Scam

This company is a total scam! I got a loadable card and they activated my card confirmed the money was there I went to use the card within an hour and the card declined I called again amd got hung up on twice and then told the money was spent and there was now a zero balance on the card not to mention somehow it got registered to someone else in that time as well. This was a brand new put of the package card that only left my hands to purchase it. There was no way. Then I filed a fraud claim and they denied me and said to contact police. I did and a lawyer because this $#*! is crazy. Oh and come to find out there is more then one class action lawsuit against them.

Greendot stole my money!

I bought a Walmart money card two years ago and put a 100 dollars on it my husband could remember the log in info so I called customer service the cancelled the card was supposed to send another one never did it's been two years and I still have not received the money after showing all proof from day one now they tell me my time limit ran out, so they took money off card and never paid it back I would never recommend this card I spent months and years on the phone verifying everything they asked for the drug me along until the time ran out and also said they money had been depleted from card yeah it had they took it off! Never ever buy one of those cards your just screwed if any thing goes wrong.

I purchased green dot card from retail shop. Attempted to activate card. Was never able to do so! I am supposed to receive a refund check in mail in a few days for the amount loaded onto card at the time of purchase. I was told the card must have malfunction. Or something n g to that effect. Which I could see why being as there are two different expiration dates on the card

I opened my greendot account in mid 2019. Never had any use for it really so I forgot about it.

Never even gave the card/account a second thought, until Feb 2021. I had a promo cash back deposit and it went to that card I must have attached it long ago and didn't realize.
No problem. I reloaded a prepaid beverage app and transferred the rest to my main bank account.
Again I completely forgot about this Green Dot account. After going through my phone to delete unused apps I opened the Green Dot app logged in and I have a NEGATIVE BALANCE over $110 in the whole.
It appears that in March 2021 they began charging a fee of $7.95 per month.
And I've never received emails, texts or even paper mail.
Why would I not have a fee for over a year and then out of the blue this fee shows up. 15 months it's been racking up.
It makes ZERO sense
Cannot delete or close the account and emailing customer service doesn't respond and calling just runs me in circles.
Racketeering is all I can compare it to.

Worthless

Can't get in touch with supervisors, and there is a language barrier. They hold your money like it belongs to them. I have them under investigation for not giving me my money when I provided documents. I requested my money off the card being that I am the originator, they are denying me of that. I would not ever recommend them and please when anyone file taxes, think twice about using them! I have seen a lot of reviews with people that have a large amount on their cards they will find ways to put your account on hold and saying you need to provide them with more documents. Save some time and complain to the Federal Reserve Board!

I've been using green dot for a while with no problems but here recently I've been having problems that forced me to find another alternative Financial institution to handle my finances. They've been double charging On certain things that I've attempted to purchase from multiple merchants. These merchants claimed that there's nothing they can do because they do not see these extra charges. Due to these double charges it has placed my account in overdraft and I accumulated multiples of overdraft charges in which green dot refuses to make right. Today I look at my green dot account to find yet another double charge. One posted and 1 in pending. This is from a totally different business with a totally different merchant service so they cannot blame where I purchased things from it's a problem glitch within the bank but they do not want to listen. So I'm taking my services elsewhere.

I have called customer service waiting on hold for 4 to 5 hours which I know y'all are not that busy if you are, do you need the heart more people that is totally unacceptable. You will lose my business, but it will not hurt you, but eventually it will bite you in the $#*!. I think the people are sitting around being lazy and not answering the phone because you don't know if they owned the other line really or not. I've been trying to contact y'all for a week one time I left it on hold for six hours because I was out of my truck that you think that makes any sense and you're supposed to be the number one business I think it's a joke. I've been using your for years and always the answer the phone. Now you can't get him to answer to save your life..

Will not Give Money Back
January 26, 2023

Have an account through Quickbooks Online Banking which is Green Dot Bank. I transferred over $45,000 from my other bank 2 1/2 weeks ago. After 3 weeks with them, they put a hold on my account through Quickbooks Banking. No one at Quickbooks or Green Dot can tell me why. Their are up front phone representatives with the same recorded message, We are so sorry about your situation. But they do not know why it is closed, then when asked who can I talk to to find out, it is someone else in another department that will get back to me in 2 days. It has been 9 days and not a single call back. They have $45,000 of my money and they will not even write a check to give it back. It is like I am in a spy movie. Something or someone is holding the strings, and I can not find out who or why.

Impossible to contact!

Cannot speak to human at the phone number they give.
If you go to site, chat is always down.
If you try to use their email option, every time you click send, it says there's an error and go log in again and start over.
They're worse than the government!
Purchased the card to pay for online payments for facebook promos without using my credit card. Facebook says the card is not legitimate.
Can't return card. Can't use card. Can't contact issuer. Someone should be going to prison.

I get direct deposit on the card for over two years. Due to the amount of purchases and deposits, it costs me a total of $0.00 per month to maintain the account!

There is one issue that I am not happy with, they stopped allowing international transactions a couple of months ago. I am a hobbyist and collector and have purchased many many items over the years from all around the world. I have not had a single issue and even ran a dozen or so with Green Dot. For some reason, they no longer allow international purchases. I do not like that at all. I now have to go through the extra expense of Western Union money to someone if I want to use the proceeds on the card.

Other than that, Green Dot is great in every sense of the word.

(1) Pray for God to intervene on the matter (2)Get your records together (3)Get a lawyer (4) contact your local "call for action" news media (5) sue the britches off of 'em (Green Dot Bank and Walmart Money). It is an inside job. The "specialists" and "agents" are crooks, they are going in peoples accounts, over charging, taking money out and freezing peoples accounts. When you try to contact them and let them know you know what is going on, they either (1) disconnect from you or (2) try to create "static" (fuzzy noises) to pretend like they can't hear you. They need to be investigated and thrown in jail!

Limits but no limits?

My only issue is with the cash back option having limits but my spending and depositing is not limited. It makes no sense to make someone wait an entire year for a 100 max cash back incentive. Will probably be changing to another prepaid for my online purchasing.

If you buy a card, your monthly fee will go up after some time of using it. The monthly fees are ridiculous. $7.99 just to use these guys? I don't think so. And $4.95 to reload? I don't think so. And take a look at all the bad reviews here... they are true stories. You will not be satisfied. Just stay very far away from them.
I switched to Netspend.

Account still under review they still won't give me my money they say it not closed so they can still deduct bank fees from my money but I can't touch it green dot response to post are the same to call customer service but I get the same response from them it's under review since February 20 2022. Pls help me if anyone else been in my place and got their money back pls let me know how.

Deceptive Practices

My elderly mother purchased a Green Dot card for me for my birthday. She was informed it was the same as a gift card and is sold with other gift cards in the local Kroger store. Upon attempting to use the card I discovered it was only accessible if an account is set up, which required sharing confidential information including social security number, and there is a charge if there is not a minimum deposit each month. I have no need for such a card nor do I want to share confidential information with an business I am unfamiliar with. I attempted to get the issue resolved directly with the organization and, after they twice ended a chat mid conversation, they said there was nothing they could do, the money would be lost if I did not disclose private information. It is only $50 - however is a matter of principle for deceptive practices.

THEY ARE LIARS!

Since November 2019 I've been waiting for them to release and give me back my money that was deposited in my closed account. Countless times I have called, emailed, spoke with different people with Green dot to give me my money. They kept saying that they will send it in the mail. It's September 2021 and have yet to receive the $2500 that was in my account back. Every time is always the same answer and every time is just bull crap. That is a lot of money that I don't have, that I could use for other things. It's ridiculous! I would NEVER recommend this company to ANYONE. They're complete garbage.

I'm still not sure why someone would want this card. It should not be used as a gift card- they charge 9.95/ month and 4.95 to add money. Once purchased you can never get your money back. They take 9.95 off the top once opened. Customer service will not help you now every give you a refund. Such a waste of money

Don't even do it

Horrible customer service. Tried to use my card on two sites. Both are saying my info does not match but I am putting in the right info. I created an account and my info is correct. Currently have tried to reach customer service for 4 hours. No answer on phone or chat. That is completely unprofessional. Do not even use green dot for prepaid purposes. I have never had this happen with any other institution. I will never use a green dot card again.

Green dot Rip off

Put a 100$ on a green dot and have spent weeks trying to get it activated. Web site did not work correctly and now I am getting text message from them telling me they need a copy of my driver's certificate. Now of these requirements are on the card or container the card came in. Funny, they took my money with out a driver certificate. I have no hope of ever seeing my money and I will tell every one to stay away from the Green Dot.
