I wrote Reverb Nation to find out why I was paying for opportunities to submit my music to record labels and it was being rejected, but Reverb Nation's own Play Stats showed the music had NEVER BEEN PLAYED! Reverb Nation claims that the Record Labels and people looking for artists actually hear your submission. This is NOT the case!
I just received this reply from one of Reverb Nation's employees in the community section:
EMPLOYEE
Zack (Official Rep) 10 minutes ago
Sorry for any frustration here. We are sorry that you have yet to be chosen for an opportunity. We at ReverbNation do not choose the winners of opportunities, we are just the submission platform for the opportunities. Our live team vets each opportunity. We do not guarantee that every artist will be chosen as a winner, but we do guarantee that a winner is always chosen from ReverbNation.
According to Zack's official reply, the Reverb Nation team "vets" opportunities before sending songs to the labels/groups looking for artists, which means that their team is eliminating us from ever being heard by the labels in the first place. This is the same scam that TAXI does. People waste money, and no one ever hears their music unless they have a friend in the TAXI A&R department. I joined Reverb Nation so that I would have a place to get HEARD by the labels and people looking for artists, not to get omitted by reverb nation employees who may not have a clue as to our genre of music! This is a ridiculous scam and I have wasted a lot of money for absolutely NOTHING!
I think I need some legal advice about now.
All they want is your money. After dropping my monthly subscription, my ratings dropped by the thousands
Let me cut to the chase. I am a retired former Major-Recording Music Industry Producer/Engineer who recently contacted ( what a joke) 'Reverbnation' by PHONE where they ( another 'joke') have a message that they'll 'return the call' ( a LIE AND a 'joke') Our Studio ( a PRO 'Sound for Film' company) who's staff has EXTENSIVE backgrounds for many decades- working with, performing with, opening for and recording MANY legendary Artists & groups- had a 'casual acquaintance' go rogue and put a BUNCH of songs ( in the idea stage and OWNED by the Studio) up on many sites. INCLUDING 'Reverbnation'. WITHOUT PERMISSION. Then? The idiot apparently abandoned the sites and we need to take them down or at the least TAKE IT OVER but it is obvious that the 'dipwads' who either run or work for RN ( or both) CAN'T be bothered to act like what they CLAIM to be.'PROFESSIONALS'. Are you people at RN serious? We deal with Legendary and Grammy Award winning Producers/Engineers, our AVERAGE age is 60 + and let me tell you... REVERBNATION as ( anyone) can see/read... is obviously NOT very well thought of- and CERTAINLY are not the 'PRO'S... they purport to be!
I'm sorry to give one star but this isn't just bashing.
I joined reverbnation many years ago.
The site has gotten better. What a mess it used to be, with endless nested settings, impossible to find things, and the SPAM. Oh please, dozens of lists to unsubscribe to and all just trying to get some money out of you.
Their new scam is a pop-up that you have a "credit" to use for a free promotion.
Giving it a try, they signed me up to two subscriptions, to one there was an unsubscribe link, to the other, none. So I found out later from my bank a month later.
Dumbfounded I contested the charge.
Because I contested the charge, reverbnation disabled my account. Not just the pro features (they wanted to start billing me 19.95 a month) but the entire page, including free features.
The bank quickly refunded the money, perhaps based on strong precedent with reverbnation billing. Reverbnation employees never acknowledged my suggestion that they process the refund rather than have my card company do it.
They told me "once we receive notice of a charge-back we must suspend the profile from which the charges came."
In other words, if I don't pay for this pro plan (which I never wanted) then I couldn't keep the free account.
reverbnation won't reactivate the account, because, get this; "contesting a charge by reverbnation is "is a violation of our Terms & Conditions"'.
quote: "Due to this violation of our Terms & Conditions, this account will remain suspended. If you wish to have this profile removed, please verify the Artist name and location of the profile and I can have it removed."
Reverbnation treats users like this, when everything they do is more to promote themselves than the user. Who needs this?
I'm a new artist with only one song released and RN has helped me get offers, opportunities, and song plays. I've never had a problem with them.
I LOVE IT! I've used their website for 3 years now and I am very impressed by it. I got many contacts with the music industry
Reverbnation is a sneaky f**k. Signed up for a month of free membership. All crap news you receive to your email, BUT EXPIRATION OF FREE MEMBERSHIP they don't send to make sure they charge you.
I have been the #1 alternative rock artist in Los Angeles for over 6 months on Reverbnation. Whats that mean? Nothing.
Greetings: To whom it May Concern:
A company without loyalty to its longtime customers and neglects service issues, make it difficult for reciprocal communication cannot survive. I recently paid for 2 campaign promotion for a single track of a scheduled CD release.> the track was to be the cornerstone of my promotional efforts. I paid $49.00 for one promo. And $70.00 for the second one, I quickly discovered the track according to Reverbnation was corrupt only after I discovered the track could not be played on my profile page or the promotion campaign which is ludicrous. After several e-mails, back and forth explaining and re-explaining the track didnt work. They got back to me to inform me the seven-day promo had ended and theyd fix the corrupt track. They posted an announcement that my song Wastin' My Time had charted at #9 in the Bronx NYC's 2nd largest borough. How could this be? I wondered, the track I was promoting could not be heard the entire duration of the promo campaign. I cancelled the 2nd campaign and I will cancel my Reverbnation account if they do not fix and show "Good Faith in their dealings with me as an artist and longtime customer /producer. I will also use my influence to assure that the Federal Trade Commission, Social Media outlets, BBB and New Yorks Local Musicians 802 AFM receive a detailed composite including my story and that of dozens of others posted here that corroborate my experience with Reverbnation.

My account was hacked.
They never respond to emails...
Trying to get access to my page, but they wouldn't do scrap...
Stupid annoying ads, you should get burned for this. Stop it. You guys suck...
I used the website intended to purchase $50 of promotion services and ReverbNation quietly withdrew $250 from my bank account without notification. On July 1st, I made transaction for artist promotion on ReverbNations's website for $49.00 using my debit card. I left for a month to travel internationally.
When I returned, I discovered in my bank statement transactions withdrawn from my bank account July 13th, July 20th, July 27th, and August 3rd-- $49.00 each time. I received NO RECEIPTS via email or notification that the company was withdrawing this money from my account, otherwise, I would have stopped them sooner. I called the company in shock that they were taking money out of my account without my permission. They told me they were unable to refund my money. Their reason was that they spent the money I was giving them by allocating the funds to other advertisers. The best they could do was refund $50 of the $200 they snuck from me. Needless to say, I was outraged. I called my bank and told them of the problem and soon received word that they investigated my report and say the transactions were correct.
I'm sure they gave my bank the same story that they used all the money I gave them and there was nothing they could do about it. I am ENRAGED and DISGUSTED that ReverbNation takes money from customer's accounts without notification of their actions when they occur. I do a lot of business over the internet and NEVER have this problem with other companies. I feel stolen from and will never use ReverbNation services again.
By the way, the $250 of advertising made no impact on my product. So, I paid gold for garbage.
Horrible horrible horrible waste of money - scammers, thieves and liars!

Answer: Stay far far away from this site...
Answer: Another classic example of them playing games with users. It used to be there was no file size not allowed. Then they allowed it but required a monthly fee - via their plans which are a joke - to upload larger higher quality files.
Answer: Only if you want to loose money. They will gladly take your money but you won't see any result from it.
Answer: Good question. I don't think this happens from experience. My first release was with Reverbnation, a single which bafflingly was released as an album for $19.99 or whatever it cost. Possibly my fault, didn't hurt me as an artist though as my 1 album single was on iheartradio, spotify and itunes and many other distributers I wouldn't have picked. I since learned about the $1 singles so have made a few releases with that for reverbnation - I've pulled a few singles on Reverbnation and Tunecore and have never received a refund of any kind, nor would I expect to. Reverbnation do credit the money back if you pull the release pre-distribution I know that. Maybe try routenote, I release a lot with them on there 'free' model they do take a cut of the royalties though on that plan - I like that flexibility though to be able to pull and re-release tracks.
Answer: As the reviews here warn, RN isn't interested in maintaining a reputation for integrity, As long as they get your money, the future be damned.
