When the Century Link contractor buried the Century Link cable he cut a electric line that went to a yard light and sump pump. I didn't notice until several weeks later. I called Century Link and was hung up on 4 times. Each time I had to go through the same system to reach someone who was connecting me with risk management. Then the line disconnected. I made sure they had my call back number. They called me back one of the 4 times but I was then disconnected again. Each time I was on the phone with them over 25 minutes. It has now been over an hour since the last hang up and no call back.
It took over 4.5 hours of sweat to discover a tech needed to come out a week later to setup my internet. I was told it would take minutes to set up my new internet service, and if I needed help I could call or talk online. I got outright bad info from the tech on the phone and when the online person couldn't figure it out, they just left the convo. Frustrating, maddening, not helpful, —you too could have that if you chose to go anywhere near Centurylink. Good luck. I have had none with them. That's 4.5 hours I will never get back.
I have been getting harassing calls and want to change from my current number to a new number. Have been transferred back and forth from CLink to another department and no one at either place can handle this. Nor can I find an online link so I can do it myself.
I was a customer of yours for 21 years at 3 different homes since 2000. I moved to Kuna. CenturyLink said Quantum served my address. Quantum said CenturyLink served my address. After finger pointing for a month, Quantum said they served my home. The installer was here for 5 hours, and then told me to contact CenturyLink. To this day, CenturyLink says to go to Quantum. Insane. After many calls to both companies, CenturyLink supervisors don't return my calls. Everyone knows your customer service is bad. There are at least other 3 competitors in my area, and now one of them has my money.
What a joke! The technician was to show between 8am-5pm. They never showed. When I contacted the service I was told to please wait another hour that the technician left them no notes so they should be there soon. Still nothing. I was irate after taking a day off for this. After talking to six different people they offered to reschedule my service! The audacity! After finally screaming at them I think I'm getting the activation fee reimbursed and their awful service canceled. I'm not sure how they run a business when they don't have any inkling as to how to handle customer service.
CenturyLink service is at best "average". I hate to see the Century Link truck at the corner of the road in my rural neighborhood. That usually means that service is going to be horrible very shortly. I recently contacted Century Link virtual assistant to cancel my service. The person I "drew" was not from the United States and did not have a handle on English language. That was frustrating. The rep kept asking the same question over and over with the same syntax and spelling problems. I hope that I am doing the right thing when I return my equipment. Last time, I received a $400 bill, and they claimed that they never received it. I will be looking for another provider (not Century Link) when I arrive to my new home.
Worst customer service in the world. If you have a problem you are SCREWED! Got my new modem yesterday and wouldn't connect. After being transferred multiple times and over 5 hours on the phone they finally listened to my request to send a tech to my home. I told the scheduling agent I had an appointment in the morning but would be available in the afternoon. He said he would make me the last appointment of the day. So in the morning I get a text stating they would be here by noon. WTF?!?!? I can't reply to them as I was on the interstate. Complete incompetence on every level!
I called customer service because I was overcharged by $90.00; my monthly charge is $45.00. I was told that Direct TV billed through Century Link was the one that overcharged me. I called Direct TV and was told that Direct TV did not overcharged me (I talked to the President's assistant).
I filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau against Century Link. They never responded.
I went on their website and use the virtual assistant. When asked the reason of my call, I started to type the detail I am writing here, the chatting closed claiming I did not respond quick enough.
So in depth with complaints not enough room in this review. Horrible & incorrect billing service since August 2013, received bills in mail with 3 erroneous acct numbers assigned to me, each bill had an incorrect address, each bill was incorrect, spoke to over 12 customer service reps and none could correct and am still in December 2013 seeing incorrect bills, incorrect addresses and on and on, ready to go to FCC and probably will. Do not expect any customer service from this organization
Had to select a rating of at least 1, or I would have selected 0. Have experienced the absolute worst customer service ever. They've just scheduled a phone repair technician for the 3rd time, first 2 were no shows after waiting for them all day. 3 times trying to chat with a representative to report the issue, the first I was transferred 4 times and lasted over 45 minutes. The 2nd attempt was headed the same way so I quit and called. Could not get a representative on the phone, even though the robo voice said I was being transferred, had to answer a few more questions and was told Good-bye and hung up on. 3rd attempt at chatting resulted in a 3rd appointment for tomorrow, the representative could see no reason noted in the ticket as to why the technician did not show up or why the service was cancelled. Supposedly they rescheduled for tomorrow, but I see no confirmation that happened.
The worst company I've ever dealt with. The extort you and tell you lies about the deals that you are actually never going to receive. Customer service is as big of a joke as the internet speeds that they provide.
NEVER EVER do business with these clowns.
Poor customer care, their service/repair is comical. Suddenly home phone and internet stops working, can't get a live person on the phone, in chat I set up a service call, 5 days later on the scheduled service appointment the technician does not show up at all, still can't talk to live person, so in chat again they can give me no answers and no promises but they tell me the only thing I can do is reschedule which is now 9 days later. 9 days later still nothing! So two weeks without home phone or Internet maybe fun for some but I have a 24 y/o son at home on permanent disability that now cannot contact me when I am at work if something goes wrong or is needed. There is no cell service around my home so we depend solely on CenturyLink Monopoly landline that they seem to care not to provide. I told them about my son's needs but that issued no urgency at all. I should have a choice for telecommunication / internet provider in my area... The fact that I don't have a choice and the fact that CenturyLink KNOWS THAT is why they can act as cold and heartless as they do.
I asked centurylink to move my landline phone to another location, but do NOT turn off the internet at the current location. They did move the landline, but turned off the internet. They said it would take 6 days to correct their mistake. I asked for a NEW landline number at the current address. I was told centurylink did not know how to do that. My 92 year old Mom moved to a extended care facility 3 blocks away and she wanted to keep her old phone number. I cancelled centurylink and went with a Xfinity.
One star is one too many. We moved to Colorado from California in April 2020, and promptly researched available internet service. We saw that CenturyLink was advertising 900+ mbs fiber optic service at $65 per month for life. That deal sounded too good to be true, so we called to confirm, and was told that was really was the deal. We'd never heard of CenturyLink before, but decided to go with them, and had the equipment installed. Everything was fine for 3 years, at $65 per month, until they raised our monthly fee to $75 in May. I called in about the price increase and advised the representative that our price was fixed for life. She very rudely told me that I was wrong, that CenturyLink never offered a price for life, and that it was just for a promotional period. I told her she was correct, and that the promotional period was for my life. I had looked for any paperwork confirming the original offer, but I could only find my notes, which were consistent with my recollection. I asked the representative for our original agreement, and she said they don't keep those. I know I"m not delusional because my wife recalls the same thing, and in perusing the CenturyLink reviews, I see that we're not the only customers with the same experience. In addition to their breach of contract, the CenturyLink representative is possibly the rudest customer disservice person I've ever encounterd.
I purchased a bundle package of phone, internet and tv from centurylink I was quot5ed 129.39 a month for this package. When my first full months bill arrived it was 168.00. I called to try to correct this problem but all I got from centurylink was that I misunderstood. There was no misunderstanding because I wrote everything down. I asked to cancel the transaction but they informed me that it would cost me 440.00 to cancel.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THE INTERNET UNEXPECTEDLY WENT OUT FOR MULTIPLE DAYS DUE TO A "SERVICE OUTAGE." NO WARNING, NO HEADS UP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO GET THE INTERNET BACK UP QUICKLY. THIS IS INEXCUSABLE FOR PAYING CUSTOMERS AND THEY ARE VERY UNRELIABLE. I REPEAT, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

I wasn't provided with the service, all emails that I sent were reported as scam, and there was no way to contact their customer support. I wouldn't recommend going through them for a service, and hope that this review reaches others looking for these services as a warning.
On May 21,2023 we lost internet. As of today May 28th we are still waiting. Every day we get a message stating that by 6pm the next day the problem should be fixed. One of the days the message read by 11am. That day has long passed. Now received notice not until May 30th - heaven forbid one would work a Sunday or Memorial Day to satisfy this customer? Oh well come Tuesday I will call the corporate number and also T-Mobile the get one of their flat rate internet modems for a flat rate of $50 a month and couple it with my service and upgraded I-phone. So long CenturyLink.
It took me months to get out of CenturyLink clutches. I reported them to all known regulatory agencies. Washington Attorney General finally resolved but CenturyLink continued billing me for hondreds of dollard for zero service. CenturyLink president finally closed out collections.
Answer: Don't pay your bill. Centurylink has the worst customer service on the planet. The best way to cancel anything with them is to cancel the payment. Don't give them a dime and eventually they will get the message.
Answer: Don't bother with either. Centurylink has the worst routers on the planet. Literally designed to fail. No matter what router you get from them, it won't last more than 6 months. If you are stuck with Centurylink and need a good router, go to Best Buy and ask them for a Netgear router. They can help you set it up.
CenturyLink has a rating of 1.2 stars from 142 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases.
