I used to use Yahoo Finance extensive in the past when they had the old format around. Since the switchover, I moved to Google Finance (which is now dead as well) and other comparable sites (not many out there). This eventually focued me to use the Finance websites lesser overall (which was a good thing in a way) but now as I want to become more active, I have tried using Yahoo Finance again and really truggle to focus on areas I would like to focus or I would think and investor would want to focus on when they fire up the website. Navigation through the relevant info is quite difficult. With all the ads thrown in (all around the page) it is extremely difficult to remain focused. Usefull info seems to get burried under a think layer of adverts. It plain and simple doesn't feel like a Finance website anymore but rather a medium for advertisers to sell their products. I understand its a free website, but shouldn't they also be worried keeping to the purpose of thier offering for which they get traffic in the first place.
Bottomline: I am actively looking for a more usefull alternative. The day I find it, I will switch at an eye-blink. Very dissapointed to see Yahoo Finance end up like this.
I had yahoo finance for 1 year. I didn't use it, but it's ok, I paid for this service.
Next year I got charged to renew my subscription on Feb 6,2022. I went to YF and canceled it on THE SAME DAY. But they didn't cancel it - they put it in "pending cancel"
I contacted the support - They said my subscription was renewed on Feb 4 and I can't cancel it because it should be canceled before Feb 4, which I was not informed, not notified that my card will be charged for a new year.
I asked for my 2022-2023 $377 refund on the same day, then additionally on Feb 10 in a conversation with Ronald Allan - who was a representative of online support.
His answer was: I'm sorry but you must cancel your subscription before the end of a free trial period or before your next renewal date, in order to avoid being charged. Please refer to the Terms of Service you agreed to at the time you placed your order for more information about our refund policy. https://legal.yahoo.com/us/en/yahoo/terms/otos/index.html
Then this: I do apologize for the inconvenience. It looks like we've provided all the information we can regarding this issue. Because of this, we can't provide any additional assistance at this time.
If you have any questions regarding other areas of Yahoo, go to our help pages. https://help.yahoo.com/kb/finance-for-web
So please be aware, if your subscription will be expired on Feb 4, you will not get any notifications about it to give you an opportunity to cancel it, Yahoo Finance will change your visa 2 days later because it's too late to cancel the service! This is just a scam, not to provide a refund for services that are not needed anymore. And yes, I have a bank statement about my visa charges dated by Feb 6. They just don't care.
One of the new Yahoo products still worth using! Better than what my brokerage offer me.
Yahoo Finance is king of censorship especially on their comment areas; they have their favorite investment companies and would be first to promote & publish news and report that will boost those businesses - whereas they'll block, delay, hold back and restrict events, comment and pertinent information on organizations they don't support giving shorts & adversaries edge to undermine and pull down. Very unfair and shouldn't be happening in a true democracy where there should be freedom of speech!
Yahoo Finance has a rating of 1.6 stars from 89 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Yahoo Finance most frequently mention and message board. Yahoo Finance ranks 139th among Personal Finance sites.
