Better World Books

I have always had a good experience with BWB. Books have arrived in the condition advertised. As a frequent buyer, I usually just select books that are sourced directly from BWB. Yes, I have received some books that were formerly library books, but there are times when libraries need to clear older books to make room for the new. I'd rather see a book reused in this way than sent to recycle. BWB has had books that I haven't been able to find anywhere (well maybe on amazon for literally 3 times the price). I also like that through my purchase, I'm helping literacy causes too.

Books in great condition for cheap, fast and inexpensive shipping too! I was skeptical at first since I have never bought books online but this is an amazing website. I bought about 10 already! Thank you for getting me out of my reading funk

Ordered a book - as it indicated it was LARGE print. I received a regular print. They responded quickly and here is their reply: "I am sorry that the item did not arrive in the format that you were expecting. Unfortunately, it was not listed accurately. We realize that this was not your mistake, however, I am afraid we cannot exchange it. I have gone ahead and issued you a full refund for this item. Your account should be credited within the next few business days. There is no need to return it to us. You may enjoy it yourself, or you may wish to donate it to a local organization in need. We hope you can recycle it otherwise. Again I'm very sorry about this error. Please be sure to let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns."
When I called customer service - they indicated same and that they did not have a Large Print that I could order. I will give them another try. Everyone deserves a second chance. But they NEED to list their offerings accurately.

I love what BWB does regarding literacy, and recycling books. I always check here first before I buy any. Because there is free shipping, I appreciate the low prices of the books! (of course they are garage sale prices, but this is a business!)
My son is very pleased with the two books he received. One had been a library book, and it had the markings from that. But it was also $25 less than purchased new, that helps a LOT! Who cares about library markings when you save that kind of money?

This website is simply the best way to satisfy your hunger for books. I've been buying books at BWB for THIRTEEN years now. I probably bought almost a hundred books. Books are usually in an better condition than mentioned, but many do come from libraries, so they have stickers/stamps/etc. Interior is usually absolutely clean. I only had ONE single problem once (wrong book sent), recently, and they were both super responsive and refunded me immediately. PLUS the money goes to charities. That's just the best.

I ordered a book in Very Good condition and received an Ex-Library book with stickers on the spine and stamps inside. The binding was loose, the book heavily used and the condition could be listed as Fair, if it hadn't been Ex Library. Better World Books clearly misrepresented the condition of this book. I have sold used books and know how the condition code works, you can pick ONE from: New, Very Good, Good, Fair, and Ex-Library. It's like your age. You only get to choose one. You can't be 40 and 16. The whole industry agrees on this. My receipt even says Condition: Very Good. Their customer service sent me a canned response of "We work with many libraries who send their overstocked books or old editions for us to sell. The libraries then select a local charity or one of our literacy partners to receive a portion of the proceeds, in addition to earning funds for their own programs." So they justify misrepresenting book condition by using words like "charity" and "literacy partners". They were not apologetic at all, just send it back if you don't like it. You know they are just going to list it again as Very Good and fool the next customer. It sounds like all their books are Ex Library. Just avoid these guys. They are hustlers.
