I made a reservation for a London hotel accidentally on the right days, wrong month. This evening the hotel said ok to changing the dates. They needed a modification from Expedia. Two times I called and got told Expedia’s manager would fix it. I felt uneasy about it so I called back again, now they want to charge me 2 hundred dollars more even though the hotel manager said, there was no change of the price. Expedia was actually trying to charge me more, than the hotel. I was better off taking the loss and going through the hotel directly. By the way they left me on hold for over 25 minutes not to deal with me. They said they did what was policy.
Leaving for Palm Springs in the morning, logged onto our Expedia account to get flight info so we can check in. Found out we have no flight home. Called Expedia and were told Alaska cancelled our return flight. Asked why we weren't notified and were told the cancellation was pending. Asked what they were going to do about it and they said they would refund us our $140. To book a one way flight on another airline at this point will cost over $800
Awful post-service It is difficult to find their phone numbers, and their website does not have an email address. After calling once, I was told to contact a different number, but it didn't work.
I paid for cancellation insurance only to be told it would be in the form of a credit. Go to book a flight with my credit and was told I owed an additional 1800 dollars. How can I get my money back before my year is up. Thank you
I tried renting a car for a family holiday. Expedia rented me a car that didn't exist, from a pick-up point that had closed a year earlier. I was standing in Central London next to an abandoned building. Expedia were totally useless on the phone and were leaving me to travel around London trying to find a solution. If it wasn't for Europcar giving us a replacement car immediately, we would have been unable to go on our holiday as planned.
Expedia also charged me international insurance because they had mistakenly thought I was booking the car from the US. Europcar had no choice but to separately charge me UK insurance.
Despite explaining these points to Expedia, minimal sympathy was offered and no compensation beyond an 18 pound voucher on a future purchase.
I just finished a trip to Boston. I was charged an extra $45 for parking. When I reached out to Expedia, they just shrugged their shoulders and pointed at the hotel. I told them they should make the customer aware of extra fees and they shrugged again.
I booked a stay in the Italian alps through Expedia. The hotel does not allow cancellations and I bought insurance. Expedia double booked the reservation (same days and everything). They refuse to refund me for one of the reservations and the hotel will not refund. I submitted to my credit card as a dispute but I will no longer use Expedia for my trips and I've been a customer of theirs for years.
Use Expedia maybe to find good rates but BOOK DIRECTLY with hotel! I had a flight cancel over Christmas and could not make it to my hotel. I called the hotel and they understood but lacked since Expedia led he reservation, the hotel could not cancel. Expedia basically said, "too bad, so sad" and charged me 1 night lodging while claiming it was the hotel's fault! What a joke. Book directly, if anything goes wrong, you will be glad you did!
I prefer Expedia over every other booking site. I like the reward system and I trust everything I find on there. I feel the ratings and the user reviews are extremely helpful. I did use another hotel site recently, but it was new and hasn't had much advertising, so I can't even remember the name. I wish Expedia had an even larger variety of hotel offerings, like that website had though.
Using Expedia as a third party for a flight ended being such a horrible experience. I only wanted to make a flight change and I was played around and told by Expedia that I need to contact the airlines and the airlines told me to go and contact Expedia. I contacted both many times (more than 2 weeks before the flight date) and nobody helped. Then I tried to cancel my flight and again I was told the same thing so I ended losing the flight. No refund or travel voucher was given and it won't be as they already confirmed. Expedia Customer Service is very poor. Pls make sure to read some reviews before buying anything from this company. As a good advice, always try to buy directly from the airlines.
I used Expedia a few times and the few times I used them I never had to cancel my trip until now. I understand it's a Pandemic going on now which is why I'm trying to cancel my flight. I've been trying for 3 days straight, online isn't helpful at all, I even waited to speak with a live agent, which sucks, I've been on hold for 3-5 hours straight to be hung up on 4 times. I've been patient because of the crisis WE ALL are experiencing, but hours long of wait time just to be hung up on is a slap in the face as a paying consumer. I will never use this service again! I even purchased the protection plan but I'm sure that doesn't work in my favor. I just wish they knew how to navigate better as a big company when their is a crisis; instead of leaving consumers in suspense. All I can do is fill out the cancel request form, hope I get my refund, hope for the best.
Very sketchy business practices. Customer Service is non-existent. Be very careful when you cancel a reservation. I got scammed out of $200 when I cancelled my reservation as they never provided a confirmation email when I did it. Worst travel booking website I came across. You will also find better deals elsewhere. Better to book directly with the hotel.
Would expect greater value out of Expedia. Only offered to stay on first floor, where utilities, and other services are. Construction. Was told I'm not able to move to a different place because of Expedia's rules, need to be on the first floor.

To sum it up, this was the worst experience I've had booking. My booking was wrong, the car company is horrid, they lied about their cancelation policy, a staff member canceled my rental insurance without me asking for it to be done, ruining any chance I had at getting my money back due to a medical emergency. The fee was supposed to be nonexistent, then it was $100, then it was $161.97. They just lie and scam their way into being a ratty little middle man.
Be careful when using Expedia. I had a problem with double booking which I was unable to fix. I called and they said no such bookings but yet charges for the bookings where already on my credit card. I tried their Virtual Agent with even less luck. Never again Expedia for me. I paid the two cancelation fees and wrote the cost off to a lesson learned.
I have used Expedia for well over a decade and have always been very satisfied with their service. They have always assisted me with questions, travel glitches and changes. I have found their services reliable, predictable and will continue to use them.
I booked a ticket from my expedia account for my father in law to travel from Cairo, Egypt. I even purchased the insurance policy. Trip got cancelled for medical emergency. Expedia will not give me back the credit to my Expedia account so I can use it for future travel for myself or refund it to my account. They want to credit for my father in law and to be limited to him and his future travel from Cairo if even happen. So It it was all fraud. That means I will lose the money. The man may not even come back again. Something they never mentioned when I bought the ticket or when I purchased the insurance policy. If this is not fraud, am not sure wat else I can call

WAS the worst site ever... kept having errors at the end of the booking and each time i tried again it cost more and the same ending results... then charged me anyway at the end with no booking... tried to contact to resolve the problem and customer service doesn't exist... what a joke... don't use them.
Stay away from company, expedia will give you a $240 a week car rental and the rental company will not accept US insurance or credit card coverage, they want to charge $50 a day for their insurance! Expedia will not refund citing terms conditions but do not reveal what they want to charge for insurance!
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
