Unbelievably inadequate, substandard care. Why do they get away with it? Because you can't sue. But, report to CMS, JAHCO and board of medicine. The first two will trigger a investigation, the third will show up on the physician's record.
94 year old Pt discharged after hypotension episodes. No physical therapy ordered. Patient fell down when trying to get in his home. Suffered a compound fracture of elbow with bone sticking out. Got antibiotics by mouth and 3 STAPLES in his elbow. Standard of care is a physical therapy evaluation prior to discharge (1st admission) and IV antibiotics for a compound fracture.
Substandard care. Pompous and arrogant emergency room physician in Walnut Creek, CA who chose staples over sutures for a 94 year old man.
Out-patient care is good if you doctor hunt and find a good doctor. Some specialist are good but most are mediocre at best and when you are really sick (me) and go to the hospital that's when it all goes down hill. Dirty, old hospitals with terrible "care". They run tests, kick you out the door and mean time still suffering. NO diagnosis or misdiagnosis. Trying real hard to switch plans. Need to wait for open enrollment. Hope I'm still alive by then.
I was about 13 weeks pregnant at the time and was finally being seen for my first prenatal appointment after scheduling it a month in advanced. I received my first ultrasound and was told I must be mistaken about being pregnant because my doctor saw my uterus was empty. She went on a rant about how common miscarriages are and how that's most likely what's happened blah blah blah. She sent me to radiology to do an official scan and within seconds the technician could see a baby with great heart beat and fetal movement measuring exactly 13 weeks and 5 days. After collecting myself after what felt like an emotional rollercoaster I left and immediately felt like I should change where I receive my healthcare! Why in the world would you confirm a miscarriage or insinuate your patient is delusional about being pregnant with zero proof?! I am still very upset about this!
I'm never really sick, but now that I am, I can't reach my doctor or ANY doctor at that. It's like a nightmare, and if I make it out of this alive I will be so thankful. It's as though you're left fending for yourself with your healthcare. You have to guess a lot because they don't answer you back
I recently joined Kaiser Permanente, so my reviews may change as time goes on, but I have to say I had a wonderful experience with the phone line. While trying to register my computer crashed and I got essentially locked out of my account because I didn't make a password. The website was really bad about managing this, and after not being successful with any website password resets, I finally called. An employee named Eric Tavares was so helpful and understanding of my situation. He quickly turned a stressful situation into a positive one. Thank you so much!
I have the skin problems, itchy and joint pain on my wrists and knees. During five months, other regular paycheck workers or doctors only made referrals. But within one week, Dr. Niufar with his thorough treatment and duty of care of the excellent doctor who cleared all of the problems with kenalog injection and Prednisone medication. I hope that Kaiser keeps hiring miracle doctors like him who cam provide the healthy living to the patient who trusted the health system like Kaiser. Thanks for the treatment.
I'm on Medicare. My first year I was on a Kaiser Advantage plan. Costs was pretty good but my experience with GP's and PT's wasn't very good. I decided to change to a different Advantage plan. Unfortunately, they don't accept any other insurance plan, including Medicare, so I lost access to my Kaiser doctor, surgeon, pharmacy and current referrals. Kaiser is a closed system only for those on Medicare that will pay for Kaiser and only Kaiser Adavantage.
I've been covered by Kaiser since I was born. There are some things I'd like to change about my plan but in general, I've been very pleased with Kaiser itself.
When the website came out, I signed up right away. It really is so helpful. You can set some appointments in certain departments which is really handy, but at the same time the only reason I gave this site 4 stars and not 5 is because of the lack of departments they offer for online appointment bookings.
The site offers a plethora of options. They have self-help sections, tips, past appointment information, and so many other things. Great site and it continues to add different things to improve the sites reputation and helpfulness.
Kaiser is the worst health care. If you have a choice in the matter don't come here. Lets just get started with my first pcp who said don't worry only white people get skin cancer. Any issues I have are always blown off. Sure they'll send you for labs but if the lab they ordered shows nothing they never follow up. I have had friends and family members who had surgeries gone wrong
Over the decades 3 generations of my family have been a members -both privately and with a group. Your experience may vary greatly depending on your location. I live in a "desirable" area which is attractive to professionals.
Years ago Kaiser made a concerted effort to improve patient relations, and I have seen that effort sustained. If you don't feel a rapport with your doctor, CHANGE DOCTORS! It's easy to do; you don't have to explain why.
I like the free Mail Order pharmacy & the easy email to your doctor. There are also no-cost phone appointments. Really learn about your conditions and medications so you can ask the best questions.
61 year old male. I have been with Kaiser since a child. Currently have my entire family with them and I am appalled at the length of time to see your primary, trying to make an appointment, and hearing back from anyone. Their phone system is one giant loop system. This is not the Kaiser I grew up with. I am amazed the ratings from so called government sources they are 10 out of 10. Sounds like the fox watching the hen house to me. Please dont be fooled try another medical provider.
Kaiser has gone from good to almost unusable, the waiting time for a appointment with your Primary Care Doctor one month plus, it used to be next day. I have cancer and my doctors refuse to do the surgery which be best on the ground of wanting to do no more harm then good and instead suggested " active surveillance". I can not recommend them anymore. It appears they are piling in new member and do not have the personnel and facilities service them properly. Stay away..
I have been treated like a criminal on more than one occasion by Kaiser staff while I'm sick with cancer. I cannot wait to get some other healthcare provider. If it were one bad apple, I could forgive it, but it's a pattern. They are understaffed and the staff they do have are terrible. Their member services do nothing when you complain and they have so many lawyers, it does not matter if there is gross negligence they will support the lying doctors at the patient's loss. If I could give negative stars, I would.
Bare minimum is what you will get. ER doctors walk by you for an entire shift and not even acknowledge you. My 80 year old father who has stage 4 cancer and who can't move on his own was in an emergency room bed for over 25 hours and was not turned or moved regularly. It is so disheartening to watch your love one suffering and you can't do anything about it. Thank you Kaiser for making a bad situation worse.
Good, cheap healthcare - Kaiser has gotten a lot of bad press over the years, but they offer good, cheap health insurance. They have high deductible monthly plans starting at $80 a month for an individual. Although they emphasize efficiency, they doctors are not that bad and do care about their patients. Kaiser is probably best for young, healthy people and lower income families. But net net, good value healthcare can be had by all.
I find it hard to believe that these reviewers are talking about the same Kaiser Permanente I have been using for over 25 years. Could it be different care at different Kaiser facilities? At any rate, over the years I've been hospitalized at Kaiser, had surgery, preventative care, the whole nine yards... and all of it excellent with doctors I liked who would respond to my emails within hours, even on weekends or late at night at a great price with zero ins claim paperwork! What more could you ask for?
The worst. Received 4 bills and despite calling, emailing and chatting with customer service, I was still forced to pay. Prior to our appointments I called and was told they were all covered by the insurance. They will not let you listen to your customer service calls to prove it. Dealing with these people is less fun than banging my head against the wall. If you have any other options with regard to health care I highly recommend you explore them before you sign up with this "organization."
I have had Kaiser for eight years now and I always gave them high marks, but I am now really sick for the very first time and no one here could care less. My doctor doesn't seem the least bit interested in diagnosing and treating my condition and other departments that provide specialized services have long wait times and are completely unsympathetic in getting me the testing and treatment that I need. I will be changing to another provider next year.
Kaiser has worst customer service in terms of appointment and follow up. The average wait time is around 2-3 months to get the appointment with specialists. If you don't need to see any specialists then it might be a good choice for you.
My family has used Kaiser in San Diego for ~3 years. The system and doctors have been great. You do need to be actively involved in your own healthcare but that's not different from most of the other providers I've used in the last 20 years.
Answer: Scam. I left a review of my personal experience on a different posts. Basically they don't mind taking money from you as long as you don't need help.
Kaiser Permanente has a rating of 1.7 stars from 232 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Kaiser Permanente most frequently mention customer service, health care and emergency room. Kaiser Permanente ranks 69th among Health Insurance sites.
