I placed my order on may 12th, I was supposed to wait 10-15 days. LOL Since it took longer then what it was supposed to. I went to chat with customer service, just for them to tell oh you shroud ask your local carrier HAHAHAHA, ALL the crap to find a letter from GERMANY stating that in order for me to get my order I had to pay 72.87 pound of customs duty, which I was not even aware of. It is the 1st and the last TIME.

Manager is very nasty and rude
May 8, 2023

I shop the Miami beach, Florida, location lolat this store almost every week when sale items are put out. This is my second time having issues with a manager there. The first issue was refusing a coupon that was given to me to get $10;off $40!and up spent. I have used this coupon several times no issues this day manager choose to make his own rule that it can't be used on my items because it's on sale when clearly nothing on the coupon had any restrictions once your items were over $40 before taxes. Now today a employee took my stuff while shopping to put on the hold rack, when I was ready to check out, my stuff was not together as it should and one dress was given to me in a small when it was supposed to be a medium, the medium is clearly on the rack and the manager refused to give me back the size I gave to hold telling me that medium was there before he open. Remember they hold for only a full day from open to close now explain how you had a item and knew the exact size before your store was open? Ask him to check the camera because the item was mix up or switch and that's when he got angry. No I won't check my camera the dress is just $5 so are you taking it. No not a small, yes if you gave me my Medium. Are you the manager to solve the problem or are you the manager who wants to tell a costumer that the item is on sale so buy it with the wrong size. Why are you a manager if your gonna try downgrade a price so basically if the stuff was expensive you would solve the issues. Isn't sale items to be brought? Do something about your managers they are very rude and nasty.

I would give 0 stars if I could. Literally spent a few hours putting items in my cart, checked out through the payment service THEY PROVIDED on their website, payment went through, money was taken out of my account, got an order confirmation, and then the next morning I received an email saying Akira reversed my transaction. Called my bank and it was not a bank issue since Wells Fargo let it go through. Then called Akira customer service and spoke to a girl named Crystal who was absolutely no help. She suggested that I go back on the website and repick all the items and check out again and she was adamant that she had no manager for me to speak to when asked if I could talk to a manager. So pretty much I have to spend another couple hours even though I have a meeting I have to run to, waste my time because their customer service sucks, and their payment processor sucks, and wait for my money that they did take out to go back in my account for another 7 business days, yet they want me to process it again. Mind you this was a large order totaling $821.21 and the items may no longer be available. Very disappointed with Akira and their customer service. It was my first time ordering and I wish I had red these reviews on here before purchasing with them. They seemed good based off YouTube reviews which you bet I will do one and mention this issue once I have to go through this mess of ordering again without even receiving my $821.21 back yet.

Smelly jacket
February 1, 2023

I bought a leather jacket from AKIRA during Christmas time 12/19/2022 that had a foul fishy odor. I tried to talk to a customer service and she told me that's how all there clothes come. I refuse to believe that, after my continued patronage to Akira, that this is the level of satisfaction that I have to receive in my dismay, and as much as I was disappointed in the garment that I received, I was equally as much disappointed at the level of service that I received disappointing at the highest level. It is my sincere hope that the matter regarding my purchase will be resolved to my satisfaction. If the garment in question is no longer available I would appreciate a comparable replacement or a full refund as this is what I am entitled to as a loyal, Akira customer, and it is a reasonable expectation to assume that any business will appreciate and values. Their consumer will accommodate me in such a manner. In addition to this matter, I would sincerely appreciate a call from upper level management so that I may discuss it further detail the experience that has positioned me to reconsider, whether or not, I will continue to do business with Akira.

Certain staff members are very unprofessional and seem to be incompetent. One representative by the name of Taelor the other by the name of Alana. Shopakira printed the wrong address for usps so my package has basically been back in fourth from Akira to usps for over a month. I explained this to Alana (the chat representative) she stated that I should call usps. I explained to her that the mistake was made by shop akira not usps and the least that could be done is my package being expedited. Alana said that she is a supervisor and could not expedite anything and repeated that I should call usps. I asked to speak to another representative. She wrote "she's going to say the same thing", then she transferred me to Taelor. Taelor sent me a copy of the address I provided which was correct, then a screenshot of the copy Akira sent to usps which was clearly different from the address I provided (city, zip code and street). She proceeded to say I gave the wrong address. I informed her to look at the screen shot she sent me and please expedite my package for this huge inconvenience. She stated they must have put the wrong address and that she would expedite the package. Fast forward she put a completely different address from both screenshots she sent and I had to contact customer service for the 3rd time because Taelor and Alana chose to to be unprofessional and incompetent.

Wish I could give them 0
February 19, 2015

This company will go to the extreme to not refund you your money. On 01/21/2015 I called the company to let them know that my dress was damaged because it had red dye around the collar which I'm severally allergic too and I couldn't even try it on completely. I sent the dress back on 01/22/2015 my receipt stated the dress should arrive on 01/27/2015. I called the company on 02/02/2015 to make sure they knew to read the notes due to the dress being damaged. I was advised that they will inspect the item and process the return soon. On 02/19/2015 almost 3 weeks later, I received a call stating my returned couldn't be processed due to a rip in the collar. I advised the company that the dress was not ripped in my possession and even if it ripped when I opened it or tried it on I would have called them right away just as I did regarding the dye to return the item because that means it was damaged especially if I didn't even get a opportunity to wear it yet. I pleaded to promised over and over that the dress was not ripped and if it was It would have been a valid reason for a return and I would have notified them just as I did the other concern. I feel that an employee ripped it accidentally and is now trying to place blame, it's been several weeks and I would assume that a ripped as big as the one in the picture sent to me by the company would have been immediately noticeable. I asked for a picture and it shows a rip in the collar, which is not normal for dresses to rip. I advised them that even if the dresses ripped in my possession they are still at fault because that means the dress was poorly stitched and even if I tried it on and it was too small a dress shouldn't rip in the collar if it was made and sewn properly. However that was not the case because I did not send the dress back with a rip in it. They are trying to prevent from returning my funds due to their fault. If the dress ripped without me even wearing it they are still at fault.

I really appreciate its clothing lines and helpful people in the stores. As I enjoy gender-fluid clothing, they are respectful of that. Some of the help (aside from those that were self-absorbed) were really helpful, esp at the Skokie store.

But the on-line experience is extremely frustrating and poor. What I list here shows a pattern of corporate indifference and, likely, greed. Also, some experiences suggest Corporate uses negative cultural stereotypes (see Part 2, below).

Part 1: Problems with their website:

1. Very poor phone service. Today, after being on hold for a while, I choose the call-back feature. Hours later, they never called back. Also, you cannot call an individual store. Typically, no employee picks up and you're shunted to a worthless central phone.

2. They don't listen. Over a year ago, I made a careful and time-consuming list of website problems (I am a former programmer) that I made to HELP THEN. But they never even responded. After more than a year, same crappy website.

3. Software lost my accrued loyalty dollars and my list of previous purchases (I am a very good cu$tomer). Then, they lowered the value of the loyalty dollars and applied that retrospectively to dollars I earned prior to the devaluation.

4. Non-functional "wish list". I had over 50 items in my wish list, but faulty software programming only shows about 8 of them. Same problem on a desktop, multiple browsers, and my phone. And after clearing caches. I've complained multiple times, no help.

5. Reduced customer service. One used to be able to have purchased items held at a store for pick-up. They got rid of that. And as noted, you can't phone individual stores (essential for seeing if they have an item of interest).

6. Website lacks most standard features seen on other sites:
A. No ability to apply multiple filters, just "clothing type" and "size". No color choices, no specifics of clothing styles or cuts, etc.
B. No ability to sort by price or range of prices. Just a lame-o filter of products of at some fixed prices and all items below that choose price.

Part 2: A corporate culture of insulting clients. It must be corporate requirement to play a single play-list of songs, several vulgar (one used F*** about every other word). I go to multiple stores: The same awful playlist. This is an INSULT to patrons, with an assumption that this is attractive. That is awful stereotyping and should be stopped years ago. Several store employees have also mentioned that it's awful.
Along that same line, why selling clothing with vulgarity and anti-social messages?

Akira, before you get upset with this review, I repeatedly tried to keep my concerns limited to your reps.
