I have been an Expedia+ Gold Member for a few years now, so I do not write this review lightly or without a good knowledge of the company. While the pricing, ease of booking, etc. is good, solving any issues that may arise is an absolute nightmare - even for me as a Gold Member. I would strongly advise to currently NOT use Expedia if frustrations with bookings, etc., would interfere with enjoying your vacation. Hopefully the issues are only temporary.
I think this is a very good website which will always give best options. I have used it several times. I either use Travelopod or Expedia. I always get the best deals with both these websites. 5 stars to both!
Booked a 5-star hotel and flights for an important family trip. It had to be cancelled 2 days before for reasons beyond our control (emergency in the family). 2 hours on the phone with customer service, mostly on hold with a couple of disconnects. In the end refused to refund a single dollar. Asked many personal questions and gave me advice on how to deal with a family situation that I did not ask for. How are they in business? I will NEVER use them again.
I usually book through hotel websites direct, never third party websites. But a friend unannounced she was visiting me but yet too far from my home. I booked a hotel through here so I could be closer to her instead of having to commute all the way back home (100+ miles one way)
Expedia filters the hotels that are affordable and can't go wrong with all the reviews. I booked a Best Western hotel with no problems. When I visited the front desk they upgraded my room different from what I booked. Thanks Expedia!
I've paid slightly more to specifically buy from Expedia but when it comes to the customers service, you are as screwed as if you bought from any other joe.
The customers service seems to be outsourced, and that means you will get no help or protection for your tickets.
Had a flight cancelled in January. I had to rent a car and drive 7 hours home. I have called numerous times to see where my refund is. Everytime I call I am on the phone for over an hour with no resolution. I am told they are trying to contact the airline. This is unacceptable and very frustrating. Poor customer service. I will never use Expedia again if I do not receive my refund.
They cancelled my bookings within seconds of me booking. Multiple times. Yet won't refund me any of the booking fees.
Refuse to talk any sense to me, they just keep copy and pasting the same lines over and over, and telling me to message or email them, which I have a million times and have been doing for nearly 3 weeks. I'm getting no where. I've tried phoning but after being on hold for an hour or two they hang up on you.
I will never ever use Expedia again, and I suggest everyone else books with other companies. Expedia steal your money and the Indians working for them whilst are polite are absolutely no help.
I've booked many hotels and rental cars here. I especially like the option to save money by not knowing the name of the hotel/motel before completing the purchase. For one-night stays this is ideal. There are always a nice range of prices for both hotels and cars, which makes it easy to stay within my budget.
Booked a flight through Expedia the flight credit policy is basically worthless. Customer service is non existent
Been trying to use an $800 "flight voucher " for almost six months after Expedia artificially inflates the ticket price and tacks on a $99 service fee you are better off just booking a flight with a different airline
Will never book through Expedia ever again. Booked at Sea Temple Port Douglas, made sure the was a good cancellation policy in case. We had to cancel and did that with in the correct time frame, did this 15/04/21, today 21/05/21 and still no $495 refund. Have emailed through Expedia app at least 10 time and keep get the same response from the hotel - is should be there in the next few days. Rang Expedia just over a week ago and was told I had to deal with the hotel which I said I have been doing. They were not willing to even listen till I threatened to leave reviews at this point the issue was escalated. Been 10 days and have not had a call or email from anyone at Expedia. Shame, shame, shame. Clearly they wipe there hands once they get their commission.
They have sent five emails in two months stating our reserved airline seats need to be reselected through the airline website. Upon checking this is not true. Seats are confirmed by airline and reserved. Nobody at Expedia will correct this undo stress and unnecessary stress.
I travel a lot and I can say that Expedia is my go to app (cause I use the app) when it comes to booking a plane ticket or a hotel room. It's very easy to use, it (app) has some glitches but those can be fixed. It has everything you could ever need. From hotel reviews to fare comparisons, Expedia has it all. Whenever I'm not being flown from one place to another by a private jet, I don't even go to Delta, AA, Southwest, etc. Anymore. I just click on that yellow Expedia app and securely book/find a flight even up to the very last minute. Seriously, because they have my credentials (don't worry about identity theft or scams btw, I can assure you that they are atrociously strict about security and privacy) just pick a flight you want to catch, run to the airport and you're done! Easy as pie. (Pie is very difficult but, uh, you get what I mean! Lol)
Searching for hotels is easy, and you can search using: price, amenities, class, etc.
Booking hotels with this site fairly easy, although on a few occasion the hotel did not get a notice from Expedia.
For this reason I carry a print out the confirmation, typically takes care of the issue.
While I do use Expedia to look for prices and routes, usually I have found better seat price combination fusing the airlines site.
Economy Rental car is not at airport. Airport is a new airport and this place was 10 minutes away. It's a taxi ride away in an old Day's Inn that does not even have rental car sign. I called Expedia and after 70-minutes, somebody called me back. I asked to speak to supervisor and of course, none were available. The rental car company had 1 car with over 54,000 miles. Trunk had a huge dent and would not even open. Gas tank was 1/2 empty when car was given. My manager literally took multiple photos of all the damage to the car before leaving hotel and was charged a $250 deposit. Why would Expedia EVER have a rental car company that was over 10 minutes away? If the airport was the old airport, rental would at least have been a walk away. Worst rental experience EVER
I recently called to add another person to the cabin I booked for cruise. I got someone online after waiting 40 min on non busy time. Then they put me on hold for 4 times says they want to talk to their manager. After I waited for over 1 and half hours they simply hanged up on me without no help. Never will book through Expedia again. Worst service.
On itinerary **************

Eight hours after I booked a hotel, $70, at New Orleans, LA, I found through a mobile site at priceline.com a lower quote for the same hotel exactly on the same stay date. Then I filed an application for price match. Their CS were not willing to look at the fact, and just say their price quote is lowest one, so it is of totally useless to argue. Absolutely I don't recommend this online company. They are lying and are not trustable. I recommend you to use priceline mobile site, perhaps you would find really low price for hotel.
They sell a "travelguard" policy that covers 100% of trip cancellation. They also do everything they can to make it impossible to recover and cancel the trip. Seems AA will bill them for the tickets and they'd have to eat that in order to make good on the refund. Their tact then is to delay, ignore, make difficult or impossible to cancel. They even put in the itinerary all kinds of promises of you can easily cancel the reservation. NOPE. Those links are dead ends. RUN AWAY. What a bunch of scammers and frauds. NEVER shall I deal with Expedia again.
Had one hiccup with them but it was more the fault of the hotel. Expedia helped as much as they could but even though the hotel was misleading and they got me some money back, that hotel is still on their site. Every other booking through them has been great! I would recommend them to others. Thanks
Sara
Don't ever book with Expedia again. They do not follow DOT law. They don't issue refund when they suppose to.
Make up the policies as they go.
If you purchase anything from them you will be out of the money and won't receive any services.
I have been waiting for a refund from expedia for more than 2 months. They keep blaming the hotel for not returning the money to me. Their marketing manager is always on leave. Taking vacation and leaving us people who book thru their site. And goes to enjoy his time while leaving me hanging here for freaking 2 months. What kinda business is this. I wanna advise you all to go and book with other site. Expedia isn't for you. Be careful
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
Expedia has a rating of 2.1 stars from 1,603 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Expedia most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next day. Expedia ranks 203rd among Travel Search Engine sites.
