I asked just how to make a verified badge like youtube has one, and it got closed! Also this is the first ever question that I'm putting there! Also it got downvoted for no reason! So people... don't waste your time on that website!
Rather than some people at Stackoverflow AI doesn't judge your questions or, worse, make you feel like a complete idiot for asking.
It just provides you with code that can either help you to find the right direction or solve your coding problem right away.
Great source for programming answer on just about any language, however, if you are just starting to learn programming I would not advise coming to this site to post any form of question. The community is not welcoming, granted there are few that are willing to help, but the vast majority take pride in berating the post owner.
I asked just a question about possible little task automation! Also this is the first ever question that I'm putting there! Also it got downvoted for no reason! Also my question was edited quickly (removed the word PLEASE - I wanted to be polite). I also received a comment from someone (extremely high reputation person). Comment content: link to a basic instructions - no any answer to my quiestion. A YES or NO would be just fine for me. So people... don't waste your time on that website!
This is the worst channel I have ever seen, even if it is allowed I can give - to the power of infinity.
The admin is very rude and removes any question which is asked by me. I know they might not know the answers and feel ashamed and removes the questions.
I asked a question about a topic. This was my first question. I made a post with my error message and all of my code. It got downvoted and closed because they didn't had enough information.
I wanted to submit another question but now I am blocked for a day to submit questions.
I won't recommend StackOverflow for beginning developers since they are too strict to me.
Stack overflow deletes my questions every time, saying I need to put more details when in fact I put pictures, and explain very clearly. They just don't want to say they don't have an answer. They have truly fell off.
As many have pointed out, you ask a question which isn't perfect, it immediately gets closed. You make the corrections they ask for, nobody ever bothers to open it. So you make another, better post, this time it's perfect! Nope, 'This is a duplicate', instantly closed. Now the old one is closed and being ignored and the new one is closed. If you ask, politely, what the problem is, you just get condescending replies explaining that your question wasn't good enough. You ask more questions, you're just ignored. Treated like dirt for asking a question basically.
It's a disgrace since it's hard to find help anywhere else because this place is where most people go. So us noobs are forever stuck. 24 hours later and I'm still searching for alternative forums and trying to fix the problem myself but not getting very far. This is a huge block to learning.
First of all you will get downvote because you are not using English, not even mention other questions that looks simple, it doesn't show the downvoter's name
Secondly all the questions, comments and answers in it are useless and worthless, all are $#*!ed students who consider themselves as some computer genius, if you have a job and you still hang around in this site you should get fired
I was on Stack Overflow for 15 years and had 12.5k reputation. Then some $#*!heads piled on me with disrespectful uninformed downvotes, I told them they were $#*!heads, and now I don't have an account. You have to be allowed to tell people when they're being $#*!heads. Otherwise a site can't be considered reliable.
Before writing a question on stackoverflow you should think twice if you really want to invest your time - stackoverflow-moderators LOVE to close your questions if they don't fit their strict rules 150%.
Are you guys a mind reader? Just kidding. Your reviews is just exactly what I'm thinking about SO. Many coffee and pasta answer from the software lib/documentation e. G Flask and Django get high scores, while the exact answer which save your headache sometime got less or even zero point.
Don't waste your time asking questions on this site. You will jump through hoops trying to post a question that will pass the moderators' silly rules and then get down-voted for something like "not enough research" when the down-voter has no way of knowing how many hours you have already put into your research. You can learn a little by searching on this site, but don't bother becoming a member.
These people don't know what they're doing and transparently reflects on them personally. They sloppily write up anything that they believe has minor relevance to their members questions. They focus on points when they claim the site is suppose to have accurate answers to all programming questions, pretending to be knowledgeable when more than half of their solutions don't actually work. I've tested them out myself. If you wanna be an amateur, this is the place to be, otherwise I'd seek actual professional help for your programming advice. Big waste of time and highly recommend you find assistance elsewhere. This site is doing more damage to the programming society than helping it.
There needs to be an alternative. So often high ranked people intentionally team up to destroy the accounts of new on-the-rise accounts out of pure jealousy. Use quora or this site if you must. But you have been warned
Ignore the 1 and 2 star reviews for this site. They are from people who don't want to bother searching for their answer, or doing any legwork of their own to find it. The rules SO enforces actually help make the site a better resource... which is exactly why SO is at or near the top for most coding related searches... a little understanding can go a long way.
I submitted a functional answer and a 'moderator' deleted it for no reason. I shared my experience with the support team and they came with "New answers are expected to contribute something substantial not already covered in previous answers, which yours does not. Therefore, it has been deleted."
This obviously didn't make any sense because the same thread has new answers that "don't contribute something substantial not already covered".
StackOverflow is not a welcoming community for new devs to contribute and grow in, the community is hostile and the moderators are essentially dictators who can do whatever they want knowing that the support team at StackOverflow will do nothing about it.
If you are looking to hire devs using StackOverflow, expect someone to bring in the same hostile culture into your company.
Possibly the worst website and customer service on the internet - joke of a company with no respect, no intelligence and no idea of how the law works. Ignorant, obnoxious geeks with too much time on their hands (such as 'animuson': http://stackoverflow.com/users/*******/animuson). They refuse to delete questions belonging to the poster despite it being illegal so they're being taken to court.
It has become a running joke to downvote all new questions. High-effort, well formatted, non-duplicate submissions with relevant code are taken down almost instantly. Nothing gets answered but sarcastic comments are guaranteed. The website no longer fulfils its intended purpose and frankly does not deserve to stay in business.
Some of them are unreasonably arrogant. Even when i solved my problem by myself and posted as the answer, someone downvoted it, because it was not in the format that he likes!
Answer: Not legit. The solutions people come up with are weak code, and further investigation makes me believe its seeded by hackers so weak code can be implemented.
StackOverflow has a rating of 1.9 stars from 77 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. StackOverflow ranks 133rd among Programming sites.
