The idea Musicstack is able to stay afloat is a miracle. There are no checks and balances, and stock is routinely incorrect. Sellers list items for sale that aren't in stock, and they'll take days and days to tell you so. It's relatively easy to read a seller's fill rate and feedback, and sellers find ways to get a buyer's attention, then let them down by over-grading or just not having items in stock. Sellers can get away with this because you just can't leave feedback for sellers here. Buyers who know the basics can open Paypal claims, and win those claims, but sellers can keep acting like dunces because the feedback system is so bad. Keep in mind, I'm both a seller and a buyer, and have been for years, and I'm surprised Musicstack stays in business with competitors like Discogs around. If anyone remembers Gemm, you'll see a lot of similarities with Musicstack (Gemm is now out of business for being an extremely poorly run company). I highly recommend buyers and sellers using Discogs, or even eBay, for your purchases, because Musicstack is a disappointing joke of customer service, seller tools, communication, and vinyl culture.
I had very few sales, I figured few were looking for the genre I was selling. I complained to David Stack that I should be able to see a list of all my sales, he blew up and suspended my account.
I am so glad he did because I found Discogs; way better if you have rare records, you can easily identify the pressing. However, the best part is way more sales, I was getting inquiries as I was building my inventory.
Music Stack may be good for mainstream, but it seems like its small time to me.
You are correct that MusicStack is a small operation. In fact, it is ran by one person, and that person is me. I operate a very hands on operation and run a tight ship and don't put us B. S. (from buyers or sellers). This way I can keep the integrity of the platform extremely high and keep nonsense out.
In the 22+ years of operating Musicstack I have only had to suspend a handful of sellers and that usually was because these sellers where found to be dishonest, or sellers that were extremely rude, demanding or who otherwise provided terrible customer experience and/or service. Unfortunately, you fell into the later categories.
I purchased a cd from a seller via Musicstack. Cd never arrived, found it impossible to complain about seller, or get a refund. Steer well clear.
I'm sorry to hear you had a negative experience shopping on MusicStack. This is by far not the normal case as we have sold millions of orders over the year with very few problems.
I wish you would have contacted us before you left a public complaint about MusicStack (which we are only seeing now years later) so that we could have help mediate the issue. And brought about a positive resolution to your situation.
This is MusicStack's contact page.

Try it!
So if you want to make an enquiry about a purchase, don't bother.
The page your reference above is the exact page you need to use to get in contact with the seller who placed your order with. If you have an inquiry about a purchase we feel it is best that you contact the actual seller who is shipping your item out as they would have the most information about your order as opposed to us (MusicStack) who simply passes your initial order information on to the seller.
If you are unable to reach the seller you bought from or they refuse to help you (which is very rare), we are happy to mediate or help you get a refund.
Have just made my first purchase through Music stack and it didn't work out. Bought 1 LP Procol Harum, A Salty Dog from Vinyl Rocks. There's a large C shaped scratch though the 4th 5th and 6th track and it really clicks. The seller has not changed status to shipped so I can't leave feedback and by the looks of it you can't contact Music stack. Obviously the seller knew the album was badly scratched so deliberately kept status as 'not yet shipped' so I can't do anything about it. Have mailed them but he doesn't want to know. So avoid Vinyl Rocks folks. They are dodgy.
Whether you buy from a seller through Music Stack or from the seller directly, you'll do well. Music Stack is very customer pro-active -- if you have a question for or problem with a seller and you get no response from the seller within a reasonable time, Music Stack will lock that seller's account until you get a reply! I've found hard-to-find music here; their search engine takes you into all formats (vinyl, 45s, CDs, DVDs, tapes) and all over the world.
So happy to hear that you have been finding lots of hard to find items on MusicStack!
Thank you for leaving us such an excellent review and for noticing our seriously we take customer service from our sellers. That is correct. If a seller doesn't (or refuses) to contact you within 5 days we feel that such a seller should not be listed on our platform. This keeps out all the sellers who can not provide good customer service and keeps only the best seller selling on the platform.
Answer: Yes, Individuals, collectors and record stores are all welcome to sell on MusicStack.
Answer: You are always welcome to contact me, Dave Stack, the owner of MusicStack if you are having order problems or contact reach a seller. I will make sure that you either your record/cd or you get your money back. We run an honest operation with honest sellers on the platform.
Answer: You are more than welcome to sell on our website, but would probably do better selling on ebay or discogs. Our site tends to work better for larger sellers.
Answer: Please take a look at all our feedback on this site, Trustpilot and other review sites and let that be your guide. You will see that most all of our reviews and feedback are positive. We have been in business since 1997 and have helped millions of music collectors find music they have been looking for.
Answer: Since 1997 our platform has sold to millions of customers. The majority of all those transactions have been positive with no problems. But like Trevor S. Said each seller on our platform is independent and responsible for the how the transaction goes. It is best to look at each sellers feedback ratings and stats to see how they have performed with other buyers and that will give a good indication of how they will perform with you. Thankfully most all sellers on our platform are great sellers who will bend over backwards to make sure you are happy. And in the few rare instance where that doesn't happen you can always file for a dispute with PayPal to get your money back.
Answer: Betsi T. Is correct. If you ever have a problem with seller, I (Dave Stack) will help make sure you get the resolution you are looking for or your money back from the seller. Since 1997 we have help millions of buyers get the music they have been looking for and I can easily say that 99.99% of all transactions have been positive and gone according to plan, and those that didn't the buyer got their money back.
Answer: If you ever have a problem with a payment or communication between yourself and the seller I (Dave Stack, the owner of MusicStack) am happy to help you get in contact with the seller to make sure your transaction goes smooth. MusicStack has been operating for over two decades and our sellers are very honest and want to make sure you have a good transaction with them and receive the music you pay for.
We specialize in helping you buy rare vinyl records, hard to find LPs and out-of-print CDs.
MusicStack has been in business since 1997 and has process millions of orders and helped a countless number of people find rare records and CDs all with no problems. All sellers have feedback, seller statistics and a star rating that tell how good they are. The great sellers shine brightly while subpar one are easily determined before you buy and can be avoided. Your review only leaves me wondering that if we were so terrible and such a joke why you stuck around for so many years?
