Bad experience. Pickup time was 6 PM. Enterprise was closed at 6 PM when I arrived. I had to go all the way to the airport and get a different rental car from a different Enterprise store.
Not sure where on the earth would I have been had the Kayak not guided me. I recommend it to all the ones who have been looking to find places for tour
I can get the same price quotes from the airlines websites as I can from the worthless Kayak and Cheapoair etc. No discount from them. What a f##king waste of time.
I rented the car for my trip and when I got there, there was no car and I had to pay hihher price to rent a car from another rental company. Kayak charged me for insurance and didn't refund me the money. Don't recommend kayak for anything.
If there was less than one star I would give that.
BAD SERVER CE AND OVERCHARGE!
Double charged CC for hotel room, will not respond to emails. Do not use Kayak to book a hotel, they book via getaroom. And they do not respond to emails. Getaroom does not respond to emails either.
Don't book through kayak. I was scammed and they took no accountability and didn't even respond. I booked a hotel for 6 nights through them. I showed up at the address and it was not a hotel! It was an apt. Building and the woman in the kiosk at the entrance said they were not a hotel and they had had other people show up with the same scam and they had also booked through kayak.com. I called the phone number for kayak and first I was disconnected 3 times (or hung up on?) and then left on hold for one hour and 7 minutes. I literally left the phone on hold for one hour and 7 min. After "James" had said "I would like to help you with this, let me put you on hold for a minute while I look into this." He came back one time and just repeated what I had already said and said again, "let me put you on hold while I look into this.". After one hour and 7 min. I hung up. I also emailed the company and got no reply. Meanwhile, I had to call my credit card company to cancel the credit card because the hacker had my card info. And I called my neighbors to alert them that some hackers may have been searching for addresses of people who were out of town to rob the house. I am wondering if kayak is run by scammers they way they responded!
Its a great service because you can look up everything about travelling conveniently in one website and that really simplifies the travel process for me.
Naw, obnoxious commercials did it for me.
Can't wait to see you tank, since there are... apparently...bigger problems.
I cannot recommend this site. I made a reservation for a car with Dollar with Kayak but I was completely surprised by completely different prices when I finally picked up the car. I really don't have any confidence in their quotes, so why use it?
When I wrote an email complaining about the discrepancies (I will mention these at the end for the details-oriented persons) this is the completely unhelpful answer I got:
Hi, The prices you see on KAYAK should be the same as what you see on the booking site. However, it looks like that travel provider may be having issues with the accuracy of the data they are sending us. In any case, we will use your report to help us improve data quality with them. Thanks for letting us know about this! Kind regards, Walter KAYAK Systems Engineer
The details of my complaint:
Dear Sir/Madam, The rates you quoted were not honored by Dollar. When I asked for an extra day, the discrepancy between the price you quoted for 7 days ($205) rose to $294 with the extra day! The attendant said Kayak might have had problems figuring taxes, Whatever the reason, the end result is that I was seriously mislead by Kayak. This was extremely disappointing and I really don't think I can trust the rates kayak quotes anymore; I think it i better to book with the rental companies directly. I would appreciate if Kayak could compensate me, in some way, for the discrepancy.
If I could give zero stars I would. Kayak is the worst customer service I have dealt with! We were not informed that our flights were canceled across the world and now they are unable to help us rebook our flights back to America together! KAYAK BELONGS IN THE TRASH CAN DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM.
I was NEVER notified of travel date changes. I made this discovery by chance because I happened to call the airline. SAS Airlines could not help me because KAYAK booked the travel. They further informed me it was KAYAK's responsibility to notify me of changes. Trying to get through to KAYAK took hours both in the U.S. and long distance from the Faroe Islands and no remedy was provided. Rather than cut my trip short I canceled tickets. Since returning home in early July, I've been on hold for hours trying to get my refund. Agent Vicky G. Continues to say the refund was successful and it's my bank's responsibility to find it, however she claims there are not routing details or a confirmation. My bank NEVER received the refund, there is nothing for them to track. Other agents confirmed their inability to communicate with accounting other than sending unanswered emails and they can't give me the accounting # or a supervisor! With one exception I have NEVER received a call back, despite being told I would. Customer service has been outsourced and they operate off a circuitous script that gets you NOWHERE. My belief is that KAYAK has no intention of refunding me my $1242. 11.
kayak.bestticketfair.com
Had to call and be sure that they were processing and when I did its because a person needs to tell you the restrictions and I was surprised with no carry on cause my ticket price was to low. Then a 5 minute hold for them to call the airline and find out how much to add a carry on. Like I'm going for 4 days without clothes. $250 more include unexpected price increase 10 minutes later. They claim that this is the fair is the fair the airline charges and they say that you cannot actually purchase tickets this cheap (why are they available?) so their website is a lie. They tell me this is the charge they must add extra regardless and nothing is refund able.
Then cause Im mad and used the f word they hung up. I used to work in a call centre and if you're not being called names someones just expressing their feelings not directed at you don't be a baby do your job. Price of the ticket was $396 but if I want carry on its another $250 USD, Im Canadian could have used a Canadian site and paid $500 Canadian but now I will be like $750 if they don't add on more later. DO not use this site if you like your money. They dont tell you upfront you have to call. They tell me most of this cost is cause the ticket price changed, in just a few mins, this is how they screw you, less hassle for the few extra bucks. Also this was American Airlines I will be buying direct from west jet from now on they have never made me this mad. I pay twice this price for the same flight but carryon welcome luggage welcome and no BS.
I have spent over 30 minutes on the phone the final quote is $637.02 USD which is $863.70 again I could have only paid $500 Canadian. Now as im getting off the phone she tells me ill be charged in 2 parts tax on top of this so now my guess is we are at a $1000 and I should have just purchased from west jet. She didnt like my approval email as I said since Im taking it up the $#*! go ahead and do what you got to do.
Hi All,
Frawd Company. Worst experience ever of my life. I wanted to let you know that I booked a flight through KAYAK agency from Chicago to India. Upon cancellation of the flight, KAYAK was supposed to refund my amount which 789$ after deducting 75USD from actual prize. But, they are just neglecting the process and unresponsive while answering to this thing, either customer care or exchange department don't pick call or they say some random $#*!ty reason to not to refund. Checked with Air India airline with refund policy, and upon checking air India is refunding the required amount but KAYAK company do not. Please do not do any booking through this site ever. And if they say credit is given for your booking and you can re-book with the same airline, do not trust them thay increase charges accordingly which is 5 times higher then the actual flight rate. For me they said 1800$ one way from Chicago to India. I want me money back within next 5 days and I am going to escalate this message to all over social media right away and let everyone know about this frawd. Please do not book anything either flight, nor hotel nor rental car as well. I would rate them 0 if I could. Agree on all other reviewers comments as well that this KAYAK agency is big frawd.
Big Mistake. ALERT!
I booked my international flight with them and wish I did not. They are partnered with travelocity. I received a double email from kayak saying my flight on travelocity was being processed with the same ID#. Then approximately an hour and half later I receive an email from travelocity stating that the reservation could not be processed with the same ID number. I then receive an email the next day in the morning from kayak with a different travelocity ID# saying my flight booking on travelocity has succeed. I then receive an email the next day from travelocity through kayak that they are unable to ticket my reservation with the original travelocity ID#. I call customer service and talk to someone from India. He tells me that I booked twice which is not true. He then asks me if I want to cancel the original travelocity ticket#. I said I did not book the reservation twice. There is a glitch in your system and I do not need a duplicate reservation at the same time. I do not know where this 2nd travelocity ID# came from and it is worrisome that I will be double billed or my reservation is incorrect.
There is not any customer service. I booked my flight and paid but didn't get any confirmation email.
I can not find my trip on their site. That is tiruble.
I've tried to search recently for a flight and couldn't make a dates selection - horrible way to present start and end dates of the trip on the same panel.
I wish I have read reviews on this site before booing with kayak.com. The service was horrible. I experienced the same problems as other people here.
I booked a couple of international flights and received promptly confirmation. However, the next day, I receive a couple of emails sent at the exact same time, one saying my payment didn't go through and I need to contact them, the other saying my bookings were canceled because they couldn't contact me to verify the payment info. What a surprise! I never receive any phone call from them and the email informing about the payment problem and the email canceling my bookings were sent at the same time, what is the time for me to call back?
I called their phone number and had to wait 15 mins to talk with an Indian guy that i could barely understand his accent. After giving my trip ID, he put me on hold for 15 mins and the line was cut off. I called again, talked with another Indian and was transferred to Payment dept and again the line was cut off. I called back the third time and asked not to transfer me but the guys I talked with ignored my request and hang up the phone. I couldn't believe that kind of customer service exists in the hospitality or any industry. Shame on you kayak.com. I never do business with you again.
I recently booked a trip to London through kayak.com. The fares were in line with other sites and about $100 cheaper than American airlines. When I purchased the ticket through KAYAK, it sent me and email from another service, airfares.com, that said in addition to the ticket not being fully refundable, there was a $350 change fee and a $450 cancellation fee if the ticket was canceled or changed before the date of travel. Unfortunately I was unable to use the ticket so I contacted British airways to cancel. British airways told me that they could not cancel my ticket because it had been issued through an agent who they identified as International Travel Consolidators. British Airways could not provide me a working telephone number for their agent (International travel consolidators), I later remembered the airfare.com email and called their offices. This all occurred before the departure date and time. Airfare.com told me that there would be a $450 cancellation fee which would net about $110 refund, but to get that, I would need to pay them the $450 cancellation fee then wait 3 to 6 weeks to receive back the $450+$110 refund. If I can't even get a portion of my original payment back, I certainly wouldn't send them more money.
Kayaks position is that they are only a search site, not the ticket agent, so they have no responsibility or control. Based on that, I would say only use KAYAK as A price comparison, then go directly to the airline or someone like Expedia, a travel agent or someone reputable who you can contact for service.
I booked a room through Kayak and cancelled within 10 minutes of arriving at hotel because they said it could take between 30m and 1hour for the reservation to hit their system. I was so tired that I decided to pay a bit extra and checked in through the front desk. I received an email from Kayak stating the room was cancelled within the allotted timeframe for a full refund. The problem is the refund never showed up. The email instructed me to contact Get-A-Room.com which handled the reservation through Kayak. I have contacted them three times and sent them the email showing the time and date and the refund has not been credited close to a month out from the cancelation. Get-A-Room now tells me they have issued the credit but it could take two (2) billing cycles to hit my bank. I called Kayak customer service and the customer service rep looked up the reservation and said that was close! As if to imply that somehow I could have avoided this by not canceling so close to the deadline even though it met the criteria for a full refund. Unbelievable! She informed me that Kayak is a meta-search company and does not take responsibility for what their partners do. Buyer beware :))
Definitely not giving the best prices... Quite a couple of time a saw way better deals provided by other services. Ended up booking with them
Answer: Occasionally the airlines may offer a cheaper ticket, but this is uncommon. I find that occasionally at Qatar airlines. This may occasionally happen if you have their club membership that may offer a discount.
Answer: Kayak.com is a legit company. I have bought dozens or tickets from their site. I always start search from them. In one case, they helped me even though I purchased a ticket from one of the vendors on their website who would not help me.
Answer: I would reach out to Kayak from their website. I am sure they will try to help you.
