Hookuphangout is the second online dating site im reviewing as part of my online dating screwathon. Ill be posting my findings here and on my website, as usual.
I joined hookuphangout and found the sign up process to be pretty quick, which is typical these days as the companies want to get you through the door fast. I activated my email and then I was in. After a brief search to get an idea of how many women were in my area, I ended up at the upgrade page (note: you have to pay to send a message). I went for the one month, as Im doing for all my reviews.
I paid with a credit card and then I went to work. I did advanced searches to narrow down women in my immediate vicinity and started to send some messages out.
The standard of women isnt too bad and I obviously ignored a couple of stunning beauties as I reckon they could have been fakes that have signed up to the site. The actual communication options are fairly standard but I do like the option to have a webcam meeting with someone that you like on the site, if they agree of course. I didnt manage to do this as my focus was on trying to arrange an actual night out, but if I was using the site long term I could definitely see me getting into the webcam chats to prevent any nasty surprises and maybe even get a bit of cyber going, late 90s style!
For the first few days I got a couple of likes to my profile but it wasnt until that weekend that I got a reply. Well, I got two actually. One was just 8 miles away but the other was a bit farther and a bit larger than the type of girl Id normally go for, even for the purpose of testing the site! I decided to focus on the closer one and put more effort in there and got a good chat going. Shes a nurse, mid-twenties and on placement in a clinic near me but was originally from Sunderland. I suggested meeting up and she seemed up for it but couldnt for a couple of weekends. I asked if thats because she was meeting other guys and she didnt reply. Dammit I thought, sending her a few more messages until I started to get other replies in from other girls. Long story short, I did end up speaking with 8 girls in that first month and I think if I did a second month that would snowball. But for that first month the only meeting I had was with a girl who must have been early thirties and was very much the kind of girl you expect to be on these sites. A bit cold and non-committal for the first few messages but once we agreed to meet up she came out of her shell. And the meeting itself was perfect and a great end to my hookup hangout testing experience. Put it this way, ive got her number and was a bit reluctant to leave HH after that! Never mind the fake reviews that have been submitted by the so called "satisfied users" of this website. Those reviews are not real.
The website is filled with fake accounts, and you will only receive spam messages from "women" with fake profile pictures stolen from the internet. They mix pictures of models, with pictures of regular women naked to make it seem like the profiles are legit, but they are not.
The so called "women" of the website send you messages that are clearly massively spammed out. Some will try to redirect you out of the website, others will ask for your e-mail or skype and say that they don't have a microphone so they can't talk. Then if you suggest that they are fake they immediately leave.
There are dating websites out there that are free, where you don't have to buy a membership to message members. And on this website you literally can't do anything without buying a gold membership. You can't send messages and you can't read messages. When you do get a membership ( if you are stupid enough like me) you will quickly find out that all those "women" who messaged you as soon as you registered are nothing but spam bots. They will not reply back to you, and will only send "winks" or "cards" without actually saying anything or attempting to chat with you. The ones that do attempt to chat with you are fake users, who will most likely try to scam you on skype or gmail.
Also to cancel your gold membership you have to do it 14 days in advance before your next payment is due, otherwise they will keep automatically charging your card, which of course they neglect to mention when you first sign up. I had to fill up a form and submit it via e-mail asking for my membership to be cancelled, and even now I'm not sure that I won't get charged for a second month. I might even have to cancel my card.
All the "satisfied males" that posted a review aren't real, and while I'm sure that if you're a woman there will be plently of males on the website (just like in any other website), most guys who sign up for this website are only looking to get laid, since that's the message the website sells. It's not about dating, making new friends, or meeting interesting people, it's all about sex. So why would you want to meet men like that anyway?
Bottom line is "DON'T JOIN THIS WEBSITE!" and whatever you do "DON'T PAY FOR A MEMBERSHIP!" You might think it won't happen to you, but it will. It doesn't matter what you look like, good looking or not, if you are a man you will get scammed and suckered if you buy a membership from this website.
Don't join a website where you have to pay to do something as simple as reading a message.
This site is full of people who are judgemental, shallow, only interested in sex, depraved, immoral and vainI bloody LOVE it!
DEFINITELY WORTH A TRY!
