Constantly lying and being greedy. All they care about is money. Their economy has gone to the dumps because they don't care how the sites doing, so long as they get that sweet moolah, right?

I joined the site back on early '06, but I wasn't really active until October of 2009. That month and year is when the users held a small event called "OcTrollBer" where the point was to dress your avatar up as a mythological troll, it was tons of fun and I made many friends. This having been five years ago I can say that I loved my experience with Gaiaonline and I love the friends I made however, gaiaonline's time has passed, it is now owned by someone who does not care about the community, only about how much money he can squeeze out of us. Ignoring that the site is targeted towards children as young as 13 years old they push out item after item after item that is only sold in the cash shop for upwards of $25, they've even sold items for $100-$1000. As far as I'm concerned, this site - while once it was good, fun, and an enjoyable place to be - is now nothing but a scam. Do something they don't like? Doesn't matter if you spent $100 or more on the site, you're permanently banned. Didn't do anything at all? Guess what, doesn't matter, they can ban you anyway.

There are members of the site participating in a "walk-out" where they will not log in for two weeks to show their displeasure with how the site is. Gaiaonline, instead of acknowledging this as a protest, is banning those aligned with the walk out under the banner of it being "site harassment".

Five years ago, I would have recommended this site to everyone. Now? I'd shoot myself in the foot before I recommended this site to my worst enemy.

Looking for an anti-religion site with no moderation and cyber sex? Here's the place if you can find it under all the ads.

No, really. The first page you get after the tutorial that tells you how to sign up, use the site, and buy stuff is nothing but ads. All surveys for users are rated in priority depending on how much money you give them (give them none and your survey is invalid)

I have been on the site for 9 years and I have been stalked, sexually harassed, trolled, told to leave threads, and now banned from the Nanowrimo thread for disagreeing with 'all religions are cults, violent, and money-grubbing' (and one user said), and one user has been posting 'This person is a liar' on several threads after I reply. Only half my complaints were ever solved, the rest were blamed on me, especially the last two.

I've reported spam, trolling of others, and misplaced threads all over the forums. Either the report button goes to a dead e-mail, or to dead staff, as nothing has been moved or deleted in a year.

There's always the games, but if there's a glitch, it can take at least 19 months to address the problem.

Over the last few years Gaia has shown little to no concern of its users. Well, they evidently do care about their money though. They offer little to no content in exchange for ridiculous amount of IRL money. You'd think they're using the basically ripped-off money they get from their users to improve the site but no, I have not seen a significant change in the site over the past 5 years. Only a few not even worth mentioning buggy mini games and several recycled events with new art and a few tweaks here and there and more overpriced pixels. Furthermore they have closed the only acceptable game they had which was zOMG (although I had barely played it, it was significantly better than their other trash ones, which are not even on the level of browser games by the way). Their developers also seem to be very incompetent, seeing there are bugs still present that should have been fixed years ago. I'm not even going to discuss the ruined economy (prime example of gaia's greed and disregard of non-paying users) because this review would just get way too long.

Overall, gaia has become a very money-hungry, greedy site with incompetent developers and staff. Their closure is only a matter of time. Sad, because they had potential 5 years ago.

Cleanup
July 28, 2015

Guruaid assisted me with cleanup after my computer had been infected, I think, with malware or some other malady. The assistance was good and the results very satisfactory. I appreciate the help.

Spiritually uplifting
January 29, 2020

I've only watched three series, Gregg Braden's Missing Links, Joe Dispenza's series Rewired and Dr Sue Morter's The Healing Matrix and I found all the content here quite informative and uplifting. I only watch tv before bed and feeling inspired through these programs helps me to sleep better than when I am watching Netflix.

I've been on Gaia Online for a little over 10 years now. I used to love the site. And when I could I would give the site my money. Those who ran the site respected and cared about the site and it's users. Those who ran the site would take the time and listen to the user's want and needs. And best of all it was free to use. People could earn gold (virtual currency) without having to use real money. With enough hard work people could get any item they wanted.

But now it's all about real life money. With the constant push of cash items, gold generator releases, lack of respect, lack of communication and broken promises it's gone down hill.

Thanks to the constraint release of gold generators have made it next to impossible to buy anything from the marketplace. Those who can't use real life money have been left behind. They can't buy anything because inflation has gotten so high that it's impossible to earn enough gold.

There used to be a weekly thread where users could talk to the Admins of the site. Ask questions, get information or just talk and get to know the better. But now that has been replaced by a monthly blog. One that users cannot reply to. People have asked Gaia to try and fix the inflation problem they created with the release of gold generators and all they've done is release another gold generator.

Users on Gaia today feel mistreated and ignored. To us it feels like the current Gaia Online only sees it's users as cash cows and not people. As much as I hate to say it, it would be best to just stay away from Gaia Online.

What. Happened.
March 29, 2017

I'm back from a... 5 year(?) hiatus. The last I played was in the early zOMG days, and I stopped playing for natural reasons; growing old, university got in the way, etc. I didn't stop because the site was bad or stale. Basically, I got a sudden nostalgia trip and I was wondering how dear old Gaia has turned out in those 5 years. I was crossing my fingers that they managed to survive these past few years, that's how much I loved the site back then. So I log in with my old username, and lo and behold it worked! Excitement turned into dismay, however, when I saw that absolutely nothing of note has changed, at least with the interface. It looks old. Nothing new to pull in users. The interface is still as clunky as it was. And then I saw what had happened to its economy. 1 GC= 50 BILLION Gaia gold. When I stopped playing 50 billion was a god send. Now it seems like its worth absolute trash! What happened? What is the site doing to save itself? I can't fathom people spending ten dollars IRL for one new monthly item. It's pixels. All I'm seeing now is a site that could care less about what users it has left, and doing nothing to bring in new ones.

I have been a member since '05. Used to be the best game I have ever played, until their new CEO began to suck the money from all it's users. They shut down the best mini games, destroyed the economy, and completely lie to each member about their future plans. They don't care about their users. They don't care about anything but money. DON'T PLAY UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING TO PAY.

The new management treat the users as a cash cow. The motto also includes "If it can't generate revenue, don't update it" and so they have features they don't update anymore.

Only got to watch one video and decided to cancel after my trial. I canceled my subscription but they still charged me, I assumed I did it wrong so I canceled again and took the payment as it was my fault. Eventually I figured out it STILL didn't work so I contacted their support, which is BS, took them forever to reply and they replied with how to cancel I informed them I did that twice. Then I recieved no reply after that. So I tried to cancel again! Still it was. Charging me! Attempted to reach out AGAIN and nothing, I eventually had to report them for FRAUD to my bank and get a new debit card! RIDICULOUS! So I give them a one star for being so MONEY HUNGRY and ignoring my many attempts to make it right!

I will not begin talking about the gold situation and cash-milking that the players have to go through in order to enjoy anything since it's already been pointed out.

I started on 2007 beaucse of my friends and stayed until 2015, until I was banned for telling the mod, after warning me for spamming, the following words: "My post on the forums was not spam."

I had years worth of gold, items, and expriences taken away from me for nothing. Such a thing would not have happened before the company was sold to the new owner.

To sum it up, Gaia-online has become a terrible place to browse. Gold is worthless and it's practically impossible to get new items unless you pay, holiday events come out late and never reward you properly, games are broken, features get taken down in favor of sponsored games and things go quickly down hill.
Mods are biased and TERRIBLE at moderating anything. Type "banned on gaia online and i don't know why" and you will find an absurd amount of results.

Stay away from that $#*!ty website. In the beginning of gold generators and item flooding, the website made more money than the normal -- but their economy will fall soon enough once money would be the main essence of the game.

I have had a very disappointing experience with gaia.com. Although they have some great video there customer service and billing department are appalling. I had tried to cancel my subscription because I felt like I could get the same quality and more variety by using YouTube and did not feel it was worth the money. I was still charged the monthly fee after I had canceled then when I went to use gaia I was not granted access, I kept getting a message saying my subscription was not active and I needed to pay to restart. They had just taken out money of my account to pay the subscription amount. When I tried to call their customer service number I kept getting a recorded message saying that were unable to take my call. No options to talk to anyone in any department. I tried to call them every 20 minutes for an hour and still the same message. I then turned to emailing them about the issue and still haven't received any response. I am so disappointed with my experience and in the company that claims to be uplifting and enlightened. They don't care about you and your experience, they just want your money and don't seem to care if how they get it is unethical and shady. DON'T WAIST YOUR MONEY OR TIME!

I'm done.
June 26, 2015

I've been a member of Gaia since 2004. It was at the height of my teen years and I loved it to bits. I was able to express myself creatively and had loads of fun. I took a hiatus for a while - returning just as zomg was coming out. Needless to say, it was a fantastic game and I got into Gaia again for a while. Then I went to university, coming back after another few years, just to see what I'd missed.

When I left, Gaia cash had just started becoming a thing. The item announcements were a little annoying, but they weren't every day and most of the stuff was pretty neat and creative. I saw it as a way of bringing funds in - which at the time seemed fair. Now, it is literally insane. The user base is squeezed dry because nobody cares about how we feel. Zomg is gone, gold is practically worthless and the forums and games are poorly moderated.

However, the straw that broke the camel's back for me was when, for really no good reason at all, they brought down TekTek. So nobody can create their own avatars anymore, or be creative with all the shoddy cash-cow items being rolled out every five seconds.

It makes me sad, when I look back at how the site once was. I truly hope that one day, it might come back again. For now, I'm done.

I'm heartbroken :(
August 18, 2015

I've been on gaia since middle school and now I'm in university so it's been a good 7-8 years. I remember when I was a "newbie" and discussing gaia with my best friends in middle school, after graduating everyone went their different ways, we would still contact each other but it's not the same. Until a few years back and zOMG was introduced, we would play zOMG together and it was so nostalgic.

Gaia was a big part of my teen life, it used to have awesome regular updates and had a great community. Until the gold generators came in and everything went downhills (you could argue it even happened before that) The arts forum was the reason I got introduced to digital arts, which by the way is my major in university now, so for me gaia wasn't just a "game", and I'm sure many many people feel the same. Which is why I'm heart broken loggin for the first time in half a year and seeing this dying and possibly dead community/game. I don't know what happened to it but the owners/makers of gaia clearly don't give a $#*! about their users anymore. The great site that accompanied me while growing up was gone and I wish I could say it will come back but it's probably not going to. So here goes my condolences to gaia online:

Rest in peace, the game we all loved and grew with. May there be another community that will rise and become as grand as gaia became. :)

0/5. Things are different from how they were years ago. They will ban you even if you didn't break ToS, some people have been banned for expressing ideologies because the mods don't agree with them. They beg for money and support instead of offering up anything new. What's worse, they will NEVER get back to you. The wait times to hear back from moderators is 3+ months, and you will be sent the same automated mails, never hearing from an actual person. If you attempt to contact a mod, you will be led on a wild goose chase of who to speak with, and sometimes, they will get snippy with you, even if you conduct yourself kindly and professionally. I wasted 5 years of my life on this website beyond 2013; one good thing did come out of it, as I met my fiance on there. Dreadful people, I really hope the site shuts down so they stop scamming people out of money in order to fund their new porn site. If you make art for people on the website, you will be expected to negotiate offsite, or only accept their digital worthless currency. All that's on there now is thirsty, "Am I pretty?" Crying teenagers, and perverts.

I did the. 99 try out and it didn't work into my schedual so i was going to cancel and forgot so i paid for the next month so that was on me. I cancelled my subscription online at that point on the first week of january and didn't think of it again until the next month. I was charged again so this time i called their customer service line. I got a girl on their who was sharp and not very curtious and it went downhill from the moment i said i was upset to get charged after cancelling. SHE GAVE ME A LECTURE ON THIS IS A REVOLVING CHARGE AND IT SAID THAT WHEN YOU SIGNED UP FOR THE SERVICE. (excuse me?!?) when i went to reply, she hung up on me! OMG from a yoga and meditation site are you kidding me? After this i'm convinced that all they want is your money.

I am only here writing this review tonight because two of my accounts were banned OVER FOUR YEARS AGO, and just tonight I received some groundbreaking info about it, but not really. I was initially banned for using my over 9,000 IQ hackerman skills, but since I'd made it clear it was a joint throw-away account, I've been reminded that this breaks ToS. That's all well and good, except would this then not null my ban for hacking and open an entirely new investigation into account sharing, in which case, the other party did not receive a ban for their part in it as they were anticipating? I appreciate the lack of additional information included in the support, and the years it took your team to come up with a well-thought out response as to why they gave an unreported, unsolicited ban. Though I once saw great potential in your growing art forums, I now look forward to the imminent collapse of your site as your greatest demographic is 40+ year old men still living in their mothers' basements messaging teenagers. Have a splendiferous evening, and arigato for nothing, Gaia Online.
