I felt like I was burring my best friend when I clicked on the delete button.
WU was my buddy, my "go to" in need, I introduced him to all my friends.
Then he started hanging with the wrong people and out of no where became unbearable and difficult to be around. I didn't recognize him anymore and he just wasn't giving me the attention I needed.
I implore all of you to track down those responsible for ruining my best friend, I think they could use a reality intervention.
RIP WU app...
Used to love this app and website. But over the past year it has gotten horrible. I now see TWC owns it, which totally make sense. I moved away from TWC cause it was slow, now they ruined UW. Time to find a new place!
USED to be... now, it's basically useless... it copies weather.com's data and their "wundermap" doesn't even load or work. It used to be great... but for over 8 months, never works.
It's a "wunder" they can even sell advertising for this crummy site... look at the reviews... they are the donald trump of weather services.
Hello, I'm a professional Meteorologist with a background at NOAA and the media, currently in research and consulting after a long career. I am positive that the Weather Channel sought to minimize the impact of Intellicast as a competitor by absorbing the content, then dumbing it down. The strategy was to drive more views to the Weather Channels own site. As with everything they have done, the people making decisions have never been in science, and have no idea that a professional culture numbering in the 100's of thousands use atmospheric data, satellite, radar and almanacs to run other ventures. Intellicast was a service that understood those people. The Weather channel is somewhere between Bill Nye and Al Roker trying to sit at the grownups table. Dear Weather Channel, you are the clowns at the party, and not the guest. FYI...
In the future the app community will use the phrase 'dont wunderground it!' to warn of impending app update doom.
What a complete travisty.
Obviously the bad changes were intentional. And designed to eliminate useful features and hide others. What would be the motivation to do this?
I deleted my weather station from their site. They won't help me, I won't help them.
Wunderground used to be the best place for weather, their weather maps were the best and now pretty much unresponsive. Quit outsourcing, hire someone who knows what they are doing. Your web dev team is terrible. The site is super slow and the nexrad radar doesn't work properly.
Weather Underground for years had quick concise easy to use information. Now most of the time the site responds, "Try again later." This goes on and on, day after day. Then it wakes up and is great for a few hours. The manager and director of the site apparently don't care or work for a competitor.
"Try again later"
"Try again later"
"Try again later"
The 24-hour graph of predicted cloud cover, precip, wind speed etc was great. I used it to find the best time of day to hike and fly model aircraft. Now the graphic is available only for the 10-day forcast; it's not possible to zoom in on today. The tabular hourly forcast is cumbersome, not nearly as helpful.
Weekly-readerish and infantile. An embarrassment by all measures. After a long subscriber history, now looking at NOAA and Weatherstreet with the once every 2-3 mo. Check for a change back to a functional and data-driven format.
Wunderground used to be a great weather site. Now its all ads and slow load times, crashes and less easy to dig down for real data. Each redesign, desktop or mobile variants is just getting less usable.
AND they encouraged people to setup PWS and give them the free weather data so they can monetize it, great...
Intellicast maps were exactly what I needed; the Wunderground maps are horrible and it is very difficult to find detailed weather forecasts. Please go back to the way it was! I'm ready to start looking for alternative sites for my weather information!
Weather Underground used to be great, and then, WHAM (must of happened about the time they were bought up and changed ownership?)... now they are a big waste of my time. After years of being one of my favorites, they have now inspired me to RANT about how HORRIBLE they are! Unfavorited! I would give them one sixteenth of a star instead of one star if that was an option. Has anyone found any site that is as good as this one used to be?
Terrible terrible, alot of info blank, just bad. Will be finding some other source. This is not what most peolpe want, they want to be able to click and go... I am sure we all want the old format back..
I was a big fan of the Weather Underground site, I used to use them everyday. These days it seems that it never works. The maps crash, the forecasts crash, the site has a difficult time loading most of the time. I'm moving on.
The only reason to use the site is that it shows precipitation as a quantity rather than a probability and a picture to show the volume. Otherwise it's awful. Right as you start to see the trend in the ten-day data it suddenly overlays the data with an ad that you have to mouse to and dismiss. Intensely annoying. It's also really slow because it lays out the page block by block and doesn't know where the information will be until all the ads before it are loaded. And neither do you. You just have to sit and wait. But the app is worse. It's funny, I used to have a good feeling about IBM and now I hate whatever remains of it. And I have no real idea what the company even does anymore. Or even what country is based in. Rumor has it it belongs to the Chinese now.
Good features disappeared on web site and app is a PIA to use.
Intellicast has a great interactive map with storm tracks, a surface map to locate fronts and a very good descriptive/graph forecast page.
I've had the 10-day view WU site bookmarked on three machines for ages, for several locations, the 10-day view, and in Celsius. I've found it better and more accurate than any of the alternatives. Recently, however, I've started to get the site opening up for locations I don't want, not the 10-day view, and in Fahrenheit. It was then OK for a few days, now it seems stuck back on what I don't want. I can't get the Fahrenheit/Celsius toggle to work. Very unhappy - and completely unable to find out what has happened.
I've really tried to like the "new and improved" Weather Underground, but it's nowhere near as good as the Classic site was. I really miss the classic site and just cannot understand the decision to put this one in its place.
Since IBM acquired Weather Underground everything from reliability and support have gone down the tubes. They did away with widgets, data and connection is non-reliable and overall appearance is poor at best. Obviously IBM is too big and has no interest in this and helping users. The IOS app is horrible, and doesn't display Web CAMs anymore. It's a real shame because I have been a big supporter for weather underground for years and have stopped using it. There are now SO many other great weather sites and IOS apps out there.
I used Intellicast for years. With a single click I could view all pertinent information in seconds.
Wunderground is a mockery, where no click will gain any information efficiently. Use if your time is worthless.
Answer: This was deliberate calculated sabotage for some reason
Answer: It won't come back. IBM bought The Weather Company to get at the data so they could package and sell that to their corporate customers using their "Watson" cloud services. Individuals mean nothing. That they've managed to so thoroughly destroy what was once the premiere weather site says a lot about the incompetence behind their core "Watson" products. You might want to tell IBM that.
Answer: They hired a bunch of idiots to manage and design their new site. This included removing features and gutting the radar.
Answer: Yes. We have many employees who come to work each day desperate to appear productive and relevant. We ask them to destroy functional lean websites with bloated nonsense. Meanwhile, our executives require more money so we like to devastate communicative websites with ad-infested infestations of pus-riddled idiocy. Thanks for asking!
Answer: Pointless giving feedback/complaints. I tried this and got an automated reply telling me how much better it was!
Answer: Your local Tv station meteorologist.
