OkCupid has a rating of 1.9 stars from 646 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with OkCupid most frequently mention fake profiles, customer service and phone number. OkCupid ranks 646th among Dating sites.
Many profiles are fake on there. Even local profile members are fake, often rude and use vulgar language. Some profiles message you once and ghost you the rest of the time. Bumble App is better. Plus your phone number will have problems logging into the App, website. So much time wasted on fake people that been on the App for years.
Just a procrastination tool. It's fun if you don't take it too seriously & keep your expectations low. If you're good-looking white dude from the US, it will certainly be a good ego boost since you will be getting a boatload of "likes" and matches from hot foreigners from South America, Asia, Africa, Dominican Republic, etc. I'm going to assume that +10,000 "likes" is a lot for a man?
If you travel internationally on a regular basis, I'm sure OkCupid would be a 5.
Got the free version to look around. Within days i had 26 likes, so my curiosity got the better of me and i subscribed. Turns out they were all from other countries, mostly africa. Get a different dating app, unless you want to import someone from a 3rd world country.
Terrible! Requires a subscription to everything! I searched a lot, and finally found the best site. Here it is https://clck.ru/32fMar
As a male, I met several women a few years ago on OK, but recently it is totally dead and does not produce responses. I believe many good people no longer use the site.
Male to female ratio is very high on OkCupid. Too much competition for a man. Women get inundated with messages. The only replies I got on OkCupid were from obvious scammers.
The worst dating site EVER. They send you matches based upon questions you answer, however most of the matches they send you are fake. When the matches are not fake, they're flaky people who are hurt and punish others who are seriously looking for love. If not either of the previous two kinds of situations they just want sex or to sell sex/sexual content and every match that is placed for are mostly an hour or more away so that way you will pay for the premium service to see people close to you. You cannot see who like you either so that way they can force you to buy premium for their EXTRA PREMIUM price. They also push ads on you so they can make money with those clicks as well. Greedy selfish unrelenting scum who have no backbone or interest in helping people actually meet their true love. Just another company ran by tagged/hi5 and yet another scam site of this sisterhood of garbage companies.
Okcupid is a fraud!
Stay far save your money. I joined for free, they let me browse a little, I received and sent few messages. Suddenly all stopped working. The only option they gave me was to subscribe. I was cautious and I got only 1 month subscription for 34 euro (in the end they charged 38 euro).
In less than 24 hours I got 208 likes and many messages. A dream, no? But to see who liked me or messaged, Okcupid asked me to pay more, to browse profiles they asked to pay once more. All was around upgrades and money. In 3 days experience on the site, I saw only 10-20 profiles. Same profiles, every day, no search criteria by location, age, etc. I just could not get in touch with anyone. Of course, I smelled the fraud. I immediately contacted their customer support asking to cancel as soon as possible my subscription and my profile, explaining why.
Is the first time when I was scammed online. I have to admit the site is well done to trick and still your money. I should've read reviews before I paid.
How and why this site and fraud continues to work legally? They should be taken to the court.
I took their 50% offer and bought 1 month for $25. If you are looking to throw money away, this is one place to do it. It's a rotten company and rotten service that doesn't help its customers ~ it just takes your money and you are on your own. Like most dating apps, you have to pay them if you want to see who likes you. So who liked me? Kenya. Somalia. Philippines, Thailand. Indonesia but not a single person from the US, much less from Colorado where I live. The day after I paid to subscribe, their customer pool dried up and never came back. You're lucky if 2 or 3 new ones pop up daily. This website/service is a terrible and total waste of money. Give your money to a homeless person instead.
1st time reviewing with a video so bare with me appreciate it also they want me in there program (sitejabber) cause I've done so well so pretty much thx to all
At best this site is very suspect. They make it very hard to use the free version. When you try to see who "likes" you, you are redirected to purchase premium. When I tried to unsubscribe, they made me answer a bunch of questions & then was asked to enter my password. When I tried to enter my password, it would not let me...
I haven't chosen anyone from there yet. However, I think it's the best app I've ever seen, because I'm able to write endless description about myself to make sure only the relevant ones will send me a msg haha :) also happy to have a match percentage there and actually I go through this often before I reply to anyone
I recently got out of a long term relationship that I actually started from meeting someone on OK Cupid about 4.5 years ago, it was a great site with great features which were mostly free with some paid options. Coming back in 2022 I see all that is gone, you now get a handful of likes a day, no way to search by interests, or at all for people nearby and pretty much everything is locked behind a ridiculously overpriced paywall. It's sad to see that a site originally made to help people connect for low to no cost is now just another corporate shill designed to squeeze cash out of lonely people.
Another garbage dating app that just wants your money. You have a better chance of getting ran over by a bus than you do meeting anyone on this app. A bunch of zero's that think they are royalty, overweight, loads of kids. No thanks, if your stupid enough to pay for this trash, you'll get exactly what you deserve.
Wow! If ever a dating site was absolutely pathetic, OKCupid is it. My experience was that it's pretty much a scam. I made a profile, set my parameters and started swiping. After only 2 days the site showed that I had 67 people that had seen my profile and were interested. That should have been my cue to move along. But, with poor judgement in hand I paid for a subscription to see who these people were. Keep in mind I had set me age and distance parameters.
Once I paid I started scrolling and within seconds ran out of potential matches within those parameters. To see if changing those parameters made any difference I set them to all age ranges and no distance filter. I couldn't find anyone within my state that OKCupid had indicated was interested in me. The only conclusion that I can draw is that OKCupid knowingly allows scam accounts and individuals well outside of the set parameters to show interest in you in order to get you to sign up. I deleted my account and lesson learned.
I put in many efforts to find a gem (I mean a real and adequate woman) on OkCupid. When I upgraded to premium, my account was suspended and I lost her. Customer service was unresponsive. I switched to
http://J4Dating.com
And I have a feeling that I finally found my favorite site with top-notch women, so far I really like it. But I'm really mad at OkCupid - it's clunky and phony site. Banning and shadow banning of premium accounts for absolutely no reason is a common "business practice" there. It sucks when you lose your contacts all of a sudden.
I was a moderator once when OKC was usable, now I can confidently say that virtually all users of the site either come from 3rd world countries trying to scam western men or obtain their personal information, prostitution is rife and the rest have serious mental illnesses and should definitely remain single.
I also have retained gigabytes of screenshots to back these claims up.
Any dating site,, hell any site linked to the GoDaddy Web host group are renowned for operating and enabling scammers so just avoid at all costs.
These include any site with Cupid at the end, Plenty of Fish and a long list of others.
My IP was banned for trying to report these scams which tells you all you need to know.
OkCupid is a dating app worth checking out. For the most part I have been disappointed with my dating app experiences. I have been pleasantly surprised with the results from OkCupid. There seems to be an endless supply of genuine women interested in a relationship. After several weeks of using the app for free, I decided to become a subscriber. I have been satisfied with my decision.
I started to receive many message from people but I never signed up. When I tried to unsubscribe, it took me to their website that I need to sign in with my email info. WTF
I have used the free version in almost all services. I like the algorithms of this site, as it helped me find a nice person. Although often finds not the best. I hope for algorithm improvements, because I really like this service.
Answer: It's good only if you absolutely feel the need to burn your money and time! Seriously speaking, don't repeat my mistake! I had wasted plenty of time and emotions there trying to find a gem among rubbish. Just go to a decent and efficient site with good reputation and you will have plenty of choice there as long as you are a normal and adequate person. I'm using https://j4l.com/402007 And I'm content with it. I found several ladies that I really like, I had meetings with them and now its the time to choose for me!
Answer: OLC is so so... Most of the woman are in dream land and seeking Mr USA. And are not going to meet you in person 95% of the time... You really need to weed out the B. S & players... And that is simple to do... If they can't meet you in person in public with in one week. Drop them... Don't waste your time... Next!
Answer: Terri - this is what I recently sent in about OKC. I will answer your specific questions at the end of this. I have heard many complaints about OKC and scammers. But I AM NOT HAVING ANYWHERE NEAR THE PROBLEMS THAT OTHERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT. I am on several sites, and I experience about the same % of scammers on all. 1) it is so easy to spot a scanner - he wants to use email or text/phone right away. Is this really a problem? I immediately block. 2) if he is in Africa or any other 3rd world nation, I immediately block. I filter my messages so that I do not receive messages from anyone who has answered less than 100 questions or is at least an 85% match. Scammers are so obvious. Also, I note that most scammers claim to be "god-fearing christians," or "looking for an LTR or marriage." I am an atheist and very liberal and state this in my profile and my questions. I know what I am about to say is very offputting, snobbish, elite, etc., but I don't think scammers hit atheist, well-educated, and skeptical people as much as they do others (christians). Sorry, but I did say you wouldn't like that. Scammers are on every site. I have been following the sites and the complaints about scammers. My conclusion, based on my experience, blogs, and LOTS of research, indicate that every site has about the same amount of scammers. Sites that provide almost 0% info on potential matches (Zoosk, POF, tagged, Chemistry, Match, ourtime, etc. - all worthless for matching, IMO) do NOT have fewer scammer than OKC. I am also a moderator on OKC. WORD: Do a GIS on every picture on every profile on every site. It will tell you if the pics were stolen from a commercial source (models, actors, etc.) or not. I have had a ton (sometimes 3/week) of dates from OKC, and I do not believe any of these guys were scammers. Finally, if you know how to spot a scammer, what difference does it make how many there are on any site? I am 59. Yes, I have many very young men contacting me. I just say "You are too young, but thank you for your interest." If they reply, I block. As I stated, I've met tons of great guys (and of course, creeps) and had a lot of dates. I have a lot of correspondence before the date, and make it clear that I am looking for LTR and NOT FWB, NSA (what a load of crap). I have not clicked with anyone yet; but the, I am an atheist, free-thinker, liberal in Texas. Not a lot of guys hit on me (after 18 months on OKC, I only get about 8 guys/week hitting on me. Check my profile: I'm not gorgeous (LIB75002) or email me: joannar75002@gmail.com). I will be happy to help you further, if requested.
Answer: If you use care and caution it's safe. Women are subjected to more weirdos but you can block them. Spammers are going to get through and they will usually ask for your email or phone number. If someone interests you message a lot before you meet and always meet in a public place. If someone insists on more than you're comfortable with move on.
Answer: You have to understand on clear thing: THIS SITE IS A 2 IN 1 DEAL. People are vetted based upon: 1) their overall attractiveness + 2) their ability to PULL IN MORE USERS I have found an UNDERGROUND OKC and have made some friends in that with my last account, but then admin began asking me strange questions about my experiences there that sounded alot less like SITE PATROLLING and a lot more like I WAS FOUND OUT AS A NON INSIDER among that group. I have a running list of accounts that are "sponsored" by the site. I was among the very first to report that okc was OWNED BY MATCH.COM to be used as its social outlet site. HOWEVER AS OF 2 DAYS AGO A MUCH BIGGER ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE: Match.com BOUGHT POF /Plenty of Fish and has bought into /partnered with TINDER. By years end ALSO be on lookout for Ashley Madison to be brought into the fold. WHY ALL THIS: to cut radically the price of the investment & upkeep of all those lab created profiles. BY overlapping data bases and also ADMIN STAFF... The operating costs should have al least a 40% reduction which means 40% more profit. Just so you know Toni, look up Passionate Composer. I will write you back. REAL PEOPLE DO THIS. You may like the profile too. I was among the first to take advantage of the social site move.
Answer: Yes, I have had this happen a lot. People just want your phone number because they don't want to use the site. Then they want to ask questions like where you are from. I guess so they can research you. I am real leery about giving out my email and phone numbers. All kinds of scammers out there.
Answer: Yes, it is completely free... You pay for the more advanced features, but over the last ten years or so, I have met my last 6 lovers through the site ( though oftentimes it turns out that we already knew the same people... The matching algorithms are simply_that_ *good*!) and have never given them a single penny. ( though honestly, I really should, if only out of gratitude!) Give it a try, it really is head and shoulders above the rest of the sites out there...!
Answer: Not really, before Okcupid went full on liberal wasteland they used to release their numbers/stats and it was never bad to begin with. I believe it was like 60/40 depending on how you set up your searches. In my state it was close to 50/50.
