Review of a 16 year user:

I have been on this platform for sixteen trying years. The program was good (at first) when it was new. Hence - new. Now that there are several different platforms like it you can see how dated it is. Lots of people dont know that this was not a mobile app before, it was for PC. In its infancy it was fun, but the owners of the program are lazy, greedy, and absolutely shameless. I have seen moderators grief users, appear in their rooms and entice people, and ban people for completely arbitrary reasons. On top of that the program software hasnt seen so much as even an attempt (as weak as they were when they tried) to actually improve the software. Some people say its better then secondlife, only as far as how far your credits (compared to linden) will take you; or with how easy the interface is to understand. But its only easier to understand due to how excruciatingly primitive it is. Secondlife absolutely -HUMILIATES- this program. I have been a user since its beta, and from what must have been 2007-2008, we are still stiff, lifeless avatars, clicking dots to poof around on poorly rendered furniture. Meanwhile secondlife is flying, walking, riding bikes, etc. I recently checked in and was in financial hardship so I asked about selling my account. No clue that doing such was considered against terms. I was banned (no overexaggeration) in less than 5 minutes. No warning, no message, no correspondence. Just perma banned on the spot. 16 years. COUNTLESS dollars put on the account and time spent. Over 100,000 credits still on the account, no other problems violating terms even once in the entire 16 years and I get perma-banned just for stating I had intentions to sale my account, as if every time you log in there are terms of service to remind you of this over the course of 16 year tenure. Now I've put in a help ticket on a new account to request the decision be overturned and you guessed it; I have to deal with that absolute garbage customer service that they call themselves "providing". If you dont spend even more money buying the absolutely useless VIP sub - you will get non-existent support, bots if you do have it. But let me make you aware of whats worse. Crazy thing is, they insta-banned me for just this. But there are TONS of pedofiles, child groomers, and other sick people on the site walking free all the time. Priorities - are definitely not in order.

Features have been cut since prior releases and updates. Standard membership you only get one room slot, have to buy the creator program, certain features to keep track of friends are pay-walled, things as simple as seeing who in the room is a moderator, being in multiple rooms at once, having multiple rooms, and even changing outfits or parts of an outfit on the fly - are either paywalled, stripped from more recent updates, or entirely missing for mobile users. And it doesnt help that they falsely advertise on several different websites. Whether as a romantic connections website, dating network, or a video game, imvu is none of these things. Its simply virtual chat software with a dress-up avatar to match. But the company is so absolutely greedy and lazy that I have watched over the years as a website that I know and love loses all of its passion, effort, and novelty to cheap, shameless materialistic greed to the point that I see the community becoming less and less quality due to the app being advertised as a glorified pseudo-instagram mobile app...ridiculous and embarrassing. I used to reccommend this website to so many people, hell - Im probably responsible for alot of high numbers of long time members due to the Roleplay/writing scene it used to have. But now days? Its one of the laziest, lowest quality, most toxic programs you could ever waste your time and money on. Trust me. Bear through the learning curve and be patient enough to just go to secondlife or migrate over if you are still on imvu.

The website is a cesspool for child predators and should probably be (or have been for a while now) investigated for such.

Careless Staff, Useless Support

What a game. Even after all this time, there's still something to come back to. Nearly 20 years after its release, the community and creators hang on to the freedom and creativity that continues to set it apart from even modern-day competitors. Despite the painfully obvious apathy of the people running it. Even ignoring all of the problems with UI, cross-platform compatibility, character models, outdated features, unheard requests and unfixed issues with the game itself, dedicated users like me continue to pick up the crumbs and find reasons to enjoy this miserable, unloved game for its barest of bones. But it's clear that won't continue for much longer as the disregard of the staff now bleeds into aspects even as important as general user support.

As recently as a couple years ago, I was able to get a case resolved relatively painlessly, but since then they seem to have completely changed their support process. I opened a case back in May of this year to resolve a simple issue I was having with an offer not tracking. My offer status page was empty and even "completed" offers weren't showing (which I knew was incorrect as I had completed a few offers in the past). Since I had had success with support regarding offers in the previous years, I thought it would be a simple process for them to either tell me why my offer wasn't tracking or give me the information on the offer that I wasn't able to see on my offer page. Instead, I was immediately given a generic response regarding missing credits and redirected via a couple different links (irrelevant to the issue of the case which I specified in the description). I politely told them that I wasn't missing credits but only wanted to confirm the status of my offer and was then met with another generic response, this time about offer availability (again irrelevant). I told them the offer was available to me and I had already started it, etc. I was then asked to "provide us a screenshot of the error you are getting" (real professional), so I sent them a screenshot of the empty offers page. Then I was told to contact the third-party partner directly, which I found unacceptable as it is IMVU's responsibility to ensure offers and offer partners are legitimate for their users. (They also gave me some unhelpful advice about reporting the offer via the offer page, which I obviously couldn't do as my offer page was empty, hence the reason for my case.) However, I made an attempt (with no response from the offer partner--shocking) and responded back to IMVU. I told them I was not able to reach the partner as it wanted a business name and suggested they contact the partner themselves since they are the business I am affiliated with in this case. Afterward, they sent me a list of requests for information "regarding your missing credits." I had already stated I was not missing credits, but provided the information to the best of my ability, hoping they could make some use of it. (Thank you to Angelica for the most professional, albeit equally useless, response during this case by the way). They responded saying I had not completed the offer "based on the screenshots I provided" and could not award me the credits (the ones I hadn't asked for and stated explicitly that I was not missing).

Throughout this process, I was passed off from one representative to another with repetitive and unhelpful responses. Each seemed to completely ignore the case description or any prior messages/context. At this point, it had become obvious that no one was actually taking the time to read my requests or respond in any relevant way, so I clarified for a final time that my offer was not complete, I was not missing credits, and I wanted help regarding the INITIAL ISSUE I described in the description when I opened the case. They once again responded asking for confirmation of the offer completion, so I told them to close the case as they were clearly not paying any attention and did not intend to solve anything. I'm unsure if this case will be closed or if there will be further correspondence, but I'm not really concerned at this point. I have had enough to tell me the IMVU support is completely unprofessional and insulting.

I will not bother using IMVU support in the future or completing any offers through IMVU as it is clear that there is NO security in doing business with them. I may get on every once and awhile to do the daily spin and change my outfit when I can afford to do so. Otherwise, any remaining hope I had for this site is lost. It's dying and no one with any power cares.

PS: The offer in question was worth 20-30k credits iirc (this was MONTHS ago obviously, so I can't remember exactly but I know it was at least 20k), but more important to me is the time I spent trying to complete it (I believe I eventually did, but I cannot confirm as the offer does not seem to be tracking clearly), plus the extra time spent corresponding with support. For reference, all web offers on IMVU as of this date are completed through the RevU portal. (This is the offer page pictured in my screenshots.) There is a different offer page for mobile offers. I did provide them with both offer pages just in case.

IMVU IS $#*!TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT...

I recently had the unfortunate experience of playing imvu, and I can confidently say that it was one of the most disappointing and frustrating gaming experiences I've had in a long time. This game falls far short of its promises and fails to deliver on almost every level.

First and foremost, let's talk about the gameplay. It is clunky, unresponsive, and lacks any sense of polish or refinement. The controls feel awkward and imprecise, making even the simplest tasks a chore. It's as if the developers didn't bother to playtest their own game before releasing it to the public. The overall mechanics are convoluted, leaving players confused and frustrated rather than engaged and entertained.

The graphics and visuals are equally underwhelming. The textures are low-resolution and lack detail, giving the game a dated and unappealing look. The environments feel lifeless and generic, with no memorable landmarks or captivating aesthetics. It's clear that the developers prioritized quantity over quality when it came to designing the game world.

Furthermore, the storyline and writing are an absolute trainwreck. The narrative is convoluted and poorly paced, leaving players feeling disconnected and uninterested in the characters and their motivations. The dialogue is clichéd and uninspired, with cringe-worthy one-liners and forced attempts at humor. It's evident that the writing team put minimal effort into creating a compelling and engaging story.

On top of all these glaring flaws, the game is riddled with bugs and technical issues. From game-breaking crashes to constant frame rate drops, it's clear that the developers rushed the release without properly optimizing the game. These issues severely hinder the gameplay experience and make it virtually unplayable at times.

Lastly, the lack of post-launch support and updates is concerning. It seems that the developers have abandoned the game shortly after its release, leaving players with a broken and incomplete product. This lack of commitment to their own creation only adds insult to injury for those who invested time and money into this game.

In conclusion, I strongly advise against wasting your hard-earned money on [Game Title]. Its clunky gameplay, lackluster visuals, terrible writing, and numerous technical issues make it an unenjoyable and frustrating experience. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere for a game that actually lives up to its promises.

Tell me why people would want to be on IMVU when they get threatened, harassed, bullied stalked, people posted unwanted comments on their profile, they make bots to post unwanted comments on people's posts, they threaten presidents and people have to contact the police to make it all stop on IMVU. Would you consider it harassment or bullying when they call me a $#*!, slut, $#*!, whore, pedophile, Bible thumper, Bible basher, Jesus's $#*! and Jesus's slut? They don't get banned for saying those things in chatrooms, but you banned me for posting about IMVU users. Then you banned me for repeating that in Xtreme DJ's Club chatroom because I say they called me a c, w, s, b, Bible basher, Bible thumper, Jesus's sand Jesus's c. You banned me for saying this in the chatroom, "They threatened to burn me alive, they threatened to burn my parents alive, they threatened to burn my house down, they threatened to burn my church down, they threatened to crush my teeth, they threatened to rape me and they threatened to finger me." Tell me how they don't get banned for saying those things in chatrooms. It is completely wrong. You banned me because you want to make me shut me up. I know who is banning me. Atleast this time I did not get banned for my posts. I don't know what else to say. They told me to go have sex with Jesus. Then they told me to give Jesus a blow job. I am not getting banned for my Bible verses. Posting Bible verses is a freedom of speech. If I offend people with my Bible verses then they should block me. They make fun of me for contacting IMVU Help Center. Some of them stopped talking to me after they found out I contact IMVU Help Center. You should stop all this before this gets to bad. IMVU and their Community Board treats their customers like Crap. Avoid this website at all Costs!

This website makes their own rules as they go along. They never fix anything that goes wrong on the website and the customer service is useless. All of their community board moderators and the manager of it whose avatar name is ShannonMac are clueless and treat their customers like crap and ignore all the questions and complaints. They are on a power trip and do not care one bit about the customers, all they care about is suspending members accounts or banning them from posting on the community board and silencing them. One of the community board moderators named Sugercone doesnt do a single thing to help any of the members except she loves to threaten the customers and suspend them. She is useless and disrespectful but her manager always backs and stands up for these moderators and tells the customers they are wrong no matter what.And you cant get anybody on the phone at this website to tell them about how they treat you because they never pick up the phone. They never give updates and you end up paying your membership for useless music that doesnt work. They only get back to you when they suspend you or threaten you.They try to censor their customers so they shut up and go away so they dont have to do anything.If you voice your opinions about things that are wrong on the site they remove all your posts and threaten you. The music has been broken on this site for years now and if you complain about it they threaten you with suspensions and bans.It still has never been fixed and people have paid thousands of dollars for music that skips or stops or doesnt work at all. Their website engineers are incompetent and have no idea how to fix anything. When they try to it takes years for them to come up with something.No website should be allowed to take money from people for this kind of broken defective service. They had over 3 1/2 years to be ready for the Adobe Flash Player to stop working which would stop the customers from sampling the music before they buy it and they did absolutely nothing in those 3 1/2 years to have a solution for when it stopped. That was announced in 2017 that the Flash Player was being discontinued and would be ending at the end of 2020 and now the music sampling doesnt work anymore and they are telling us all to have patience and understanding... lol... what a joke. They had 3 1/2 years and sat on their asses and did nothing and now they say they are working on it. Yet they continue to take members money every day for a broken service. People are getting smart now and leaving this website and not renewing their memberships. Anybody thinking about joining this website please dont waste your hard earned money. You will regret it. Avoid it at all costs. I have learned my lesson the hard way and wasted thousands of dollars on this crap and have been dis-respected by these unprofessional moderators and managers that control this site and have no respect for their paying customers. They will regret it as more people stop paying to be on it anymore. IMVU stands for I AM VIOLENT at YOU because thats how this bunch of people come at the customers. They just steal your money and laugh at you as they spit in your face. I would have rated it at ZERO stars but you have to give it at least one star on here according to the ratings but believe me, it is a ZERO rating... DONT EVER JOIN THIS WEBSITE NO MATTER WHAT!

After countless days of slugging through poorly worded, copy-paste solutions from numerous employees, (I had spoken to seven thus far, all of them stating the same thing), I'm sad to say I have yet to meet a solution. I'd been an active and loyal user for two to three years, give or take, and had spend countless of hundreds of dollars. My account was permanently terminated for fraud, in which I was given no evidence for due to privacy reasons, despite myself being fully willing to provide legal documents in order to prove my identity. I warn everyone never to spend one penny on this $#*!ty site and don't give them your money and waste your money and time on this useless place, now imvu have became a place where only raspiests and pedophiles and racists people hang out, you wont find single decent person on imvu, and it has only turned in to a place to steal peoples money and to offend them and violate them, imvu talks about violating their terms of service when the truth is that they are the ones violating all peoples rights and money... I warn everyone never to think on spending money on imvu, even if you spend thousands and you been a user for so many years they wont care and will disable you whenever they want and for no reason at all without any explanation or warning... you will lose everything in a second... take it from a person who used imvu for 13 years and spend so much on it and worked my heart and soul to build my account on it, and even then they disabled me for no reason and when i have done nothing. No one's account is safe on imvu or protected, they can throw you in the trash whenever they want and feel like it without giving any explanation or reasons, even if you are going by their rules and policies and never broke them they will still treat you like a criminal, this is no way to do business or treat the customers, very very poor and pathetic way of doing business. IMVU have 0 customer service and support, they treat their customers so bad and worse than trash, i have been on imvu since 13 years and not even once have broken any imvu policies or rules or went against any of imvu TOS, and even then imvu disabled my account for no reason twice, first time when they did it was proved that i did nothing and then i had it back now they did the same thing again and without any justification, they just assume things and disable accounts at once on suspicion and doubts without even investigating in the matter or making sure of it. No one should spend one penny on this thing or give them any money, they can disable you at anytime without any reason even if you are old and senior user or even if you have spent fortune on it, they wont care and will disable your account without any explanation or justification... stop wasting your money, I am a living example of that... my account is 13 years old and i spend so much time and did so much hard work on building it and yet they disabled me for no reason when i did nothing wrong.

Truly a declining experience.

I have been using this virtual chat client on and off for 10+ years and today I got a nasty shock.

Some busybody decided to flag a catalog item of mine which did not violate any policies written on TOS, yet it was removed from catalog and leaving me -30 k in my account credit balance. It was up for years and a popular item, if there was really an issue, it would have been gone long ago. A simple black helmet. Nothing on it. Nothing outrageous. Just a simple PVC texture. Too offensive apparently. Yet developers with genuinely outrageous items get away with it for years! Never being even grazed by the heavy hand of IMVU mods and their underhanded ways! Truly it seems there is favoritism in place. There are no means to challenge unjustified flagging either.

I had put up with this place for a decade.

In the start it was great, we ground our teeth and bared all the glitches, crashes, broken chats, items not loading item servers being down because we wanted to talk to our lively online friends.

Now... A decade later it is a ghost town, and a much more expensive one than it used to be. Just as glitchy if not more. They did away with the resellers, they did away with promotional offers that actually made a difference. They did away with lots of community spirit and did away with lots of items that created this place fun and enjoyable.

The only thing happening here now is the endless rampage of SJW culture and reporting anyone and anything that even sneezes their way or doesn't look as if it was made for the NEW target audience, 13 year old teen girls.

Done with it, uninstalling the thing as I am writing this. I'm tired of being ripped off. I regret spending my time and money on this failing enterprise. I wish I had never began nor even recommended this train wreck to others. I never know where the next busybody will come with a quivering finger, hovering above my thousands of IMVU catalog items.

This is an opinion from an actual ADULT customer, the PAYING customer. If you want to get rid of people like me, just say it outright instead of jabbing at me by unfair flags and being squeezed in the corner. Go have your PG Club Penguin V2 that is the current IMVU. Just remember, it may go belly up just like the comparison if you keep at this.

I love IMVU

Personally I love IMVU as a concept. I have several rooms including a gothic underground tomb night club, several cars, the creators are amazing and really think this stuff out hell even my Avatar looks just like me, dresses like me and I even get hats that are as close to my own which I customize myself in RL. I like to post it as a default in other chats and people comment how close it is all the time. Great Graphics though walking with free range would be nice instead of just popping up where the little spots tell you to go but we can live with that. Last but certainly not least creative users that become creators and put such beautiful detail in their products you can buy.

So what is it I don't like? Where to start.

1) I didn't like being accused by their trouble making moderators of being warned 14 times in my first week I was there when actually it was two. Some peoples started bullying me in a room I liked going in because it was quite till they got there and I got a warning and the second time some guy ran his mouth at me so I said a few things back and I left. Both times I got the warnings and I was fine with that. But 14 times? Did they really think just because I was a Newbie that meant I was stupid? Please both those people where VIP and probably giving so much money to IMVU they had a free pass to do anything they wanted.

Anyway after I made my point the Mod that tried to lie about how many reports I had changed it to 4 reports which was still one more than in reality after the last one which that one I probably did get a little more mouthy than I should have to be fair, then than that Mod blocked me from being able to answer back ever again.

Really, if you're a Mod you should ALWAYS keep yourself open to hearing out the people you are accusing with an open mind or get the hell out of that seat. You don't belong there.

2) Customer service. Rude, their answers are pre-written and when their copy paste BS don't work they blame your equipment even though it all works fine until THEIR update, like having to find out what's wrong with all my youtube players from different venders with every other update or why the thing just crashes after a new update is installed until a new update comes around and it works fine. But of course that's the users fault and they don't know anything.

3) it crashes, some times ALLOT! It causes everything to lag. Back in 2008 it was recommended to have a 4 core with 6 gigs ram. Really? Who even had that hi grade of computer back then? It's obvious they really only want money bags in there to feed their pig, not some normal loser like me that has to build budget boxes and get's a $10.00 card every month or so.

4) I hear they also like to get creators to create real nice products then ban them with false statements of using illegal software or fabricating a warning list they never produce and then taking the persons products they banned and continuing to sell them with out giving any payment to the creator. Which I'm inclined to believe because to go along with this their free Credit games, don't touch them, you get no game, all the sudden your computer runs like hell and if you do a Rootkit scan you will most likely find it and a few other malware in your device that wasn't in there before. As your Credit card info and other personal info is stolen because of this they say doesn't exist you can bet that your bank account will be a skinny next time you look into it. Glad I don't keep money or PI on mine, because I have had to pull the viruses... That according to moderators that troll their forums are impossible to exist.

5) The moderators. Not only do they fabricate lies about your record to make an excuse to throw away the little spenders and new comers as they tried to me and just use Google you can see I'm certainly not the only one, but they allow people to use it as a hackers paradise although they will ban a person stating they are allegedly using stolen software or not authenticated apps. I don't hate hackers. God knows I keep some Anons at the ready on Facebook for information however I don't like troll hacking. It's where you go in, talk s@#$ to a person to get them to talk s@#$ back and then use that as an excuse to hack that person when they are defending them selves. True bully tactics. In the real world most people shun this behavior but IMVU rewards it. Makes sense considering IMVU has a reputation them selves for slipping in Trojans to those looking for a good deal in their offerings.

6) the youtube players stop working after roughly every other update of the app. Once again I am having that problem. I refuse to ask the staff again what to do because it will always be the same run around, check this, change that and see if this is installed right and look for this update. Pre-Written copied and pasted just like always with no avail. Then some one will pop up saying HERE try this patch which usually does work but not tonight. I'll have to wait for the next update to get those back online again which leads me to my final issue about this problem. It took almost an hour to DL the new IMVU app, you mean with that over bloated POS that looks just like the other one before but took this long to DL where others only took about 10 minutes they couldn't get the youtube players to function correctly.

And yes I know they are creator supported but when I have 3 players made by 3 creators and once again they stop working with an app upgrade that's a pretty sure thing it's the app, not the player. I know my flash is updated because it always is and just to make sure I updated it again.

The way I look at it those are all significant issues that need to be addressed for this site to be safe and reliable. God knows it's really not that secure because they say don't give out information but as soon as you put your CC info on it, their servers have that information which seem to get hacked allot from what I also understand so...
