Start by saying it's a low cost course, (which it is at $5.95) then hit you with cost after cost. For example $29. To email certificate, then another $15. Times 2 to notify the organizations that need copies. There were other costs if you aren't very careful and turn them down. So frustrating and it seems to me deceptive.
They advertize a $25 course. AFTER you've provided your credit card number they tell you they need another $29.95 for their server to email you your certificate of completion. You don't find out about the additional $29.95 charge until AFTER you've made your $25.00 purchase.
It's shady as hell, even if it technically isn't illegal. Use someone else who is upfront with their charges.
This driving school sent unsolicited mail to my address without my consent. What's worse is that they do not conceal the contents of the message, and in this case, another person living at my residence picked up the mail and read TRAFFIC CITATION INFORMATION in BIG BOLD FONT as well as the details of "Careless Driving." I will go out of my way to avoid this traffic school and I will use someone else.
This business is a scam. They are all out to get more money from you. Got 11/20 and was asked to pay another full amount for a retake which was not posted on their website.Safedriver.com is a waste of precious time. It is all a scam to get you to pay more for nothing.
The site charges $25.00 for the defensive driving course, after you pay up front and complete the course... it then offers to email you your certificate immediately... for an additional $30.00 and then goes onto warn you that the postal service loses mail all the time and that you might not even receive your certificate if you decide to have it mailed to you... so you'd better pay the extra email fee and then add another guarantee on top of that for $14.99 so that it'll reach your email no matter what happens... that's the only way to make sure you get it.
Disgusting business practice.
The test part is pretty straight forward, how ever upon attempting to process the certificate they attempt to have you purchase add on after add on. Would not recommend this company.
The sign-up and advertising is very misleading. They advertise $25 and that the certificate will be emailed to you -- but the email is an additional $30. Other online courses are much more reputable. SafeDriver does NOT show you BEFORE you pay the $25 how much it will cost to have it e-mailed. Others will. Do yourself a favor, save money, and take another course.
Also -- don't believe the ShopperApproved reviews they have - those are bought and paid for.
When you have completed the payment method page you go to a page to add extras. When you submit payment for a course the website malfunctions and tells you that you need to correct information, but it has already charged your card. If you review your information or re-enter it and click on the complete purchase hotspot it will charge you again. Here is the scam. It never advances beyond the page that tells you need to correct errors. So, Each time you hit the complete payment; it charges you. After you have given up, check your credit card. You will find multiple charges for the same purchase. Good luck trying to get your money back. I guess I'll find out on Monday as they are only open from 9-5 and per other reviews tend to not be very responsive. It would be great to provide a receipt or other proof of purchase but since you never get past the payment page you never get a receipt or confirmation. In fact, if you don't regularly check your credit card transactions you would not even know that they charged you multiple times until you get your bill and wonder why it is oddly higher than expected.
What a scam, you sit for 4 hours and I clicked that I didn't want the Completed certificate sent to me, I opted for NO extras and I still was charged 2x $26.95 and $25.30. When I called up to resolve the representative told me that was to send the certificate in 1 day. Go to a traffic attorney and spend the $50 then you are not wasting 4 hours on the weekend taking this ridiculous class. I called up my credit card company and they took the charge off!
Took course. Lost 4 hours and 37.00.
Allstate did not honor the discount even though it states in bold letters in the heading, "ALLSTATE Driver's Defense Course"
The website us actually "defensive drivingcourses.com/allstate-auro-car-insurance-discount-defense-driving/ This is a third party, however, it appears as an official allstate site. This sounds like a class action lawsuit. Zero Stars!
PLEASE CONSULT WITH YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY BEFORE... TAKING THIS COURSE.
Said it was the shortest class the law allows. Another company said it would take 5 hours. I am 7 hours into the class and still have another 1.5 hours. Started with a 10 minute time out and has another one in the middle of the course. I highly recommend either paying the ticket or fighting it in court.
They ask way too many authentication questions and then lock you out of your account if you miss too many(you have 90 seconds to answer), then when you call to unlock it they quiz you to reopen it. I am sure if I would have failed, they would have used it as an excuse to charge me again. If I knew it was this tedious I would've just gone to the class in person and been done with it. I am afraid they are going to try to charge me again for my certificate after reading the other reviews. Very shady and misleading.
They are not honest about the cost or process up front. You must order and pay (in addition to the $25 you pay for the class, for your driving record and receive it prior to starting the class. When you finish the class( the one you pay $25 for) there is another fee to get the certificate of completion. The class itself is good, but they need to be honest about the cost of everything and the order that you need to work upfront. The website outside of the material is poorly done and not user friendly. They would not have to pay so many people to answer customer calls if they were honest upfront and put a better designed website in place.
It's not just the $25 they advertise, they then charge you $30 to get a emailed certificate, the course takes all f-ing day, and you cannot just take the tests and move on - you have to wait 25-50 mins PER section and there are 13, and it constantly tests you with 90 second pop ups to make sure you're still there and upsells you constantly. There has to be a better one.
Terrible. Do not try this, guys. Rip off. I don't mind it when they disclose it. They wanted $29 to EMAIL the certificate after I finished it. Not fair. I hate people like this. Greedy $#*!.
These scammers will not reply to any emails, I sent affidavit 9 days ago and three emails and nothing. Can't finish course. Warning! Ripoff! I will report to the right people in Texas to drop this site! Stay away!
I paid to take the Driving course, I paid to have my certificate deliver to me by FedEx, I paid to have my driving record e-mail to me and this was not the case. Because of their delay now I have to plead guilty to a traffic violation and pat a fine of $200.00
Scam... $5.95 Special on the class. My butt! Ofc you end up paying $30 for the certificate or else its like you never took the stupid class. Then DMV has to get notified or else it will take a month to get a discount and for every click you have more charges until you end up paying $70.00
I was allowed to retake the test after my initial critical review. Online businesses must operate with trust not rip people off. Don't hide under T & C's make it plain and visible on your front page. Thank you sitejabber for providing this platform.
I will be bringing up their model to the Texas Board of Licensure. It is an online course with no way of getting results online without a payment of an additional fee. The cost of the course isn't 25 but closer to $90.00.
I would not recommend this course for anyone in the state of Texas.
Answer: I stayed on hold for over 2 hours waiting to talk to someone and then finally gave up.
Answer: My certificate was mailed to me. I asked for it to be emailed to me but it was mailed to me. At least I got it though I guess. They are taking wayyyyyy too long to send my certificate of completion to New Jersey DMV. I can not work until dmv gets my certificate and takes the 2 points off of my license. Amazon is going to fail my background check for the 2 points! Meanwhile I've been a Delivery Associate (delivery driver) for almost 2 years for an Amazon DSP (delivery service partner)company. Suddenly my driving record got flagged because the dsp company I was working for lost their contract with Amazon, I am trying to work for another company now. How am I supposed to pay my bills without a job?! This place is holding up my ability to work!
Answer: Most insurance companies honor the course for a discount however to be sure please contact Progressive to ensure their acceptance of the certificate for a discount.
