I'm usually not one to pen negative reviews, but my recent experience with briliance.com compels me to share a cautionary account that others might find instructive.
As a seasoned patron of briliance.com since 2021, my journey with them had been marked by the acquisition of nine distinct diamonds. My latest endeavor involved two separate purchases: a 1.7 ct diamond and a 1.5 ct diamond, each unique in its characteristics. However, an unexpected turn occurred when Ariel McMullen from briliance.com informed me that both my orders were being treated as final sales under a policy against 'comparison purchasing'. This policy was misapplied in my case, as my intention was to purchase two distinct items, not to compare them.
Adding to my dismay was Ariel's approach. Without seeking to understand my intentions or clarify my needs, I was unceremoniously told that my second order was canceled and was prompted to return the first diamond, bearing the return shipping costs. This was all conveyed in a message ending with a smiley face, an element I found both inappropriate and somewhat mocking.
This situation isn't about the financial burden of return shipping, but about the principle and apparent lack of customer insight. Consequently, I decided to return the item I initially intended to keep and to seek my future diamond purchases elsewhere, even at a higher cost.
After packaging and sending back the diamond, I reached out to COO Jonathon Ohayon, hoping to highlight what might not be an isolated issue. The lack of response was disheartening. It seems that the loss of one customer might be insignificant to them, but I believe they should consider the broader implications of such service experiences. To those considering a purchase from briliance.com: buyer beware.
I had a custom engagement ring made through brilliance.com, and had a very positive experience. I was initially leery of making such a large purchase online without actually feeling the product in my hands first, but a friend had recommended it, their pricing was good, and the custom design process was very easy. I had a specific date that I needed the ring by, and Anthony worked with me to make sure that I had a quality ring by the time that I needed it. My (now) fiance absolutely loves it, so I couldn't be more pleased!
Recap of my custom design process: I simply sent in some pictures and a few descriptions of changes I wanted to the ring. We went through a few iterations of me seeing a Brilliance.com rendering, me asking Anthony for specific tweaks, Anthony relaying my requests to a designer, the designer sending me a new rendering within about 2 days, and repeating. There was a bit of a miscommunication at one point where I don't think that my intentions and/or the designer's limitations were clearly communicated, and I think that me getting on the phone to speak directly with the designer likely would have brought more clarity sooner, but an understanding was eventually reached. Ultimately, I had to adjust my original vision a bit in order to reach a design that the brilliance.com designer said was feasible, but after we did reach a final design and I put the rest of my money down, I had a beautiful ring in my hands 2 weeks later.
I absolutely love my diamond and couldn't be happier. I will always choose brilliance! I purchased a 3 carat emerald diamond to die for! Ty so much brilliance
Anthony Cappola helped me throughout the entire process. They were able to custom make a ring and have it delivered in a week and a half which normally takes 5 weeks, UNBELIEVABLE. I received the ring a day prior to my request, opened the box and the ring was REMARKABLE. I gave the ring to my wife for our 20th Wedding Anniversary, she LOVED IT! Truly appreciate the effort by Anthony to make our Anniversary one of our best. Thank you so much!

Brilliance.com was a very user friendly site! It was a great experience purchasing from them, because they were easy to talk to about everything. I ordered my ring and needed it by a certain date in order to propose and so they were able to move a little faster I guess then they are use to, to accommodate my need. That being said it took them 15 business days on a rush I think it would have be 20 "business days" I put a quotation over business days because it was longer that all in all. Weekends didn't count. What I wasn't too fond of about that is they basically give you ten days to return the ring and get your money back on their 30 day return policy, since it starts the day of purchase online. I think it should start the day you receive it in hand. The ring and diamond itself were legit and looked wonderful you shouldn't have to worry on if you are getting a fake one, especially if you have a certificate of authentication along with the diamond. Lastly, I probably wont work with them to have my ring cleaned or fixed, because it bothers me a little with all the news out there about people shipping their rings off to be fixed or cleaned and not actually getting the diamond the bought back. That hurts and online jeweler the most I think. Luckily my local jewelers clean for free and fix for a small fee.
I usually don't leave reviews online (who actually takes the time to leave a good review) but I wanted to share my experience working with Brilliance.com When it came time to get engaged my fiancé wanted me to pick out my setting and diamond. Naturally I started my hunt looking through different styles online and in magazines. When I finally settled on a unique ring I took the design to a Local Jeweler (he made my brothers ring) to have made. My fiancé and I were able to look at center diamonds in the store and choose one we liked. At the time we believed we were getting a great price and gave our approval for the jeweler to get started. When I came back 6 weeks later (yes it actually took him that long) to pick up my ring the quality was poor, it looked nothing like the design I wanted and our engagement was ruined.
After spending the better part of 3 weeks getting the jeweler to return the ring and diamond we found Brilliance.com! The experience was completely different from the communication on the design to the value of the center diamond. They worked with us to understand what we wanted and took the time to make multiple revisions to the design until we were satisfied.
Beyond the design the center diamond was a much better value and actually came with a GIA report. Brilliance has earned our business and trust for life!

In fact, lab diamonds are so identical that most expert diamond graders need to use a machine to detect their origin (lab or natural). However, some people claim that they can see a difference, or that lab diamonds have a slightly bluer sparkle to them. Overall, the answer is that they look the same to most people.

Many times the diamonds with the best prices in a given carat and quality range will have fluorescence because, as you mention, it may make the diamond cloudy (though most of the time it does not). Fluorescence affects each diamond differently and we recommend that a gemologist inspect the diamond visually to determine if fluorescence has affected a particular diamond.
