Fraud by expedia
August 26, 2016

All additional fraud cases, please report to *******@expedia.com. He doesn't care but if enough cases reported, Expedia will get fined & If you do have evidence, Dara Khosrowshahi will hopefully end up in prison setting an example for other organizations who also deceive customers to obtain financial gain.
Fraud carries a prison sentence.
My case:-
9/8/16 hotel book through Expedia uk at London Kings Cross (central London) in order to easily catch the Eurostar train to Paris early in the morning.
Hours before traveling, Expedia emails that "they have made a mistake and the hotel address is not central London but Harrow"(13 miles from where I booked)
Customer wronged in 4 different ways:
1) charged for a hotel not booked & refused a refund!
2) left stranded without a hotel!
3) wasted 5 hours & £££ on telephone calls Expedia, on the day of traveling!
4) lied to over the phone!
Expedia refuses to answer all written communication & requests to right this wrong.
When talking to their custmer service, do record all conversations (all mobiles can do do)!, as their representatives lie & say one thing over the phone and deny it in writing.
Expedia have committed fraud & deserved to be fined by the relevant authorities & their CEO imprisoned.

Customer service
April 7, 2018

Unbelievable India call center experience! On the phone for 1hr 57 min at this point... still waiting to remove one passenger from my trip. Supervisor got on the phone and appoligized and told me it would have taken 15-20 min if he took the call initially. (HAD EXPEDIA TRIP INSURANCE ON TRIP 1 MONTH OUT) Supervisor tried to refund me for the flight and not the all inclusive hotel fees because it would not make a difference in the price... HAHAHa It's all-inclusive only a difference of a couple thousand $. Now he's calling the hotel which is why I thought i've been on hold for the last hour because the rep said they were waiting on the hotel. Like i said UNBELIEVABLE! Never Again!

We got stuck in severe traffic and had to change our hotel location. I called Expedia and they did not have a good phone number for the hotel, therefore could not cancel. I called the hotel directly and got right in, and said we had to go through expedia for cancellations and to be warned that they are bad at actually giving you refunds. He said if I called the hotel directly and made the reservation, he would be happy to cancel the reservation and help rebook with another hotel (cheaper than Expedia). After calling Expedia 3 times, they said they could never get through to the hotel and could not refund me my money. Thank goodness it was a cheap hotel and I didn't loose much. Lesson learned though, SAVE MONEY AND CALL THE HOTEL DIRECTLY TO BOOK!

Not worth the effort

The ability to amend quotations is limited - you often have to cancel everything and start again, which is a pain.

I have ALWAYS found cheaper prices elsewhere too...

Making Travel as Convoluted as Possible!
December 29, 2021

Currently going on a full hour of being on hold with customer service. Had to cancel a flight due to COVID, expired within a year so I needed to use it despite the pandemic getting worse. Now I have to cancel for a second time because my academic conference was cancelled again. But the rebooked flight isn't showing up on my upcoming trips and no one at expedia can find it, even though I'm still getting email confirmations about changes to my flight so I'm definitely booked for it. So their system is just completely confusing to even them. Or they're lying? I have about $450 tied up in these "lost" flights, so that'll be really fun to deal with. And for some reason expedia doesn't let you rebook flights yourself. You HAVE to call them and wait on hold and let them mess up everything in the meantime. Also funny, I don't know if the associates get commission for screwing people over but I was put on the phone with someone who kept insisting that they couldn't see the same flight options as me and the cheapest they could find was about $140 more expensive than what I had credit for. But there were flights with other carriers that were less than $140 total! So it was either pay more to use my credit or pay less and completely lose my credit. What a joke of a company. At least their hold music is terrible... oh, wait, that's still a negative. Nothing good to say!

I had a couple of cancellations recently with Expedia and they are pretty useless to try to rebook a canceled flight. My advice is book directly with the airlines.

Never use Expedia!
May 27, 2017

I booked a hotel for my friends Bachelorette party in Vegas. It was originally booked under my name but I couldn't make it so I attempted to change the name on the reservation through Expedia. My first attempt was a month before the trip. I very clearly said and spelled the persons name. Everything seemed ok until I checked my reservation. The name was spelt completely wrong. So I called again. This time the person didn't know how to do it and told me to call back later. So I did, this time I got told to call back in 2 hours. Now I noticed on my reservation that my room type has randomly been changed from two queen beds to one king. So I called again to make the changes I need. I spell the persons name very very clearly and tell the employee to switch our rooms back to two queen beds. All seemed well until my friends go to check in. Their is only one room under the name when I reserved and paid for two. Turns out the persons on the phone didn't correct the name on both rooms. So I call Expedia again, incredibly annoyed at this point. My friends are in vegas, unable to check in, and the guy says "unfortunately, there is nothing I can do, our system is down." I lost it, and I have never in my life yelled at anyone.
So my friends had to scramble and thankfully the hotel was able to help them. I wouldn't be surprised if they get a lot of people who have problems with Expedia.
Worst service ever!

Please be careful, Expedia will book on your behalf without your knowledge!

Now I'm holding 6 air-ticket at same time, date & place but only for 3 person trip.

I booked hotels and flights to Bangkok on Expedia's website.
But at the end of the month when I received the credit card bill, Expedia charge me for the two bookings!
(One on 17. 01. 18 another on 18. 01. 18)

I told Expedia 17. 01. 18 that I did not receive email confirmation and OPT (one-time sales), I told them in 17. 01. 18 that I did not book.

Like other customers, Expedia said that the email was sent to me, but I don't remember that I received any emails, and that I tried to search for all my emails.
All the stories are made by Expedia, customers can only accept!

I call them for many time and I hope they do something. They only canceled 17 Jan hotels and the air-ticket asked me to talk to Flyscoot.
Flyscoot doesn't want to help me because the booking is thur Expedia.
Than I need to call back Expedia and they say will get back to me after a week
Expedia told me Flyscoot can't cancel and I have to accept the air-ticket.

I supposed to enjoy BUT Expedia just made me have the most bad experience.

Don't book thur them because when thing happen they will tell you Expedia is a agent that can't do anything

Avoid
December 12, 2019

There are so many online options these days that Expedia should not have to be one of your considerations. They might appear to have good prices but beware. In one single trip their baggage cost details were grossly misleading and added cost to the airline ticket afterwords. Their assistance when something went majorly wrong with one of the tickets in our travel group was outrageously poor, to the extent that we simply had to buy a new ticket right there on the airport before departure. A mess up with the car rental booking that was corrected on Expedia's online chat was never completed according to them and lead to a cancellation, loss of payment and having to pay for a new car when we arrived at our destination... Now I have travel extensively all my life and never seen anything like this. If you expect NO PROBLEMS at all when you travel, by all means use Expedia. If you think you may run into even the smallest and snafu, avoid Expedia because all you'll get from them is an offer of a $50 Expedia voucher for the next time you book a disastrous trip thru them!

Deceit and Deceive
December 27, 2022

I wish I could select a "no star" for this company. They are not even worthy of a single start.

I went on their website to book a room at Hotel Del Coronado, and they have about 15 different room type options on their site. I choose the one with the fire pit so my daughter and family can enjoy smores and an evening around the fire. Once we got to the hotel, we discovered that the room description was for a basic room with no fire pit or terrace. We showed them the photo from the Expedia site showing a firepit and a beautiful terrace for that room type. I called Expedia to let them know I had to pay an extra fee to get that room because they deceived me, and we went prepared to enjoy a fire pit room. Expedia said there was nothing they could do and I should request a refund from the hotel. But the hotel has no power over what they advertise on their website. This is a deceit and deception tactic by this phony company! Their customer service is horrible and not helpful. I will never use this company again!

July 3,2013: Doing an online search for hotels in the Salt Lake City area, I dialed a telephone number I believed to be a direct call to the hotel, but instead, I got Expedia. Since I was on the phone, I gave it a shot. (I usually book reservations directly with hotels.)

Anyway, I was in a rush, trying to guarantee a room for my 19-year old son, so I took a chance -- HUGE mistake.

Expedia OUTSOURCES: The representative got my email all wrong thus I never received a confirmation.(I contacted the hotel directly, and they emailed me a confirmation.) The next day, I noticed that my debit card had been double charged. Getting a refund for the second charge turned out to be a total nightmare: over two hours on the telephone trying to deal with Expedia's telephone representatives. I talked to a total of five reps -- ALL had foreign accents and all seemed to have difficulty grasping the facts. I was so frustrated that I sent an email to Expedia, asking them to communicate with me in writing, via email.

By the way, Expedia charged me $17.52 MORE than what the hotel would have charged me had I booked directly with the hotel.

Lesson learned: Make reservations (any type) directly with the vendor whether it's an airline, lodging, car rental, etc. Also: Nearly all vendors will work at matching prices, and always ask about specials, discounts, etc. If you don't ask, they won't tell.

07-08-2013: I'm still waiting for my account to be credited.

On July 5 booked a trip with my wife through EXPEDIA.COM., itinerary # **************. On its website we were made to believe that if we buy travel protection package plan through them, we will have the right to cancel our trip for any reasons without any penalty or fees at any time prior to 48 hours before scheduled of the trip.
When I called Expedia.com to cancel our trip for at least 14 days before our trip was supposed to start, they told me that I will be refunded only for the cheapest part of the trip (ground transportation and hotel) but nothing for the flights tickets as the most expensive part of the trip.?
Who buys travel insurance for the cheapest part of the trip AND NOT for the most expensive part of it - flight tickets?
Called EXPEDIA.COM-at least five time- and complaining about it but nothing. Even on their website I can't find the place to write a review for them.
Why we CAN'T write a review on Expedia website, although we tried hard?

Feel mislead, lied and cheated by them. Shame on EXPEDIA.COM...

Expedia deserves Zero stars
September 23, 2019

I booked tickets in February for Christmas holiday through Expedia with Thomas Cook. So today Thomas Cook collapses and I call Expedia to find out about getting a refund. I've been on the phone with them for over 7 hours. Each time speaking to a higher and higher supervisor. The first clerk was polite and helpful, the second one Irisa was extremely helpful, the third one Dez was arrogant and condescending. Turns out when you give Expedia your credit card they give it to another airline to charge you so my booking was with Condor because they are the issuing agents for Thomas Cook. Condor tells you to contact Thomas Cook, which I can't do since they are closed and no one is answering the phones. Expedia will not agree to issue a letter on my behalf to the bank, they will not ask Condor to do that on my behalf. All he told me is that I should take up the claim the the credit card company. When I explained that my bank is not just going to refund me the money for a flight that is now no longer because they have already paid that money since February he really couldn't care less. All he wanted to point out to me is that Expedia only made $7.92 on my booking! Really? Maybe he could have looked at my history and see how many bookings I had made in the past which I will never make again. Expedia as long as you have rude "supervisors" like Dez you will continue to lose customers!. There are plenty other travel booking sites online

I booked a hotel with Expedia a month ago. Today I was checking it and couldn't find it anywhere. Turns out my reservations were canceled a week ago and Expedia didn't even send me a notice to notify me of the cancellation. Spoke to customer service a guy named Juan and he was absolutely no help whatsoever. So now here I am a week before I need the hotel looking for one because Expedia couldn't have let me know beforehand and because Expedia apparently let's you book hotel rooms that aren't available in the first place. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH EXPEDIA, IT SUCKS.

Expedia Ripped Us Off and they dont care. We (5 family members) were returning from a funeral with a confirmed Expedia itinerary and we were not allowed to board our flight. We were stranded in another country, with no place to stay and no way back to the United States.
- We called customer service multiple times and they acknowledged their mistake but were unwilling to rectify the problem.
- Over 24hrs later, we were still stranded, with no way to go home. Our jobs and school were in jeopardy.
- After paying $7500 for our initial round trip tickets, we were forced to pay an additional $10,000 for one way tickets on a different airline to get back to our families.
- Customer service and Cooperate Office were not helpful but they all apologized for their error but took no responsibility for it.
- We complained on their website and sent an official letter to Expedia, with no response.
- Expedia needs to return our money.

This is an example of how big cooperations use their power to oppress and rip off the rest of us. There is power in numbers so please support us and share.
