I was shopping at Rural King, Owensboro, Ky, I had bought a case of Rotella oil in gallon jugs as Trey were out of the 5 gl buckets. They sell these jugs by the case, they are labeled for the case price in their rack. When checking out, the box didn't ring up so the cashier took one out of the case. She asked me if there was only 2 in the case and I corrected her as there are 3. So she rang up 3. The price of 3 individually was 9.00 higher than the case price. When I pointed this out to her, the cashier informed me that's the only way she had to ring them up so that was my price. I told he that it's not my problem it don't ring up right but they can't just overcharge people because it rings up wrong. So I didn't buy it and asked for the manager. I explained to the manager the difference in price, the manager said the same, they can only ring these up individually even though they sell the, but the case at 9.00 cheaper. I told the manager that just because it doesn't ring up, that's something they need to fix because they will over charge anyone that they ring up if they scan each jug.I thought the manager would contact someone to get the price corrected, but they didn't. They offered to contact the oil guy and correct my price but I didn't want it just for me. When I realized they was not going to correct the pricing issue for unsuspecting customers, I was done and had already made up my mind, I wasn't buying the oil but I still wanted the pricing error fixed. When they refused to fix the price and I told them I wasn't buying the oil, she smirky told me to have a good day and I left. I shop at this location a lot, as I do the ones in Pikeville Ky, Winchester Ky and Ashland Ky. But I'm done. I am pretty sure there is an obligation for pricing issues to be corrected and that did not happen. Had they told me they'd pull the case pricing from the display, I would have been satisfied. At least then you know what price the item would ring up.
The manager kept telling the cashier that they did the right thing by scanning the individual jug. I had a problem with that due to the price difference in the case vs. individual pricing. She thought I was being argumentative but I wasn't at all as it's wrong if there is a difference in price.
I bought everything I went there for but did not purchase the one item I needed due to being overcharged.
Rural King wants blood, sweat and tears for peanuts in salary.
I've had a.36 cent (YES!,.36 CENT!) raise in the last 2 years! The owners and the other corporate big-shots fly around in helicopters, while I can hardly afford to put gas in my truck. There is no such thing as a set-schedule at Rural King, so it is impossible to have a second job to try and earn enough money to live-on. They expect your body and soul 7 days a week, even though you will likely only be scheduled 25 hours at minimum wage.
Rural King has a "no-fault" absence policy. This means THERE IS NO GOOD excuse for being late or missing work! A doctors note will not even excuse you for being sick (and there are NO sick days either!). Each missed day is a point, each time you're late (even ONE MINUTE) it's 1/2 a point, 7 points and you are terminated, no discussion. My store has the worst culture of backstabbing and two-facing. Certain employees gain favor with upper management by tattling on other associates to the boss, who of course, encourages this behavior.
The customers are a horrid mix of ignorant rednecks, ghetto trash and doddering retirees. They stumble through the store and complain about every penny spent, trying to chisel the employees down on prices (like they think it's a flea market) but yet, they expect Tiffany level service and butt-kissing so they can feel like "king-for-the-day"! They complain about ANYTHING in hopes of getting a free gift card from management and some will even LIE and totally make-up stories that they can submit over the internet- and management almost always sides with the customers and employees have no defense and get written-up or threatened with firing.
The stores are dirty, cold in the winter, hot and nasty in the summer and you have to listen to country music- even though your I.Q. May be above 25. You are only allowed a 10 minute break- 5 minutes to use the restroom 2 minutes to walk up front to buy a soda, 3 minutes to stand in line to pay for it and your break is over, you never even got to sit down during your "break". The turnover rate is unbelievable, like 60-70% within 6 months and the owners and managers ABSOLUTELY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE EMPLOYEES! We are just replaceable/disposable parts in their money-making machine.
If you have an enemy, encourage them to get a job a Rural King.
I recently left Rural King working as a Pet Specialist at first the atmosphere was Great, Manager of the Store in Heath Ohio # 80 was Super Nice, very fair, respectful, and kind. But the Managers under Him were Horrible! They were more interested in making sure they get to the Bakery by 12 noon which is the peak hour of work! Coincidence i think not! They would wait for the Manager of our Store to leave and it was a free for all, pushing us workers to lift heavy pallets of dog food 50 lbs 80 total, run back and forth trying to help customers, pushing the Visa card on top of us as we were not hired but to stay in our department, after 90 days they would push Cobra Insurance on us, told me i had to pay 300.00 a pay which i said i cant afford. I was not trained one time by my manager Amy that ran 2 areas and not once showed me how to do a plan a gram. I was harassed and belittled by her when i was working alone in the isles and screamed at " dont you walk away from me " words like " shut up, Sit Down and I own you was coming from her mouth, she would then triangulate other managers to tell me to calm down and not get upset. I was working on a task the Manager told me to do, and because i would not stop and drop everything while on a ladder and fix 326 price changes that accumulated by her Not showing me how to set a planagram. I was also shoved to work in areas i was not hired to work like livestock, made to lift very heavy bags of dog food 50 lbs, horse feed, and pull pallets by meyself a 57 year old woman that is not incredible hulk! I then injured my right wrist, messed up my back and now have numbness and loss of feeling in right hand from her sitting on a fork lift and demanding everyone do her work! Most managers in that store are Obese and have serious health issues, while we workers are tired, overworked and underpaid. This is work place hostility and as a result many people have walked out, been fired or had to transfer to other departments. Amy has also verbally threatened me and laughed at me while forcing me to go into the back room alone with her. I said absolutely not as i asked for the head manager to be present and the reply was " hes out to lunch " this abuse has been going on for 90 days i have talked to people in this store that state they are treating Rural King like a Sweat shop, and some have been so abused that are not managers that they are on anxiety medication or worse having strokes or having heart problems from the stress. When i left Don one of their Gastappo managers told me " you will not raise your voice in here " and followed me out like a german soldier out to the lot and still demanded i leave watching as i was on Target Parking Lot not Rural King. I came into this store with little or no money, they offered me 17.25 and i thought they cared but their leader Amy the Bully said She owned me? And i will do what and when she says. I had to ask for breaks, and sometimes did not get a lunch after 3 and got in trouble after they ran me ragged. The whole store is a safety hazzard, roof was patched not replaced, and now they want to remodel the bathrooms first? Where are their priorities! They abuse the elderly, the weak and the sick they penalize, while they the Black coats go on vacations and take long days off and get 50 hours a week! While they reduced our wages, this is abuse you want to know why your calls dont get answered now you know! The Managers sit on their buts in the back and play god, walk around like they have a corn cob up their butts and whine about helping us red coats! No thank you the 17.25 is Not worth it. A video is posted on U tube under Under the Battle Between Good and Evil in America. Others will be uploaded in the future, i suggest you in Ohio go to the Tractor store on 21 street instead... i also noticed they dont hire people of color in that store. So No its not Diverse
Do not shop at Rural King !
they are a bunch of gaslighting bullies and psychopaths' the manager amy was the ring leader using and abusing others as she would not do her job and would not train anyone but received a huge salary while we worked long hours and ran around like chickens loose ! it was insane the gaslighing and abuse
I bought a RK-21 May 2021. While doing the 50 hour maintenance from start to finish per manual i noticed the loader bucket was sloppy. I called the store the woman in charge got the mechanic on the line and we agreed they would order new pins under warranty and i would pick up and put them on. So far so good. Weeks turned in to months. My sister and her daughter were going to the store for chicken feed so she called and asked if i needed anything, i said check on parts. Long story short of this is my sister and the tractor woman exchanged words my sister was treated like a criminal until she left the store. Sister complained to corporate about tractor lady and parts, a few days later parts were in. Corporate can make things happen. I took a pin from my tractor along with me and went after parts. Got there, wrong pins! They took a picture of my pin to make sure they order the right ones, three and a half months and we are starting over. Many weeks have came and went again, stopped at store 7/25 and asked for a manager to see why it was taking so long to get parts. While explaining to him what all has happened the tractor woman butted in and said i abused my tractor I told her she has me confused with someone else l never abused my tractor or anything else i own. She said we have a picture. I said i know. I asked for an explanation of how you can look at a picture and tell me i abused my tractor. I got no explanation. Manager said he would make a call Monday to see what he could find out. I told him they should extend my warranty. Nothing else was said no mention of what i'm about to say. Got a call 7/26, parts in. Went to pick up and they said l had to pay for them, manager was no help. 3 morals to this 1, tell your sister to not get the tractor lady in trouble until after you get the right parts, 2 don't underestimate a person that has worked in upper management positions most of there career there are things i can do if i choose to, 3 there is nothing wrong with RK tractors, i love mine, better than the green and orange if you ask me, but do keep service in mind don't buy from Morgantown with the people or person they have in charge, go to Uniontown. In case your wondering, no i didn't pay for the parts. I told them i wouldn't give them one dollar. There is a lot more i could say about my customer experience but i'll wait till the next chapter.
