When I joined 8 years ago, this site did have some claim to be a "proper" penpal site. I've written for lengthy periods of time to quite a lot of interesting and friendly people (and even met a couple, just as friends). So far so good. However hardly any of those friendships lasted and some of my penpals have written for years, long and friendly emails and messages, only to cease for no reason that I could see. This is very disheartening, as another reviewer said, you start to wonder whether you've done or said something wrong, or that they've just gone off you because you've somehow ceased to be interesting. I went back to the site recently to see if I could find new penpals but it seems now to consist of men looking for hook ups and people who stop writing after a few messages or don't reply at all. I recently had one man ask why I was pretending to want a penpal... that's after I told him it wasn't a dating site and he should try OK Cupid..

I am speaking from my point of view as a woman living in a quite rich country. Interpals is mainly consisting of two groups of people: 1) scammers (fake US soldiers in most cases) 2) men from North and West African countries looking for an easy way to start life in a rich country. When you live in such a country you are overloaded with mails from guys age 17 to 60 who are quickly in love with you, tell you they seek their soul mate and so on. Some of them also beg for money (for sick mother, sick father, "schooling" even when they are 30+...) or for a "simple" paper to bring them to your country. Most of those guys are lowly educated and oftenly start talking in an offensive way or start talking about sex. You may find a few people who you really can talk with in a serious way, but this is the exception. It is a waste of time. I am happy that my account was suspended (without warning from moderators) because now I have more time for useful things.

Unexistent support, pro putin website. They delete genuine profiles for years WITHOUT REASON yet they let scammers to flourish on their site. Plenty of rude perverts, pedophiles, scammers, liars, narcisssists, psychopats, genuine people are very hard to find.
They also made some recently changes on their website that crashed the online status and they don't bother to fix it. On search list by last login filter. You see people that appear to be online days ago, yet when you click on their profile they appear to be online or an hour ago.
Also massive invasion on scammer profiles the last few days.
This site became a masive waste of time
Do not recommend it. Avoid at all costs. There are better sites out there.

I joined this site in 2015 and there seemed to be some genuine people back then and I still keep in contact with few of them(all girls). Guys(most if not all) cannot be trusted on this site because they are only looking for a relationship with you. You will also see many pervy men hitting on you regardless of what you say in your profile saying that you don't want relationships. This is mostly a Tinder site for guys. I should have stopped using this site but I continued to use this site in hopes of finding genuine people who are only interested in friendships. You will probably find 1 genuine person out of 200 people. Also recently the moderator suspended by account without any reason after being a member since 2015. There is no email saying as to why my account was suspended. This site is horrible and I'm glad my account got deleted anyways because I will not be using this $#*!ty website anymore.

Apart from getting 200 messages from scammers and perverts, there were maybe about 5 people who I thought were normal. From that 5 it reduced to 0. One guy befriended me telling me to watch out for the perverts- he ended up being one of them himself trying to entice me into cybersex. Anyone who seems 'normal' are not really- they were weird, lacked humor and rude. I think anyone normal leave this site and it attracts social rejects of society who are a bit weird. Overall this is not a site to find people with substance. It's a waste of time and i'd rather not have more stress in my life.

This site is not a Penpal site, it's a sex site and their moderation team does no moderation unless it suits them. Girls are flashing their body parts especially while covering their face with their phone too while saying "not interested in flirting", linking just their Instagram to try and leech followers, guys and old men hit on minors and inappropriate pictures are on this website and the moderation team does nothing about it even if they're reported.

This website should be reported to the police or some other law enforcement since it's tons of nudity, inappropriate photos, inappropriate flirting and this site welcomes minors of 13+, and even they are exposed to this flirting by 20-60 old men.

This website used to be a lot better (2005-2006) until they introduced the "facebook" like features - tons of photos can be added, updating statuses, etc... Takes away from good quality friendship. The only thing that people on this site are looking for is for someone to stroke his/her ego by uploading tons of photos and getting people to "like" or "comment" on them. No one is looking for serious friendships at all.

I have encountered a lot of mean and cruel people on this site, too, many of who are racist, close-minded, etc... Especially those from Asian and European cultures. I have yet to meet a quality person on this site at all. It sucks that there aren't any other penpal sites out there, too!

I would not recommend this site to a mortal enemy!

Well, I have used other similar websites and apps and I have experienced the same things on all of them.

People to whom you send a message and do not answer.

People that answer just one or two messages and then disappear.

People with whom you were having a good conversation and, all of a sudden, they stop messaging for no reason.

Among other things. It not only happens on Interpals, this happens everywhere else. I guess that knowing this beforehand will save you a lot of trouble. Still, I was able to make some friends like that. It may be luck, but it is possible. You may also not make any friends, but at least this site allows you to have some good conversations with people, even if you don't continue talking with them in the long run. Just like in real life, you don't continue talking with many people even if you considered them friends.

Overall, I think the site is good if you know how to use it, despite its flaws.

Interpals is full of Russian users who openly support Putin's war in Ukraine. They say things like, 'I support Putin, and I don't care what anyone thinks,' or, 'Europe and the US are foolish - we cannot understand why they are sanctioning us. They are only going to hurt themselves.' Or, much, MUCH worse, they simply post links to videos of Russian government propaganda about the 'Nazis' that the glorious Russian government is defending the world from.

HOWEVER, if you write anything in reply, you are INSTANTLY banned!

For example, I wrote a reply to one such post, POLITELY pointing out that little children were being killed in bombing and shelling, not to mention the fact that their childhoods' were being destroyed, and I was INSTANTLY banned.

It's alright to make pro-Putin statements, but not to write anything in reply. If you say ANYTHING against a Putin supporter, no matter how politely, you are banned.

It's not a good website.

Don't trust any of the people you meet from this site without carefully review their ID to match themselves, that means, if they want to chat, make sure you are chatting with someone that is a totally honest person. Most of people are scammers here. Please be aware!
If you feel something fishy, trust your gut and go with your instinct, don't question yourself to see if you were wrong, you rather trust yourself than some strangers, you never know who is hidden behind the computer.
People with goodwills need to be protected and protect themselves, especially protect all the money you have earned with your hard work, lock it and keep it in your bank account, never offer any to someone you have met on the internet, be as realistic as you can be. Warn your friends. They are scammers!

Interpals is awful. You create an account and then you start making friends and then WHAM---your account gets suspended by a moderator, but no one, no one, will tell you what youve done or why your account was taken down. Even when you are doing nothing, and I mean absolutely, nothing wrong, your account will get suspended if there are enough horny or creepy males who put a compliant against you, because you wont sex chat with them or send them naked pictures. It is disgusting how moderators on this web site will suspend your account without even giving you a chance to plead your case or ask for your account to be reinstated. This site is pathetic and a bunch of losers. Do not, I repeat do not, use this website. There are far more better ones out there that dont suspend your account on whims that dont make sense.

Beware - people can truly make up entirely false identities on sites like this, and there is no way to know if what they are saying to you about themselves is true or not. There is no way to know if that is really them in those profile photos, until they start trying to coerce you to "chat via skype" and then there's usually a purely sexual undertone to it... if that's all you care to find online, you will find it here, BUT if you are a decent, friendly person looking to make real friends - or wanting new friends for your KIDS to talk to, I wouldn't suggest this site at all...

There is a moderator there or a group of moderators, that bully people and keep deactivating their accounts for no reason. This is really childish and pathetic behaviour, they need to hire people that actually do work on the site instead or carrying out their personal vendettas against people. To that moderator who keeps doing that. I will keep coming back. You are wasting your time. Keep on wasting it.

Interpals.net is a siteful of perverts and scumbags who treat women like free prostitutes. No use wasting time on that stupid site. My friend got scammed there and that bastard is no longer active but he might have created another account which is easy as pie. Many users set a false country as their home and hide behind fake photos. They are notorious liars who would do anything just to get laid via Skype. Maybe 15 year olds find it funny. I certainly do not.
