I will never use ring because they give all your private videos to the police without your permission. Nothing but scumbags
Having problems with doorbell 3 the alerts and video it works sometimes then it'll stop giving alerts. Do not buy this
Today Thursday 5-30-2019 West Covina Police Department posted a feed also known as a BOLO regarding an arrest and the suspects had thus ring and they are attempting to locate the owner. Being retired from law enforcement and a Detective in Burglary Specialist I placed the BOLO on the Ring. Immediately, I received an email from the Ring Community stated it will not be posted. It did not meet the guidelines. With that being said I contacted Techinical Service. I spoke to the representative Aaron who was exceptional in listening g and understanding the frustration of someone in the department did understand what a BOLO is. Aaron did everything in his power and he related that his colleagues are not going to place the Police BOLO because it violates policy. I asked if they can speak to me so I can understand their policy and reasoning. I have an extensive background in Detective investigations and I wanted to ask their expertise. Unfortunately, they would not place the BOLO. So with that. Being said, I canceled my annual membership with the Ring and I will take down the Ring and use another company. It is very unfortunate that the Ring and their customer support has gone so low. Just want to share that they think it is important to post a video of a coyote running across a lawn versus when Police is asking for the community help! Wow
So mad I chose a Ring camera. Just a silly toy that only works once-in-while. Never when something important happened.
No recording without monthly service... also motion detection on cameras so slow most actions are missed... poor service and product...
I responded via email to the customer service rep that requested me to do so and yet still no response. I think Nest is my next choice!
I have tried to give this the device the benefit of the doubt, thinking that one of the many updates will eventually resolve this crappy door bell. Someone rings the bell and I can not get it to activate but if i go to live view miraculously I can see who is at the door. I have given it every chance. It comes down this weekend!
You can't to the stream most of the time! It's useless! I just a camera that WORKS! Why sell such junk! These don't protect ANYONE!
Third class app dons use sab chor hei ye zaroorat se jada pesa wapas mangte hei aur pesa na do to faltu ki panelty laga te is aap ke wajhe se mera civil kharab ho gaya hei aur coustomer support kabhi milta nhi hei isne
We have owned a Ring doorbell for over a year. I got it for two reasons. First so that I could answer the door if no one was home. Second, we had had someone ringing the doorbell at all hours of the night and the police recommended that we get it so that it could record who was doing this and provide evidence to the police.
First thing is that the application is VERY SLOW. If someone rings your doorbell, you will not be able to answer before they leave unless you already had the app open or they just stand in front of your door for a long time. The Ring ads show someone answering their door with the app already open! Do you really walk around all the time with one specific app open on your phone!? The helpful folks ar Ring said I needed a "booster" although the front door is close to my wifi emitter, so they sent me one and it made NO DIFFERENCE in the speed. But there is another problem. After the first few months, they ask you to pay for your video to be stored in the cloud. The price per month was reasonable, so we got it (if you do not, then there is no way to see who rang the bell after the fact). There was an incident of someone disguised with their face covered ringing our bell and the police asked us to keep that recording as evidence. Since we were paying for the cloud service, we thought that it was being saved. But suddenly it disappeared! It seems that RIng decided one day, without consulting its users, to delete all recordings that were more than two months old! And so they deleted our evidence! And could not recover it! When the thing stopped working because it was no longer touching the backplate, we had it taken off and our old, reliable low tech doorbell put back on. CAVEAT EMPTOR!

Trash. Disconnects often. I have other wifi dedicated hardware. Ring is the only hardware that has disconnection issues.
I purchsed a ring doorbell for security... my car was broken into and the ring only recorded them driving away! This thing has never worked as they claim it does... all of the reviews for it are bad. I think we as consumers are being decevied. IT is time for a class action law suit. If you are going to make a product you should not be able to sell junk and claim it's a great system when you alreadY know it's junk and does not work. TIME TO SUE FOR ALL OF THE ROBBRIES AND STOLEN PACKAES AND WASTED TIME TRYING TO GET IT TO WORK.
The worst. Had 11 mo' s NEVER ABLE TO CONNECT TO OUTSIDE PERSON! LIVID WHEN I READ THE REVIEWS THAT NOW MATCH MINE! I'LL BE SPREADING THE WORD ON THIS TRASH.
I can answer the door quicker then the ring shows me who is there! Piece of crap! 90% of the time it won't even show motion detected for 15 minutes.
Im very disappointed with the Rings Security Camera product. Since 2021, I owned a Ring Door Pro security camera and a backyard Ring flood light Security Camera. For some reason both camera started malfunctioning last month. Now both camera started has a few second gap in the beginning every time it's start recording. Also when it raining or fog outside, the background Flood light camera just started to have a fog mist when recording. My backyard flood camera is under a cover under of my roof to keep it safe from any rain or bad weather. I called Ring customer service about the defective camera. Twice they indicated they will email my on my camera issue and replacement out come. I have not heard from them. I then call them the third time and they informed me they can only give a 30% discount on my next camera purchase. I informed them, why would I want to buy another security camera from them if it only last for a couple of years. I informed them would you buy the same product again that malfunction in a couple of year. They replied, with no and they understand and feel bad. I told them that sound stupid to buy something again that broke down before. Make no sense. I also have another brand security camera for 4yrs with no subscription bc it's has it own SD card memory. I never had one problem with this camera and it was way less than the ring. Ring customer service would not replace my malfunction cameras so I told them I will cancer my subscription and throw their camera in the garbage. I'm better off with my other brand camera. Do not buy Ring cameras unless you willingly to continue to buy replacement cameras in a few years.
Every step after you buy will be pain. They should not be able to be called home security. Bad customer service. Just a series of oops we're sorries.
I want to tell everyone reading this that they should not purchase any product from Ring as they have a terrible support system with long waits on hold, and that they do not stand behind their product. I purchased a Ring video doorbell about a month ago and have run into problems from the beginning. First, the message that someone was at my door and the ring did not work. Contacted the company and they "fixed" it but after a couple of days, the same problem appeared. The notification message appeared only occasionally when the doorbell was rung, and frequently, the notification message took as much as 10 minutes to appear on my phone. Again I contacted Ring, worked with a support person and to my surprise was told that they no longer supported my phone event though it was powered by Android. Their website said such Android phones were appropriate for use with their products, but apparently they had changed the rules and did not post it so I was stuck with a doorbell that was not functional. I was told to contact my phone company for help. I worked with the company for 2 hours and it seemed to be fixed but the next day the problem reappeared. They I received a message from Ring that my trial period was over and I either paid up to get my videos or they would not allow me to view them. This final racket made me disconnect the doorbell, and throw it away. I tried to email the company but they do not have that service. I lost $200 on this deal as I could not return the doorbell. While I lost money I am glad to be rid of their product and would advise everyone to not purchase their products. They do not guarantee the product and if you need help, good luck with getting through to their support team. I wasted a couple of days on phone hold just to be told they could not help me.
Hi Aurelee,
Our website does state that Android devices must be version 5.0 or newer. Also, we do notify our customers about the cloud plan on our website (https://shop.ring.com/pages/protect-plans), in your Ring app during the first free 30-day trial of our cloud plan, as well as in your email about this service. I apologize for any miscommunication but we will work on providing even more transparency to our customers as we can in the future.
I would love the opportunity to resolve the motion notification delay you are experiencing on your smart device. Please email me at Bilan.jenkins@ring.com so that we can take care of this once and for all.

I have owned a Ring Doorbell Pro and Ring Floodlight for about 7 months. The motion detection on both is good and with a paid subscription you save 6 months worth of video clips. The ability to "Live View" on the phone has also come in handy but it is hit and miss most of the time.
The main issues that I have are these:
1. As others have mentioned the time it takes to answer motion or a ring at the doorbell is way too long. The person ringing your doorbell will be long gone by the time the actual video pops up. I almost never have the image pop up in time for me to actually see who is ringing the doorbell yet alone speak to them. So for that it is useless.
2. Both my units have randomly disconnected for unknown reasons and to get them to reconnect was a test of patience and perseverance. Wifi signal was fine and I had even bought an extender.
3. Even when no motion has been detected and you just want to do live view it is a hit and miss whether or not the video will pop up quickly or not... some times is does but more than likely it won't and as stated in 1 if it has already detected motion or someone has already rung the bell than it is almost certain to not come up in a timely manner.
4. After only 7 months the doorbell has completely died. Dead. No lights. No anything. Dealing with customer support feels like pulling teeth. "first test the voltage at the door". It was fine (20VAC). Try disconnecting the unit and reconnect after 10 minutes. I had it disconnected for days and tried to reconnect nothing. I found out by searching the net there is a hidden micro-USB port on the Ring Doorbell Pro and I tried hooking it up to the PC and still no power. They are finally going to send me a replacement but it has been a lot of back and forth e-mails or chats and the delay in between responses is horrendous.
Overall the motion detection and auto recording is nice for peace of mind (usually after the fact to prove something) but for wanting to see and respond real-time not so much. After having owned them for a while I think, knowing what I know now, I would have tried other options first. Hopefully now that Amazon is acquiring Ring we will see some much needed improvement in the future.
Hi Richard,
Thank you for this feedback and I'm sorry your experience with your Ring device did not turn out to be what was expected. I see you are in the process of getting a replacement device sent out to you. I would love to connect with you and make sure everything runs smoothly this time around with your replace device. Would you kindly reach me at Kandyce@ring.com today so that we can improve your Ring experience? I would appreciate your time.

Answer: Most annoying product ever. Doesn't work but almost does. This makes you constantly fool with it thinking you maybe possibly actually got it to do something similar to what they advertise. But in the end you will be back to square one with a pricey piece of crap! Then after hrs of listening to customer services b. S. you realize you've been had. But it doesn't end there. You end up on sites like this trying to help others from making the same mistake. And trying to figure out when this hell will end!
Answer: It does not work the way it is presented on T. V. The inability to immediately respond "LIVE" to an event renders it useless.
Ring has a rating of 1.3 stars from 773 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Ring most frequently mention customer service, door bell and live view. Ring ranks 166th among Home Security sites.
