Michaels is my go to craft store, however their website is a buggy mess. The refresh rate is horrid and it takes up to an hour to set up an order for pick or delivery.
Usually love any hobby store, this one in Olathe KS clean, arranged beautifully, great sales... till you ask the cashier (who has no one in line-dead first thing Saturday a.m.)l July 20th) how much an item is and you have the tag. She says nothing, no smile, scans it, tells me the price. Ok. I walk away try out another chair, then find the one I'm interested in has it's legs held with a zip tie. No model like the others. I carry it up and ask if she could possibly cut the tie off or could someone do so so I can sit in it to try out. She sighs loudly with impatience, scans it, and tells me the price. Miffed at this point id still like to buy two of them for my son for his first apartment. I choose two, still no one in line, pull them up to register, realize the tags is low. Ask if she can reach and tell her I could hold the scanner for her? She says no, still no hello or smile, and that I need to lift the chair up for her to scan. Seriously? My friend yanks the lower tag off and hands it to her. Too many strikes. You represent the store lady... Won't return.
MY WIFE ORDERED WEDDING INVITATIONS ON 7/31/2019 WE HAVE NOT HEARD A DAM THING FROM MICHAELS SO WE CALLED THEM ON THURSDAY 8/14/2019 AND THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 24-48 HOURS TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON. SO WE CALLED ON MONDAY MONDAY 8/19/2019 AND THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD CONTACTED THE VENDOR WITH NO RESPONSE AND THAT THEY WOULD CALL US WITH AN UPDATED. NO RETURN CALL HAPPEN AGAIN. WE CALLED ON 8/20/2019 AND THEY SAID THE INVITATIONS HAD BEEN MAILED BUT W/O A TRACKING NUMBER. SO WE CALLED TODAY BUT THEY ARE STATING THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO GET A TRACKING NUMBER AND THAT THEY WOULD CALL US BACK. NO SUCH CALL HAPPENED SO I CALLED AND WANTED TO TALK TO A MANAGER AND THEY REFUSED TO PASS ME TO ONE. SO FAR WE HAVE SPOKEN TO CHRIS TWICE, DEBRA. CRYSTAL AND FATIMA.
I ordered a Christmas tree from them early November. The shipment came about 5 days after that. A few days after this, I had gone through my order details and noticed that the price dropped on the tree from $252 dollars down to $185... fairly significant drop.
Like many others, I am busy with life and made a note to give them a call for a price adjustment. I had done so a few days later. The customer service rep spoke very rough english, did not seem to care about my problem, and simply stated that I was outside of the 7 day policy period for price adjustments.
I mentioned that it was only a couple of days, and that I could just have easily brought it into the store, done a return, and re-purchased it at the lower price... she didn't budge. Asked to speak with a manager but "there wasn't one available". Asked to leave my number for her manager and give me a call back and she was unwilling to do that but insisted that I call again at another time. Although she advised that I would probably get the same response.
There are 100s of other places I could have purchased the tree from but I did so with them and asked for a simple price adjustment... instead of yielding the difference of that they lost the sale entirely for over $250 dollars when I returned it at a physical location and I wouldn't hesitate to mention the lack of service/support to others. At least the in-person service was smooth.
You won't see me at Michaels when I can order from my home from amazon with stellar customer support. Good luck Michaels.
Cashier standing at the end of the register I asked her for a price check she said I don't have a price gun on me I will have to go to the register to get I'm thinking it's right there she was rude to the elderly couple in front of me as well she's rude Uncalled for
Never ordering from michaels again... they don't allow you to change address nor refund even when it was less then 24 hours from ordering!
Never ever again
Buying a gift card here is like giving a person trash they don't want, just give cash. At least a Walmart gift card you can get something you actually need
Long since gone are the days of customer service and friendly human contact. I went to my local Michael's store in Webster NY and proceeded to get the many supplies I needed and some that I didn't. I had a full cart of well over 150.00 worth of merchandise and proceeded to the cashier. There was one employee who asked if I was paying by card or cash. I asked does it matter which she replied if you're paying by card you can use our new self checkouts. I asked what if I'm paying by cash? She said than it will be a min while I get another employee to watch me cash you out. I asked oh are you in training she said no its just policy because it's cash. I asked what if I don't want to use the self check out. After all I don't work here and I never use them I think they are extremely unpersonable. She said those were my only 2 choices. I then said so let me get this straight. If I use a card I will have to check myself out where you will then watch me to make sure I'm scanning everything in my cart. But if I pay cash then not only do I get you to do your job but I also get another employee to watch you do your job because they don't trust you. The girl just said yeah basically. I was shocked. I know a lot of stores have become very lacking with human interaction with their customers. However I feel if I don't want human interaction then I can order stuff online. However, if I have take my time to go to a store, obtain merchandise and then pay for it than I should at least have the option of having an actual person who is getting paid cash me out. If I'm going to check my items out and bag them than at least I should be getting an employee discount. I'm tired of big corporations cutting jobs, and human interaction with their customers all to save a buck. Pretty soon it will be the customers coming to empty the delivery trucks and restocking the shelves. Needless to say I left my cart full of items and walked out of the store and went to Hobby Lobby where they don't have self checkouts and I wont be returning to Micheals. By the way 2 other women followed me out who were standing in line and ended up going over to Hobby Lobby too.
Anytime I need art supplies or craft supplies I go to michaels and I end up finding everything I need. It's such a good store and whenever they have sales or coupons it's a always a reasonable offer.
I will never stop with this mf company never again I ordered something and ask the driver to please ring me door bell and I will come to the door and get my stuff and I was told by one of your employees that they txt me and l told her how can they txt a home phone and I no she was lying at that point and she told me to take it up with my bank and I will just take it up with the Better Business Bureau complaints and I will never in like shop with your company and your company get very poor star with this customer
Terrible Website. Hard to use. Long shipping periods. Inaccurate product descriptions. Wrong items sent. Michael's really had so much less products than ever before.
Had a very important christmas project go terribly awry when a gold paint marker (from Michaels) turned out to be DoA. Upsetting, sure, but it was easy enough to head back to Michaels for a replacement. Alas, they were out, and it was closing time. So I placed an online order with another store, to pick up the next day (today). The order included two paint markers (of different brands, to be safe). Not only did they cancel one without notice or an effort to substitute (because it was "out of stock" - despite the website reporting plenty availabile) - but the other one they failed to include in the order. This couldn't be checked until returning home - as the store was insanely busy and the bag was knotted shut. Project ruined, days wasted. Contacting online support in hopes that a replacement could be set aside for one more arduous, last ditch effort to salvage the situation. Unfortunately, the first associate couldn't comprehend that two different markers were ordered and neither were present, and just kept repeating that the item wasn't included because it was out of stock and I'd be refunded. After my third time trying to explain (because it's rocket science, apparently) online support HUNG UP ON ME. They asked a question and then before I could even begin to type a response they wrote "I haven't heard from you regarding the last issue for an excessive amount of time so I'm closing the chat." I can't wait until Michaels is finally out of business - they deserve it.
I just got robbed at this store I went
I just got robbed at this store I went to return some items they said I paid with a gift card I told them that's is not right I paid cash and they said the only thing they can do is give me a credit card I told them why I'm gonna get a credit card when I know what I buy and I paid with my money they said they can't do anything about it cause it's on the Sistem I but two items from the same brand they only accept one and the other one they keep saying that I pay with a gift card this store it's stealing they customers I'm sure what I get how I paid and you know what keep your fckn items I don't want your credit card I don't want the cash maybe they need it more than me I'm not gonna be arguing the whole over the money I was a good client from know only hobby lobby exist for me. Thanks and people please be careful with this store
I wouldnt buy online, go to the store instead. The online catalogues are out of date a lot of the time in my experience. Personal experience is always better, and Michaels is a great company overall.
Tombow dual brush pens at Hobby Lobby are $14.99 and for the same exact set at micheals it was $26.99! That's crazy. I have put the ban on Micheals. That's total gouging.
I ordered a scrapbook kit during the holidays. The delivery was fast and the kit was excellent. I had never done scrapbooking before and this kit had everything spelled out for you.
Service was very good today. Cashier had a return on customer ahead of me so another cashier opened up to keep line moving.
Ordered 5 items for Christmas gifts. Waited several days for updates. Found out only after I tracked shippment that the items were out of stock and or damaged. Was told they would sne replacements only to find out a week later they were also out of stock. I had to call to find that out. NEVER WILL I ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN
Really enjoy shopping at Michael's. The app is not reliable. I tried to update, and order in my phone and both computers. Wastes a lot of my time.
Answer: Why can't you speak with a supervisor or team leader.Do they have any or are they just that busy.
Answer: I've found the prices at Michael's to be about the same as Joann's Fabrics, depending on what you get and how big of a selection you're looking for. Joann's obviously has a larger fabric selection, but the rest is about the same based on the stores in my city. Michael's has some very unique jewelry supplies, if you like to make jewelry. If I just need something pretty basic (paint, brushes, thread, jewelry chain, kids crafts, etc.), I go to whichever store is closest to the area I'll be in that day. If I'm working on jewelry, I check both stores because the selections are different and the prices are about equal. Hobby Lobby may have some better quality items, but you'll pay a lot more than what it's worth.
Answer: Not legit. Just try to get to the corporate office. Look at the reviews... not legit in any way.
