One of the worst customer service experiences of my life

For the first appointment, the technician assigned was a no show. After 2 hours I called HelloTech and they gave me another appointment the next day. HelloTech then assigned the same technician who was a no show the first time, which I don't understand. He called about 3 hours before the appointment asking if he and his partner could come early, I said that I was in meetings for the next 3 hours. He sighed and said if they didn't come now, he might not have someone to help him. I said I'm sorry.

When my meetings ended earlier than planned, I called and told them they could go ahead and come now. When they arrived, the technician complained from the first moment he walked in the door through the almost 2 hours he was here. It wasn't on the work order that he had to take down a 45" TV so that's an additional cost…the Sony TV he had to mount was new and had a bracket he wasn't familiar with…the instructions only had pictures, no words…the instructions didn't make sense…if the bracket had been a normal one, they would have already been out of there…I didn't put on the work order that the HDMI cable for the Apple TV that was there had to be pulled from the wall so that would be an additional cost, etc. Any time I asked a question or offered to help in any way, he snapped at me or gave me some sarcastic/snide response. He actually called me "Baby Girl" at one point (I'm over 50 years old).

When the TV was hung, it was not even close to being centered, was crooked, and did not hang flush to the wall (which is one of the reasons why I selected the bracket I did…a Sony one that was especially made for the 2021 model Sony TV). When I pointed out these issues he said "there's nothing I can do" (although he never tried). Then he called into the office and told them that he tried to center it, but I complained it wasn't perfect, which was a lie. After the call he did try for about 5 min and then said the TV was too heavy (even though he had someone there helping him) and that the only way to fix it was to take the bracket off. He said he wasn't going to do that.

The second part of the work order was to hang the old TV in a different room. After 10 minutes, he comes in to say they couldn't hang it because the screws on the back of the TV were too tight and he didn't have the tools to take the existing bracket (for the 45" TV) off the wall. He then called into the office again (3rd time) to explain the problem. Each time he called, he talked about me in the most derogatory way.

In the end, I'm not sure if my new TV is hung properly, much less being centered. It doesn't look stable. They left packing materials all over the place. The 65" TV that was there is propped next to a bed. They removed the 45" TV and then threw it back on the wall, even though I told them to leave it off. It also does not look stable. When I asked for his name, he told me to call HelloTech and they would tell me. Then they left.

I did call, and HelloTech is refunding me for part of the job. I'm now making an appointment and will pay additional money for Geek Squad to fix what HelloTech did not do.

If you have the choice, do not use this company.

Worst experience ever!

DO NOT USE this fly by night company! We had an install scheduled for Friday 2/26/21,2 days before the install the tech called up and asked for an earlier appt since he had to drive 1 1/2 hours to our destination in Modesto, from Sac. We told him the tv was scheduled from 1-4 and we needed to make sure the tv was here first, that is why he was scheduled at 4
We told him if that changes we would have him come earlier. Well the day before it did chage and we called him and told him to be here at 2; 30, and he was happy with that.
So 3pm rolls around and NO TECH! We called him once again and he said he was having "car troubles", and was trying to borrow his MOM"S CAR! REALLY! Un first of all its was an 1 1/2 drive to our location so he had 2 hours to contact us and let us know of his situation, he did NOT we had to contact him to he that lame excuse! He did say that he would message us when he got a ride LMAO, of course that never happened!
So about an hour later I contacted thier "Customer Support" number, and after getting the canned response and apology, they finally said another install person would be assigned tomorrow, and would receive a text when that would happen. Did We? LOL Nope, Called again in the afternoon, and thier new answer it was escalated, and they said they were working HARD on the matter!
Finally we talked to another rep again after waiting all day and were told that the tech they had assigned no long available for installs LMAO, hmm wonder where he is working now, anyway they said then can reschedule for tomorrow, we just cancelled at this point and will be having a true professional come out to install it! What a really bad overall experience!

Techs are NOT technically knowledgeable and VERY UNRELIABLE

Worst company ever!
HelloTech does not train their techs, plus their techs are unreliable! First tech was scheduled (and I took off of work for the appointment), never even showed up. His name was Sammel. He wasted my day and time. Second tech was scheduled for two days later. He showed up on time and had no idea how to put together the Simplisafe alarm system. He had me helping him, calling tech support and wasting my time for even hiring him. His name is Abayomi Lucas (user ID # *******). He was a very nice person with zero tech knowledge. He was at my home from 10am till 12:30pm and only installed 2 censors until I was fed up with teaching him how to program. I knew how to program, but needed help with the actual installing. He wasn't any help; I was teaching him. At 12:30 pm I was fed up and told him he needed to go home. We had 12 more censors, a video doorbell, 2 motion detectors and 2 video cameras that still needed to be installed and set up. At the rate he was going, it would have been midnight. I decided to cancel the entire service including with simplisafe. We are now searching for alternative alarm systems that will be professional and have knowledgeable technicians who are TRAINED AND RELIABLE.

When complaining to the manager, "Tom", as he told me, he was very rude to me as I was telling him what happened. The most unprofessional company that I will make sure I will spread this review far and wide sho they don't do this to anyone else. They need to vet not only their techs, who are unreliable and not technically knowledgeable, but also vet their managers named Tom.

Rip off self renewing membership, can't be cancelled, charged $200 on card without consent

I lost the better part of a day of my life I will never get back again because I STUPIDLY saw the Google ad that hello tech was geek squad done better and cheaper. BOY WAS THAT A HUGE MISTAKE! First, I just called geek squad and they come out for $99. Hello tech wanted $129 minimum IF you could get them to do this. You cant. They "advise" that you'd be better off with a $200 membership per year (that auto renews forever) that covers all your tech--except it doesn't. In my case it only covered wifi--which if it worked better would make my tech better. DUH? But would do nothing if my computer didn't boot, or my phone quit. They mention on phone help, but getting a human on a phone is what you'd expect. I said since 30 day warranty on repair, I'd just do that. But they took my card AND CHARGED ME $200 AGAINST MY STATED WISHES. Go online to your "account. IT CAN'T BE CANCELLED UNTIL NEXT YEAR? Called, sat on hold, finally talked to a human who said it would be taken off, hours later no email saying it done. IT WASN'T!. Several phone calls and emails later I had to lose my temper and threaten litigation to get them to cancel it. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CARD INFO! THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU. Call anyone else. Anyone.
