I was using Purplemath.com for a self-paced GRE prep & general math learning/review. It had been 40 years since I took an algebra class. I was very generally happy with it until, without warning, they decided to limit the number of self-tests one can take. In other words, 3 strikes, you're out. The "warning" that came up said that that was all the attempts "my instructor" allowed. Excuse me? Learning is not one-size-fits-all and I have no instructor other than theirs on the videos and myself. The reasoning behind this change I will never understand but I suspect it is because I complained about some of the lessons. Like so many math instructors I have had in the past, they reach a certain point and just assume the student can solve the problems on their own so they do not show the solutions. This assumption has sunk many a struggling math student. They need to understand that they probably do not have a great number of students who are already good at math signing up for their courses and they should assume nothing. They should also understand that there are those who have vision and other limitations that need to be accommodated. I am aware of mine and know how to work around them, but now PM has made that impossible. How can they justify limiting how and how much one can use their pay service and how do they justify changing their policy mid-subscription with no warning? What is one to do when they have exhausted their allowed attempts? What if they planned, as I did, to do the entire course over again no matter how long it took? I had invested a great deal of time in this course but have now cancelled it, which means I will lose all my results and will have to find another course and basically start over. Since I was at the tail end of the course, this is incredibly inconvenient for me. One last thing, to all white board users: please get new markers! It kills me that otherwise polished presentations are given using dry-erase markers that do not work.

I am not one to leave reviews ever. But I felt the need to leave a review for Mathhelp.com so other people can know how good this website is! I was skeptical at first having to pay for a PERT study course but I am so glad I did. I hadn't done any math since high school which was 7 years ago for me and I didn't remember anything at all. But I followed this course for 2 weeks and in that time I learned more than I had at years of school. I scored a perfect 150 on my PERT and because of it I got to take the Accuplacer and scored well on that too which placed me in Pre Calc and Trig! It saved me from taking over a year worth of lower level maths and thousands of dollars. For $50 it was definitely worth it and I would recommend it to anyone who needs to take any math placement test or just wants a refresher in math. I only wish all my math courses used mathhelp.com it is by far much superior to Pearsons mymathlab which pails in comparison. The structure of this course was by far the most efficient way I have ever been taught math. The clear explanations in the short videos and practice questions afterwards makes learning the material so easy! I just want to say thank you!

MathHelp is Magic
September 11, 2020

I'm re-entering college, hoping to go to graduate school in a medical field after having graduated with my undergrad 6 years ago. It has been 8 years since I took a formal math class.

To say I was nervous about taking the Accuplacer test is an understatement. I was having nightmares about having to take remedial math for a second time.

At first I was like "do I really want to spend the $50 to cram for a few weeks?" But then I thought about how much more it would cost to take 6 additional college credits worth of math classes, plus the extra semesters I would need just to get placed in the course I needed. It would cost me an extra $984 if I had to start at remedial math, so the $50 investment was a no-brainer.

I crammed with MathHelp for about 2 weeks and got a 270 on my Accuplacer exam, putting me in Pre-Calculus, the most advanced math I have ever taken before. I entered the class feeling a little nervous, but I'm picking up the material just fine. Thank you MathHelp, I couldn't have done it without you!

I passed with flying colors, on both the TX PACT and the TExES exam for certification. Your program was very helpful in reviewing and refreshing old and new material.
