Hi signed up for Ravelry when it first started. It was a lot of fun to have patterns at my fingertips. So, after over 10 years being on Ravelry I left because they have divided so many people in the fiber world. People are shunned on this site. I printed out all of my paid for patterns and saved them to my own computer and then pulled the plug on them. I'm glad that I did.
Ravelry is the website I trust more than any other. The staff go above and beyond to look after their millions of members around the world. Customer service is astoundingly good. Other websites could learn a great deal from Ravelry.
I have been a member of this website since it was in beta testing in 2008. This has always been a wonderful resource for knitting patterns and a great place to curate your yarn and pattern collection, discover pattern designers and also socialize with other knitters through their group function. Although I haven't been active in groups on the site as much in the past few years, the ones I was a part of were enjoyable. The site administrators do care about their members and do their best to make everyone feel welcome and safe. Unfortunately, with a site with 8.5 million members it can get ugly at times and I can't imagine it is an easy job. If you love to knit/crochet and want a respectful, inclusive and supportive community, this is a great site to join. Or, if you are like me and just like to use it to find cool new patterns and avoid the drama, it's good for that too!
It is a great place for fiber friends! So many patterns and information, plus it is hate speech free! Looks like the twisted panties team is trying to fool you with their fake reviews. Don't buy it; they still use ravelry too because it is the best.
I've been a member of Ravelry for a decade or so now, and I have not lost my love for it in the least. It is simply THE site for knit/crochet.
It is the most complete resource available, from patterns to yarns to forums to how to's and more. I love that I can look up a pattern I plan to make, and see the different ways other people have created it. Sometimes they have made and shared their modifications - so I may find instructions to change it to a shawl collar, or add pockets, or who knows. That alone is fantastic.
But I can also look at the yarn database and see what might be a good investment for my dream sweater. Or I can ask in the forums for some help to get started with these short rows that were confusing me. Or maybe I will participate in a knit-a-long of a pattern, so we can all help each other or be stuck together.
And the price of all this? Blissfully free. The haters must be stirring up s*** to think anything but positive thoughts because this site is amazing.
Ravelry is an absolutely brilliant site that allows users to search, purchase, download, and store knitting and crochet patterns. The message boards/forums are filled with wonderful people who can help with just about everything. The site owners are generous, kind, and strive to create a warm and inviting community. A+++
This site was my go to for many years. I have purchased many patterns from here and most of the time I find exactly what I am looking for bu I don't need any politics messing with my crochet life. Goodbye Ravelry. I really think I can live without you.
Ravelry provides amazing resources for fibre-arts devotees in the form of patterns, forums, social networking, and tons of information in an incredibly easy to use format. It's fabulous! But not only that, Ravelry is one of the few organizations taking a stand against hate speech, and making a real effort to be inclusive and welcoming to all marginalized groups. I have met incredible people here who are now my friends; I have improved my knowledge of and skill in knitting; I have learned to spin and dye fibre; and I have before me an example of people taking a stand for their beliefs.
I've been a member of Ravelry for a number of years and previously thought it an excellent site. That opinion has changed drastically in recent months. A member is creating "projects" to attack other members, quite viciously in fact. Ravelry won't even respond to the complaints, let alone do anything about it. Several people have deleted their accounts after being attacked by this member. Their "community standards" are a complete joke, as the attacks continue, day after day. If you enjoy being bullied, this is a good site. Be prepared to have your knitting criticized, your profession, your looks and your body!
I've loved having access to Ravelry's database of patterns, projects, and communities for over ten years. The wealth of information available on the site is staggering. So thrilled to have such a comprehensive resource available.
I have been a member of Ravelry since 2010, and it is hands down the best resource for patterns, and for advice. Most members are knowledgeable and willing to help point you in the right direction if you need help understanding a pattern or technique. The site is well run, and I have met many people on here who have become my friends.
Website is run by a person who censors all speech, thought or ideas other than his own. He allows Trademark and Copyright infringement He holds data of every account including those of any and all designers once they close their accounts. What you think is yours, isn't. It now belongs to the website owner. He has falsified accounts to make it look like there is over 8 million when there really isn't. He's scammed his followers out of donation money. Ravelry isn't what the owner claims it is. Don't open an account. All patterns you can find elsewhere on the internet. You can find the designers directly on their own websites.
It's the best site I've found to keep track of my knitting projects and yarn stash. I've participated in some group projects there, too, which was fun. If you have questions about a pattern or yarn, there will be someone on the site who will help.
I dont like a side of politics with my yarn. They talk about inclusion, but only if you are in complete compliance with them. Make no mistake, its not only Trump and his policies they are against, they were out to weed out all conservatives and they have succeeded.
This site is discriminatory, hypocritical, and delusional. Their new policy and ethics are pathetic attempts to force their own ignorance onto others. I am rather enjoying watching their business "unravel".
People waste their time on making some stupid $#*! Website is unusable and constantly crashing. Making an account takes way to long and the whole thing is just a shambles.
Yes, they banned vocal support of Trump - for reasons other than what the 1-star reviews state, and they didn't go around capriciously banning users.
Anyway, this site really is the best site for fiber arts out there - by a wide margin. It's a good social media site, and it has a great database that supports a lot of different types of searches. Really, it's remarkable beyond its function for the fiber arts community.
Being a member of this site for years, it provided me with the opportunity to buy and store my patterns and browse the many patterns by designers, some good, some not so good, but there for people to choose. The Forbes, who own this site, have let their political views and now recent guidelines, ruin a good thing. They encourage bullying and name calling of people who they think deserve this treatment because of opposing political views. The Forbes don't know any of these affected people personally, they know nothing about them. Sadly, designers, not all, have followed suit. So if you support this group and their unprofessional attitude, you are a bully too. If you can think for yourself and leave, like so many others who are standing up against this, you will be in the company of true patriots of this country.
I love that they have finally taken a stand against bullying and hate. It made many of the groups unfriendly for so many people, and not a good environment for fostering learning and enrichment. Now I'm more likely to go and get involved in some of the groups. And their pattern database and organization system is stellar!
Ravelry no longer accepts Trump projects or supporters EXCEPT if you make projects that say "$#*! Trump" or pin cushions with Trumps head. A "no hate" platform has become quite a divided space and ridiculous. Ravelry made a political stance based off untrue statements, it's disturbing that yet another platform takes a side and causes more division.
Answer: Ravelry refuses to support bigotry in any form and states so in its TOS. It is a privately owned platform and they are well within their rights. They have absolutely not banned Christians or conservatives, only speech that supports bigots and bigotry.
Answer: Because they are creating a culture of ignorance and hate in the name of politics.
Answer: This has nothing to do with Ravelry. Sockmatician is receiving feedback on a post he wrote and then heavily edited.
Answer: In the notebook section, go to your library. Choose your pattern and there will be a download button. Alternatively, for free patterns, on the main pattern page there will be a link to click to download the pattern or, if it isn't hosted on Ravelry, a link to where you can find the pattern on another website.
Answer: Can you point to any reviews that are actually doing that?
Answer: By email / by downloading it - If you purchase a pattern on Ravelry, it is a digital download.
Answer: How interesting that I answered this question several hours ago, but now *POOF* my answer has magically disappeared. WHICH PROVES MY ASSERTION. This site is helping Ravelry suppress opposing points of view. What that means is, this site is not objective and cannot be trusted for accurate information concerning the businesses that are reviewed.
Answer: I would imagine that it has something to do with Ravelry insisting that their ignorant behavior be defended. Even if that means many will no longer take sitejabber reviews seriously. I mean, how could I? Sitejabber is now guilty of silencing dissenting opinions. Just like Ravelry.
Answer: Laura J., the negative reviews are also objective. They have been posted by real people such as me, reporting real experiences past and present. True assessment of a company needs both sides of the story. If the negative reviews disappear again, it would imply someone from Ravelry is exerting undue influence over SiteJabber. There was mention in an answer to a similar question about some people a "Boycott Ravelry" group using fake names and addresses to post fake reviews. I was not a member of that group, and know some of the people posting reviews since the initial ones were deleted. We are not fake. We speak the truth, whether you want to hear it or not.
Ravelry has a rating of 3.1 stars from 510 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Ravelry most frequently mention fiber arts, white supremacy and social media. Ravelry ranks 1st among Yarns sites.
