Have used CruiseDirect a couple of times, and will definitely do it again.
So we booked a cruise with cruise direct this year. Once they had our money they were not interested in communicating with us much anymore. We had several problems booking into the cruise company only to find out the cruise company also had misinformation. This was not the fault of cruise direct.
But I can assure you that between the two of them persistently passing the buck neither company attempted to contact me directly I even posted on Facebook pages complaints trying to contact these companies numerous phone calls numerous live chat with promises repeated promises to contact me in 48 hours. Meantime I initiated almost all contacts. Still they pass the buck to the other company

Don't believe their price guarantee, and be aware of the hidden fee to change/cancel by cruisedirect. They want $35 per person to cancel even cruiseline doesn't charge.
False advertisement. They said no cancellation fee but then try to charge $35 per person
They claim to be BBB Accredited Business but there is no record of them in bbb.org
Don't believe their 'Book with confident' but they don't back it

I booked the cruise and the site says guaranteed low price. Well 2 days after my booking the price dropped by almost $200. I called back and they said because it's past 24 hours they can't honor it.
I booked a cruise with them 2 days ago. So far so good. They registered my on-board ship credit within a day. Their offers were slightly better than Expedia, Priceline, cruisecritic, etc. What I'm most impress so far is the customer service. It is so quick and friendly. I am dealing with Eugene Marc-Henry through on-line chat and he's very helpful. So far so good, I'll update after my cruise, hopefully 5 stars remain!
I try to ask some basic questions about the group discount. The CSR keep asking my person info such as email and phone number. Even I told him I am not ready to order and I am not comfortable to give that. He just keep going around your question but don't want to answer. I never see this kind of customer service before. How can I trust them and place the order if it is so tricky from the inquiry at the beginning?

For group rates there is not a set discount amount, every ship and sail date differs so the agent was not able to give you an estimated discount. Most groups have a lower rate, a lower deposit amount, an onboard credit and a free cruise fare for one guest if you book 8 or more staterooms. First, they charged me more than the published rate and then it took almost an hour on chat to get it straightened out. Booked ocean view with Cruise Direct and they gave us the worst room EVER and then declined to help us with another room. Book through them and expect the rooms the cruise line won't book. The customer service rep was very rude and told me if not happy I could just cancel for $440! Never again.
Hello Sherry, I am sorry to hear you did not have a good experience with our chat room. When you book a guarantee cabin it is assigned by the cruise line closer to sailing. Cruise Direct does not have the ability to select the cabin or change it once it is assigned. We do explain this at the time of booking but I am sorry that you were unhappy with the cabin assignment. Booked a great fare with CruiseDirect.com. After a couple of months they claim it was a glitch in there system. If you look on the internet you see that this has happened before with cruise direct. There are other options out there. There customer service is just as bad. Never get back to you. Never send you a invoice. Very unreliable.
I love customer service from cruise direct, they are helpful people for us who want to tour around for the first time. They do reply in timely manner and make sure we are satisfied for everything we need to know and have it ready before boarding.
From beginning to end this was a seamless transaction, user friendly web site and wonderful customer service. Chatted in with questions about what's included and what to expect to pay for, along with questions about ports to visit and all my questions were answered, very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly! My cruise went wonderfully without any surprises!

I recently wrote a review about a $100 coupon that was promised to me by cruise direct when I booked a cruise for me and my son on the Cunard flagship. I had tried for months to get the coupon with no success and finally gave up and wrote the review. It was a poor review and soon after I was contacted by a cruise direct staff member offering to resolve my problem if I retracted my review and that I would be compensated additionally for all the time Id spent going back and forth. I received another email with yet another link to a coupon and surprise, surprise after choosing an Amazon gift card this one did not work as well but I spent over an hour trying to get it to work all the Amazon site said was that the code given had already been redeemed. Of course I complained again and once again I've received no reply. It would seem that cruise direct has no intention of treating its customers correctly and I would advise anyone considering to book a cruise to reconsider using cruise direct.
