Expedia is terrible to work with! Do not travel with them if you can avoid it at all costs! We had booked a flight over a year ago, and we were supposed to travel back in August of 2020. I had a medical condition come up, and I was advised by my doctor not to travel. With covid, and my doctors guidance, I requested my flight to be cancelled and refunded. When I booked this flight, I was told that it was 100% refundable. Here we are nearly a year later and Expedia won't do a single thing for us! We have had the run around and been told that we would receive a refund on several occasions, but still have not received anything.
These guys are scam artists, and will find a way to take your money!
Do not travel with Expedia!
They have good prices and the website is easy to use but be sure of your flight time and date because if it changes after you have confirmed you will be out a large portion of your original ticket price. We had a booking and had to cancel a month before the actual flight and we were charged $350
I've used Expedia several times to book flights, hotels, and rental cars. I have been happy with the prices listed at this site and customer service.
On one occasion, I had an issue, for which I had to call customer service. They resolved my issue to my satisfaction, but communication could have used some improvement.
Another time, I had to make changes to my arrangements, which was done promptly and there wasn't any fees that other companies impose.
Overall I've been happy with Expedia.
Quality travel site that very regularly provides competitive rates for all your travel needs. Simple easy to use interface that operates quickly and has several bells and whistles to help with planning your trip.
I started out using Priceline, Expedia & Travelocity (all 3) when booking trips. Over the years, Priceline is the only one that saves me money on a regular basis. I've had luck booking flights with Travelocity, but never had any luck with Expedia.
Worst customer service ever. I booked trips to Hawaii, Italy, Greece, and Mexico. I paid for direct flights to and from Mexico due to traveling with small children. The direct flight was cancelled and expedia has refused to step up and help with the reimbursement of the difference in flight prices. Very Frustrating and horrible customer service. I will never use them again.
I like to use Expedia for booking tickets and hotels in US, usually they give best price. For European cities and, especially, Eastern Europe they are not so cool, and you'll can find better offers on other websites!
It was good in the beginning, prices were cheap. However the prices are no longer cheap and I dont often make purchases there any more. I wish they would go back to having the best prices, I love their site.
Expedia is terrible, I made the mistake of booking with them one time and will never do it again. I don't usually take the time to review things but I couldn't figure out how to do it on their website so I'm going everywhere else.
Nothing on the website works, so you'll need to call customer service for everything and sit on the phone for 45+ minutes, most of it on hold. Everyone I've talked to in customer service was professional and very kind to me, unfortunately they are not able to do much to help you. They couldn't even send me a receipt for a flight I paid for, what type of business does that? Everything was as difficult as possible and I hope that other people read this and don't waste their time and energy
Here is a summary of what happened.
I searched for Hotels and found one whose price appealed to me. I decided to book it. I was informed of the price breakdown on the screen showing a room rate of $53 CAD a night and $4 in taxes. This gave me a total of $692 CAD. I accepted this rate and got a screen confirmation of the transaction. I then used the Print tab to print a receipt for my records. A few minutes later I received an email confirmation that the charge is $893 and not $692. I tried to explain this to the customer services agent at Expedia with no success.
I'm writing this as I continue to be on hold with expedia for over 2 hours now.
On this one vacation Expedia had managed to cancel a booking, cancel a ticket (after I had called twice to confirm it) and now I'm waiting to find out if they will refund my money for having to purchase a ticket twice.
I find them bewilderingly incompetent
Be very careful making reservations with expedia, thw website was not clear as to what type of reservation I was making. When I tried to change the date that I had made they would not help me further more the reservation was non refundable. This is a costly mistake on my part. A sad pathetic one on their part.
I used to book few flights and vacations with expedia.ca few years ago. Tried to do it again and had a very bad experience. I was looking for some flights to Europe for this summer. I managed to find some good deals for around $7000 for 4 tickets, went through the entire process of providing all details for all 4 members of my family, got to the final step providing my credit card and all of the sudden I got message the price has changed to $9500. I thought that was a bad luck and tried again with slightly different flights, and the same happened. What a scam. I went and booked my tickets with Lufthansa directly with no problem and the original price of ~$7000.
Stay away from Expedia. Unfortinatly Booking.com and other similar sites are pretty much the same, it looks like it is the best to go with hotels and air companies directly.
So... I booked a hotel through Expedia with StayAlfred and thought I was paying $130 for an apartment. The cleaning fee was separate and is $100. I guess I agreed to this, but I don't think I realized this extra cost. I assume hotel fees or taxes, but $100? It's really bugging me. I will stay away from Expedia forever... I'm scarred... and will be probably never book with StayAlfred again. Yikes. I'm $100 over budget!
I bought a round trip ticket through Expedia. Also purchased travel insurance. Had yo cancel. They said I was eligible for refund on only one leg, and that refund would be airline miles not dollars. So with travel insurance I still lost half. Then I rebook and the airline tells me those moles can only be used by higher priced flights.
I bought travel insurance and lost $500
I stayed in an Apartment in Australia for 8 days. I was given a price by Expedia and had it checked again at the apartment desk when I left Australia. When I returned and checked my account, my bill was over $70 higher than what Expedia had quoted and what the apartment had billed. I've called Expedia and connected with a moron and have sent several emails. Nothing has been done and nobody has contacted me again. I seriously suggest anyone dealing with Expedia check their billing. I won't be using them ever again.
We are a hotel in Oregon. We started working with Expedia few months ago. Expedia had continually over billed us for services that we provided for them. When we decided to stop their services, they black balled us and gave us bad reviews though we have nothing but 5 starts with our reviews. We have lost thousands of dollars over their action and continue to lose with our business due to their extortion.
Do not use Expedia. Once your booked getting them back on the line to help will take hours. The cancelation insurance is an added charge that will never be covered. If you use Expedia; do not bother with any coverage of any kind. This is a terrible scam.
Upon arriving at booked hotel we found out it had no elevators or bell service that facilitated handicapped or older folks to second floor. Front desk refused to assist. Called Expedia who called front desk who refused Expedia access to manager. Expedia said they would issue a credit. At no time did I get notified of a credit coupon existing. I rebooked a trip, coupon did not pop up to be used. Upon calling Expedia (after finding phone number on second search, it does not appear on their wed site) I asked for the now existing coupon to be applied. I was told it only applies to future, prepaid trip, none of which I was told and they would not apply to current future trip booked with them. This is the latest in a series of very poor customer service and website issues. I will be looking for another search engine for trip planning. After years of poor service I have had enough.
Expedia is refusing to refund guests who's reservation was cancelled due to Hurrican Ian. They are essentially stealing from customers during catastrophic disaster. What a awful business model they use. Hotel email letting me know about the cancelation but Expedia isn't acknowledging that email. Shameful and Disgusting!
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
Expedia's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and issues with booking accuracy. Many customers report difficulties in reaching live support, leading to frustrations over incorrect reservations, unexpected charges, and inadequate responses to cancellations. While some users appreciate the variety of options available through the platform, the overall sentiment reflects a lack of trust due to perceived unethical practices and inadequate support during critical situations. This feedback suggests a pressing need for Expedia to enhance its customer service responsiveness and transparency to rebuild consumer confidence.
