I have sent in numerous requests for additional information or a call back. Never got a response from any of the sellers but they continue to advertise the business for sale.
I got a few robot enquiries immediate from strange very far away countries all with the same lead in "send me more information about this business". Then I recieved one from a company I recognized (the name and location were viewable), so I facebook. Messaged them. No response! I emailed, no response! I have no faith in the legitimacy of this site.
Great site and helpful staff. If I ever need help, they get back to me promptly. Thank you everyone!
I put my business for sale on businessesforsale.com in May 2020, in the middle of COVID madness and on-top of it, its a hospitality business. Within days of placing the advert, I had inquires. As time progressed, the inquires kept coming in, I have actually removed the advert for now to give myself time to focus on the current inquires. Due to COVID, lack of flights, travel restrictions the potential buyers were unable to visit the property so I am giving them time to visit the property.
I did advertise on other websites, but this was by far the best.
They are also super friendly.

I tried the free listing first to see if this was legitimate. My short letter below explains my experience. ĺ
Dear Mr. Adams.
I have had 3 enquiries YOU say have shown an interest in my business. And to pay a fee to be put in touch with them.
So... I tried an experiment.
I sent in my own enquiry on my own business. My daughter sent in one. And an associate sent in another. Thats 3 times.
I did this, as I was content to pay the money, but wanted to check if your enquiries were legitimate.
I believe they are made up, to entice me to pay the money. If this is true, this is an appalling way to run a business. I am reporting this, and if I do not get a satisfactory answer, will post on social media.

The Limited Trial is there to help sellers test the market and see if there is buyer demand for their type of business – if they feel the demand is there they can commit to pay for their advertising and unlock the contact details of interested buyers. We think this is a fair model; it has worked and is working incredibly well for thousands of sellers.
When you sign up, there is a notification message explaining that buyer details will be available after you upgrade your advert to a paid subscription. We have tried to make this as clear as possible.
Once you receive your first buyer lead this will trigger a 20-day countdown timer, after which time your limited free trial will end and you will need to upgrade to a paid subscription to receive these buyer leads.
To address your claim that you received fake buyer leads, it seems you are the reason for these fake leads as you asked family members and an associate to make enquiries on your own business. You have disregarded all the positive reviews from successful sellers, who have found legitimate buyers from using our service.
We have an in-house team dedicated to reviewing any potential spam leads that pass through our system and removing them before they are even delivered into your account inbox. We do try our upmost to remove and limit any potential spam before it reaches you. However, we are not able to do background checks on every individual buyer lead that you receive, this will be why your family member and associate’s enquiries were able to be processed via our system. We always advise contacting your interested buyers to vet them yourself to find out if they are genuine buyers.
If any business seller does receive leads that do turn out to be spam, we always ask the seller to forward them to us so we can investigate and remove them from abusing our service further.
It takes on average 6 to 9 months for sellers to find a buyer through our website and we are still committed to helping you achieve your goal of selling your business.

They offer free trial to list your business for sale for few days, then they send you FAKE inquiries.
You can not respond to those inquiries unless if you pay for their membership.
Absolutely a waste of time to list your business just to find out that it's not free.
They claim that it's for you to test if your business listing would get any potential buyers! Total bs and waste of time.
Reading other similar reviews, I see that those who did pay in order to respond to those "Fake" inquiries, realized that they were fake and they were never able to communicate with them.
I hope all business owners read these reviews before wasting their hard earned money and valuable time.

First of, let me tell you that I'm not so impressed with Site Jabber, and for a reason: I can't tell from the most reviews if they were written by people who actually bought any package from BusinessesForSale or not. Most other popular sites - like Trust Pilot, Amazon and others - have an option such as a "Verified buyer" or similar, that makes it almost impossible to place fake reviews as someone who hasn't experienced the services or products herself. This is why I attach a proof of purchase to this review of mine. Now you know that I know what I'm talking about, first-hand.
I personally have been dealing with BusinessesForSale (businessesforsale.com) for over four years (on behalf of our company, of course). In the meantime, I personally dealt with three different persons, with the last one (and the one I'm still dealing with) - for three years. (Her name starts with I*.) I've also been dealing - over the years - with 11 other sites like this one, selling businesses. I can tell you from my own experience, without reservations: BusinessesForSale is not only the best (of those I dealt with, of course) - they are lighting years ahead of the two other quite popular sites I had a lot of experience with. Sure, it's a lot about their marketing practices and the way everything works that their success can be attributed to. But, for me, every (!) time I had to discuss (please note: I'm talking about real discussions, not canned customer service answers) our needs and asked for input, their advice was terrific. Every time. Now, I'd also like to highlight all my recent (and not so recent) experience with the person I'm still in touch with: every time dealing with her is a pleasure and delight. Like with doctor, I explain our issues and goals - and get the right advice every time. Let me tell you: this worked. This works. At least, for us.
While I'm usually not so keen about commenting on other comments, I think that, this time, I must provide some input. I read that some reviewers were not quite happy with the fact that, after a trial period, the site wants to get paid to release details of those who contacted the prospective seller. I'm not quite sure, why is it being considered a "scam" or even "the worst scam ever". Consider other sites: you pay and then get nothing in return. Good luck trying to recuperate your investment! Here, however, you risk nothing: you pay only f you see that your ad generates incoming inquiries. Also, I've personally experienced not so seldom when prospective buyers badmouthed us just because we didn't want to bind for any unreasonable demand. Things like that happen and our world isn't perfect...
All in one, I'd say: if you want to spend some real money for real results - this is the site for you. No doubts. You'll thank yourself later for having done it (and receive, probably, a super-hug from the shareholders once the business gets sold).

What a waste of money, 4 inquiries none of them are legitimate. How on earth these people sleep with these kind of fraud mind.
Hope something bad happens to them because they took my hard earned money which hard to spend.

I signed up a day ago and today I've got 2"Inquiries" but they want bussinessforsale me to pay first to be able to get in contact with the potential buyers. Same pattern than most of the reviews are describing. Pretty stupid to do the same all the time, I got suspicious when I immediately got 2 responses after one day so I started investigating about this company and looks like I was right with my feeling:-)

Regarding the good initial response rate, you have mentioned, in a general search, adverts are displayed chronologically. All new adverts will get more views and enquiries from general searches and as the advert ages, the views and leads will come from key-word and category searches. Adverts with a comprehensive description of the business will receive a constant number of views and enquiries throughout the advertising period - our website uses your content to best match Buyers and Sellers.

This is the worst scam ever, childish scam, the dumbest scam in the world. So I listed my business for sale the next day I received two inquiries. But never again after that. So this is to make you hyped about selling your business, it is a robot that sends the message, and after that never got even views on it. The worst service on earth. The dumbest scammers on earth. BusinessesForSale.com is an advertising platform, not a brokerage company and we do not take commissions or get involved in the sale of your business. We offer a platform for you to advertise your business privately and be seen by interested buyers. We have been very clear about this throughout.
The enquiries you have received are from buyers that have found our website when looking for businesses to buy - as you found our website as a place to advertise.
The advert you have created is a limited trial to test the market. It does not involve any monetary commitment on your part if you believe the buyer interest doesn’t justify a paid subscription. While your advert was live for 20 days, it was seen by 129 users and received 4 enquiries from interested buyers.
You have chosen not to proceed to a subscription with us that would allow you to contact them and it is unfortunate that you have made up your mind about these four buyers without exploring their enquiries. As a result, your experience doesn’t reflect a full user experience that other sellers have made good use of.
I am sure you can appreciate that the cost to advertise privately is of great value. In our reply to you, we have offered a way to help with the cost, but we did not hear back from you.
If you prefer to pay a commission at the sale, a broker would be suited to offer that. We work with brokers worldwide that are advertising on our website, and we list all of them in our Services Directory.

Regarding your query with us, I sincerely regret you could not see the value in our service that so many other business owners have when trying to sell their business. Looking through your work with us, we do not believe you were genuinely interested in selling your business, but you were happy to avail of our time and help.
We saw that you received a buyer enquiry and listed your business for sale as being ‘Under Offer’ on the site. You then demanded a refund and threatened to upload negative reviews about us.
For every query you raised, we offered a solution that would help you sell the business. In good faith, we also offered you additional free help and services that are worth hundreds of dollars to help - you rejected this every time.
Your approach does not match the serious sellers who have sold their business through us.
