Not necessary
January 11, 2016

The sites are so commercialized that it makes this an annoying shopping experience. Besides, AAirlines now gives me their lowest fare guarranteed. No need to be with Travelocity.

We booked with travelocity earlier this year and had to unfortunately cancel our reservatiom due to an unforeseen health circumstance in the family. At the time of cancellation we were issued credit to reuse within 12 months of booking date. When we finally decided to use the credit we were mishandled and given the runaround on the phone multiple times and for hours at a time. After we finally got through to a supervisor and attempted to rebook he basically said that we can only use the credit towards one flight, forfeit about 1/2 of our credit for that flight, he was unable to help us upgrade seats or accompdate our loss in any way and he still wanted us to pay $300 penalty out of pocket. He tried to blame the airline for this and when we called the airline they told us that it was travelocity that was imposing these restrictions on the credit. When i requested to speak to his supervisor he placed me on hold for over an hour and finally hung up on me. Worst experience ever! I will never use this booking service again and will make sure i post my experience on every travelocity review site i can including facebook tweeter and instagram and tell all my connections about these corrupt practices. I will also report travelocity to the BBB. Good luck doing this to others Travelocity!

Deceitful practices
March 29, 2015

When I ask for two beds, I expected to get two actual beds. When I called to complain that we had got one bed and a pullout sofa, Travelocity said that it was acceptable for the second bed to be a sofa bed. The springs in the sofa mattress were so uncomfortable that my 17 year old daughter ended up making a pallet and sleeping on the floor. I feel Travelocity ( and Holiday Inn Express) were totally misleading and deceitful and because of this practice of misrepresenting what they offer, I do not recommend them. We booked a trip to Mexico with a layover in Dallas at 11:40am our flight was to leave at 6am from STL. We arrived 1.5 hours early to the airport our flight on the board was on time. We made our way to the gate and by the time we got there our flight was "pushed back" to 3pm, and then ultimately cancelled. We had purchased the Trip Insurance for the whole trip, and have been able to get our flight refund -- HOWEVER even though the hotel was advertised as refundable Travelocity has refused to refund the hotel charges EVEN with the Trip Insurance and the flight being refunded. Lesson learned, with Travelocity the Insurance means nothing and they will not work with you.

I had booked a vacation from Chi to FL which had to be canceled due to Covid 19 and Travelocity issued flight credit valid for 12 months. I had to be on hold 2 times for 3 hours until I got a hold of a customer service representative. I searched for my new tickets to Florida with AA and found 2 roundtrip tickets for $512 and it clearly stated on the bottom that the price is for 2 travelers. $230 departure flight and the rest was for the return flight per individual. The representative finally answers and tells me that i need ro pay 512 per person and her system was down and we both knew that's a lie. SCAMMER! I fly all the time and the only reason i didn't book it myself is because you needan agenr to assist you. They are going out of their way to prevent people from using those flight credits and have the most unprofessional and undertrained employees... EXPIDIA IS GREAT A D I NEVER HAVE HAD ISSUES LIKE THESE WITH THEM! I have screenshots of everything as well

Imagine spending $2100 on a flight to HI on Feb 2nd with insurance on it, but your work gets hit with ransomware the next week. You don't know your future with your job because you are down for a month, so you cancel your trip on Feb 22. Now imagine that flight wasn't supposed to be until July 21st, so you gave proper notice and even had it insured. You think, wow I believe I can get a refund after submitting proof, but no. If A happens, they only payout on B. If B happens, then they only payout on A situations. Then allow them to tell you that you can use your credit, but its only limited, and they mark up the flights a couple of hundreds of dollars and then tell you, you can only use your credit one time. So the only trip I could take out of my way was to Miami for $1400 economy AND YOU HAD TO PAY $8 to book it. Does that make sense? You have $2100 credit, the flight is only $1400 but you HAVE TO PAY $8 to book it. Also, you lose $700 of your money you spent because YOU CANT USE THE FULL CREDIT IN THE FUTURE, ONLY ON ONE FLIGHT. This company is trash. United is even more trash. I wouldn't book a free trip with this company to anywhere if all expenses were paid. Do yourself a favor and don't go through what I went through. I still haven't used my credit because I can't find a flight in the US (because that's all I can fly in, according to their rules) to spend the $2100 I have already paid. I tried calling to be reasonable, doing a charge back, they don't mind taking your money, but they sure don't care for giving reasonable refunds.

Better to call direct
October 20, 2017

I use travel sites like Travelocity to get hotel names and numbers, but have found if I call the hotel direct and ask for a promotion, I get a better rate than Travelocity.

Please note: TRAVELOCITY is not reviewing your complaints. I wonder why? The Travelocity Price Guarantee is a Joke! I booked a flight and the next day I saw the exact same flight on their web site 65 dollars cheaper, I filled out the paperwork, Attached a pdf of the website to show the price difference. Same Airline, Flight, Times, Dates, and E class. Please read their website carefully, They claimed that although everything was the same the E class seat I purchased had an additional code on it from the Airline. After several e-mails and phone calls, and an extra call to the Airline, I learned that Travelocity purchased the seat at a certain price and of course can sell them at what ever price they like. In this case. The Airline was AirTran and they did not give Travelocity a "Booking Code" for my flight. Travelocity stated that my claim was denied b/c the booking code was not the same. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! (BTW. I can not choose a booking code other than E). There was an extra code of H and R on my seats and Travelocity could not explain what the code meant. I WILL NEVER BOOK WITH THEM AGAIN! And I plan to tell everyone I know. This has got to stop. So if you are reading this and have had a bad experience yourself. DO COMPLAIN! LOUD and OFTEN until these companies take the hint. I am going to tell everyone I know NOT to BOOK with Travelocity starting with the group I am traveling with.

The customer service experience was a JOKE as well. I guess it is customary for you to wait 15 to 20 mins to speak with a supervisor who "accidentally" hangs up on you. This happen 3 times. What a WASTE of my time!

Using points to purchase tickets - This site is great for booking tickets once you learn the GAME. They do NOT have all flights available and this is frustrating if you are trying to book a ticket using TRAVELOCITY MASTERCARD points. These points are earned by using the travelocity mastercard which has the BEST values around.
The problem is a big one though: the travelocity website will frequently not allow you to select the proper amount of points for a purchase and OVERCHARGES you if you are not aware of what the real point values are. I have spent hours and hours on the phone and there appears to be NO ONE who can fix this problem or who cares about it. They have acknowledged that there is a website issue but done nothing about it. BE CAREFUL.
When you email their customer service department, they have no CLUE what to do except refer you to multiple phone number that are also clueless.
There are other issues with the profiles stored in the traveler main profile. You are asked to put in lots of preference information. This is a great idea and its purpose is so that the info POPS into your reservation automatically... so that you don't have to keep looking up frequent flyer numbers, etc. The problem is that it doesn't pop into the reservation. Travelocity knows this is a website problem too... and have done NOTHING about it.

We had to cancel our trip last July 2020 because of COVID-19. Although there is a GLOBAL PANDEMIC THAT NO ONE COULD HAVE PREDICTED going on, Travelocity seems oblivious to this or simply do not care! The fabulous people at Travelocity, kept me on hold, hung up on me and wasted my time for over 3 HOURS! Different reps gave conflicting information. All I was trying to do was re-book my trip with the use of my airfare "credit." Guess what?! After 3 hours of talking to dead end reps, turns out my credit is conveniently "expired" now. Yet my Travelocity account reflects the "credit" and even shows a button that says "use credit." It doesn't say "expired" anywhere on there. What about an email warning customers about an approaching expiration date? NOPE! That's too high an expectation for Travelocity to meet. So even during a GLOBAL HEALTH CRISIS Travelocity offers no flexibility, courtesy, compassion or even professionalism. They are keeping all of our money which is over $1100! They said I shouldve booked my trip by January 2021, while the pandemic was still HIGH RISK! They dont care about their customers. Once they have your cash they are DONE with you! I will never, ever use them or any of their partner companies again! All the victims should post on their social media to bring more attention to these scammers. #boycotttravelocity

Never again!
May 10, 2017

Travelocity did not notify us of a flight change so we missed our flight and are now our $2,544 to purchase an additional flight home.
We purchased flights from Miami to Peru and back in August for our November trip. When we arrived at the airport to come back to the US we were notified that our flight had been changed from 9am to 7am and therefore we had missed it. We were never notified of this change and became stranded in another country. Upon calling Travelocity we received terrible customer service that was unwilling to help us resolve this mess.We were finally able to secure a flight back home but the cost was $2,544 and we had to wait 15 hours in the airport in a foreign country. Travelocity informed us on one of the many calls that we would be able to purchase and receive our money back later once we explained the situation. This has now been identified as a lie/scam for us. They are now claiming that they sent an email in August notifying us of the flight change. However, we know this to be incorrect because 1. We have searched the entire email account, including spam, trash, etc. and we have all of the emails except for this one (weird?) 2. When we logged into the travelocity account at the airport it still had the original flight information of 9am on the itinerary 3. When calling a different customer service rep they told us they didn't actually have our email in the system to send the emails 4. Upon another customer service call we were told that travelocity doesn't send these emails that it would come from American Airlines
I can see via other complaints that travelocity clearly has a record of doing very similar shady practices as this one.
It is very safe to say that we will never be using travelocity again and have no problem being vocal of their poor business practices. All we are asking for is that they clean up their mistake by giving us our money back. Besides the fact that they have ruined a once in a lifetime vacation for all of us and wasted a huge portion of our time- the one thing they can repair is the money lost and they don't seem to be willing to do that.
Had we not been lied to and told different stories by each representative that we spoke to we might be in a very different situation...
