I posted on Reddit about a dislike of some well known people. Out of the blue I received a mob of very hateful teenagers maligning my posts and even posting personal information about it. I have no clue how they found personal info but they were very malicious and it was bad. On Reddit, if you report people for personal info, harassment nothing is done and the victim gets banned.
The level of hate and evil these bullies have isn't normal. It is a cesspool of very deranged disturbed people and something needs to be done about this website. The mods don't care and people there are cowards who sit behind computers just trying to ruin people.
A forum moderator falsely accused me of being an "alt" account", and when I responded to explain that I was not, I was banned and muted. The accusation was clearly based entirely on this individual's personal assumption, and doesn't even make sense contextually.
I am now left with no recourse to contact anyone or overturn the ban, as I am 'muted'. Ultimately I am pretty angry about being falsely accused of something with no basis. I have never been treated like this on any other website or forum I have been involved in.
Steer clear of this forum.
I have been a member since 2007, recently deleted my account. I didn't so much leave the community as the community left me. There were always trolls and disagreement - it's the Internet after all - but in the effort to clamp down, the cure has been so much worse than the disease.
Simply awful site. George Orwell would be proud.
I can't even freaking post for 6 minutes after having to redo my question twice already for not meeting it's specific af criteria of a question. I just want some freaking help with my problem and reddit won't let me ASK.
They've gone from a breath of fresh air: an alternative free speech community run by the people to one that's run by big business.
They started censoring many people on politics grounds using flimsy excuses.
And to top it off, their redesign sucks and took the speed and charm of the site away. It's sad that this happens over and over again to every good community.
Not only is content awful now, the interface is impossible. The website constantly logs me out and refuses to send me a password reset email. I've had to create like 9 new accounts. Lemmy is great though- try lemmy.world. Highly recommend
My account was banned permanently banned from Reddit after my husband got banned. We obviously live in the same house, have the same iCloud login, and even our accounts have the same email (mine)
I cannot even get anyone to speak with me! No one responds to my support requests, I tried to make a new account and it got banned again- I had even asked about making a new account and still got no response. They are blatantly ignoring me and I'm pretty sure it's because they don't believe me! It's a company run by losers who want to make peoples lives difficult just because they can. Power trip.
Probably the best website ever. I like to call it the clean version of 4chan. If you don't know what Reddit is, check it out. It's like crack cocaine for your mind. There's sub communities for every interest, and can modify your feeds with the stories that interest you most. Actually though, it's more about the community and comments than the stories themselves. There's a great culture here.
I just opened a Reddit account and attempted to post an opinion contrary to those on Wall Street bets. I was immediately informed that I was a bot and my post would not be allowed. They are apparently opposed to freedom of speech and have no place in their website for alternative opinions. Wasn't Facebook punished for blocking accounts for people in support of soon to be impeached Ex-President Chump?
Reddit operates by giving ‘Moderators' their own little kingdoms to run anyway they want. And Reddit has no oversight over these little dictators. Unfortunately some Moderators abuse their role, have their own agenda or are uneducated and don't understand how to be impartial. This Moderator model will ruin Reddit. Hopefully soon.
/instagram
Obnoxious vitriolic trolls, some of them are moderators
/youtube and /twitter
The mods don't even approve your comments half the time
No point posting here, it's either trolls, or your comment doesn't even get posted
Very hard for beginners to get in. They have bots in the name of moderators. Most useless website I have encountered. All sorts of good content but without any means of even replying to people. The only thing I can do is vote in polls.
I have been a paying customer for two years, never posted any controversial, just liked stuff and commented rarely.
Today I was perma banned. They gave no explanation, no warning, nothing.
Forgive me if I sound salty, I suppose I am. I expected just a small shred of decency and didn't even get that.
Reddit used to be an awesome place but it has turned into an echo chamber with little tolerance for people with differing views. You can spend years building up karma and communities just to have them ban your account on some minor issue. If you are a community builder you are honestly just wasting your time on Reddit. You own nothing there and can have everything taken away from you on a whim.
Is there a way to describe how this website is other than to say: as if it is a banana republic or a bad nightmare? There seems to be an illusion that there are rules and sub-communities, but in reality the site seems to be run by autocracy or oligarchy. You really don't need this! In addition to illogical bots, there may be some very rude or aggressive moderators as well that seem to be inhuman. If you want to get a taste of how life would feel like living in a dictatorship, then try to join it - otherwise you'd be much better off staying away; far, far away.
I wrote this to the administration, and that is not accepted. Copying and pasting what I sent them;
I have been blocked, my email is benand,,,,,@ This woman has been using my email for countless months. When I signed thinking I might like to get involved with the community. I sent a detailed message explaining someone was using my email. I am now been accused of impersonating of someone. I just signed on now with my business account. Still blocked. I'm letting you know how I have been treated. I have never in my life impersonated anyone. I'm 74 years of age. I am not perfect, but that is ethically wrong. I am reporting this and have no desire with your company.
Trying to post and of course, will not be accepted.
I never purchased as I was beginning to purchase. I checked my emails and sure enough, someone is using my email.
I turned off "ask to open in the app"option off in the settings but without fail every 10 seconds it will ask you to go in the app and if you say no it will close whatever you are looking at and make you click on it again or go back to the beginning. And then the app wants you to sign away your privacy rights. Reddit is terrible. Website designers need a new career
Recently joined Reddit because it advertises itself to be a space where freedom of expression and diverse views and opinions are represented unlike the other social media platforms. Incredibly, intelligent and thoughtful comments (if not positive and critical, yet in good taste) are immediately sent to a bad karma vote list. Meanwhile, I have commonly seen pornographic (literally) comments heralded as positive Karma. I just don't get it. Just like FB, IG and to a lesser extent Twitter, Reddit is only concerned with Likes and nothing too thoughtful or realistic. The ultimate in Low Brow Social Media.
Totally under the pressure of the current idiotic government. Does not allow freedom of expression. Not enjoyable because what readers are served on a palette is what the reddit wants and not what people want to share and discuss! A flop website. Do not waste your valuable time of this stupid useless website.
It's score is going down day by day and it will soon have to wind up and leave, for sure.
A platform that enables abusers, bullies and those who want to spread misinformation while simultaneously putting in very arbitrary rules to punish those using the platforms properly. Any and all attempts to reach administration about any issue will be most likely met with a bot, and only answered with vague and unhelpful responses.
Answer: Absolutely cancer. Unless you're an NPC without a brain of your own.
Answer: Use sitejabber, much better. Since they don't make you jump through hoops to post a review and they don't censor negative reviews. TONS of bad sites online. TONS of corrupt sites. Clean up the internet. Break up these monopolistic companies.
Answer: Don't trust reviews from reddit because the site is censored to get rid of negative reviews. Censored by corrupt moderators and admins.
Reddit has a rating of 1.4 stars from 528 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Reddit most frequently mention free speech, social media and front page. Reddit ranks 499th among Social Network sites.
