Every single time I travel with a booking thru Expedia, it has been a bad experience. In fact, it is SO bad that I plan to pay off my balance and cut up my card.

I spent over 2 hours with them on the phone and they would keep dropping the call only to find that when I printed out my travel itenirary THEY HAD BOOKED ME INTO THE WRONG CITY! So, the I have to spend another 2 hours right before I was getting ready to leave the country for almost a month… They kept transferring me to different people, who I had to give THE EXACT INFORMATION about my trip and what was the problem is (why doesn't the first person I speak to start a file so the other agents have the information right in front of them?) and on and on on, ad nauseam. The people they have working there are dumb as rocks.

It was s completely unsatisfactory… and I am even having trouble with them AFTER my trip is over. OMGawd! Never again will I use Expedia for ANYTHING!

So, my wife and I book our rental car through Expedia on our last trip to Brazil. We arrived to the rental car agency approximately 1 hour after our scheduled arrival. We were subsequently refused the vehicle by the rental agency and told our reservation was cancelled. We were told that we could reschedule through Expedia. So, we called Expedia while standing in the agency lobby. We were told they couldn't reschedule or cancel the reservation. We asked for a refund because we were not receiving the service we paid for. A few days later we received an email that they couldn't reach the agency, which we never had any problem doing, and therefore were refusing to issue a refund. I spoke with a representative at Expedia that agreed that we had not violated their policy, but was still refusing to issue a refund. So even though we did everything the way we were suppose to, Expedia still refused to stand by their own policy and issue a refund. Safe to say I will neither use Expedia again, not will I ever recommend it to anyone other than the people I hate.

"Expedia is where you book cheap travel packages, what's more do your expect." Honestly their help desk person Christina made sure I know about that! I asked how come they don't have a pop out window or some sort of courtesy reminder.
Warning: if you are holding a chinese passport and US Visa be sure to apply electronic visa as well!
I had to cancel the whole trip because I did not know that.
I stayed on the phone with Christina for over an hour try to minimize the cancellation fees however sounds like they are trained to repeat same sentence till you give up.
I understand why now because I finally got hold of their service manage Michelle in lasvegas and she reminded me that all travellers are responsible for their own travel (like I do know that common sense). Terrible service and VERY poor people skills. I was even more upset after hearing her lecture. Will never book their ever again!
Also do you know Expedia owns all these online booking companies? It crazy a company wth so many terrible reviews has so many brands.

Booked a hotel in New York City through Expedia. Written confirmation was given 5 months ago for a double twin bed room with a good rate. Three days before by trip, I called the Hotel Rui Plaza and learned that Expedia booked a king room. I was traveling with my teenage granddaughter and I did not want to share a bed. A contacted the Expedia customer service and I thought the rep called the hotel and corrected the booking to the double twin room. The representative said there should be no issues checking in. When I arrived at the hotel, I was told I had a king room. They checked and I was told that they did have a double twin room but Expedia had to call the hotel to change the reservation. I was told that Expedia didn't really make my reservation, it was booked by a 3rd party. I finally used chat to text my problem to Expedia Customer Service. I had two representatives that said they were trying to contact the 3rd party that mad the initial l reservation because Exepedia could not make the change. I was told they were on a "long" hold for the 3rd party. After 1.5 hours of waiting and being shuffled between two customer service agents, I ended the text and took the king room. The clerk at the front desk told me that this type situation happens all the time with Expedia. Botton line... Expedia service is horrible and I now know that when you book, you are booking with an unknown agency who doesn't respond. Beware!

I booked a hotel on expedia and realized I made an error while feeding details. I immediately canceled the booking on the website. Then saw a better deal on booking.com and booked two rooms from the same.

As my stay date was approaching, I kept receiving multiple reminders from booking.com about my stay, if I need to revise any booking details, etc but absolutely no communication from expedia.

I reached the hotel as per my booking, and asked them for two rooms as booked on booking.com. To my shock the hotel manager said I have 3 rooms booked under my name - 2 on booking.com and 1 on expedia! I told him I had canceled the expedia booking but he said his system is showing the booking is on. Expedia T&C said 60% of the payment will be advance deducted by the hotel before the stay and 40% there at the hotel. However the Hotel had not deducted any advance payment and expedia had not sent any communication which could tell me that my booking was not cancelled!

Both my hotel manager and me tried to contact Expedia through all the options available on their site - toll free number, chat bots, emails and still could not get through anyone at Expedia.

Finally I had to pay Rs 5000 for a room in which I did not stay at all and that really pinched me. Was really disappointed with absolutely no support from expedia in the scenario where there was an error in their system.

I was so happy with booking.com and completely reverse experience with expedia in the same trip!

Due to COVID-19, I was unable to travel overseas due to travel ban restrictions. I booked a non-refundable accommodation back in 2019, the accommodation stay date was in June. Expedia claims they have their own policies and it states on their website that I am eligible for a full refund or voucher. I requested a full refund. I could not cancel due to the website glitch so I requested Expedia company to cancel on my behalf. I have attempted to contact the hotel myself but it has been closed since April and still are currently closed. The Expedia agents confirmed the company still currently has my money as the transaction to the hotel has not been processed (due to the hotel being closed). It's been an ongoing 4 months of trying to get my full refund contacting via email and calls. They continuously delay and tell me to wait further and they will get back to me - this is a lie and again, I have to contact them to follow this up. Added photos of Expedia's claims/policies for my current situation. But Expedia is unreliable and not credible. Do not book with this company.

Total scammers!
March 25, 2021

Warning. Don't ever use Expedia! They are scammers!

On the way to Yuma we could only find one hotel available and that was in Las vegas. I had been entering in the dates of the 19th over and over looking for a hotel. I finally found one and after I hit confirm I realized they had changed the dates to the 20th because apparently there was no vacancy at this hotel either, on the 19th. I immediately tried to call Expedia back and of course as they always say they are very busy and there will be a long wait. I was on hold for almost an hour when I finally hung up and tried online chat. The chat was obviously a bot and just continued to say we're sorry we can't refund or cancel your hotel reservation.

The next day after getting transferred twice and being on hold for more than 3 hours, I was told they would have to send it to the complaint department. A week later I get an email saying we're sorry but we didn't find an error and so we cannot refund your money. So I have a $165 charge for a hotel room I never got to use!

Since this has happened I have heard of other similar complaints. We will never be using Expedia again!

We booked a flight from Shanghai to Hong Kong, paid for it on line, never go the tickets, after over 60 calls to their so called phone number which they don't pick on, we finally got another number by chance, they said our email was wrong! Then sent tickets through. We got to the airport, stood in line for 40 mins to be told our tickets had been cancelled by Travelginio! We then had to buy two more tickets twice the price with another airline to get back to Hong Kong in time to fly back to Australia. I have since contacted them and they were happy to tell me that our email wasn't working and basically too bad!
Best advise< look on line for feedback and make sure they are safe to book online with, we will never use them again and make sure we tell everyone we know not to bother with them, they are a disgraceful organisation. Will never book with them again. Shocking customer service the worst I have ever come across. They have since contacted me yesterday and offered me $45Euros instead of the $502.00 AUD we paid. They are dishonest, tell everyone looking to book online to stay away from them. There are 100's of reviews on line telling people how bad they are. Please pass this on

The ad quoted $143 per night and seemed competitive with other Hotels in the area. I was booking a trip 3 days in advance. As I added more people to the reservation, the cost went up markedly. I booked the room for 4 people for 2 nights. The room had 2 queen size beds and 2 sleeper sofas. After all the hooey hooey charges were tacked on it was $666.00. After hours of searching, I just went ahead and booked it. Then, one person on the trip got stranded in another state and her flight was canceled. She couldn't make it home in time. I tried to cancel and they refused to refund my money! I tried through Expedia and directly through the hotel. They told me to "read the fine print" - No refunds. After spending half of a day calling back and forth between Expedia and Bay Palms Hotel, they agreed to refund 1 of the 2 days. I then had to make the trip for1 day only, and they charged me $392.63 for one night. It wound up being a wonderful trip. The rooms are clean and just as advertised. Two days after I returned home, another charge appeared in my bank account. $44.07. What? You're kidding! I called the hotel directly. I was asked if I had read the policies. I was told it was a non-refundable charge for the hotel's amenities. I thought "What am I to do?" "Hire a lawyer?" So that was that. $436.70 for one overnight stay. This was not The Ritz or Park Hyatt! I will never go back, and wish all to know. I don't know any hotel that refuses to refund money with 72 hours' notice.

We've used Expedia several times, but it's when there's a problem that you really get to find out how good they are. We experienced that problem a couple of weeks ago. A week before we were due to head off to Rome, my husband was hospitalised and given the diagnosis of MS. Although he was well enough to come home a few days before we were due to travel we knew he wasn't well enough to travel, and the GP confirmed that. I called Expedia the day the GP advised us not to travel, 3 days before we were due to leave. The customer service rep was kind, patient, advised us what refunds we were due (100% of the hotel costs, nothing from the flights) and gave us the airline's telephone number to contact them. I then asked about cancelling our prebooked taxi transfer which he dealt with but again confirmed there would be no refund payable. I asked if he could confirm that by email for insurance purposes, and he asked me to stay on the line while he did that. Something happened while I was holding and I got cut off. I suspected he had cut me off so he didn't need to do the email, and so I then got onto the travel insurers. After that call I got a 'missed call' notification, as the Expedia rep had tried to call back to let me know he had emailed. Can't complain at that, I think that's excellent customer service. OK, no refund from the airline or the taxi transfer, but that was in the small print, nothing I didn't already know. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised to get anything back. Fingers crossed customer service is just as good with the travel insurance!

Don't use Expedia unless you don't care about truthful information and your money! My daughter paid Expedia online for a car rental deposit expecting that a car was reserved for her at the airport upon her arrival only to find out that Expedia's information about the car rental company was incorrect. As such she had no car and spent over an hour on the phone trying to get her deposit back for Expedia's mistake - only to be told she couldn't have an immediate refund and Expedia said there would be a cancellation fee. Now she is out of state without a rental car and without her deposit for another one. Further, the rental car company that was misquoted by Expedia advised that she would have to get a refund from Expedia and not the rental car company. She then went to another rental car company at the airport and paid another deposit only to learn that they checked her credit and would not rent her a car as her score wasn't good enough for them so now she is out two deposits totalling over $400 and has no rental car in a city 1,300 miles away! Had I known I would have recommended she contact Enterprise Car Rental who will rent a car for $250 cash or debit card deposit without a credit check or credit card required. Expedia pretty much ruined her trip and left her stranded! Don't let them do that to you!

Never Again will I book anything through Expedia. I rented an SUV through Expedia for my family's spring break trip in Florida. I confirmed the night before and when I arrived to the Enterprise rental place, I was told our car was given away because we didn't confirm and we weren't there on time. The woman at Enterprise didn't offer any solutions so we were stuck with no car since there were none available due to the high demand of that week, which is why I booked in December 2017 for March 2018. Needless to say, I was very upset and called Expedia. They were also NOT helpful and the woman on the phone was rude and offered no solutions either. She said it was my responsibility to be there on time and I told her my plane was delayed, but that didn't matter. She said it was there policy and I told her it was written no where on my receipt so I didn't no of such policy. I expected my car to be there no matter what time even though it was only an hour or two later. It should be reserved for most of the day and a window of time should be given for when to arrive due to travel delays. I was not made aware of the policy, even the night before when I called to confirm. I will never use Expedia again or recommend them, ever!

When I tried to make a simple change to a flight within the time frame they give on the site (saying "no penalties/charges), they tried to make me pay fees near the actual flight amount! I was put on hold and told "the supervisor will just say the same thing". On a nightmarish call that lasted over an hour. When I called back because I couldn't cancel online, I had to deal with another hour of arguing until the guy on the phone finally acknowledged that the wording on the web page did promise I could cancel the fllight. Instead of simply making the changes I initially needed, they ended up having to cancel the flight, refund my money, and apologize after treating me so horribly and wasting my time. Additionally, they offered a hotel room at a "discounted price" so I had reserved a room, but then it was a "bait and switch" price when I got the confirmation---double the price given on the site! Luckily, I hadn't prepaid for that so I was able to cancel it on-line. They must make their money from these bogus fees and expect most people to just give up by providing horrible customer service. NEVER AGAIN!

We made the huge mistake of taking less expensive flights to and from orlando from New Hampshire during school February vacation. Our children were signed up to run the marathon in Naples which was cancelled. So they decided to run in ft lauderdale. Our flight was scheduled to arrive in fort Myers which would give us a 2 hr drive to ft lauderdale. (Ugh). So my son tried to switch flights so we would arrive in ft lauderdale. What a nightmare that was! When he finally found himself talking to someone in Central America, he gave up and called Delta direct. Finally got some satisfaction and we were given priority treatment, but no thanks to Expedia

Then on the return flight we arrived at the American terminal to find we had no tickets! Expedia gave us a total runaround. My son was on the phone for 2 hours. We were about to put our belongings in a tray at security when we found out Expedia was going to book us on delta. So we stepped out. The airport attendees advised us to continue thru security and get our tickets at the gate. But once we got thru security we found that that wasn't going to work. So we went back to the main terminal and after another hour finally had tickets in hand for a delta flight to Atlanta at 4:30 with a 2 hr lay over in Atlanta and an arrival time in nh of 11:44. We are an hour away from home at that point. So we wouldn't get home until about 1:00AM
Mind you we had been at orlando airport since 8:00AM

So I guess it all goes back to the old adage "you get what you pay for." Still thinking expedia.
Good luck to you!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
March 8, 2017

I had an absolutely HORRIBLE experience using Expedia. I have used them before for last minute cheap flights, but DO NOT USE IT if there is a possibility than the flight will need to be cancelled or you have an emergency. I had a family emergency which isn't stated in their list of emergences (death or doctor's severe illness). I had to re book my flight which I already paid almost $600 for. They made me pay an additional $200 to change it because I was going to miss one of the flights. I talked to 4 agents, 3 of which barely spoke English and did not understand what I was saying. I am usually very understanding with customer service but no matter how many times I said I wanted to just cancel the flight so I would get a credit (because I would be spending less) they kept pushing me to change the flight which would come out to a $200-300 fee even though they were saving seats on the flight that I was no longer going to be on. I cancelled it I do not want a future credit to use this service pay the little extra cost and book through the airlines, this service as so $#*!ty and wasted several hours on the phone arguing with them.

Price Match SCAM
May 5, 2017

I am a regular customer to expedia, 2 years back booked a hotel for a week in florida and found the same hotel/offer cheaper on Booking.com by $320, called expedia and filed a request for price match. They said I am not eligible for it and called them 2 times and never got an honest answer. This week booked for a trip to Europe with flights and hotels, next day fond the same offer for the hotels on THEIR WEBSITE expedia.ca exactly the same as the day before but $240, called customer service and the agent verified the website and my itenary and she confirmed it's identical and referred me to their link for price match but o send a screenshot and my reservation and next day I got an email saying the deny it as it's not the same reservation and room dose not match. Called them again and their agent couldn't give me an answer. PRICE MATCH WITH EXPEDIA IS A BIG SCAM

I booked two tickets with Expedia Germany but had to reschedule them because I got COVID. The booking terms stated that it was possible to change the travel dates. When I contacted Expedia to explain them my situation, they first wanted me to give them my new trip dates! HOW CAN I KNOW WHE I AM GOING TO TRAVEL, IF I AM SICK AND NEED TO GET A VISA! After arguing for days, they finally gave me a voucher that I vould use to reschedule my trip. I have the visa and looked for new tickets on their website. I called to book them, and Expedia's rep told me that those rates apply to new bookings only! The rate I have to pay is waaaay higher! It does not make sense! They are thieves and scamers. Do never book with them!
