Godaddy is not trustable

Goddady is a huge company who doesn't care about their clients' profitability.

For my customer bornedecharge.ca,
1- Godaddy wasn't able to take payment on my credit card for that specefic domain even if I had successfull payments the dau before and the day after for other domain names...
2- Godaddy wasn't able to take payment on my backup payment method (paypal)
3- I finally saw the notice by email and got on godaddy's website to pay manually using the default card on the account with success confirmation by godaddy.
4- The later day, my employees called me in the morning because the site was offline! They parked my domain name by changing dns servers without my consentment. Moreover, they were earning money on my client's back with ads on that parked web site for bornedecharge.ca!
5- I call french support at 7h58 in the morning. French department was closed
6- I call english support, got the line after 20 minutes even though I am a premium customer (huge yearly prime to get prices still a little bit higher than competitors!). They flushed me after 1h20m without calling me back! (How much unprofessionnal a company agent can be to do that?)
7- Calling back to support, answer after 15 minutes, explain problem, ask to speak to a level 3/4 support guy who can change my dns for this domain name. They can't do it themselves! They told me the problem would be fix within 24 hours! For my 50k monthly visitors website, this is unacceptable. I asked for a supervisor Or a support level 3 or 4 agent and got sent back to the bortom of the waiting list waiting another 20 minutes before getting another agent.
8- Finally reached Javier, very professionnel and respectfull, he kept me online while contacting higher level of support and putting my request in high priority.
But bornedecharge.ca was still down for couple of hours...

Bravo godaddy for all your bugs!
On the line with agents, they asked me to login to my account getting MANY errors from godaddy saying I have unregular browser on (chrome on Galaxy Z-Fold) which I used hundreds of times in the past.

Other bug: I tried to buy a specific.ca domain name 5 times in 2 months! I have been refund every time automatically but godaddy is still unable to finish my purchase!

Overall, godaddy s.u.c.k.s a lot, has unprofessional agents (not all, luckily), has lots of bugs everywhere, is more expansive than competition... and sells you premium services without doing the premium service you pay for...

Try other serious company like whc.ca or rapidenet.ca for professional services less expansive than godaddy...

Disgusting customer service experience from a 10 year Godaddy customer

Disgraceful customer service by Godaddy Team and no current way to address this situation.

How do I contact senior management or Customer Service Director?

Here is my recent situation as of today 27/10/23.

On 20/10/23 I had a perfectly functioning legacy web builder package which still had 8 months to go before renewal. I am a 10 year customer to this lot.

I decided to purchase SSL package plus the setup fee on 20/10/23.

On 24/10/23 I noted that no setup had been done and contacted Customer Support only to be told that "Sorry but that web builder package you have does not support SSL. But we will refund you the SSL you purchased but we will advise you that if you want to you can upgrade to the W+M package and that will give you website and SSL combined at no extra cost for 2 years. It will take 24 hours to complete and we will look after everything. We will cancel your fully functioning existing site plan and your website will be down for only 24 hrs."

Great says me.

24 hours later - no website up and running - and fobbed off by two customer support agents who said its all under progress. When will it be live again. Soon they say, soon.

48 hours later - no website up and running - same story. This time I get an email late in the day to say they cannot fix my issue and I have to contact customer support. "Fix my issue?" What issue. I had no issue. You have created the issue by mis selling product and service.

I had a perfectly functioning website, you sold me an SSL package that was not fit for my purpose. You then sold me a W+M package that you could not implement and my website was still down.

Today 27/10/23 my site was still down.

I contacted support via chat and explained for the 5th time what was going on and I was told that the first agent has really mucked up and that it was not possible to migrate my data from the old legacy web builder to the new W+M without me rebuilding the whole site. But they will refund me the charge for W+M.

So at this stage I now have no website, a refund and no data I can access.

Dont worry they say. All you have to do is pay for a new plan and we can upload all your data into a Web Builder V7. It will only cost you another $133.00 for a year and we will give you one year free SSL as long as you pay for the SSL setup fee.

So at this point I know I had a website, fully functional, no issues and paid through to June 2024.

Now I had no website, had been sold a pig in a poke, and was now being told I had to pay to get a new plan in order to get my own data back and have my website running.

So I paid the $133.00 to get the V7 web builder and it was up and running.

My next question was okay lets now setup the 1 year free SSL you clearly stated.

Oh yes, about that they said. It is not functional with the V7 solution we offered you.

Absolute scam.

THAT IS EXTORTION. THAT IS A SCAM and I want everyone who deals with this organisation to know it and hopefully the Customer Services Director will get wind of this and take some serious action because it will not just be myself I am certain.

I had to pay the $133.00 to get my website back.

A website plan that they advised I cancel in order to upgrade to another plan which they were unable to fulfill and then charge me again to put the original site back up. Blatant fraud and there is no way to contact them to deal with it other than through online customer support - the very people who stiff you in the first place. Madness.

So how much am I out?

My time spent chasing these scammers in customer support + 8 months of existing contract on the original site (approx. $72.00) + $133.00 to restore the site.

This is a disgusting episode in customer support and no way to actually contact and deal with any customer complaints other than here in the community.

Let me see if the Customer Support Director takes action on this or if someone can direct me to senior management.

I will never recommend this organisation after this episode. 10 years I have been with Godaddy and was more than delighted to recommend them to everyone and anyone. Not now. Any goodwill has been absolutely shattered.

If I want a refund to recover the costs they have forced me into by their mis selling, incompetence and fraudulent behavior my only option appears to be to cancel my plan or product. Madness and absolutely disgusting.

Complete Nightmare With Go-Daddy Support!

3 critical technical issues with my website, hosting site and wordpress and also unable to login to my host url all while support providing NO solution and a complete mess with the ticket process and customer outreach.
1) unable to login to my host site- hosting account- password and username reset attempts would go to a diff email address that i no longer have access too, (a 5 min fix)
2) unable to access wp-admin wordpress site- support unable to offer an engaged interactive technical support- i keep being told ticket is open and someone will fix it today.- NO ONE bothers to get back with me or call me, and issues is not fixed
3) unable to login to my hosting site ( the secure server hosting) that was set up by hostnerd- everytime i call support they tell me ART (account recovery team) will fix it-
ART team emailed me asking for my Driver license- i had to wait 24 hours just to find out they didnt like the picture it was too blurry- i resent a more clear picture, waited another 24 hours just to find out they NOW want me to hold the driverse license up while taking a selfie- ( all this while my website was in-operable, im loosing customers, loosing thousands of dollars in business and yet customer support refuses to escalate my call over the phone and wants me to wait for one email per day from support.
The *******500 is the one ive called and its folks from overseas and they dont seem to truly understand the problem at all, all they do is open a ticket and promise me it will be fixed, but it has NOT been.
This is the worst support i received, they used to be good, i used to receive good support, now the folks that answer provide no value since they dont even understand the real issue

NIGHTMARE! Horrible Customer Service/IT Support

UPDATE 8/2/2023: I received an email from the office of the CEO of Godaddy today that they're doing an investigation and are threatening to terminate my site and their business with me due to the way I spoke to their illegitimate employees. No apology for the month of business I've lost, the lack of help I received from their employees, their employees putting me on hold and hanging up after long periods of time waiting, for the month of torture they've put me through all to finally be told they've "HAD A KNOW BUG IN THEIR SERVERS"! Now they want to threaten to terminate my business?!? They need to refund my money so I can move my domain.

I have had an issue with all of the shipping methods I have selected for my customers to choose from not being available/showing up for my customers to select at check for going on three weeks now. It only worked correctly the first day I launched my site. Since then, their IT people have told me that USPS doesn't ship to those locations (any because we/I/they tried addresses I shipped to the day it worked and literally any address I could find), they told me that USPS made some big update and changed the names of their shipping methods and didn't inform them and I have to wait for them to do this update. I confirmed with USPS and the only thing that changed was they added the word "Advantage" to their Ground shipping and I was assured that it literally affects NOTHING. Then, since they tried everything that I as the customer could and did do on my end, and NOTHING as far as coding, APIs or anything IT goes, I was told to call USPS and fix it myself. I tried numerous times with other employees to get help, where I was hung up on, met with the same stupidity as prior calls with the same excuses, the supervisors were all the same, making these excuses that USPS doesn't ship to the addresses I'm trying to use USPS First class and that's why it's not giving my customers (ANYONE) that shipping option. Because of this, my customers are being charged a MINIMUM of $10 for shipping for a less than ONE OUNCE package which I definitely am not paying for and neither are my customers, therefor I have lost nearly all business for going on three weeks now. I submitted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to which they replied that they "could not replicate my problem" as if there's nothing wrong, and that in order for those shipping methods to be an option for my customers, I need to have them selected. Are you effing serious?!?! Today, I tried again with IT Support to have them tell me that there is KNOWN BUG in their system and they are working on it, and "in the mean time, I can charge a flat rate shipping of $10 to solve the problem". This has been torture. A completely unreal nightmarish experience!

How godaddy erased all my websites

Imagine waking up one day to find all your work, your livelihood, and your clients' projects vanishing into thin air.

That's precisely what happened to me, a website designer and developer, when GoDaddy, the hosting giant, decided to play the role of an executioner.

For the past two years, I trusted GoDaddy with over 120 domains and two critical servers to host my clients' projects. Naively believing that they were a reliable partner, I offered the hosting plan to my clients, ensuring a seamless and professional experience.

Last Wednesday, every website hosted on my GoDaddy's servers vanished into thin air, leaving me and my clients in a state of shock and despair. The bread pastry shop in Portugal, the Bird Feeding Company in Australia, the chauffeur company, and numerous crypto projects — all obliterated in an instant.

The reason behind this sudden catastrophe? One of my clients' projects had been flagged for a trademark infringement. I immediately responded, promising to take the website down to resolve the issue. But they just seized control of my account.

As soon as I saw the ban, I desperately tried to solve it. I sent numerous emails, begging for a possible backup of the server or at least control to remove the disputed website. But their response was nothing short of a cold, calculated blow. Their reply came, devoid of any empathy or understanding of the devastation they had caused:

"Due to the scope of the infringement claim that we have received, this suspension is permanent and there are no reactivation options available."

A permanent suspension. No right to appeal. No way out, no second chances — it was final.

I asked for a backup of my hosting account content, hoping they would show a bit of mercy. But they were relentless in their refusal:

"A backup of the hosting account content will not be provided. At the time of your purchase, you agreed to accept responsibility for maintaining a backup of the hosting account contents when you accepted our terms of service and hosting agreement."

Their terms of service, buried in legalese, were used as a shield to deflect any responsibility. They washed their hands off any obligation to help.

This and other stories call for the need for decentralized internet hosting networks, where power is distributed and no single entity holds the keys to our digital lives. We must come together to build a resilient and trustworthy internet ecosystem that safeguards our businesses, our dreams, and our freedom.

There has to be a better solution, one that understands that not all cases are the same. The right to appeal should be a standard. We need a system that acknowledges the unique circumstances of each case and provides avenues for appeal. Companies should not be the judge, the juri and the executer.

Let this unfortunate experience serve as a wake-up call for all freelancers around the world. Don't use these services.

Though GoDaddy may have deleted my websites, they cannot erase the truth about their actions. Sharing this post to raise awareness about this type of behaviours from companies — for a better, fairer, and decentralized internet that empowers us all.

VERY outdated cyber security

I was just on the phone with GoDaddy for 1 hour and 15 minutes about a huge problem on going for 6 weeks, and the call just disconnected. Their customer service is astonishingly bad.
Also Go Daddy email security is VERY weak & lets virus emails in frequently. Because of their weak email security there was a huge breach on my business email- which has been unfixed for SIX WEEKS. GoDaddy support will ignore your emails begging for them to fix it. You will be on the phone for HOURS trying to get the problems fixed and it STILL won't be fixed. If paying your overhead and staff is dependent on you being able to communicate, DO NOT use GoDaddy for business email and probably not for anything else because of their outdated security. I have businesses trying to verify my email address trying to send me checks but I can't verify my email address because of GoDaddy's extremely outdated security software my business email now bounces all sent emails back immediately.
I've had MANY suspicious emails from unknown servers get into my Go Daddy email inbox (and I have only had a business email with them since 2018) their security system is so outdated. I have had business email addresses with Wix and Vistaprint since 2007 and I have NEVER seen a suspicious email from an unknown address with an attachment even get through to ANY of those accounts and NEVER had a breach or malware.
My Go Daddy business email has been compromised for 6 weeks. (and the steps they did email me to try to fix it were in Programmer lingo, extremely difficult to understand and took 90 minutes to complete.) other web hosting or business email sites (Vistaprint, Wix, BlueHost) don't have these security problems and it's the reason they don't make you jump through 3 security hoops just to speak to a customer service rep because they have up to date security systems unlike Go Daddy- they are the only ones who have all these security steps because their security sofware is from 2012 & is so weak your email server will be at risk for hacks, malware & viruses. In 16 years on other hosting sites I haven't had a single virus, or suspicious email. I've only had my GoDaddy email 5 years and I've been hacked and seen many suspicious emails get through.
Please do not set up a website, purchase a domain or do anything through GoDaddy if you do not like being hacked, malware, viruses, or if you are dependent on paying your business overhead and staff using communication by email.

15 days and counting to resolve an issue!

I recently got locked out of my account because I got a new phone and lost the app (authenticator app) that produces the code for 2 step verification. Now I never set those up because it can be a hassle to actually reset it but I was actually forced to set it. (when I say forced they kept sending me emails, calling and all that to set it up). Now I have been trying to get back in it and provided all the documents that I had on me. You guys keep asking for a Master Business Licence.

Yes I contacted them and been connected with your "ART" team which is really useless to say the least
Yes I have called them and been told that you cannot speak to anyone in their account recovery department because they dont take phone calls (hint hint there is no real person)
Yes I have chatted with a person and she/he keeps saying (please wait for the recovery team to get back to you)
Yes I have sent you a 2 pieces of photo ID with all the documentation I have verifying the same address and same name eveything
Yes I have sent you ALL the dcouments I have from CRA

I called Service Ontario and CRA and Corporations Canada myself to confirm that "Canada does not issue a Master Business Licence". You can call them on the number listed on their website to verify it.

Their systems are not updated to reflect the business documents from the country you may run your business in. So beware of that

If you want to confirm yourself with the CRA or Service Ontario or anyone, they will tell you the same

Please do not request the same documentation from me again and again despite letting you know that Canada does not work like US does.

I am absolutely frustrated by your lack of knowledge of laws, documents and incorporations pertaining to the country, incompetence and lack of resources to attend to this issue on priority basis

Been trying to resolve this for 15 days and counting - just non stop as if I don't have anything else in the work to do. Consider myself as one of the people who would never recommend godaddy for any services and will keep leaving one star reviews everywhere.

Website load times are slower than anyone else.

Webpage nightmare

I had a private company build me a word press website that was hosted on Godaddy since 2012ish. All I needed was the times of operation changed and I called support for assistance. This is where the sales man tells me the $6000 site professionally built was too slow and losing the company visibility. Even though I was on the top of the first page. Next they could not be paid to help a minor WP edit unless they rebuild the entire site. Upset, all I wanted was a mirror text change and my existing site to improve the speed and back coding to make it great!
Approximately 2 years later and a hundred hours of my time on poor customer service. The web design team expert could not even make a minor change like changing a phrase or time or address every tiny edit had to be sent to another team to make the coding or editing. Probably offshore. A new feature of my Godaddy Word Press was a pop up that would collect client phone numbers and emails. The put a pop up on and said it was all done. They had no compliance for collecting that information, no cookie warning, no unsubscribe. I was told not to worry about it was not necessary. A lie, that information must use compliance it's the law. A company that educated me on this was Simpletexting.com I use for marketing. Also, the Godaddy experts could not take a picture of framed art and turn it into a vector for professional viewing on the new web. I had to buy photoshop and allow an employee to train and learn the software to provide vector art for the new site.
Every phone call required hours of holds and transfers and long waits to get anything finished. What Godaddy is great with is excuses. Remember I am paying to host my old site, paying to host the site under construction and it takes nearly 2 years to get my website done. The website finally launched 1/19/2023 and as of 2/11/2023 google and many other analytics flagged the site for failure to meet levels to properly operate. 10 years of service and having paid for SEO and other products and 75% failure rate in browser data ….errors still since 3 business moves later. I called to get help and was harassed and put on long holds and alway they will never give you any access to the corporate structure. Never. Their escalations is non existent. So you are held hostage by dumb and dumber if you have a problem. Godaddy employees must all be commission or quota based because sales will be wonderful and pick up fast. But getting problems resolved no one wants to do it. I was promised a new improved word press site and it was to be the same and better than what I had. The first design review I pointed out they only designed 4 pages and my old site had 6 pages. The sales man's lies start showing. They could not do 6 pages, I would have to add them on after the finish for a extra $89. I said no I just want it done as I was promised And I even offered continuously to just pay the extra $200 bucks and do it right. They refused. After pan iced because my old site was taken down and replaced with the launched site but the site looked good for one day. Auto emails start coming about updates they did. Next the website is missing my logo, the meet us is missing our friendly faces, the site looks like a hacker or low budget kid did it and it isn't working. Instead of helping and fixing it as I called numerous times they stuck me in customer service hell! The fact is the cost of doing business is your time in resolving and getting help. Not knowing anything other than Godaddy I felt financially a captive prisoner. Also, the damage to my business and lose of time it was criminal! A good friend referred me to Blue Host and I am so upset because I am not even a customer yet and they have been fast effective and extremely knowledgeable. Good bye to BadDaddy and it is time to stop accepting incompetent customer service. BTW I was assured my new site would be word press it is on my receipt as such. I made sure I could take it and host it anywhere. All a lie!my new Godaddy site will not migrate because they blocked the coding and did a proprietary drag and drop! No matter what you will never get higher up so if you like to bang your head on the wall than flush all your money away and paralyze your business Godaddy is your type or business. Site not working properly

I typed this on my iPhone. I would have uploaded the invoice and a photo of my 12" file of calls and complaints.
