Joke's on HGTv
April 16, 2017

Home Town is a total rip-off of Fixer Upper with two of the most un-charismatic, untalented people on HGTV's network. What the heck are you thinking? Just a few minutes of their meaningless jabber and use of "Babe" makes me want to throw-up. Get rid of them and the amateur hour. And while you're at it, FIRE the person who gave this the green light. Guess they think anyone who watches is as stupid as they are.

So the woman is annoying as it looks like she really believes that she knows what she is doing. The guy might be a nice dude, but his voice sounds like he swallowed three frogs and he seems like he hasn't a clue. HGTV really needs to come up with something new for these two to do. Have the woman run a cigarette stand and have the buffoon install Directv. My wife watches this garbage and hearing that loud mouthed bumpkin talk with her phony accent is grating.

Did not have access to this show for many years. Now that I have again, just amazed at how bad the programming is. How does a company like HGTV continue to produce such bad shows and continued repeats of shows? Over & over the same things. Then the Brady Bunch show. Watched for 15 minutes & changed the Chanel.

Still waiting for Boise Boys episodes I paid for but have never been shown.

Have no idea who is in charge, but I would suggest a complete overhaul.

THE WORST
May 3, 2017

We watched hometown for the first time tonight and all I can say is this is the worst show I have ever seen on HGTV! Everything about it is horrible. From their designs, their personalities, their bad acting, and awkward chemistry. This show is boring, and pathetic. It literally seems like you yanked people off the street with no talent. Do yourself a favor, and listen to what your viewers think.

5 day flip

I watched this show with my friends, the host Cherie talks so much that you get bored listening to her speak. Also if your going to be on television Cherie should definitely get plastic surgery on her eyes, sometimes she looks like she's in her 30's other shots she looks like she's in her 50's, and lastly at the end of every open house she tells people: Do you want to put in a offer, it comes across that she's pretty desperate.

This show is so bad. The characters have no personality and cannot design to save their lives. I watch tv 90% of the time, but turn the channel when this comes on. Take it off tv and do more Fixer Upper shows.

HGTV is our escape from the world, news, politics and talk shows. We pay for this channel and Oprah's segment however important has no business being televised on a Home channel. If this persists I will sadly drop this channel. Very disappointed.

Most shows on HGTV are enjoyable and helpful. I love restoring older homes so was excited to see the show called "restored". I cannot stand listening to the cowboy /restorer. His voice is like chalkboard. Please find someone with humor, personality and an easy listening voice!

Rip off of southerners
December 29, 2017

I watched a number of these shows and next to fixer upper Home Town rips off the people. For 50 grand fixer upper would give you wonderful upgrades and home town gives you so much less. The people actually act impressed, whereas I would be pissed off. I believe it is in their designs. No where near the class if Fixer Upper. Both Home Town people dress sloppy and even their house isn't that great considering what they try to portray. Sorry guys, your work doesn't have the flair of Fixer Upper and you are a lot more expensive.

Great show!
May 4, 2017

YAY! We love this show. Ben is the funniest guy ever, and Erin is cute, too. I like how they are frugal and not over-the-top with things; they seem more down to earth and normal than other HGTV stars! We are officially hooked and hope it stays on forever!

I love them both
September 14, 2017

I love this couple. They seem so sweet, kind, and genuine in their desire to help their home town. Why are some of these reviews so hateful? Is it because they were written by hateful, obnoxious, pretentious, snooty people without one ounce of character in their entire being? Probably. Their designs are beautifully thought out and executed, designed for real people, with real families. I love her decorating, it's warm, cozy and inviting. I also love her artwork of the houses. They're such a sweet and thoughtful rendering of the couple's house. I cannot believe the hurtful comments people made about this gesture on behalf of the couple to the new owners of the properties. I'm trying to understand why, and the only explanation that I can possibly come up with is that they're $#*!s, plain and simple. Please HGTV bring this show back.

Good Bones
May 2, 2018

If I wanted to watch new homes being built I would go to a new neighborhood in my area and do so. They never preserve the original homes with woodwork and exterior trims etc. Of course they will be pretty they re brand new. Mom's laughing is annoying as hell, I am sure she is a wonderful person but let's stop laughing at everything.

Horrendous
February 25, 2018

I feel so validated after reading all the negative reviews about Hometown. My boyfriend and I have been going crazy hearing the Sheryl Crow song every five minutes, in addition to Get up and DO it! I watched five minutes of one show, which featured a 60 year old pastor buying a house for the first time. Boring and awkward. Please get rid of this show or HGTV may go on our do not watch list.

Please delete this show. I cannot stand that Gorilla husband wrap his arms around his wife every time they are together. He is abominable and should not be portrayed in any HGTV show. I dread when your network advertises their show. I cannot wait to switch to a less nauseating show. Please take these people off your network. I will thank you to the high heavens.

Do not like them putting political shows on the channel. News is so fake and my escape was hgtv, until now plus the comedian responses are goofy and not funny or informative at all. A waste of entertainment now. So sad.

Racist Language
September 2, 2019

I had never watched Home Town before and I will never watch it again because of a racial slur. In Season 2, Episode 2 the show is renovating a home for a black school teacher. At one point in the show Jesse the "lil Brother" is asked to make a large table for the teacher's family to hold 11 people. Jesse asks, "Do you mean regular size or $#*! size? WHAT? Are you serious? How can you let this type of language pass? That is so racist. Jesse is a good example of why many people in this country think that southerners are rude, crude and disgusting racists. HGTV you really blew it with me.

I've watched three episodes of Home Town. Brooke, from episode three "Homecoming," turned me off to the show. Her attitude was poor and spoiled, which was laughable given the small budget. I refuse to watch a show with such poor clients; the charming hosts can't do it all.
I would like to say the quality of architecture is fabulous in this show; much better than Fixer Upper! Too bad the town has such poor clients/homebuyers from which to choose.

I love this couple because they are so real and so non-urban. And I love their relationship. Small town Mississippi is not Austin or San Diego and these folks capture that earnest southern small town feel. No artifice. If you don't like it, don't watch it. I am happy to let LA and Toronto go for a while, and to immerse myself in the south.
