Was pleased with my first two shipments but the third was all tossed inside, broken bottle nozzle leaked through the entire box and over everything. Terrible sticky mess. Also, didn't get the "free gift" it showed I qualified for at $79 and asked that I "select gift". Thought at first, oh well, they will resolve. NOPE.
HORRIBLE customer service experience! Was told do not get the free gift bc a $4 holiday Memorial Day discount that was applied at check out without my noticing or using any code made my order just under $79 so got nothing, not even offered the lower tiered gift offerings.
They also didn't offer to send out replacements of the EMPTY bottle I received and said would get a new one WITH MY NEXT ORDER!? Why would I ever (re)order from them again without standing by this order? Never! Empty bottle and sent them all the photos.
I said would cancel my subscription so instead of trying to please me, Ian just sent me a link on how to cancel.
He could care less on trying to keep a customer. Shame. Although I can continue to buy these products elsewhere, I liked this concept of auto delivery.
Lost a customer over bad customer service. Shame on Ian.

As for how we replaced your item, we remain conscious of every box we ship and try to do what we can to consolidate shipments whenever possible and it saddens us to see that this has impacted your time with us. We also wanted to touch upon the confusion surrounding your subtotal and the bonus item in your cart. The subtotal shown in your cart is comprised of the list prices of all items in your cart. All discounts are displayed in the total discounts portion of your cart, and the total shown at the bottom is the correct amount you will be charged.

Scam

Beware of the fine print because once you buy something they'll automatically sign you up for a subscription and charge you double what you paid before. Too much hassle for overpriced products and the fact that they don't make it clear that you're subscribing to a really expensive service shows the type of company they are. So if you don't want to sit at the post office wasting an afternoon returning items that you never ordered to get your own hard earned money back that they decided to take from you, then I'd suggest to take your business elsewhere. Not to mention unless these products somehow grow hands and clean the house themselves, the price is NOT worth it. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind would spend $65 on a couple of cleaning supplies every month so I'm guessing they make their profit off of signing people up for this service without them knowing which is dishonest enough for me to go out of my way to write this review to warn other people. Total scam and waste of time.

Hi Emily, we do apologize for any confusion about our flexible monthly shipments or our services in general. Having a Grove account comes with two completely customizable features: A VIP Membership and flexible monthly shipments. Individual Product Subscriptions are also a part of our service. As noted upon signing up, a Grove account defaults to process monthly shipments, which can be edited or canceled anytime after your first order. To be sure you're only getting what you want, we'll send a few email reminders before your orders process. Those are sent 7 days and 3 days prior to processing, and you can also sign up for text alerts. If you'd prefer to shop without auto shipments, you can make that change right from your account. Additionally, we can confirm our prices do not change from one order to the next (with the exception of sales, of course), and you can compare all orders from your account by visiting Order History. First orders do contain promotional free items, but that free gift set cannot be combined after that. If you have questions about how to manage your account, please reach out to our team of Grove Guides for support.

Goodbye Grove

I have been a customer of Grove Collaborative for almost two years and never had a problem until the pandemic started. For the last several months, my order did not meet their odious minimum requirements for VIP members. Usually this was because they were out of a product. Numerous inquiries with Customer Service proved to be totally fruitless. I even received an eMail saying they were lowering the minimum requirement, but that turned out to be a lie. My current order was a couple dollars below the minimum and once again they refused to ship it, even though I sent several requests. Banks, credit card companies and even landlords are willing to work with customers/tenants during these difficult times, but not Grove. SHAME ON THEM! I have cancelled my account and am posting this to warn other prospective customers. Most of the brand name products they offer can be found cheaper at other retailers (Amazon, Target, Walmart). As other reviewers have said, terrible customer service - be warned. Goodbye Grove

Way too gimmicky

I've been using "green" cleaners or making my own for over 20 years. Living in a fairly small town, I have a hard time finding some of the products I prefer if I'm buying off the shelf (Method for example). After seeing many ads for Grove, decided to give it a try rather than just ordering the same stuff from Amazon. I'm not a "retail therapy" kind of shopper. I don't "buy more to save more" or get taken in by "if you spend x you get a free y" kind of marketing. Unfortunately, I am clearly not the target market for this company, which is ALL ABOUT this. AND its a subscription service. Every month they throw a bunch of stuff in your cart they think you might like, and you have to go in and manually delete stuff you don't want. If you miss the email, well, they have your credit card number and a box of stuff you didn't choose shows up on your doorstep. Turning off the subscription all together is possible but takes some research.

I LOVE the idea behind this company. More natural/greener products all in one place and a move towards less plastic. But geez louise this is a pushy system. I don't want to have to monitor a system closely to avoid products being shipped. Just not my cup of tea.

Thank you for your review, Jennifer! Grove is a flexible recurring order service by default but everything is completely customizable and up to you. It is most likely that those items were added to your cart because of your Product Subscriptions. You can customize the shipping frequency for each product in your subscriptions or remove them completely by clicking the "x" in the top right corner of the product photo. Items in your product subscriptions will be automatically placed in your cart based on those settings. Removing items from your subscription does not remove them from your cart if they have already populated for your next shipment. Having said this, we will certainly share your comments with our team. I signed up via referral and upon activating my account I was linked directly to my friend's account. I have complete access to her personal billing information, personal address, cart, everything. She, as well as I, is furious about this. I contacted Grove several times and all of my emails and their responses are being sent directly to my friend completely bypassing me. She has reached out and didn't get a reply until she tried on Twitter. Even then, when they responded to her and even mentioned me by name, they still didn't reach out to me about this unacceptable issue, not to mention the complete security breach on Grove's end. When reaching out through Grove's website there is a Required Field to enter your email address. This was completely ignored and is directing all my communications to my friend. It's extremely inconvenient and awkward on my end for being in her personal account. She has also been locked out of her own account due to this. I have never experienced this security problem with anyone else and am baffled by how it's being poorly handled considering the sensitive and urgent situation. While this may be a system error it's still something that requires immediate attention and a full explanation about what is going on rather than simply answering vaguely to a tweet. Incredibly disappointed by this infuriating privacy breach and lack of communication/solution.

Horrible Company

I made a pruchase, loved everything... I received another order which I did not order... they had the wrong email. I kept calling for a return label and could not get one... again sent to incorrect email. I disputed with my credit card company, they issued temp credit until I could get the return label, finally received the label and returned the merchandise. Credit card then rebilled the credit and now The Grove will not issue my refund. They tell it is issued and I check with the bank-nope no credit-then they another associate tells me"oh, sorry, it is now fully refunded"... Check with the bank --nope nda nothing again... this is such a corrupt company.

I love Grove

My daughter and I volunteered for an animal rescue. We raise bottle baby kittens. I feel that cleaning with grove products are safer for these tiny babies.

Grove.co is a total scam. They lure you in with a great first offering and then make it impossible to cancel afterwards. This company is like a timeshare for cleaning products... Buyers Beware!

I'll start by saying I like Grove's products. Both the brands they carry, and their own personal brands. They work well, and I haven't been dissatisfied with my products I've purchased. However, $20 a year for the free shipping when there's an order minimum of $30 is not worth it. If I'm paying an annual fee for free shipping, I don't want an order minimum. Not only that but they struggle to keep items in stock, so it's difficult to meet the minimum order price when 3/4 of the items you want aren't in stock.
Then another issue is that they claim your items will come in a few days. They don't. It takes about a week for them to process the order. Then you need to wait for shipping. Many of the brands they carry (excluding their personal brand) are found elsewhere. I can get the same stuff from Target or Amazon in just a few days, with no order minimum.
The idea of being able to shop for natural products from home is a nice idea, but other places do it as well and they do it much better. Save your money.

I would change the order but they give you 3 days to "review/update" your cart and if anyone is as busy as me... I don't get to non-essential things that quick.

Damaged not replaced
April 29, 2021

I ordered my initial package and received two glass spray bottles. I use one for the all purpose cleaner and a few weeks later I went to use the other one and filled it with liquid and it leaked all over my counter, the bottom is cracked. I contacted Grove for replacement but they would not send out a new bottle I had to put in a whole new order over the cost of the bottle to get it replaced. No I don't need this stuff all the time it's a few months before I need anything else I just wanted a replacement for the damaged item I received in my initial order. They did give me a credit but again I had to put in an additional amount of money in an order to use the credit to get the bottle. I'll go to the brick and mortar stores where people have jobs that are in jeopardy because of places like Grove and give them my business. I've Realized lately that dealing with online businesses is more of a hassle than what it's worth. Better to go in by yourself you know what you're getting you know if it's broken, It was even better you can see the quality when you go and purchase it yourself.

Best products for a green home

I came upon Grove.co probably on an online ad. They have a wide choice of more environmentally safe products for cleaning. So I ordered a bunch of products. However, right at the end of my order, I noticed that auto-shipping of my order would occur. If there is one thing I HATE, IT IS AUTO SHIPPING THAT I DO NOT WANT!
Auto shipping has cost me so much money, time, and grief in the past that I carefully read EVERYTHING before buying.
However, I have to say that when I contacted Customer Service after noticing the auto shipping component, she immediately helped me in cancelling the future shipments.
Therefore, I was happy with this company.
On the other hand, Customer Service did tell me that the company runs on regular shipments of products. So know that in advance.

When I first signed up, I was suppose to get a free cleaning caddy, which was never received. Going forward, when I would select a free gift with my purchase for over $99, or $79, I would never receive it. So I sent an email and was told that they apologize and said they tend to ship those items within shipments to avoid unnecessary shipping. Made no sense to me. However, they never made good on any of those free gifts with purchase, nor did I ever receive the cleaning caddy from when I first set up an account with them. When I emailed them again about this, I was then told that free gifts with purchases are only available if I selected the ship now option instead of waiting for my orders normal ship date and Also that recurring orders are not eligible for free gifts. So where's my incentive to continue ordering them, as opposed to going to the store? To me, that's wrong. I have spent a lot of money with this company, and to dangle free gifts in your face only to find out that you have to ship your order immediately to get it instead of waiting for my normal ship date is ridiculous. They encourage to Spend, spend, spend, but then have strings attached to their backwards "incentives", if you can even call them that.
