Everything was working fine with my Stripe account for a year. Then, all of a sudden, they say my uploaded company document don't prove I'm a beneficial owner, even though it says so on the document. The strange way I've been treated by customer service, the lack of logic in the request, and the fact I still can't get my income despite uploading all kinds of official proof, made me start researching if Stripe is scamming people. I found plenty of evidence, like on this site, and many others. I'm collecting evidence that Stripe is in financial trouble and so is making up FAKE reasons why they have to keep people's money. Don't use their service, and if you DO use it now – BUYER BEWARE. Get your money out of there as soon as possible and use another service.
About 30 emails into trying trying to find out if my customer has been charged the $435 they put up as a down payment. Still haven't received an answer. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! Do not let your customers money go into anything this company has to offer!
The Worst Credit Card Processing ever, they blocked My 2 Stripe Accounts for no reason at all and the reason why? Nothing (your account balance will be placed on reserve for the next 90 days,) actually they don't have any reason to do that, i have 0 disputes, and 0 risky payments because of their RADAR feature which is useless if they handle the risk and get your account blocked after that lol.
I don't recommend you guys to risk your business with those guys until if you want your earnings get blocked for 90 days.
Without even getting even a single dispute you are telling me that my business comes with high risk? This is not done. Im still unaware of the transactions you are talking about. You guys do not close a account if the dispute rate is below 1%... i havent received a dispute yet then why are you doing this? Not done
I have a very strong feeling now that is stripe is being very unfair and dishonest with merchants like me. I will tell you the facts,
1. It's been hardly 30 days since we have started using stripe
2. We received total of 116 successful payments before you guys decided to take my account down.
3. I don't know which un-authorized payment you guys are talking about, if at all there are any, you can tell me transaction ids of those payments, i will personally refund them. Now and in future too.
4. You can hold a % of our funds as security deposit and let us do our business peacefully.
The way you guys have closed a well run business is completely unfair and against what you claim on your website. I request you to activate our account asap.
Stripe is really unfair own money I try to get contact with them can you contact with anyone I need to update my current credit card information I did all my documents or documents not going through I send my documents several time no respond back and my money just sitting there
BS company DONT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS
They are a crap company. Take yr business elsewhere!
I just started using them ( i have been in business for more than 5 years and i use another payment processor)
So i signed up and I had a customer who made payment for a product. Soon after they just closed my account saying its a high risk or some BS, and just refunded my customer without any reason.
This company is total BS. If u google them closing people's accounts for no reason you will see what I mean. DO NOT use them in any circumstances.
Their customer service is a joke.
I was having an issuing verifying through their system to change my bank account. They told me an Id would suffice instead. Sent it in and after back and forth of completing what they asked she tells me to repeat the first step(which I was having issues with) makes no sense right? I lost it a whole 3 weeks to go back to square 1? So I declined further help after the rep kept repeating the same thing. Timmy reached out to me to further help, I sent an email back… and it went to their non response mail box. I emailed again, 2 days nothing. I had to go on social media for a response where I wanted a supervisor. Two days more back of forth scheduling a call. Michael called me today where he verified a few things that you can look at my account and was verified already through email just to tell me he'll review and get back to me through email. Again lost it, why is it this took a month just to try to change my bank payout. I wanted a supervisor immediately. He then goes on to tell me he can't message the supervisor cause he don't have a computer and just a phone. What kinda unprofessional nonsense is this? They knew I was having issues and you sent a buffer to call me down and make me go through this endless loop of emails again. He proceeded to hang up on me mid sentence. This place is a nightmare.
I needed this done by Sunday because I have money in this account for my birthday and apparently I'll never get to it at this rate because of the incompetence run around.
Don't bother with them. If I'm unable to get the money in a few weeks. I'll see them in smalls claim for delaying and holding up my money.
Stripe unexpectedly terminated our agreement and kept funds designated for client refunds under their service terms.
Promised refunds have not been made to my client (I speak to them every week), reflecting a pattern where funds are withheld without clear rationale. This practice, reported by many, raises serious concerns about the integrity of Stripe's operations, suggesting a systematic issue that borders on the misappropriation of customer funds on a potentially vast scale.
The lack of effective communication and resolution from Stripe further exacerbates the situation, severely impacting my business and diminishing trust in their services. I urge potential users to proceed with caution and remain vigilant about Stripe's handling of financial transactions and customer support, given these alarming patterns.
I also urge people who experienced confiscation of funds on the pretext of refund that never happened, especially the EU based to report it to authorities. I believe we might have a case here.
Stripe issued a payment and than withdrew it from my account 3 days later causing my account to be overdrawn and checks to be returned unpaid. Customer service hasn't responded in 2 days to multiple emails. DO NOT USE STRIPE!
I'm beyond disappointed with Stripe's decision to close my account for Lucas General Contracting, a reputable business with a solid track record of providing high-quality construction services. I've been using PayPal without any issues for years, but Stripe suddenly decides that my business doesn't meet their standards. This is nothing short of absurd!
I tried to reason with their customer support, providing a detailed explanation of our business operations and addressing any potential concerns. However, they remained adamant about their decision, offering no clear explanation or justification.
I'm convinced that this decision is driven by Stripe's agenda to favor large corporations over small businesses like mine. Their policies are becoming increasingly restrictive, making it difficult for honest entrepreneurs to operate smoothly.
I urge everyone to join me in boycotting Stripe until they revise their policies and demonstrate a genuine commitment to supporting small businesses. Stripe's actions are unethical and unacceptable. We need to send a strong message that we won't tolerate such discriminatory practices.
Be careful with stripe, I lost over 22,000usd. They ruined my life and my small business with the complicity of Comenity Bank. If there are other people in the same situation, let me know so that we can unite and file a complaint because the more of us who denounce their abuses, the better. Car on ne peut pas laisser ce genre d'entreprise se faire de l'argent sur le dos des gens aussi simplement!
I sued Stripe in May for closing my account suddenly because it was "high risk" when some people simply got declined in the mall because they never had funds on a certain card. Regardless, we had over $1,000 in scheduled subscription payments yet to be collected and almost $500 in collected funds that hadn't been paid out and were put on reserve. All of this happened as soon as they closed the account for potential fraud and said we would get the $500 after 90 days if people don't dispute those charges. That way they can cover themselves in the event of a dispute. They never released these funds as they responded to the court saying I was trying to cash scam peoples credit cards. When I responded with proof of my business, our mall contact, and our product suppliers and receipts of us buying our product, they had no response weeks after giving the impression in pretrial court that they would offer a settlement if they found a mistake was made. These people literally scam businesses out of their hard earned money and clients buy holding credit card funds for themselves and as they put it "have every reason to close any account at any time so long as they determine suspicious activity on the account. Stripes lawyer, Doug Alvarez is also well informed in their schemes and plays right along pretending he's doing something and like an innocent misunderstanding may have happened. No this is malicious theft premeditated to steal small businesses hard earned revenue. STAY FAR AWAY!
A stripe manager called me back a few days ago and acknowledged that they messed up and failed on multiple layers with this lockout Stripe still however refused to change the "sign up phone number" on our account which is unknown to us. If we have an issue again, they will continue to call a dead number we don't have access to. It is "their unchangeable internal policy" even after going through five days of verifying who I am. They offered no form of compensation until I pushed the subject three times. Their employee "Dee" who was a lead on my account will be "corrected" on the issue for the future.
They have several days later now offered us $5,000 worth of processing for free, which is around $140 of value. The damages, reputation issues, and cash flow issues from their incompetence easily result in over $10,000 in damages. I pushed back on them again and they raised that to $7,500 in processing for free or around $200 in value. That covers our processing fees for 1-2 days. It's an insult.
I am deeply displeased with this company, their absolutely absurd internal processes, and illogical policies. Your business and ours is at risk in their hands. I continue to strongly recommend seeking elsewhere with Square or any other service, even the ultra evil Paypal.
I contacted stripe about an unknown login in las vegas. Stripe promised they would investigate what happened during that session. I then follow up three days later and ask what's going on, stripe said they were working on it. 11 days after I reached out about the initial unauthorized access, stripe locks me out of my account, freezes access to all of my funds, and refuses to give me access back to my account for unknown reasons.
They requested arbitrary "verification documents" which I provided. They stated great this works, when can we call you to resolve this? I gave them a time. They emailed me the next day and said "we need these additional arbitrary documents" and did not call me. I provided those documents.
We have now been over 72 hours without our account, they are still taking customer payments and have provided no transparency as to what is going on with our account, where our money is if cards that are processing are valid nothing. They have over $20,000 in funds held hostage and the best part of it all is the only way for me to get them on the phone is to call them via a separate account I created just to deal with this issue.
Run far, run fast. Paypal has terrible service but is far superior to this insanity. Go to Square, go to anyone else.
Avoid this processor like the plague! Their customer service is absolutely horrible. You cannot call them you have to wait for them to respond or call and it takes forever. I have had several different responses from support members on asking for my BANK ACCOUNT STATEMENT WITH NUMBERS! We are changing processors.
I have an authentic new and pre-loved women's designer clothing, shoe, and accessory e-commerce store and use Shopify. Stripe is Shopify's main credit card processor, which is free to use. However, If you do not use them, Shopify charges 2% of each sale! I designed my store and added almost 300 items. Which was very time-consuming. After a few days, I received a letter from Stripe stating that they will not support my store as they consider it "high risk." I had to contact them to find out why. As crazy as it is, they have no phone number! You literally have to use chat or email. After going back and forth because at first, no one could tell me why they finally informed me that my store contains designer brand names that should not be resold. Please keep in mind that many of these items are either second-hand or bought directly from surplus outlet centers and I make sure there is not a resell clause. It is no different than 6PM, Overstock, eBay, consignment, etc. There are literally thousands of stores exactly like mine that use Stripe. Okay, if this is their policy, why could they not have had this information available prior to all of my work putting the store together? Now I have to pay $30 monthly for a different processor as well as 2% of my sales to Shopify?
O they have my payment of total of 10.000EUR in which they said they have paid out 1 month ago but nothing recieved. Every email we i have sent them they reply we will get back as soon as possible. Its been 1 month and same reply. They wont provide proof of transfers, they wont start looking for the payment. Nothing, just as same reply to all email. I have now reported the case to European Finical services and hired a lawyer to take it to court. They are bunch of thieves trying to steal the money. And now to further prove my point. They will reply to this message with, "Please contact us at heretohelp email" and when you do, they will not reply and if they reply they will after 3 weeks with we will get back to you. Avoid this company and take them to court if you steal your money
They are treating me as a criminal. I had to use this service to accept a payment from a client with his AMEX card. They made it look nice and easy, everything confirmed, payment successful, the money was DEBITED FROM THE CLIENT ACCOUNT. And then I get an email that my company doesn´t comply with their terms and conditions and the payment will be refunded within 5-7 days. WHAT THE HELL? This is illegal and unacceptable! How can you do this? How this makes me look? I want to sue for this fraud and scam and illegal withhold of money!
I don't recommend it, it's only $#*!! Go to the competition instead. Stripe is not flexible, he blocks all the accounts for no reason! He blocks them so much that they forget their main activity!
BEWARE - Stripe can place a reserve on your account without knowledge, where that will hold YOUR funds paid by YOUR clients for up to 120 days.
This has happened to us today, we cannot access funds that Stripe have been holding of ours for the last 2 months. We contacted Stripe to ask why they hadn't paid us our funds.
Apparently we are in an risky industry where clients may want to dispute their payments (we are a plumbing business), so they review all accounts & if they feel it is a risky business where clients may want to dispute their payment, Stripe will hold funds just incase a client of ours wants a refund.
We have never had a dispute & we give our clients a 7 day payment term after all plumbing works have been completed.
We have removed Stripe from our payment services & will be closing our account as soon as we are able to access OUR money.
My account got canceled June 24th 2022, with $4k in the strip account. It is now July 15th 2022 and have yet to retrieve that money either to the bank or refunded back to the customer. Been emailing with stripe since June 25th but seems like they only respond back 1-2 times and never hear from them again.so i emailed a complaint and now im told it might take up to 35 business days for a response. I highly don't recommend stripe. Im a small business thats getting taken advantage of. Now i need to put up that $4k out of pocket to cover the job its tended for.
Answer: Hi Jon, I'm sorry that you're having trouble with disputes -- they can be frustrating! Unfortunately, when your customer initiates a dispute with their bank, it's the bank that begins an investigation and makes the determination on who gets to keep the funds -- and often times, they do favor the customer. This process is facilitated by credit card networks, but Stripe helps with this process by submitting evidence that you provide, such as tracking numbers. Although we can't make disputes go away, we do try our best to make them a bit easier to manage. As a bit of background on how the dispute process works, the minute that we learn about a dispute from your cardholder's bank, the funds and an additional fee are taken out of our account. In the event that you're able to win a dispute, we return the full amount of the charge and the fee to you, though the fee that we are assessed is not returned to us by the bank. We return that fee because we feel strongly that businesses shouldn't be penalized for disputes that are resolved in their favor. Because it is expensive for us to return those fees in instances were the dispute is resolved in the business's favor, we aren't able to return the fees at other times. In addition, since disputes are a forced refund by the cardholder’s bank and not a voluntary one on your part, you remain responsible for the processing fees for the initial transaction. It can be tricky for even experienced businesses to understand how to handle a dispute, so we've spent time documenting the various circumstances under which a payment can be disputed, and how best to handle each -- I'd recommend taking a look at https://stripe.com/help/disputes to learn more. Please also take a look at https://stripe.com/help/disputes#how-can-i-prevent-disputes to learn more about preventing disputes. I hope this helps shed some light on our approach here. Again, I'm sorry that dealing with disputes are frustrating. Stripe actively dedicates resources to making this problem better and, over time, go away entirely. We can certainly look into your account and these specific disputes, if you'd like, if you send us a message at https://support.stripe.com/email.
Answer: These are the most significant crooks in the industry but they will get what they deserve I joined a group how will exposed there behavior. It is impossible that they can keep on operating and not get arrested
Stripe has a rating of 1.2 stars from 447 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Stripe most frequently mention customer service, high risk and credit card. Stripe ranks 188th among Payment Processing sites.
