replied that" WE DON'T SERVE MIKL EVER IN THIS FLIGHT" EVEN THOUGHT YOU PAID you are not entitled to ask for anything, flight attendants were men and woman, the skinny woman looked like she had a hard life with a froggy voice and very nasty.

Level packed us like a box of Sardine. Thank God nothing happens to us while we were in the air, imagine that your bones got broken before you fall down. We reached Barcelona we all have our feet swollen and it took days to get to normal.

My ticket was a GIFT with Iberia not to travel your LEVEL 0. I demand a full refund.
