Roomster

I recently had great experience with www.roomster.com. My son was moving into New York City and needed a place close to his campus. We looked together at the ads that were posted on the website, and in the end we found a great place for him along 3 other young adults that are all going to the same school. I found www.roomster.com very easy to use and I believe it is a trusted website for students and others to use and am very happy that I found a good place for my boy.

The only reason I list one star is they won't let you list zero... biggest scam ever. They do list that it renews automatically but I can see how it creeps up and renews if you don't cancel it as soon as you start it like I did. 30 days is enough to see if it was a good as billed. What a joke - there are supposedly 'new' listings added all the time but when you click on it he/she is looking for a room 7/2012! I have a place close to WDW and am looking for a roommate who works at WDW or Universal. There is a photo of a girl in front of the Epcot globe - I'm thinking could be a good match so I email her and never hear back (right age range, and all other info exactly the same as mine) never heard back. They must seed the site regularly with these bogus ads to keep suckers like me paying the monthly rate before we cancel.

It's very inconvenient that I have to pay to see rooms. If you want to charge me once I see something that I'm interested it that's fine but you block more content than any other room search website I've tried

I heard about this site through my boss and checked it out, was very happy with the number of rooms they had available and it was convenient to find a room in my budget. Will pass the word along to people I know looking for affordable rooms to rent.

Kind of ridiculous how annoying the process is to get an account, and even pay just to receive messages as if this was a dating website. I will admit aside from those the website is beautiful and easy-ish to navigate

Tried to sign up and even paid for the fee to list my place and find a roommate. The next day there were a series of charges for hundreds of dollars each. Now I'm waiting 3 weeks to get a new card in the mail. So needless to say I'm not a fan. I highly recommend you avoid this like an abusive meth addled ex.

After a horrendous experience on Craigslist I tried out Roomster and I wish I knew about it two months ago. Trust me save yourself a migraine and get a short-term subscription it will make your life so much easier their site is very easy to use and resourceful.

Found Roomster through my friend’s recommendation when I was looking for a roommate. Site was so easy to use and not expensive for a membership. Definitely recommend to people looking to find roommates online. Next i will use roomster.com always.

We used Roomster last fall to find a suitable apartment for our daughter to move into when she started a new job. The many different filters helped slim down the results, and she was able to find a couple nice girls to room with, in a safe neighborhood as well. We heart Roomster :)

If you are over 40 and looking for a roommate beware. I have been a member for almost 3 months now and still haven't found anything.The same advertisements are recycled. When people find a roommate they don't remove their Ads. I am going to have to end up going to an agency in NYC.

The user interface on here is lousy, the requirement not to have any numerical characters in posts is bogus and draconian, and the fact that one must pay in order to view, send, or reply to messages makes this an overall shoddy experience.

I'm on a laptop, I'm not sure if it's my wifi or the site, but it does tend to glitch and I always have to sign back in or verify myself by typing in my phone number over and over again. Otherwise, so far so good.

I had this roommate who thought that he was seriously a warlock. He would start chanting all this really freaky stuff... I think it was Latin or something. I was always cleaning the dishes, bathroom etc. and he would come out of his room, that stank like cheap candles, and I'd ask him to help out with the chores a bit. He said that the stars weren't aligned correctly or something stupid like that and that we were in deep trouble if he didn't cast some stupid spell. One day I was just really busy and was like "Hey bro, can you cast a cleaning spell on this apartment?" and he FREAKED OUT. I have a black belt in karate though so that got solved right away. Next day I went online to look for other places. Roomster had a ton of listings that were extremely well priced so I figured id give it a shot. Couldnt be happier.

In a world full of scams Roomster was a godsend. I recently moved for work and was looking for a place on Craig's list but every lead turned out to be some type of scam. I hesitantly joined Roomster but that hesitation soon dissipated as I saw what a wonderful service it was. Helped me find exactly what I was looking for without any hassle!

The process of finding a match on roomster was intuitive and easy - but this whole deal about subscribing is not upfront and clear. Only when hitting the transmit button of my message, when it won't transmit that the customer is taken down the snaky, windy, dark rabbit hole of "You have to subscribe to use our service to actually DO something about the match. It is so easy to display this message clearly up front. IThe whole experience would be so much better from the customer's point of view if you dealt with that simple message up front.

Had been looking for a room to rent for quite some time now but Ive never had any real luck. Always when I finally thought that I had found a place that would be good for me something last minute would always come up and id be left starting from square one again. I got desperate and starting posting online asking my friends if they could help. One person commented suggesting to use Roomster to find a room and Im glad that they made the recommendation. I found a really nice room to rent in the area I wanted to live in for a price that is really great for my budget. Would come back if I need to move.

Yep, I too fell pray to their shady 3-day subscription business scam. Beware they don't have any problem taking a month's worth of subscription after agreeing to give you a '3-day subscription' despite the fact that you might have canceled your subscription after so rudely becoming aware of their practice. They suck, blow, etc. etc... Dont use them because they only care about trying to suck money out of people. There are better alternatives, one being craig's list.

Your page allowed me to send messages, but did not inform me that IA would have to pay to have access to responses. I found that out by asking tech support. Also, I wanted to sign up for 30 days but the only option is recurring.
Better communication upfront will prevent you from looking disingenuous. I am certain you weren't trying to trick me, but I bet you have a lot of abandoned carts because of these facts.
