My daughter had signed my account up for the Scribd free trial and then stopped using it and didn't cancel it so I've been getting charged just under £10 ever month for at least 6 months if not longer! When I contacted itunes they said only 2 months were eligible for a refund! My daughter has signed up for scribd in the past and they don't even have a number you can call! Also the free trial doesn't even let you have unlimited access!
Over a week ago my account of which I have had for years all of a sudden has no premium
Membership. I read faq and did everything it said to try. Nothing. Put in a support ticket Jun 2. Email response said I would see a response with one business day. No response yet over a week now. Have responded to the original
Email with additional info and still nothing. Can't access my membership that I have been paying for years now. Wth. And before you reply with a uniform we are sorry scribd ticket is *******. Time to find a different service who offers customer service I am thinking. So frustrating not to be able to access my books. One day can and then next it's asking me to sign up for premium
Membership. Seriously after probably 6 years now? Beyond upset. Time to see my bank to stop
Payments. If you can even respond to a support ticket I have no faith you will stop taking my money for something I can't even access!
Hi Rose, we’re truly sorry for the wait, as we’ve been experiencing a higher than normal amount of requests. Our team is working as fast as they can to ensure these requests get resolved. We were able to locate your support ticket and a specialist just replied with more information so the may better assist you. Please continue to correspond with them via email in the meantime and we'll make sure this gets resolved ASAP. Thanks!
Cancelled my trial membership in November yet a charge mysteriously appeared on my March Discover card statement (and perhaps others I didn't notice). Complained a week ago and given ticket #*******, yet no one has contacted me to resolve this. Guess I have to file a dispute with my credit card company. How is this site still in business?
Hi Tom. Sorry about the delay and thanks for providing your ticket number. Your ticket has been responded with information requested. Thanks. -Donni, Scribd Customer Support
Two days after I signed up, all the books I had saved became unavailable. I listened to five books in a two day span, each book had an approximate duration of four hours. Now those books are only available to me after the next billing date. So for the next 28 days I'm suppose to read stuff I'm not interested in, or that I've read before. Almost every title I search for is available on 06-16-2023. I signed up on 05-16-2023, all books I search for became unavailable on 05-18-23.
Hi Albert! We’re so sorry about any confusion here with our library, especially if it caused any frustration for you. While you may find some titles not immediately available, there will always be something to read! Our article here, https://bit.ly/2yPhpTq can help you with this, or feel free to reach out to our support team directly using this link http://bit.ly/social-support-help and we'd be happy to provide further clarification. Thank you! -MW
I was a seller on scribd for study guides. I got a false DMCA against me and had to wait an entire month before they would restore my content. They then audited me, closed my seller status, and now I am no longer able to sell anything in their stores. It's crazy when scribd doesn't even care about it's sellers. If you are a seller on scribd, I recommend extreme caution.
Who are these people and how do they get into my bank account? I have changed my cards 4 times coz of these unknown transactions and my bank had been refunding me for the fraudulent actions by these selfish scammers. Is there anyway we can sue these people? Please respond.
We apologize for any confusion or frustration, Choney. Scribd is a digital reading subscription that brings you monthly access to the best books, audiobooks, news, and magazines. The charge you are seeing is likely for our monthly subscription fee.
Our support team can absolutely help you locate the source of those charges and assist with cancelations and refunds, you'll just need to email us. Please use this link to email support: https://scr.bi/assist and one of our agents will help you within 24 hours -EC
Stay away! I got into their premium membership service on a 14-day trial period. Figured if I didn't find decent material that justified paying a monthly fee I'd just cancel it before this two week trial expired and keep my money. However, three days later I got a PayPal e-mail notifying me about a payment to someone I've never heard of, with some personal e-mail. When I called the PayPal customer service they informed me it was Scribd who had charged me, without my authorisation. Smells fishy, and reading other reviews here made me jump out of it before getting cheated further. Currently disputing the payment on PayPal.
STAY AWAY!
Hi Stefan! I tried to send you a message through SiteJabber on the 26th, but have not heard back yet. I'm more than happy to help with this if you can let me know the email address associated with your Scribd account. Thanks! - Zoë, Scribd Customer Support
THIS IS A SCAM. I never subscribed to it. But they got my credit card number and are billing me every month. They don't have a phone # that they will answer. On the web site you can only communicate with them if you sign on. Of course I don't have a sign on. What legitimate business would operate this way.
I have not been a member since October but they have started charging my credit card monthly. They have time to update their Facebook page regularly with random news updates to promote themselves but no time to respond to messages or help tickets. I have multiple tickets and messages over the past month and they have not responded. Taking money from people's credit cards without their permission is outright theft and fraud and it's crazy that they have done it even to people who are not members. Who knows how much more they have done. Horrible con artists at this company.
Hi Katie. I'm following up on the direct message I left you last week to help assist you with locating an account that is related to the charges you are incurring. Our email is on the message and please let us know what your ticket number is. Thanks! -Donni, Scribd Customer Support
After writing a review and email I was offered an apology and have now been refunded. I hope others who have had difficulties with Scribd can also resolve them. I would like to say thank you to Scribd for their cordiality in responding.
We apologize for any confusion or frustration, Dolores. We are currently experiencing accessibility issues in Italy. We have been working on a resolution however it has, admittedly, taken much longer to discover the source of the issue than we initially expected. We are still working on a resolution and, in the meantime, we are assisting all of our customers in Italy via email. If you already emailed us, let us know your ticket number, otherwise, please email us at support@scribd.com and then update this review with your ticket number so we can help escalate your case. Thanks! -EC
DON"T SIGN UP! I paid for a year subscription and can't use it. I forgot my password. I clicked on the link that says "forgot password", I was suppose to receive an email allowing me to reset my password. NEVER received it. I contacted customer service and all they did was create a ticket. It is 2 weeks later and I still haven't received a n email or anything that will allow me to get access to my account. I paid almost $50 for a yearly membership. Scribd is some $#*!!
Hello Amy. I'm really sorry to hear about your trouble. I sent you a private message on SiteJabber last Thursday but I haven't heard back from you. We strive to answer all our support requests promptly, and I'd really like both help you and ensure nothing's slipped through the cracks. I've looked for your ticket and found one that seems to match—#792581 from "Amy Crews" with a yearly membership, sent on Apr 20 and describing password reset problem—but that one was resolved after a couple of email exchanges between Apr 22 and Apr 27. Please reply to my private message with your ticket number and we'll get you the access you paid for. Thanks! --Jerry Goure, Customer Service Manager
This app is simple and straight forward until you try to cancel your membership. Suddenly you are forced to jump through all sorts of hoops that lead to a dead end. Following the very instructions given by the app itself can't be done because you are instructed to click on a "cancel premium membership" button that doesn't exist. Cancelling membership through the site according to its own instructions, you have to repeatedly click "continue with cancellation" for almost 10 minutes before you are asked why you want to leave and forced to click one of the reasons before able to click "continue with cancellation" once more which brings you to a page not found message. If you mistakenly click the much larger and highlighted "stay with scribd" button during any of this you are immediately brought to your home page and left to start all over. This crap must be illegal.
Firstly I paused my membership during which I still was charged! Since I then decided that the paid version of Scribd didn't give enough value to keep paying every month, I decided to cancel. In my feedback I wrote to them that I just found it unbelievable that they could still charge me while I had paused my membership, on which I never received a reply. Very customer-unfriendly. Every single dollar spent on Scribd after the first month of membership for me was money thrown away.
Hi Carli! I'm sorry for the trouble here. I do see that one of our support reps, April, did reply to you on July 5,2016 and has refunded your charge that occurred prior to the pausing of your subscription. Please let us know if you have any other qusetions! Thanks! - Zoë, Scribd Customer Support
I signed up for a 30 day trial on 31/12/19 and cancelled on 25/01/20 within 30 days.
You charge PayPal $9.89 USD despite only agreeing to ever pay $8.99 USD
I dispute it you lie to PayPal.
I cancel on PayPal on the 7/2 and then log in today and you were going to charge me again
Ok couldn't view books on my phone so your service is not fit for purpose.
I will contact the bank who's credit card you charged and dispute it
I will be asking for a copy of the merchant slip I signed accepting your terms of trade with my signature
04. 03. 20 my ticket number is ******* and I will be listing on all sites that accept reviews what you have done till resolved
Hi Troy, thank you for the feedback. We're sorry for the cancellation difficulties you've encountered, as well as the confusion with the tax charged. I’m happy to help with any questions you have about your subscription.
In some countries or localities, a premium membership with Scribd is subject to tax. Where applicable, you’ll see tax charged on your subscription payment. The amount charged depends on your local tax laws, based on where your payment method is registered. Taxes may be subject to change as determined by your city, state, or country. Many localities have recently initiated new tax rules for online purchases or subscription services. However, your subscription rate itself has not changed.
We are more than happy to take a look at your account and confirm that you have canceled this subscription, and answer any further questions you may have. Reach out to help@scribd.com and update this review with your support ticket number so we can follow up with you. Thanks!
I started using Scribd 6 months ago and rave to all my friends about it. The list of titles is amazing and for a small monthly cost you get to read everything whenever you want. The quality of print is great, the App works a treat and it syncs everything so I am able to read or listen on my laptop or phone or any other device whenever I want. I had been looking for this type of service for years... now I've found it, it's changed my reading world. Great service, amazing value for money. Thank you Scribd.
Hi Nita- Thank you so much for your kind words; we're so happy that you're enjoying your time with us! If you ever have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at help@scribd.com. Thank you!
Scribd.com has a very shady way of dealing with charging and refunding. I would be very wary of them. Poor customer service, no responses to emails.
Why am I not getting my refund for unused premium, when I didn't use it? No one will answer my emails. I feel ripped off. I've sent multiple emails and NO RESPONSE.
Hi Jerry! I sent you a private message through SiteJabber on August 3rd but have not heard back. I would love to ensure that your subscription has been canceled and issue any refunds that you are eligible for, but we need to locate your account and/or support ticket first. Please let us know the email address you used when you wrote in to us, or the ticket number you received. We should be able to find you that way. Thanks! - Zoë, Scribd Customer Service
I tried their service for less than an hour after realizing it was not useful for me, then I cancelled the serviced and de-subscribed. Note to mention that I didn't utilize any file from them.
30 days later I noticed they charged my with the whole fee. I made a reclamation for the fee, but they even refuse to give my a proper answer.
Do not even try their 30 day trial.
Thank you for informing us! We apologize for any delay in support and for any unrecognized charges. We cannot charge for the monthly subscription fee without an active subscription, so it sounds like something must have gone wrong with the cancelation process. If you emailed us, please let us know your ticket number, otherwise, please be sure to use this webpage to email us: https://scr.bi/assist and one of our agents will help you within 24 hours -EC
Wish that there was a zero rating. Cancelled numerous times, still being charged but can't log on to service to use because I do not have an account! DO NOT use the 30 day free trial, you will continue to be charged even if you cancel. Scribd has been stealing my money for a year. Scribd, do not write a bs, double talk. We're so sorry this has never happened before reply to this review. I have been reading the replies to all the dissatisfied customers that you have stolen from. Maybe it's a surprise the first 50 times it is brought to your attention but after that it is just the way you do business. I will follow up with my credit card company to try and cancel the payment. It seems this is the only way to stop you from stealing my money.
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for reaching out. Just to clarify -- it is absolutely impossible for us to bill a canceled or non-existent account as you are not rendering any services with us. We apologize for any confusion on your end in regards to this, and we'd be more than happy to help. Please submit a ticket through this link so we can get this resolved for you right away: https://scr.bi/assist
Scribd is a huge scam. They take money from you after you cancel your free trial. I have been charged for months without consent and when I log in it says that I do not have a membership and there are no payments in the past. Smh don't ever put your card information in there.
We cannot charge an account after it has been canceled, so you likely have a duplicate account resulting in your charges. So we can help you, please email us via this link: https://scr.bi/assist and one of our agents will help you within 24 hours. Thanks! -EC
In the past six months I've had to report fraudulent charges from scribd.com three times. Each time I would report it and get a new credit card with a new number. That company would make 5-6 small charges of $9.99 each of those three times. I have no idea how they got my cc number in the first place as I've never heard of them before this started. Also how in the world are they getting my new credit card numbers? I have to cancel my business Capital One and wait for a new one each time. Trying to figure out now how to completely block them.
Hi Damian. We're so sorry to hear of the trouble here. We are happy to assist here and can locate any unauthorized accounts with the last 4 digits of the card and the dates of the charges. Please email us at help@scribd.com with this information and we can get started. Thanks! - Zoë, Scribd Customer Support
