Do not rent from this company unless it is short term. There is no zero customer loyalty. Once again, ANOTHER rate increase of $60 a month, absolutely unbelievable! I am in another state due to my father having a heart attack so moving now isn't even a possibility. So much for compassion during difficult times. They don't seem to care about customers or employees. What a shame!

Extra space storage all of the sudden raised my monthly payment after I've been paying automatically 4 months deducted from my account,
40% more money. There's no way in hell that anyone can raise 40% on a contract. It is just immoral an ethical and it's illegal
Clean, staff was nice and access to your personal needs when needed. PROBLEM: Extra Space gives you a low rate (comparable with other retailers) then starts jacking up your monthly price after 3 months, then followed by another on your 1st year anniversary. My rate went up 60% in one year. They get you comfortable but soon start the greedy landlord practice. I hope this helps to determine whether or not you do business with Extra Space and gives you insight beforehand!
This place uses unacceptable business practices by luring customers with low initial rate and then raises rate at their whim without any notification. My messages are ignored completely and I cannot get in touch with anyone to discuss rate increase that almost doubled since I moved my personal belongings there. This sounds more like a scam operation than a legitimate business. They keep charging my credit card and yet totally ignore me as a paying customer. Beware of this place! There are better options out there, but I am overseas and unable to address their abhorrent business practice at the moment.
I have no complaints about the facility itself-clean and well kept, easy access and we had great interactions with the site manager. The climate control always seemed appropriate. However they did increase our price about %50 over the course of 18 months. So I would recommend only if you want short-term.
She has been very helpful and answered all the questions that I asked. I would highly recommend this company to my friends and family because of her professional demeanor and skills set
They gauge you cost wise, but that's the least of the negatives. The manager is sick. If "gated" is a positive for you, that will soon change if you decide to store your belongings there. The manager who lives in the apartment above the office is a Criminal Minds level of creepy. He uses that gate to trap you in so you can't leave. I told him to let us out. He said "blow me $#*!". Sick bastard. Rude, snide and the most unprofessional employee I've ever dealt with.
They are taking all my money for a very small storage unit. Im paying a car note. 190.00 dollars a month. I wasnt there when my family set it up, But I calling to get more information tomorrow. Im pissed.

Helpful. I got a new storage for 77.00 dollars a month with a credit for a free month. Im so happy to be saving the money. I take it all back.
Originally, I thought it was a nice place with competitive rates - no; clean; the only difficulty I had encountered was the limited access - l0:00 p.m. cutoff (not too beneficial for moving) - but that turned out to only be the first.
Update - I can't recommend the company, but Manager Audrey (Jax.) gets FIVE STARS from me!
Boston, MA branch went from great to horrible Sr, 2019-2021. In addition to steadily increasing rates throughout the pandemic--sending notices only by mail but threats to pitch my stuff via e-mail weeks later--they filed no report after my TV and 2 huge boxes of kitchen stuff and linens were stolen. The site supervisor asked if I'd had movers then nobody got back to me from local or corporate offices.
The most disturbing aspect is that the thieves took their time: broke a toaster and tossed it back; punched holes through my linen, room-divider screen; rummaged through rubber tubs and took clocks and blankets from the top then replaced the covers, etc. And there was no sign of tampering with the lock--obviously an inside job, so even had they checked the tapes to see anyone with a good-sized TV (40" stand) under his arm leaving the building, it's highly unlikely that tape would be there vs. "oops, got taped over."
About to move a year later, I'll cram 1 BR's worth of stuff into a studio or rented room rather than put the non-valuables I have left in storage, risking damage to sentimental items.
Super disappointed that I received a post card notifying me that my Davie, FL storage rent will go up by $14 per month due to "market conditions". That's almost a 19% increase!
The staff is great with the exception of the one mishap that you will read. My first day here I literally want to pack up my stuff and leave already. A combination of reasons not only the facility issues that I thought was odd like one I have to enter a code every time I use the elevator which is ridiculous when you are paying mover by the hour to move your stuff in and they have to enter a 6 digit code every time we are trying to use the elevator. Second there is not a wash room that you can use, it's in the office and only available during office hours. I had been here since 6:30am and had to use the bathroom for the last hour was told that bc of the covid 19 the office is on lock down I get it so what am I supposed to do I'm from out of town and know no one here. So this has been the most frustrating day ever. I asked the lady if I was supposed to leave my $#*! in the middle of the road and pack the moving truck up to go hunt for a restroom and she asked me why I was talking to her that way. Are you $#*!ing kidding me? You don't understand that I'm frustrated, I'm moving to a new city, during a very awkward time everything is closed down and I have to use the $#*!ing bathroom.
Updated: The staff is great here, I spoke with the lady that I cursed at and apologized to her, and explained what was going on. I was having a really $#*! day, still think that having to enter a code every time you use the elevator to go up is a bit irritating.
The elevator at the Granger location has been down for 2 weeks. I was told the only way I can get to my unit is to take off of work and come when someone is in the office and they would let me in via the fire escape? There needs to be reliable access to the second floor. Please at least put a key pad on one of the upstairs doors so people can get to their belongings.
I am writing this review to express my deep dissatisfaction with the services provided by Extra Space Storage, specifically at the location 5801 W W.T.Harris Blvd, Charlotte, NC *******.
Today, we experienced a significant loss when approximately $40,000 worth of my husband's lawn care equipment was stolen from our storage unit. Shockingly, despite the alleged security measures in place, none of the cameras captured the incident. The thief somehow managed to avoid detection by exploiting a hole in the gate.
To add to our frustration, when we approached the staff with legitimate concerns about the security system and video footage, they displayed an audacious attitude and seemed upset by our questions. This lack of cooperation and nonchalant response is completely unacceptable.
The dismissive behavior, deflection of responsibility, and overall dismal customer service raise serious concerns. It appears to be more than just a random incident; the possibility of an inside job cannot be ignored.
I strongly advise potential customers against using Extra Space Storage at this location. The evident lack of commitment to safety and protection is alarming, making it clear that these aspects are not high on their priority list. Our experience has been a nightmare, and we hope others can avoid such a distressing situation by choosing a more reliable storage provider.
Would give his place -0 stars if I could! I am so disappointed in Extra Space Storage on 8837 Tara Blvd. They know they have a rodent infestation, but will not warn folks before moving in. Rat droppings are all over my things. Avoid this place at all costs. You've been warned!
Where do I begin... I fell on hard times as a single mother and needed to put my whole life/ belongings in this facility,until I got back on my feet. I am a single mother of a 1. Everything was fine until I was advised about mice. Not only was there mice in my unit it became a infestation. I had to forfeit everything from my furniture,clothes, shoes, blankets ect... Needless to say I am hurt and very disappointed about this. The manager I will say was very understanding very helpful and understood my frustration. Due to his great service I would love to recommend this storage facility but I would never in a million years not even to my worse enemy. Please go somewhere else not worth the mental despair, financial burden nor the risk of transferring rodents to you next place.
Wish I could give them no stars. No customer service. Rude employees. Very high prices. If there is a "mom and pop " local place in your area, rent there. These people are nasty crooks. They are just awful.
20 years ago I moved into this storage rental facility. Extra space took over several years ago. Rent has gone up in last two years every six months. In last year has gone up almost 100.00 dollars. Enough is enough. Year or so ago cut off electricity to all units in my row. Asked when would be back on said would not. Told me if I did not like it move. I have moved. This company could care less about loyal customers. Employees are rotating thru like open door, I can see why. A scum bag operation.
Rental unit cost almost doubled in less than a few months. And then, they were authorized to do direct withdrawals from my account. Suddenly I heard that my account was past due and they charged me late fees and some auction fees. No respect whatsoever for the consumers. Worst experience ever.
I would highly recommend staying away from this company. I had a disturbing experience with their Plymouth Meeting Location. They are an inflexible and insensitive company with little regard for their customers. The only thing they seem to care about is collecting money. There are better storage facilities out there that will offer you much better customer service.
