I sent my guitar body to Patrick at Sims custom guitar shop. At first i was not sure how or what was the outcome going to be. To my full surprise the body came out better than I expected. Pat, is a professional. What costumers need to remember is to be patient. Patrick is a one man show and he tries to full fill every job within a time frame. He said 15 week but he needed a bit more time. He will communicate everything with you and keep you up to date. I am very please with his work and will be a repeated costumer. Thank you Patrick@

So my experience with Pat started with a poorly worded email which prompted him to call me and explain why what I had asked for couldn't be done in any way that would create a satisfactory product.
Once we got exactly what I wanted spec'd out, he went above and beyond in helping get my guitar out to him and getting it turned around in record time. He was in constant contact with me, kept me updated with pictures, and delivered EXACTLY what I wanted.
I cannot say enough good things about Pat and Sims Custom Shop!

I had a 1981 Gibson Les Paul Custom refinished and Sim's Custom Painting done an amazing job and was on time. Perfect finish and top quality detailing! The trans black burst finish came out flawless on my strat ultra body. I could not be more pleased. It's one of a kind now and better than anything you could buy off the shelf.

All good things come to those that wait, and sometimes that just makes it sweeter. Took just a little bit longer than planned but I got my old pal 1989 Ibanez 540SLTD body back from Patrick today restored to its original Desert (neon) Yellow and all I can say is WOW. I was worried no one would really do the proper DY color on this, especially after many years of my Sharpie scribbling and spray painting over it... ruining it basically. Sent it to Patrick and held my breath; he hunted me down online (after I'd switched all my contact info without him knowing) and contacted me last week. Unboxing it today was a revelation. The color is incredible, the PERFECT Desert Yellow, super saturated and clean, the lacquer shine is like glass, perfectly smooth, super reflective. Might be nostalgia talking but I swear it looks better than it did at Sam Ash in 1989. Today is a good day: thanks Patrick!

Pat Sims does the BEST paint jobs I have every seen! His is very transparent about how the process works and up front about all pricing, which is very reasonable. Great craftsmanship and VERY knowledgeable! Pat did the Jackson Soloist that is pictured here and will be doing a Jackson RR1 later this year.

This paint job is better than any bass I've bought brand new! Great pricing, great customer service, I will definitely be getting more instruments refinished through Sims in the future.

I wish I could give more stars here! I built a guitar over 30years ago, it is very unique in that it is acoustic and electric, and my own original shape too. I have toured with the guitar, I've recorded so many songs with it and its been really special to me. My only issue was that I was never happy with the finish that I put on it. It was a DIY poly spayed finish, automotive clear coat. This year I decided to take the guitar apart and make some upgrades and in doing so realized, hey this is the perfect opportunity to get the guitar re-finished as well. So, I started some internet searching and found a few guys. I was really impressed when I saw all the different type of work that SIMS Custom Guitars has done. The fact that they also have their own guitar line peaked my interest as well, and they are superb guitars! I decided to call SIMS, the conversation with Pat was direct, detailed & honest, we talked about expectations on both sides and he seemed like the kind of guy I like to do business with. Well, I just received my guitar back today and I could not be more happy! It looks better than the high end guitar finishes I've seen out there. The luster, gloss, depth, how the stain plays with the grain, its just amazing. I've already texted Pat a few times letting him know how over the top I feel!. I've never been more excited about re-assembling a guitar as I am today. Thanks again for everyone at SIMS! You make a musician proud to play!

Pat is absolutely amazing at what he does and you definitely get what you pay for. My Ibanez RG8 had a really nasty, ugly looking deep crack in the paint running all through the body. I wanted to see where I could take or send it to get refinished but many of the prices that people charge can get to be insanely expensive for a refinish. After searching for awhile I came across the Sims Custom Shop site and was impressed with what the site had for pics of previous refinishes. I got ahold of Pat and discussed sending in the body for a refinish in the original metallic pewter grey finsh and the total ended up being very reasonable for the work. I was a bit worried it would take longer than his given estimated finsh time for the guitar due to me having to move a week after the estimation, but it ended up being done right on schedule and the guitar looks brand new! I couldn't suggest Pat and his work enough and I'll definitely be doing business with him again!
