Seat Geek drops the ball on K state football tickets

Late September looking for college football tickets (K state vs. Iowa state), the game was scheduled for November 25th. Only nose bleed seats were available on the K state athletics ticket office website, and better seats were advertised by K state on the seat geek website. After looking through the tickets available, quickly decided I needed to create a seat geek account to get the best tickets at a decent price. Was able to quickly create the account...that's why they get 1 star. I purchased the tickets and seat geek quickly took my money, but was told it would take a couple days for the seller to confirm they wanted to transfer the tickets to me. After a couple weeks the status had not changed, confirming I had the tickets in my account. At this time I started logging onto Seat geek via my web browser instead of via the Seat geek app on my phone. This would be the start of my first online chat experience. I wanted to talk to someone on the phone to receive customer service...not available...have to use the online chat. I even asked on the online chat...for an over the phone in person conversation to resolve my problem. DENIED...have to use the ridiculously worthless online chat customer service. But I did learn via that first online chat, that in fact the seller had confirmed the transfer of tickets to me. It showed that on the web browser, but not on the app. I pointed that out, Seat Geek didn't seem to care about that inconsistency of information. The next hurdle was, yes the seller had accepted the transfer, and I had a confirmation number.but still NO tickets! On my 2nd online chat experience I was assured that the tickets aren't actually transferred because game time was still TBD. So it was a waiting game...game time on college football doesn't usually occur until 1 week prior to the date of the game. Here was my frustration I had spent roughly $400 on tickets and was making plans to travel roughly 7 hours away from my home to where the game was happening( travel plans, hotel reservations), trying to be excited about taking my family to our first ever college football game but at the same time...the stress of we still don't have tickets! Again shared this frustration with Seat Geek via online chat...didn't care or do anything to give me peace of mind except empty excuses! Exactly 24 hours after the announcement of the game time, I still did not have tickets, reached out to Seat Geek via email that turned back into online chat crap conversation with them...dang it! The best way I can explain their online chat customer service is dealing with a car salesman at a car dealership...they can make the most simple tasks take hours of back and forth and talking to the manager and "escalating the issue to a different team" as they would call it. Anyway on my 3rd online chat experience, after a couple hours of back and forth and escalating the problem I was told the tickets "should" be in my K state athletics ticket office account. I promptly responded and said I DON"T have an account with K state athletics nor have I ever been prompted by Seat GEEK to make one! Their response, well sign in and start one and your tickets should be there...I quickly made a K state athletics account online and downloaded the app on my phone again for dual points of contact with K state. But of course as you guessed it! Still no tickets in any of these accounts I had created! At this point it is day before thanksgiving and ticket office is CLOSED! But every communication I had with seat geek was copied on my part and emailed to K-state athletics ticket office begging for help. I had an online chat with Seat geek Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday was given excuses, wasted my time and finally told me it wasn't their problem, I had to take it up with K state ticket office! They didn't open up until 3 hours prior to game time! Obviously we made the drive on Friday the day before the game to Kansas state and stayed in a hotel, with the pit in our stomachs that somehow we would get turned away and not be able to enjoy the game as we had been hoping to since I gave the tickets to my high school age son for his birthday back in September, who is a huge fan of both teams and wanted to seem them face each other. On Saturday the day of the game roughly 5-1/2 hours before game time K state athletics reached out to me via email and sent the tickets to me, to down load into my google wallet! WTF! Tickets never showed up on my seat geek app, never showed up in my K state Ticket office account...they were simply emailed to me to be downloaded to my google wallet. I'm sure somewhere in this K state athletics may be at fault to some degree. But I did business and my money went to Seat Geek, and I feel like they were completely clueless about how the process was supposed to work...and didn't feel any urgency to help me in my dilemma! I hope I never have to deal with them as long as I live!

Was on there website to order concert tickets. Attempted to purchase tickets, got a message saying the tickets we wanted were already sold basically and order couldn't be confirmed. So I purchased an another set. Go to get my tickets from email and there is a confirmation for the tickets that said they were no longer available as well as the second set. Attempt to reach customer service. Well surprise there is no phone number available. Had to go through multiple prompts to even get to online chat option. Speak to a representative that basically tells me she can't help me. I will be contacted back at some point with an email that will give me a resolution. I asked a time frame. Nothing could be given. So I said I wanted to speak to a manager or some one who can actual help resolve this. Surprise again, no manger is available. I said I want someone who can actually assist me. She finally agree to have a manager phone me. Now keep in mind I am purchasing tickets to go into a concert right then. I say can the manager contact me now. I am going to a concert. She says no, big shock. I say well I am going to a concert now. She say not to worry. If she doesn't get me she will leave a voicemail and provide a number. So she doesn't in fact leave voicemail with a number. I contact it back. Immediately I ask if she is a manager and she tells me no. I tell her my situation and ask if she is able to help me. She gives me same response as the person via chat help. Basically no idea about time frames or how they will come to resolutions or decision. Just continually repeated same information over multiple times no matter what I asked. I got back on the chat via website and said I need to be escalated and have a manager call me. This person been the least nasty of all the representative I have spoke to, assures me a manager will call me back and apologize. I think okay, finally maybe some help. She said someone will contact me soon. I said how long is soon. When can I expect this call. She says very soon. I said today, correct. She reassures me yes. So 12 hours go by and no call. No contact. No help. I emailed them and no response as well. I then write on fb messenger to the company and they respond. This person responds and says I will contact my internal team and have someone contact you immediately. So I finally get a call back at 11pm my time after I called at 10:30am but only after multiple attempts and complaints. Finally an actual manager calls me. They listen and say no worries. They are gonna escalate and find a solution. So once again they tell me they will "research" transaction and email or "possibly" call me back. I said okay, when will I hear from you cause they can't help them while I'm on the phone. After asking the question will can expect my response. They finally day by the morning whatever time that means. I agree cause clearly you can get any real answers out of anyone there. So about a half hour later this said manager calls me back and say good news. We can give you a promo code for that order. I said well I don't want a promo code. I want a refund. Your company told me those tickets were not available and that's why I purchased a second set. Then you billed me for both sets. He basically says all he can offer me is a promo code. I said well I will contact a lawyer then. He said well I will not give you the promo code if you are getting a lawyer. I said go ahead and give me the promo code but either way I am calling a lawyer. Here is where it gets really good. He says well if your contacting a lawyer I am not gonna give you the promo code. I said well I am not happy with that. I want a refund. You do what you gotta do with your promo code. Take that promo code and stick it where the sun don't shine! So the stole from me basically with no regard or remorse. No care. No help and hangs up after being totally rude.What?! What kind of organization is this? Who is responsible for it? Who trains these people? What a disgusting display of customer service. What a utterly nasty company. I am appalled and shocked. So let me also tell you the kicker as I am sitting outside of the concert I try to pull up the tickets to get in concert. I try to pull them up. I keep getting errors. Try multiple times to use the first set and I get several errors. So the set that said unavailable... That I then got charged for even though it said they were not confirmed. Never allowed me to open it. So after 3 attempts I final got the second to open and use. So I got charged for a set of tickets it said unavailable and couldn't confirm but I could even access them at all! What a scam. RUN FROM THIS COMPANY! WHAT AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. THEY HAVE NO INTEGRITY AS A COMPANY IR AS INDIVIDUALS. ITS AN ABSOLUTE SHAM. LOOK AT THEIR REVIEWS. READ BETWEEN THE LINES ON ALL THE COMMENTS VERSUS WHAT SHOWS UP. THIS COMPANY CHEATS PEOPLE AND LIES!

NEVER RECEIVED TICKETS

I purchased tickets TWICE, no tickets either time and took my money- WILL NEVER USE AGAIN. Beware!

Tip for consumers:

Don’t use it. A week ago I checked to make sure everything was good with my purchase and they told me yes and I would get my tickets in my email 24 hours prior to the event. Here we are the day of the event and they said that due to high volume sales this happens sometimes.. bull!

AWFUL experience with Seatgeek (Sept-Oct 2022)!

My experience with Seatgeek was AWFUL. In mid-September 2022, when I was in the process of purchasing tickets to a concert out-of-state, I was NOT informed in any way during the online booking that I was purchasing tickets from an unknown person who then would send me those tickets from an unknown email address at an unknown time and so then I would have to keep checking my Spam to see if I could find the tickets. I did this over a 3-week period, expressing my ongoing frustration and concern via customer service emails that Seatgeek and I had gotten scammed.

When I purchased the tickets online, I was immediately notified that the tickets were "confirmed." So I went ahead and purchased nonrefundable airline tickets, car rental, and hotel -- but it took up until 2 days before the actual concert date to get tickets from Seatgeek. What was particularly aggravating was that the emails from Seatgeek customer service kept assuring me that the tickets were in my Seatgeek account - which they weren't - and that tickets had been sent via email so keep checking Spam folder -- but the tickets weren't there either. Over and over again over that 3+ week period, I could only assume that Seatgeek (and I) had gotten scammed and/or that Seatgeek was lying and/or that Seatgeek didn't have a clue as to what was going on and WHY I didn't have my tickets.

When within 10 days of the concert date, I asked that tickets of the same or greater value be made immediately available to me, but Seatgeek refused to do that. So one week before the date for the out-of-state concert (to which we had paid an additional $2000+ for nonrefundable travel costs) WHEN THE CONCERT WAS ALMOST ENTIRELY SOLD OUT, I bought a 2nd set of tickets from the concert venue -- because THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY I COULD BE ASSURED OF HAVING TICKETS TO ATTEND THE CONCERT. As I said above, tickets from Seatgeek did miraculously show up 2 days before the concert -- but by then it was too late. I couldn't afford to take the risk about whether I would get my tickets from Seatgeek - after receiving so much unreliable information from Seatgeek (tickets were in my account; tickets were in email from unknown person) - so had to purchase new tickets from a More. Reliable. Source. Yes, I was able to figure out how to put the original Seatgeek tickets up for sale, but did not make back what I initially paid for those tickets so am still out ~$70. And nothing can help un-do the anxiety and frustration leading up to the concert about whether I would actually be able to attend the concert after paying so much extra for travel costs.

Seatgeek does NOT win any support from me because the process of buying tickets in the first place was NOT transparent, i. E. did not inform the buyer that tickets would NOT be released immediately from Seatgeek but rather from some other unknown individual using an unknown email address over an unknown period of time. Seatgeek's policy of refunding tickets if tickets are not sent in time is NOT a useful business plan. There must be MANY people who purchase tickets for out-of-state events who then are also paying out additional sums for travel, hotel, etc. If Seatgeek gets scammed, a refund for tickets does NOTHING to cover the additional travel expenses the buyer paid to attend the event that Seatgeek misrepresented at the time of ticket purchase.

Seatgeek has also NOT earned my support because of how difficult it was to get help. Typically, 3-4 days lapsed before receiving email responses from Seatgeek, only adding to the anxiety about being scammed and not having tickets for the concert. Seatgeek does not have an 800 number made available to talk to someone for help by phone. The FAQs provided online do not cover the kind of problem - surely not all that rare - that I encountered. Finally, after needing to purchase tickets from the actual concert venue, I worked with my credit card company to have them NOT pay for the Seatgeek "confirmed" tickets which I had not received. Seatgeek's response was that I had already received those tickets - NOT TRUE at the time I sought my credit card company's help. Seatgeek's business model (and its lack of transparency) STINK, customer service is difficult-to-nearly impossible to acquire, and misinformation supplied to the buyer make it the WORST ONLINE BUSINESS I have ever encountered.

DO NOT BELEIVE THEIR GUARANTEE - "If we do not provide you tickets exactly as ordered we will replace tickets with comparable of better, or offer you a refund." They sent me incorrect tickets, I didn't want refund, as the event was in a few days and purchasing replacement tickets would cost me more. I wanted seat geek replacement of comparable tickets, as stated in their PHONEY GURANTEE. Called, they told me because they were backed up and event was in a few days, if I purchased nearly identical replacement tickets (which I did) they would send me voucher to cover the additional cost of said replacements after they received the transferred back incorrect tickets. It took them 4 days to accept the incorrect digitally transferred tickets I sent back, they waited till the day of event. AND then they didn't want to give me refund for the incorrect tickets and they didn't want to give me the promised adjustment cost of $143 for replacements. I called my credit card company and disputed. Was able to get refund on incorrect tickets because I transferred back before event date. But I couldn't dispute/get back the additional cost of replacement tickets. Was told by credit card company that any company can make any claim of guarantee - it means nothing in terms of legal transaction. Unless you have a specific document/receipt stating refund or adjustment due in the amount of... there's nothing cc card company can do. Seat geek ARE CHEATS. I think they purposely did not sent me the correct tickets I originally purchased because price with promo code was extremely good. They sold them for more $ to someone else and had me a in position where I had to pay more for replacements. If they hadn't lied about planning to give me voucher for replacement tickets, I DEFINITELY would have purchased them elsewhere. They know their guarantee means nothing and tricked me into another sale. NEVER BUY FROM SEAT GEEK!

Tip for consumers:

If they send you wrong tickets, which they did, their BUYER GUARANTEE IS UNTRUE - MEANS NOTHING they will not replace with comparable or better tickets - instead they will soak you to buy replacement tickets at higher cost promising to send you voucher to cover additional cost - and after the fact REFUSE to make good on the promise.
